00:00A good Thursday holiday evening to all. Yours truly, Gabrielle Lopez here, and glad to bring you PTV News Now and tops on our stories for this evening.
00:13Kindergarten learners up to graduate students have something to smile and feel good about.
00:18Earlier today, the Department of Education, or DepEd, officially kicked off its program for train-riding students in the megacity, granting them a half-fair or 50% discount on their commutes to school or the MRT3 and LRT railway lines.
00:35The fair discount, which went in effect in June 3, this year, affords all students from kindergarten to graduate school, as well as ALS learners, to pay only half the regular rate of each train ride to their train station stops or destinations on unlimited trips.
00:51Students need only to present their valid identification cards to avail of the privilege.
00:56DepEd Chief Sonny Angara said the program provides immediate relief and savings to students who commute to school, which also boosts motivation to attend classes, while broadening access to education.
01:08Likewise, Angara vowed to promulgate the programs, launching the increased awareness in both home and campus.
01:15This train-fare discount-for-student program extends until 2028.
01:20With the eyes of the world fixed on Gaza and the worsening humanitarian crisis unfolding there, little attention has been paid to the other Palestinian enclave in the West Bank,
01:32where Israelis, with full endorsement from the Netanyahu coalition government, have been ramping up attacks and pushing out long-time Palestinian settlers.
01:40Stepped up military campaigns, harassment at Israeli checkpoints, increased violent attacks by Israeli civilians, and forced displacement of tens of thousands of Palestinian settlers and refugees have surged since the heinous October 2023 Hamas attack on Israeli towns in Kabut Zims.
01:59All the while, Israelis have steadily taken up land for expanded Jewish settlements, which for decades Israel did not dare over pushback from the U.S. and United Nations,
02:11both of whom declared encroachment on the West Bank as illegal and an obstacle to peace.
02:16Earlier today, however, Netanyahu's finance minister and pro-West Bank settlement advocate Bezalel Smotrich announced the approval for a settlement project in the West Bank
02:27that would technically kick out thousands more Palestinians from their homes and put an end to any hopes of a two-state solution,
02:34which over 145 nations see as the only path for lasting peace between Israel and the Palestinians.
02:43At this moment, let's shift focus to my colleague in PTV's Bagu City Studios for what's brewing of late in the Cordilleras. Audrey?

04:16Sigun iti Commission on Population and Development Cordillera,

04:27Bimuntog butla ang ti growth rate iti tunggal probinsya kas iti Abrakan Mountain Province.
