00:20Hello and welcome back to Cape Town for what has been a busy day here at the Newlands Cricket Ground.
00:24This is the second game in our doubleheader, Pakistan taking on Bangladesh.
00:29Pakistan knowing that they're going through to the semis, but where will they play if they win?
00:33They'll stay here, if they lose they'll be playing it in Durban.
00:37The teams of Bangladesh have gone in with a debutant, Sandiki, who will be batting somewhere in the top order.
00:44Everyone else, players who have probably underachieved throughout, but they certainly are a talented side.
00:49Pakistan, well what will they do with their batting order?
00:52Will they change Freedy maybe to the top of the order because the first three have been failing.
00:58Pakistan won the toss. As we've seen here in Newlands over and over again, they decided to chase.
01:03And let's go down to the commentary box where you'll find Alan Wilkins.
01:07As with Australia, the two left handed openers, Mahmoud Asif will open the bowling for Pakistan.
01:18Very good afternoon to Atharali Khan sitting alongside me, looking very good and dapper today, Athar.
01:24Good afternoon, Alan, and good afternoon to all the viewers.
01:27Yes, Jeanette Siddiqui getting his first game for Bangladesh and will be opening with Tami Mikbal.
01:33The two left handers for Bangladesh, Mahmoud Asif to start the proceeding for Pakistan.
01:38Well, there would have been a lot of heartfelt talk, I would have thought in the dressing room after a very poor performance by Bangladesh against Sri Lanka.
01:50And what's the news from the camp, Athar?
01:53Well, there was quite a little bit of talk after that game. As players, as bowlers, they felt very sorry for the bowlers.
02:03They did a very good job restricting the Sri Lankans for 147. And then they regrouped themselves and said that this is going to be your last game.
02:11And I had a chat with them earlier and they said they're looking positive and they would like to finish the tournament on a high note.
02:17And they want to give 100% in this game.
02:21Good shot, Athar has picked up off his legs. First runs for Bangladesh and Jeanette Siddiqui.
02:30It's important for Bangladesh that they started the tournament in a high fashion by beating Western Leeds in the very first game.
02:39So they qualified to the super race. I think as far as that's concerned, I think Bangladesh has done really well in this tournament.
02:43But since then they haven't really showed that they could go a step ahead.
02:47Had the opportunity against Sri Lanka and now have an opportunity to make amends in this game.
03:09The incentive for Pakistan, of course, is that a well not to lose the match at this stage of the tournament, but also Pakistan, if they lose this match, will be on a flight to Durban for their semifinal.
03:23And there's another big match tonight with India taking on South Africa.
03:29It all comes down to run rates. Nicely picked up.
03:34Oh dear, but he didn't even get a hold of it. That was the bottom of the bat.
03:39I just thought for the moment that he'd actually hit it quite nicely, but Bangladesh, they've got to get off to a decent start here, Ali.
03:47Yes, they do, but Jeanette Siddiqui trying to pull off the front foot. That should have been taken.
03:54I thought Ms. Baul Haq was a little bit too late to see that and go back a few steps.
03:59He just looped up and missed his palm just by Yaviska.
04:04Well, it's nicely timed for Siddiqui and this is going to run away for four.
04:13What a good shot that is. Ten off the over.
04:17That is a close call. Pakistan feel that they've got their man.
04:32This is a very close call. In fact, the batter is walking off.
04:38This is a terrific piece of fielding this. He could only have had one stunt to aim at.
04:47Well, Tamim Iqbal is not even stopping back. Look at that. One hundred pick up.
04:54Oh, he's out. Out for sure. That's a really good piece of fielding.
05:01Not for the first time in this tournament, Mohamed Hafiz has been instrumental in a piece of fielding that has got a batsman out.
05:09So, Tamim Iqbal is gone. Bangladesh are 16 for their wicket.
05:17Super shot down the track and bang.
05:20Usually time into this, over to the boundary. Four of the last ball of the over. 27 for one.
05:31Nice looking shot this from tonight. Felt good going off the bat. You see that he doesn't even bother to run.
05:39He knows that that's gone through the gap. Down the pitch.
05:54Shot. Straight down the ground.
05:57A useful boundary for Siddiqui.
