Advanced rigging in Blender means building smart, animator-friendly rigs with IK/FK systems, constraints, shape keys, custom drivers, and automation that allow characters or objects to be animated efficiently, realistically, and with creative flexibility.

Do you want me to break this down into a step-by-step learning roadmap (beginner → advanced), or do you want just the advanced techniques list for direct practice?

00:01So what is rigging?
00:03Literally, rigging regroups all the elements, rigid or smooth, that allow something to be moved or deformed.
00:11On a boat, it can be the sails, the ropes, or even the people that are driving the boat.
00:18In 3D, we oftenly associate rigging with character rigging,
00:24creating a skeleton that will allow us to deform and animate a character.
00:30In Blender, for example, it can be this cube parented to this sphere,
00:35so that whenever we move the sphere, the cube will follow.
00:38Or it can be a curve with different empties and a hook modifier,
00:43that allow us to move and deform the curve.
00:46Or it can be any kind of input, such as a modifier,
00:51that allow us to set a transformation to an object.
00:55In this course, we'll be focusing on character rigging using an armature modifier.
01:01But in the end, you should be able to rig anything else.
01:05It can be a character, a car, anything you want to move.
01:10The thing you have to know before we get started,
01:12is that rigging is searching multiple ways to solve a mechanism.
01:17So there will be a lot of trials and errors.
01:20Even if in this course, I know what I'm doing,
01:24so I don't get into a lot of error,
01:26I've repeated this a lot of time.
01:29And whenever you start rigging, you will do a lot of error.
01:34So don't get stuck and try to comprehend what you are doing.
01:38For one type of mechanism, there could be multiple ways to rig it.
01:43What I will show you is what I'm using currently in my professional life for video games character.
01:51So don't be afraid to fail.
01:53Generally, when you rig something, you tend to add more and more functions.
01:58And every time you create a new function, you will create new bugs.
02:03So the way we improve a rig is currently by adding new possibilities, creating new bugs and trying to solve them.
02:14So rigging is mainly solving problems.
02:17So you need to be as organized as possible.
02:21Name everything along the way.
02:23It's very important.
02:25Even if you feel like it's not super important to name a bone right after you have created it,
02:32I truly encourage you to follow me in the course and name correctly everything and organize correctly everything along the way.
02:41Name everything along the way.
