00:00and first of details coming in of how india bloc vice president candidate b sudarshan reddy
00:11has been criticized by home minister amit shah this is an exclusive coming in after he was
00:18slammed by home minister amit shah where the india bloc vice president picks for rise of
00:24nazism in india is what was said by the union home minister b sudarshan ready has responded
00:29to that criticism by amit shah so darshan ready has clarified that the judgment was delivered by
00:35the supreme court and not by him personally listen in to that exclusive conversation
00:39i'll begin this interview with a very straightforward question sir what prompt you to take
00:49this this battle or this contest because everybody is saying that numbers the verdict is already out
00:55as they say i don't think there is uh such a huge massive difference of votes between
01:04uh the opposition and uh nda the margin is very very thin and uh one after the other political parties
01:17and uh independent members are extending their support for my candidature who knows what is
01:26going to happen in another five six days and i have never applied my mind to the you are right
01:33to that extent numbers uh when this indication was given to me i must be fair and i i should not
01:45concede the idea came from the congress okay i said i require some time then they said only a few hours
01:58they said uh if i am going to be the candidate of opposition
02:04opposition i will accept the opposition i will accept the offer for the simple reason
02:13the opposition as such in this country represent about 66 or 67 percent of the population
02:23that means i am a candidate sponsored by majority of the population of this country
02:34therefore what is this numbers you are talking about so what is the uh what is the appeal
02:41for your electoral college how are you going to convince them uh to what okay constitution of india
02:54first time i was sworn in
02:56in the year 1971 when i entered the bar many of our friends including friends in media are not aware
03:11that oath administer is administered even to a lawyer in the name of the constitution when they enter the bar
03:20there after i became the government leader during ntr regime
03:31and once again the oath was administered to me
03:35then i became a judge once again the oath was administered
03:41i became the chief justice of northeastern i quote
03:43both on the constitution and finally as a judge in the supreme court therefore my journey with the
03:53constitution has begun 1971 and uninterruptedly it continues
04:02and the present office for which i hope i will be elected also part of the same journey
04:14because i don't believe that office of the vice president is
04:18the political institution it's a high constitutional office there is nothing political about
04:25absolutely but do you also firmly hold this you remember what mr vinka and i do the previous vice president
04:34did essentially a political animal
04:40he also comes from the same background as that of my friend sriman radha krishnanji
04:49the day he sat in the chair he said i am no more a member of any political party
04:55that is the nature of that office
04:59that tradition is to be kept and maintained
05:03so you think that it was not maintained during the tenure of the former
05:09i am nobody to comment about what the previous vice president did or did not
05:16i will not comment okay so you also firmly believe in this uh you know
05:20uh in this notion that this this battle or this contest is essentially to save the idea of india
05:27as many of your supporters uh idea of india idea of constitution
05:33uh ours is a multilingual multi-cultural multi-religious nation
05:43unique in the whole world
05:46and but for the value of fraternity
05:56enshrined in the preamble
06:01there is no meaning of multilingualism multiculturalism and multi-religious
06:06unity and maybe you are aware
06:12objects resolution was moved first by pandiji
06:17more or less same
06:18the preamble the preamble in which fraternity was absent
06:25baba sahih brought it into the constitution the preamble the fraternity
06:28state it is linked to dignity
06:37that means recognition
06:41that means empowerment
06:47so as far as i am concerned i am committed to all those values
06:52so mr chandra babu naidu has pledged support to and he is a candidate
06:59he is saying that this is not about
07:02i won't speak for sri chandra babu naiduji he is a visionary leader
07:07one of our tallest leaders in the country
07:11and he knows what to do and at what point of time
07:16i am sure he will take
07:18an appropriate decision in the national interest
07:27he did it previously on many occasions
07:32he gave many twists and turns
07:36on the horizon of indian political scene
07:43i am nothing before his political skills
07:45who am i one last question sir
07:49so there are many political parties
07:51which are not part of either nda or india bloc
07:55namely brs bjd
07:58so how are you going to reach out to them
08:04friends like rabbi and others
08:06they are talking and some of them are directly talking to me
08:20some of them are offering their support in their own way
08:24and i want don't ask me further i don't expand that
08:36everybody is talking to me
08:41the reason is simple because i don't belong to any political party
08:45and i talk to everyone
09:00i enjoy talking to everyone
09:03as i am enjoying my conversation with you
09:05thank you sir same
09:06thank you so much