06:02That's a fantastic shot. Lessons to be learned for Aftar Ahmed. Youngsters playing his first game.
06:08That's the second time he's gone down the wicket and tried to hit it down the ground as well.
06:13Look at this. Straight back past the bowler. Superb shot. Minimum of effort. And a very good result.
06:22It moves on to 20 now. From 17 deliveries.
06:34Well, it's another four.
06:35Nomad Asif is growing a real variety here. None of it's quick.
06:41Slower ball after slower ball. It's dispatched.
06:45And you know it's taking advantage. And why not? He's been hit down the ground for four. Look at that. That's a slower delivery. On to his legs. Fine leg inside the circle. Easy pickings.
06:57It's not going to make it for the four. Oh, a little bit of balancing there by the skipper. Show of Malik.
07:15Umpire may want to have another look at that. Normally due.
07:22It's 38 for one.
07:26Good looking stroke from Siddiqui. And he's done well. It's not four. It's done very well indeed.
07:38The one has gone very high in the air. And the fieldsman can't get to it.
07:57He's one of those that did go high enough. The fieldsman identifies that and sprints.
08:04And it's always hard to get your eyes level because it's bouncing when you're sprinting.
08:10He couldn't quite get a hand on it. Or I don't think he got a hand to it.
08:13He's one of the better fieldsmen, Imran Nazir. I think he waited a long time trying to judge the flight of the ball.
08:20And then the sprint was on. And by that time it was all too late.
08:23Valiant effort. But in the end, it didn't come to Pakistan's good.
08:29That one out of the middle. Out of the screws.
08:36Incredible catch by one of our spectators here at Newlands. And an incredible shot.
08:43One hell of a hit. Picked up the length very quickly and he was waiting for this back-of-the-length stuff from Swail Tanvir.
08:55Great pick-up shot over mid-wicket.
09:02Trying to attack the bowling air. Bangladesh isn't doing well.
09:05There's a big shot into the gap. Nicely played.
09:17Siddiqui is putting on a show here at Cape Town.
09:23Brilliant effort from him.
09:26The boundary also raises 50 partnership between these two.
09:29And the newcomer has been impressive.
09:33Good platform, really, to hit that big hit over mid-wicket.
09:42Oh, that's a good run. Sneaky run.
09:48They're a young side, Bangladesh.
09:50Siddiqui. Another one of the youngsters.
09:53You've got Ashrafal at 23. And probably the oldest member of the side is about 25.
09:57So, a very young team. Still learning the game.
10:06Siddiqui is 19, 20 next month.
10:08And when you think of a team like, well, my reference point is Australia,
10:12it's pretty hard to get into the side until you're 27, 28 years of age.
10:21Cracking stroke. But I think he's picked out the fieldsman.
10:24He puts it down. And Umar Ghul has knocked it into the rope.
10:29So, good fortune for Siddiqui. Moving on to 48.
10:34But a genuine opportunity.
10:36Afridi not happy at all.
10:38Once again, a straight hit.
10:42Umar Ghul just a little lazy in getting across to that one.
10:47He didn't move across quickly or instantly.
10:56You have to watch this running between the wickets because
10:59it looks like at times Siddiqui is not too sure engaging the run.
11:0374 for one.
11:04This partnership now, uh, making sure that Bangladesh get off, uh,
11:12not only to a good start but end up with a good substantial total on the board.
11:17And that's a 50.
11:35Siddiqui raises the bat.
11:38Haven't been too many of their players able to do that.
11:40And the fans here, Bangladesh fans appreciate this youngster's efforts.
11:45Needed someone at the top of the order to take control.
11:49And, uh, Siddiqui's the man today.
11:52Aftab on strike.
11:58That one will run away.
11:59Nicely placed.
12:06It's, uh, Bangladesh in control here.
12:0877 for one.
12:09And Attar Ali Khan is on the boundary rope.
12:12Thank you, Slats.
12:13We've got, uh, Mashafi Murtaza with me.
12:15Mashafi, first thing.
12:1677 for one.
12:17Good platform.
12:18What is the good total for you to defend?
12:20Uh, Pakistan side is a good side.
12:22I think, uh, 170 is not, not a bad score for us.
12:25170.
12:26I think you can still go ahead with more than 170.
