00:09will run from Friday the 5th of September to Friday the 12th, as announced by the Rail
00:15Maritime and Transport Union. RMT says London Underground Management had refused to engage
00:24seriously with its members' demands on pay fatigue management, shift patterns and a potential
00:31reduction in the working week. The tube strike will be accompanied by a separate strike on
00:38London's Dockland Light Railway, which will run during the week beginning the 7th of September.
00:46RMT General Secretary Eddie Dempsey said their members were doing a fantastic job to keep
00:55the capital moving and work strenuous shift patterns to make sure Londoners get to their
01:02destinations around the clock. He added they are not after a king's ransom, but fatigue
01:09and extreme shift rotations are serious issues impacting on their members' health and wellbeing,
01:18all of which have not been adequately addressed for years by London Underground Management,
01:26according to the union. While a TfL spokesperson said we regularly meet with our trade unions
01:33to discuss any concerns that they may have, and we recently met with the RMT to discuss some
01:42specific points.
