In this insightful lecture, Dr. Zakir Naik sheds light on the historical and spiritual truth that Islam spread peacefully through its message of justice, compassion, and truth. He clarifies that Islam was not spread by force, but through its strong moral values, trade, social justice, and the exemplary character of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his followers. Dr. Naik also addresses common misconceptions and explains how Islam continues to attract people worldwide because of its message of peace and guidance for humanity.
00:00Today, in India, more than 75% are non-Muslims. 75%. If we Muslims wanted at that time, we could have forced every non-Muslim to accept Islam at the point of the sword. We didn't do it.
00:18If we had done that, there wouldn't have been more than 75% non-Muslims. These 75% non-Muslims of India, they are giving shahada, they are bearing witness that Islam was not spread by the sword.
00:32At that time, when we ruled India for a thousand years, the Muslims, if they wanted, they could have forced every non-Muslim to accept Islam. But they didn't do it. Because Islam does not give permission. Islam says, there is no compulsion in religion.
00:48So, these more than 75% non-Muslims of India today are giving shahada, they are bearing witness that Islam wasn't spread by the sword.
01:01Which Muslim army went to Indonesia today? According to statistics, Indonesia has the maximum number of Muslims in one country. According to India, about 229 million Muslims in Indonesia.
01:18Or 249 or 240 million or 240 million. In India, the government says 215 million. 14.3%. According to me, it's much more. More than 280 million. More than 20% are Muslims.
01:36But even if you agree. So, Indonesia, which is theoretically supposed to be the country which has maximum number of Muslims in the world.
01:45I am asking you a question. Which Muslim army went to Indonesia? Which Muslim army went to Malaysia? Which Muslim army went to the east coast of Africa?
01:53To Senegal. Later on, the Britishers come. And they play games.
02:15And they play games. So, these countries are giving shahada that Islam was not spread by the sword.
02:25Which sword? Thomas Carlyle. He writes in his book, Heroes and Hero Worship.
02:30That you should first get your sword. Every new idea initially begins in the mind of one. In one man, in the full world alone.
02:42And if one man alone propagates and picks up the sword, it will be no benefit.
02:48First, you have to get the sword. Which sword is Thomas Carlyle talking about?
02:53He's talking about the sword of the intellect.
02:56I started my talk. My quoting was of the Quran of Surah Nihal chapter number 16.
03:00He was wondering how he says,
03:02Invite all to the way of their Lord with wisdom and will be preaching.
03:10And argue with them. And reason with them.
03:13In the ways that are best Muslim Christians.
03:15It's the sword of the intellect.
03:18It's not the sword of steel.
03:20Even if you had the sword of steel, you could not use it.
03:24Allah says in Surah Baqra chapter 2 verse 256.
03:27Laikra fiddeen.
03:28There is no compulsion in religion.
03:30Truth stands out clear from error.
03:31Anyone who holds and grasps the hand of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala,
03:36he will take you from darkness to light.
03:39There is no compulsion in religion.
03:41It is the sword of intellect.
03:43Sword of hikmah.
03:44And today, we find that the fastest growing religion in the world today,
03:52in America, it's Islam.

04:33I am asking you the question,

04:41which converted or increased the number of Muslims all over the world?
04:46Which war?
04:47235 percent.
04:50Islam?
04:51Only 47 percent.
04:53That means five times more.
04:56Five times.
04:5847
04:59multiplied by five
05:01is 235.
05:02Islam spread five times more than Christianity in these 50 years.
05:07Which war took place in these 50 years
05:09with forced non-Muslims to become Muslims?