12:28And then, uh, talk us about, a little bit about, uh,
12:31Junet Siddiqui playing his first game.
12:33First 50 in his game.
12:34On his debut.
12:35Good play to start with.
12:36Yeah.
12:37Today is his first match.
12:38He's playing his first match.
12:39And he's starting well.
12:40I think he has make safety.
12:41And, uh, I think he can make some more score.
12:44And, uh, he's a good player.
12:46Yeah.
12:47And with him, Aftab Ahmed.
12:48The man who has been in runs for Bangladesh teams.
12:50He scored a lot of runs.
12:51He's played a subdued role.
12:52But I think he can still kick on.
12:54And then Ashraful and you coming in later.
12:56Good platform for you guys to come.
12:57Yeah, actually, Aftab Ahmed is in good form in the series.
13:00And he's still in the wicket.
13:01So, we are looking forward because Ashraful and Riyadh, Nadip,
13:05all are in the waiting on the wicket.
13:07Uh, thank you, Bhashavi.
13:09Back to you guys.
13:10Oh, wicket there.
13:11Half-ease.
13:12And that's that, uh, little delay in his action.
13:15He might have noticed Aftab coming down.
13:18But, uh, it was probably more of a case of Aftab making the mistake,
13:22trying to hit that one far too hard.
13:24Wasn't able to get going.
13:27He's out for 15.
13:2879 for two.
13:34Also, I think he was looking for a bit of spin.
13:37He was looking to deposit it over mid wicket or long on.
13:40Good piece of stumping from Kamran Agma.
13:42Looked extremely confident when, uh, taking the bails off.
13:47The 3D continuing.
13:53Streaky outside edge.
13:56Ashraful will sprint it back for two.
13:59Good running.
14:00Now a change in the commentary box.
14:02It's the two Ian's.
14:04One Bishop.
14:05One Chapel.
14:06Back up boys.
14:07One sollte of the...
14:08Smaller statute.
14:09In Bangla as she plays.
14:10Troubles generating pace on the ball,
14:11because they're such little men
14:20in the back.
14:21Kind of good stop.
14:22Yes.
14:23One more.
14:24Mating at 5.
14:25In the back.
14:26A five.
14:27In the back.
14:28One more.
14:29One more.
14:30One more.
14:31One more.
14:32Trouble generating pace on the ball because they are such little men against the slower bowling.
14:41Gone.
14:45Ashrafal has given out LBW.
14:48Looks slightly quicker from Afridi.
14:54Disappointment for this crowd.
14:56Ashrafal goes for 5.
14:5784 for 3.
15:02Well, Afridi has been very, very successful in this tournament.
15:09He's not a big spinner of the ball, but he does get a bit of bounce.
15:16He caught the batsman well forward.
15:20It was a long pause before eventually it was given out.
15:26A couple of runs have come off them as well, so a total of 7.
15:29Two no balls as well.
15:32And that'll be out.
15:33This is falling apart here for Bangladesh.
15:36It really is falling apart.
15:40That's the end of Sakibal Hassan.
15:46They're struggling, Bangladesh, as they have all tournament, to continue momentum from the start of the innings.
15:51He goes for 1.
15:5286 for 4.
15:53Well, Huffies has been a pretty useful bowler in these middle overs.
16:05He's very good at predicting what a batsman's going to do and then adjusting.
16:10On that occasion, batsman helped him out.
16:13Just looking to flick the ball on the onside.
16:16He's got a leading edge.
16:17Really disappointing times, except on this occasion.
16:23That's gone high.
16:24It's gone long.
16:24Sadiq has been the star of the day so far for Bangladesh with the bat.
16:31Strikes it well.
16:34Sadiq looks just the opposite.
16:37He looks as though he's got his game well under control.
16:40Knows exactly what he's doing.
16:41And it's important to know what you can do and what you can't do.
16:44And that'll change from day to day.
16:50That'll go as well.
16:51That's gone.
16:52Get the hard hats on.
16:53It's out of here.
16:58So far, Huffies has been very good.
17:03He has this pause in his action and he's able to wait and see what the batsman's going to do.
17:09But it's not working with Sadiq.
17:12On that occasion, he saw him charging.
17:14He pitched in short.
17:16And a terrific adjustment from the tall left-hander.
