00:35indoors and then they did like only like one or two competitive periods outside offense versus
00:40defense i mean they've got the joint practice coming up later this week against the jaguars on
00:44thursday and then of course they have uh the game on saturday and they had just gotten back from 10
00:49or 11 days on the road been a weird schedule for them but i mean for the players we spoke to i mean
00:56not to brag but i asked nick westbrook akine a question today in the press conference i mean

01:08one question to nick westbrook akine oh it was phenomenal it was the last question of the uh of
01:12the scrum respectable you let everybody else the the reporters were there daily you let him go of

01:23everybody else gets their question and then i swoop in at the end i'm very courteous of you
01:28so what was there was today too by the way i did i did see that yeah we're gonna get to it in a second
01:33what was your uh what was your question to nick westbrook akine to be quite honest appell
01:38haven't really heard much about him like he was kind of one of the bigger signings for the dolphins over
01:44the uh over the offseason period um and you i i'm not saying that he can't produce but you would agree
01:53right like throughout training camp and certainly in the the first two preseason games you haven't
01:58heard he didn't play in the second you haven't heard much about nick westbrook akine if anything
02:02at all well it from what we've seen from mike mcdaniel over the last few years if you are someone who's
02:08locked into a spot outside of a position here or there you're not going to get much run in the
02:14preseason i mean this is a guy that last year with the titans with their quarterback issues a third
02:20about a third of his receptions went for touchdowns he had nine touchdowns out of his 32 catches
02:25he's got at least three the last four years he's been a solid receiver uh for tennessee so i just
02:31asked him you know what was appealing about coming to miami and of course he gives the answer about we
02:35got two great skill guys got a good quarterback good play caller all that good stuff and that uh
02:40wound up with him becoming a miami dolphin he's an undrafted guy talked a little bit about that from
02:452020 um yeah listen i think he's a solid red zone target for the dolphins they obviously lost their
02:52best red zone target from last year in john o's smith i feel like uh nick westbrook akine could
02:57provide some value there but uh darren waller who many expect well i don't know if anybody expects it
03:03at this point the guy hasn't taken one practice rep yet but he was out there today standing on the
03:07sideline which i guess isn't encouraged right because he's not on the public yeah he did not practice
03:13drew rosenhouse said on uh channel 7 i think last night or the night before he'll be ready he'll be
03:20ready for for week one against the indianapolis colts right which all right i'll i'll believe that when
03:27i see it um i don't know what darren waller's gonna look like at this offensive he's not out there i would
03:33imagine uh nick westbrook akine could be uh one of their main red zone threats in the army's 6-2-2-10 so
03:39so like we had uh we had isaiah smalls on yesterday from the miami herald and basically he was saying
03:45that the approach from the dolphins from mike mcdaniel not his approach but that what he he
03:50believes is the approach is that mike mcdaniel said he and and we heard the comments mike mcdaniel
03:56doesn't want to just put him out there in a joint practice for his first go around after not playing in
04:04a season right he didn't play last year you want to put him out there and um isaiah smalls is
04:10basically making the argument that what they want to do is like slow play him back so he's expecting
04:18him not to get any reps this week in joint practice either and not to get any playing time on saturday
04:26in the final regular season game but then following that activate him off the pup list and let him get
04:32like a full two weeks of practice before like whatever weekend a couple days before that first
04:38game against indy and i'm thinking how does that make any sense like his first his first action is
04:45going to be against the colts like that's what you're going to do you're just going to throw him
04:49in the fire game one so he's not ready to go in a joint practice limited limited contact limited reps
04:56in a joint practice you can put him in one of those uh non-contact jerseys but you're just going
05:02to throw him out there against the indianapolis colts week one i i if if that is the plan i don't
05:08understand that i can't wrap my head around that yeah they want to ease him in don't want to throw
05:14him right into some intense joint practices so his first intense reps will be in a game that counts
05:20makes total sense yeah if that is the plan um you saw who the dolphins will be facing week one

07:43sure he got hurt against miami down here in 2023 and that kind of started the the avalanche of
07:49pushing daniel jones out from the giants i i do not understand what the colts are doing here
07:57shane steichen obviously thinks that he's got a better chance of saving his job with daniel jones
08:02and he's out he's out he's out on anthony like can we all agree he's just he's out on anthony
08:07richardson right shane steichen does not think anthony richardson is going to be a good nfl
08:12quarterback whether he's right or wrong i don't know but every opportunity he gets to go away from