17:20So Bangladesh, the current rate of 8 would get to 160.
17:24And it's a challenging score on this surface.
17:28Show it, Malik, into the attack.
17:30Now, that'll just drop into the hands, really, of Misbal Hak.
17:37Takes it safely.
17:38He's one of the better fielders in this Pakistan team.
17:41And he's shown a good cricket brain over the course of this tournament.
17:47Five down for Bangalish.
17:51And 1.12 for five.
17:52Well, disappointing end to a very, very good knock.
18:03Quite smart spin bowling there from the skipper.
18:06Hasn't used himself a lot with the ball.
18:08Good catch.
18:09Well judged and well taken in the outfield.
18:11But he didn't give him a lot of room to show it, Malik, when he saw him, the batsman, coming at him.
18:18But that's a very impressive knock from the young man, Sadiq.
18:22No ball.
18:25No ball.
18:26How could show it, Malik, of all people, in this form of the game with a free hit?
18:31Penalty for overstepping the front line.
18:33He was in the wrong spot then, Bish.
18:45He should have been over the other side of the fence.
18:48He's coming around like a train to try to stop it from going over the bones.
18:51He couldn't get there.
18:52It's not six, it's four, young man.
18:57He was in the wrong spot then, Bish.
18:59He should have been over the other side of the fence.
19:01Imran Nazir.
19:03He's coming around like a train.
19:11There was a noise.
19:12There was definitely a noise.
19:15And Chaudhry's gone.
19:18Chaudhry's gone, Malik, two wickets in the over.
19:21Pakistani captain.
19:25Gone for 12, 1.19 for six.
19:33It certainly is falling apart for Bangladesh at one stage.
19:37It looked as though that it would be a very, very competitive total.
19:42Now, they'll do well to just bat out the overs.
19:48Problem, problem, and gone.
19:54It's a smart piece of work from Umar Ghul.
19:59And that's another Bangladesh wicket.
20:01Mahmoudala Riyad is gone.
20:08It's 1.22 for seven.
20:10They're in danger of not using all their overs.
20:12Mahmoudala Riyad gone for one.
20:141.22 for seven.
20:15Pakistani feeling has been very good.
20:24Oh, hitting is bad.
20:25And a bad luck that allowed Umar Ghul a bit of a head start.
20:31Otherwise, it could have been an easy run.
20:33And they're kicking the ball along Umar Ghul, an easy route to get him run out.
20:39Passing the ball on to Umar Ghul to just hit the stumps.
20:46And it was bye-bye.
20:58Hit him straight on the helmet.
21:01Started to back away and Umar Ghul followed him.
21:05And it's hit him flush on the helmet.
21:13Umar Ghul found the target.
21:14It wasn't the stumps, but the helmet drawing away and following the batsman.
21:18It really was a very fine delivery.
21:24You see, Murtazar really didn't have a lot of options.
21:29Drawing away from the line, but the ball caught him.
21:34Bangladesh, the last six overs yielding 35 runs and three wickets.
21:40Somewhat lost their way.
21:41Now, Mohamed Asif comes back in.
21:42He's just got the one to go.
21:44He bowled at very, very gentle pace.
21:47First three.
21:50Bowled him.
21:51Moving all around the crease.
21:53Murtaza.
21:54Murtaza.
21:55And he's got to look at his batting because he hasn't batted well in this tournament.
22:04Slow delivery.
22:06Getting rid of Murtaza for 11.
22:09Bangladesh, eight down for 137.
22:11Really has batted poorly for a player of his talent.
22:19He's got much more talent than that.
22:23Slow ball as well from Murtaza who hasn't exactly extended himself too much physically in this innings.
22:31Look at that.
22:32What is he trying to play there?
22:32Oh, he's got a problem now as well.
22:42Oh, his stay was a very short one.
22:45Murtaza.
22:46Murtaza.
22:47Murtaza.
22:48Murtaza.
22:49Murtaza.
22:50Murtaza.
22:51Murtaza.
22:52Murtaza.
22:53Murtaza.
22:54Murtaza.
22:55Some very good tactics from Bangladesh.
22:57Murtaza.
22:58The entire Pakistan team breaking into a laughter.
23:01It wasn't a wise move from Abdul Razak McLovin.
23:03It was gone for not.
23:05137 for nine.
23:10He's coming down the pitch.
23:11Just can't get back.
23:14Oh dear.
23:15There's a long walk out from the dressing room for about eight seconds stay at the crease.
23:19Whoops.
23:25They were all pleasantly surprised by that move from Abdul Razak, he was going nowhere
23:32with that running.
23:35Syed Rassel is on strike.
23:41That's it.
23:42Rumogol fires in a Yorker and he's pretty useful at that.
23:46Rassel is gone and Bangladesh are 140 all out.
23:53140 here at Newlands Cricket Ground is probably not going to be enough against the talent
23:58of Pakistan, but I have to earmark the Siddiqui innings, the debutant for Bangladesh, is a
24:04very special one and something that he will never forget.
24:07There was no one else really chipping in, so it was the batting here from Bangladesh who
24:11is letting them down.
24:12Now, if we run through that bowling line up, the two bowlers that I will highlight are the
24:16spin bowling, Hafiz two for 27 and two wickets for the captain, Sheld Malik, just slowing up
24:22the pace and making it difficult to score.
24:25Pakistan, it should be a walk in the park given that they've been chasing down scores very
24:30nicely.
24:31We'll see how it goes.
24:32Our first commentators, Alan Wilkins and Ian Chappell.
24:45Oh, that is a nasty blow of midships.
24:50And the boat has sunk.
24:54Is that where you aim the cannon shot, is it, into the midships?
25:00Aye, aye, Skipper.
25:01Oof.
25:02Not a very pleasant feeling.
25:15It's even more unpleasant when everyone around you is laughing and thinking how hilarious it
25:21is.
25:22It looks as though he's heading for the, at least the dugout anyhow.
25:2826 years of age, Mohammed Hafiz comes in after just three deliveries have been bowled.
25:36Old, Imran Nazir retired hurt.
25:52It's got a pretty useful off drive as well.
25:55Stylish player.
25:57At his height of his career, he was one of the quickest around, wasn't he?
26:09One of the genuine fast bowlers in world cricket.
26:12Whoa, hit that like a rocket.
26:14Here we go.
26:16Let's have more of a 3D.
26:18Seven for no wicket.
26:20Oh, here's another reason why it's not a good idea as a fast bowler to pitch up.
26:29Because when they do drive and straight drive, you're likely to be decapitated.
26:34Mortaza almost lost the head there.
26:39He's got hold of it this time.
26:51That is a real clout.
26:55Racel just pitching, pitching way too short.
27:02He seems to have broken his bat with that shot.
27:10It certainly wasn't the speed of the delivery, but it may well have been the speed with which it left the bat.
27:25Straying down the leg side and helped on its way.
27:28That's gone for four.
27:30Very good leg glance.
27:37Batsman realising that fine leg is up.
27:40Just making sure that he got contact.
27:43This outfield is really quickened up this morning.
27:49Well, I have absolutely no sympathy for you then.
27:53Cheerio, cheerio.
27:59Keep your eye on that one.
28:02Here we go.
28:03Afridi's in the groove.
28:06I tell you what, the fans better keep their eye on the game with Afridi batting.
28:12That's travelled a long way considering it didn't go very high.
28:17But boy, did it go quickly.
28:19It's gone into the crowd like a rocket.
28:25It really could hurt somebody if they're not watching.
28:28Same area.
28:33This time it's a four.
28:3517 from the over.
28:4030th no wicket from three.
28:43Nicely played.
28:49Deft touch from Hafiz.
28:51I tell you what, if I was the bowler's in umpire, I'd be noting how quickly that ball went from Shahid Afridi's bat into the crowd.
29:08And I'd be getting very nervous if he decides to hit straight.
29:13At the other end, a little deft touch from Hafiz after the power of Afridi.
29:19He swiped it over deep mid-wicket.
29:27It's gone for four.
29:32Well, he's been hanging out for that for about ten minutes.
29:36Getting down to face the left-armer, Razel.
29:41He didn't waste any time just giving it that little flick with the wrist at the last minute.
29:47To get it away from long on.
29:50Number one here, boys.
29:55Go!
29:56Go!
29:58Go!
29:59Go!
30:00Go!