08:23drafted him in the top five he's dealt with some injury issues he's clearly got all the talent in the
08:28world if he can hone it a little bit but how can you hone it if you don't play i was watching uh
08:33a clip from get up this morning and dan orlovsky made this point you look at bo nicks who played
08:39almost 6 000 snaps between college and going to the nfl jaden daniels over 4 000 snaps between college
08:46going to the nfl anthony richardson has played something like 1500 snaps he needs reps he needs
08:52to play and i i understand and i that this this quote always stuck with me about anthony richardson
08:58and i've used this on the show before when we talk about him he's a guy that can make throws that 95
09:05percent of quarterbacks cannot make but he also fails to make throws that 95 percent of quarterbacks in the
09:13nfl can make he is such an enigma back there but he needs to play he needs to play the skill set is
09:20absolutely there and i could understand if shane steichen and the colts they start anthony richardson
09:27two three four games he struggles it doesn't look great and then they turn to daniel jones and that's
09:34it starting daniel jones right from the jump you're telling anthony richardson like hey we're done with
09:41you and at the first chance we get we're drafting another quarterback but but appell joe flacco
09:48got the opportunity over anthony richardson midway through the season last year and now they're
09:55saying daniel jones like think about the list of guys yeah who they're saying we'd rather give our
10:00our team a chance with this guy over you at a certain point you you've got a you just gotta i think
10:08kick the tires on anthony richardson in indianapolis just let him go somewhere else trade him if anything
10:14because if you're saying joe flacco at 78 years old last year gives you a better chance i guess the
10:20browns are saying the same thing gives you a better chance to win football games than anthony
10:23richardson and i know he was he was a little banged up last year he had to miss a game or two but even
10:28when he came back they replaced him with with joe flacco and then this year you're saying hey the guy
10:34that the giants were like we'll pay you money to leave that's who we think is better and gives us a
10:39better opportunity to win that is that's hard to swallow if you're anthony richardson and you also
10:46have to think that chris ballard shane steichen when they made this pick they knew how raw he was
10:53they knew he had to play it's not a surprise that he's a very raw quarterback everybody knew that
10:59coming out of florida with anthony richardson every single person either you sit him when he first
11:05gets there and you let him learn or you let him play through all of his mistakes unfortunately a
11:10couple of injuries have gotten in the way of that but how else do you know like you know what daniel
11:15jones is there is no chance that team is doing any kind of winning this year with daniel jones
11:24playing quarterback zero zero i wonder did the line move at all yesterday we were checking out the
11:30line dolphins were plus one on the road in indianapolis i want i'm gonna check it out right now i
11:35wonder if daniel jones moves the line negatively i guess or positively i mean i doubt it they were
11:43already one and a half point dogs which again makes no sense to me no no they were yes yesterday on hard
11:49rock bet because we we looked this up specifically yesterday they were one point dogs yesterday at at
11:56five o'clock they were one point dogs let's see nfl few more bets week one
12:03dolphins plus one and a half now so so daniel jones the daniel jones news moved the line in favor of
12:18the indianapolis colts half a point someone's gonna have to explain that one to me the dolphins
12:25are are plus 105 on the money line i think they were plus 110 earlier today um i would not be surprised if
12:32by the time we get to kick off on september 7th uh the dolphins are favored in that game what the hell
12:37is that all about man that makes no sense if there was if there was one game where i'm not concerned
12:44about our cornerbacks and and and who's playing db it's against daniel jones i i saw him the other
12:50day uh throwing past the first down marker like past 10 yards the guy has absolutely no ability
12:58to make a play just zero ability to make a play there was talks that the vikings really wanted to
13:04keep daniel jones but he left to pursue an opportunity like this where he thought he could
13:07play and great for daniel jones man like you won the job you get to be a starting quarterback again
13:11in this league but man i i think it's a really really short-sighted move by the colts because
13:17again if you start anthony richardson first three games you're one and two or oh and three okay fine
13:24you gave him a chance didn't go great so let's see what daniel jones can dig you out of a hole
13:30but now you're i just i i don't i don't understand i i really do not get it anthony richardson made a
13:37throw in the second preseason game the other day that was unbelievable free blitz are off the edge
13:43he avoids it ball over the top deep drops right in the bucket elite stuff elite stuff from the guy
13:49daniel jones they're making that play now daniel jones gonna hit his checkdowns
13:55appellate they're picking daniel jones over anthony richardson like i it's not it's not he's not a
14:01rookie it's the third season in the nfl if he can't beat out daniel jones that that to me is like a
14:07sign man i'm sorry i i i like anthony richardson i was rooting for him genuinely i was glad he got
14:12to start his uh his rookie season he he looked effing awesome at times rookie season before he
14:19got hurt and last year i was rooting for him again if he can't beat out daniel jones
14:23either shane steikin hates him or it's pretty obvious who he is and and it's not a an nfl starting
14:32caliber quarterback i think i think you can't beat out daniel jones come on man yeah i mean that that
14:40that's really what it boils down to right we also don't know the circumstances of what that battle
14:43was like uh how the reps were split what i know i know the circumstances you have to beat out daniel
14:49jones that's it go beat out daniel jones it's funny because daniel jones is more playoff wins than the
14:55dolphins have in my lifetime really does not sit right with me really does not sit right with me