30:01Go!
30:02Easy, Ash.
30:04Well done.
30:05Well done.
30:06Well done.
30:07Well done.
30:08Well done.
30:09Well done.
30:10Well done.
30:11He's probably lost his chances of getting that record half-century.
30:16Brilliant innings from Uvraj last night.
30:19Six sixes.
30:21Cracked away.
30:23It's going to be a chase to cut this off.
30:26Oh dear.
30:29Saeed Razel the fielder.
30:36Well he made the mistake of coming in, coming around instead of staying along the lines of the boundary.
30:44If he'd have done that he probably would have saved the ball.
30:48But he ran in and then realised it was going a bit harder than he thought.
30:52And had to backtrack.
30:58So Pakistan certainly above Bangladesh at this stage of the innings.
31:02Change of commentary now, Ramiz Raja.
31:05And the speed merchant Ian Bishop.
31:11Wonderful loft.
31:14It's pitched.
31:15It's plugged.
31:16But it'll have the legs to get onto the ropes from Shahid Afridi.
31:2150 up for Pakistan.
31:24Which in itself includes a 50 partnership between these two of the batsmen.
31:28As if he's having an extended net session out there Shahid Afridi.
31:35Wasn't prepared to run for that one.
31:37He thought he did.
31:38He had hit it well enough to go for a four.
31:41Which it eventually did.
31:42But just merely there.
31:45Well he takes no prisoners Shahid Afridi.
31:57Well stop.
32:00He strikes it to two.
32:01Is this a move that you'd like to see in the semi-final Ramiz Shahid Afridi at the top of the innings?
32:07You've got to use his aggression and I think this is what he provides to the team.
32:12And on the day, you know all your plans can go to the waste paper basket when he's on song and form.
32:21And that is what he can bring to the table for Pakistan.
32:24His unpredictability can just about work for Pakistan in the semi-final situation.
32:31You've got four more for these as well.
32:35What an innings.
32:3632 to Shahid Afridi folks.
32:38Guess how many deliveries.
32:3911.
32:40He brings joy and entertainment when he can stay at the crease.
32:46He's enjoying this.
32:47This pace from Syed Russell.
32:51Strike rate of almost 300.
32:55That's the thing Ramiz.
32:56You hit the point there.
32:57I think when he plays against teams with quicker bowlers, he has a weakness against the short ball.
33:03And I think other teams will try to exploit that.
33:05Russell doesn't have the pace.
33:07Nor maybe is it the type of wicket.
33:10Maybe a quicker bowler would have exploited a bit more.
33:12I think that was the reason why he wasn't pushed up the order.
33:18Because in South Africa, you tend to play Afridi down the order because of the bounce in the pitches.
33:26But I think it's got to be used.
33:29I think two or three overs of Shahid Afridi could dent the opposition psychologically.
33:34And, you know, he's got firepower to earn you 20, 30 runs in those few overs that he bats out there.
33:41Now, how far has this gone?
33:44Has it gone far enough?
33:45No, it hasn't.
33:48That is the end of Mohamed Hafiz.
33:50It's a good catch at long off.
33:54Back to this.
33:56Needed to take early wickets.
33:57They haven't done it.
33:59They finally got one.
34:0159 for one.
34:05He'd be disappointed, Hafiz.
34:07It was kind of a reflex shot.
34:08He wasn't really looking for that upish drive.
34:10It just happened.
34:12Spur of the moment.
34:13Because the fielder was there.
34:14He didn't try to hit it too hard.
34:18Just went with the flow.
34:19Scooping the ball in the air.
34:21Could avoid the fielder.
34:23At long off.
34:25I don't think this is quite the game for Salman.
34:27But to be playing if the ones in the gap are his favorite shots.
34:32Yes, certainly not that for Shahid Afridi.
34:34Miles. It's gone.
34:35Miles. It's big.
34:37Not quite 111 meters.
34:40I don't think it quite beats Miss Valhack.
34:44But it is big.
34:45Nor does it beat Bonnie Morko.
34:52He's brilliant to watch Shahid Afridi.
34:55Just a mere flick of the race and the shoulders also coming into play.
34:58It's a 90 meter hit.
35:04From the crease.
35:05Didn't jump out of the crease to hit that one for a six.
35:07That was the first dot ball for Afridi in his short innings.
35:1539 or 14 balls.
35:20Is there a noise?
35:21Yes, there is a noise.
35:22Afridi walks.
35:24Wicket to Razak.
35:27Bangladesh.
35:28You know, you wonder if there's hope for them.
35:30You wonder if it can be worth these fans.
35:33Full of expectation in their final match of this tournament.
35:3666 for 2.
35:37Razak has been good for Bangladesh in this competition because he's got few variations.
35:47He's quick through the air.
35:48Doesn't spin the ball much.
35:49Yes, there's a definite edge and nicely taken by the keeper.
35:52He was jumping up and down in the air because it was a prize scalp of Shahid Afridi.
36:01Two of seven balls for Salman Bhatt.
36:0473 runs needed by Pakistan.
36:0672 balls in which to get them.
36:19Alan Wilkins has a guest with him.
36:22Yes, I do.
36:23I've got Geoff Lawson who's the coach of the Pakistan team.
36:26Geoff, it's 68 for 2.
36:28We've just started the ninth over.
36:29Are you on track?
36:30Oh, very much so.
36:31And, you know, unfortunately, line 40.
36:35Although, that could be a bit of bother there if Unis Karns went out.
36:38That'll be a close goal.
36:40We've got plenty of batting to go anyway.
36:42Let's just go upstairs for the boys for the moment because they can see the third umpire.
36:46Back upstairs for a moment on this stumping.
36:48Yeah, thanks Alan.
36:49It looks as though Musbika Raman thinks it's out.
36:54Great work done by the keeper.
36:55Even if it's not given out, but great reflexes.
36:58The back leg was in the air.
37:00I think it's going to be a close thing for Unis Khan.
37:04The bails are off and the toe was possibly still in the air.
37:13Well, this is touch and go.
37:15Very tight thing for the third umpire.
37:19Decision pending.
37:22And it's out.
37:23Credit to Bangladesh.
37:25And this wicket has got to be credit to the keeper.
37:29Because it was singled wide by the umpire.
37:33Salman Bhada has looked a little bit uneasy.
37:35He's not timed it well.
37:37Just looking for the singles rotating the strike.
37:39But have struggled.
37:40Against the spin.
37:41One, one.
37:42Good stuff, good stuff boys.
37:44It's been interesting to watch Bangladesh Shattar throughout this competition.
38:03They started well.
38:05And a bit like Sri Lanka in a way.
38:07It peaked too early.
38:08And then one loss can lead to another one.
38:11And then all of a sudden you start to question.
38:13Are you taking the right tactics into this style of cricket?
38:18That one worked beautifully.
38:19It was timed beautifully.
38:25So it's the first boundary since Afridi was out there.
38:30And we do love this T20 style of cricket.
38:33Beautiful piece of timing from Shoaib Malik.
38:37Making sure he hit it in the gap.
38:40Good use of the feet.
38:48Now, I wondered where Ian Chappell was.
38:51He's outside there somewhere.
38:52Who have you got Ian?
38:54I've got a former teammate of yours Flats.
38:56Geoff Lawson.
38:57As you were saying before when you were rudely interrupted.
39:00I'm pretty happy with the way.
39:02I guess the consistency must be the thing that makes you most happy.
39:05Yeah, I mean that was one of the keys I think.
39:07Coming into the job was to find some consistency.
39:09And it's not just the fact that we're winning consistently.
39:12It's about how we play and being even in our performance.
39:15I wasn't too impressed with the first half of the dozen overs today.
39:17I thought we lacked some energy there.
39:19And we'll try to do something about that.
39:20But other than that, we've been very consistent with our effort, our energy, and just the way we've gone about the job.
39:26Is it a bit of a problem playing against Bangladesh?
39:28It's almost like playing against your brother, I guess, for Pakistan?
39:31Well, it's a fascinating cultural mix here.
39:33We're two countries that used to be zero countries.
39:35And then we're one country and now we're two countries.
39:37So they're pretty similar in many ways.
39:39And they're a pretty sneaky cricket team because they've got some players that can really play.
39:43And you can't relax against them.
39:45And maybe we did that in the first few overs.
39:47Freddie, what was the idea to get him up to the top of the order?
39:51Well, he just hasn't been facing too many deliveries.
39:53He had a little cameo against Scotland.
39:56And that's about his only real innings for the whole competition.
40:00And he was keen to do it.
40:01Get up and open.
40:02He's used to opening.
40:03Hasn't done it for a couple of years.
40:04But, you know, he's good to see he got a hit.
40:07I guess he might have also had in mind that he'd like to beat that 50 off 12 balls that you've wrote Scott the other night.
40:13That would have taken some beating, particularly the way you've just hit him.
40:17But he's hit the ball pretty well.
40:18Okay.
40:19Now the wicket has fallen.
40:20Back to you guys in the commentary box.
40:22Thanks for that, guys.
40:23Yes, another wicket has fallen.
40:25Four down now, Pakistan.
40:26And Alaraid, the bowler, is getting some reward for some accurate bowling.
40:34Pakistan batsmen are trying to work it around.
40:36But that's his first wicket.
40:38And gives Pakistan maybe just a little bit of hope.
40:42If they can get the wicket of the new batsmen, then Pakistan might get a little concerned.
40:48Right on the boundary rope, that catch.
40:50Nicely taken.
40:51Yes.
40:52Fingers got up.
40:53Murtaza's got his man.
40:54And the data man, Isbar ul Haq, is on the way back.
41:07Pakistan are five down.
41:08It's 106 for five.
41:10They're cheering for Bangladesh.
41:12Mesbar ul Haq goes for one.
41:13One goes six for five.
41:14First ball dismissal.
41:15That's been a rarity because Mesbar ul Haq has been so good with the bat.
41:29Just a little lazy in getting around that one.
41:32And that one would have gone on to it.
41:33The leg stumps.
41:34So good decision by the umpire.
41:35Just...
41:36Could be out.
41:37Could be out.
41:38Oh, he was late coming in for it.
41:39Mahmoud Ula-Riyadh is the fielder.
41:40Sliced off the outside edge.
41:41He was taken in the field against India.
41:46Playing a similar kind of a shot caught on the rope at point.
42:03And here was another opportunity.
42:06A difficult one.
42:07Always difficult really to dive forward and get to the ball.
42:10But the host nation has not lost a match yet.
42:15Look at that.
42:16They could be out.
42:17If India win and they win well tonight.
42:19Huge game in Durban.
42:30And I think that the momentum is with...
42:33With Pakistan...
42:34With India well.
42:36They've gone for the appeal.
42:37Salman but caught napping.
42:39And Salman but is caught napping.
42:48He's out.
42:49Officially out now.
42:52And Pakistan are making it very interesting.
42:54And mouth-watering now for Bangladesh.
43:02There's a man there.
43:03There's a man there.
43:04But he's just a spectator that's gone into the seats.
43:07That's a bad ball from Riyad.
43:12Too short.
43:13Mortaza back on now from the Kelvin Grove end.
43:17Oh slip would have patched it.
43:19And it's run down there for four.
43:22That's bad luck on the bowler.
43:23But that's one of the nuances of 2020 cricket.
43:26That has just made it.
43:38Nazir, danger man coming back in.
43:41That shot there has just ensured that Pakistan will be staying in Keita for the Sens.
43:51Next 2020 World Cup or World Championship will be in England.
43:55I hope it's a warmer summer than this year.
43:58These should be the winning runs.
44:01Inrun Nazir hits the winning runs.
44:05And Pakistan won this match by four wickets.
44:09Pakistan 141 for six.
44:11And Bangladesh have gone down here in Cape Town.
44:14Surprising that it took Pakistan the 19 overs to chase down 140 at times.
44:23They were lacklustre.
44:24But their intensity did increase towards the end.
44:27And it was very interesting also to see that Afridi was opening their batting.
44:31Siddiqui was a standout for Bangladesh.
44:33And he will never forget his debut in this T20 tournament.
44:38So Pakistan.
44:39They know where they're playing their semi-final.
44:41It's here in Cape Town.
44:42They get a couple of days rest.
44:43But Bangladesh have a greater understanding after this tournament
44:46of where they sit in international cricket.
44:48And can learn a lot from that.
44:50It's been a busy day here in Cape Town.
44:52But for now it's goodbye.
