00:00It really sodifies why I have been so focused on illegal guns off our streets.
00:10And lawmakers are going to say, let's catch up with this resort.
00:17You remove 22,000 illegal guns off our streets, and there's an endless flow in our city
00:26that individuals can suit the nightclub patrons with several different bullets for use.
00:37It appears as though there were several guns involved.
00:42And we're going to need New Yorkers to assist.
00:46Someone saw something. Someone knows who was inside that night.
00:54And we're going to need the support to bring them to justice.
00:57Because if they remain on the streets, the act of violence will remain on the streets.
01:03And we have reason to believe that gangs were involved.
01:07And that is why we have been focusing with the district attorneys to really take down illegal guns.
01:16Over half of the shootings we have in the city involve those who carry or those who are part of gangs.
01:25That is one of our most important focuses.
01:28So when the city council wants to take away gang databases, they hurt us.
01:35When we have a revolving door criminal justice system that allows people to carry guns to come back out on the street, they hurt us.
01:43When we pass legislation that ties up police officers from doing their job, they hurt us.
01:50And they need to be here at this crime scene to see how the actions that happen in their legislative chambers
02:00impacts the lives of people on the street.
02:03Yes, and that's why I spoke with the A-Team Mitchell for Man Up and our crisis management partners.
02:12Important.
02:13And our teams have been mobilized to the hospitals.
02:16Brookdale, Malani's, and the other participating hospitals for the families are to go about attempting to alleviate and not eradicate any retaliatory shooting.
02:31That is a real concern because it can follow a gang-related shooting or any shooting.
02:39Every morning we meet with a group called HIDA.
02:44It includes city, state, and federal law enforcement entities.
02:49Prosecutors are there.
02:51Our partners are there also in the room.
02:54We are already collaborating.
02:56But there is a place the federal government can help us.
03:00They can stop the flow of guns into our city.
03:04We don't manufacture guns.
03:06We've done a great job in taking off the streets over 22,000 guns.
03:12So there's obvious to us there's a steady flow of guns.
03:17So that's the partnership we want to really examine.
03:20How do we do more with HIDA and our federal partners to stop the flow of guns on our streets?
03:27So I could easily talk about the lowest number of shootings in the last seven months and shooting victims.
03:34I can talk about that, but that is no consolation to this family.
03:39So partnerships on the federal level, I believe those partnerships are important.
03:44We're doing that every morning at 10 a.m. in HIDA.
03:47But I think there's more our federal partners can do to stop the flow of guns in New York City.
03:53No.
03:54And after something like this happens, you want to give the family and the victims an opportunity to free.
04:00And then you will reach out.
04:03Our crisis management team, Pastor Rose, or my faithful office.
04:09They are giving the family the assistance that they need.
04:14But you really want to give them that opportunity.
04:16It's a shock to be the victim of a shooting.
04:21And it compounds when you lose a level.
04:24So we want to use all of our services through our faith-based community and through our crisis management team to give them the services.
04:36And as I stated, we have the hospitals now speaking to the family members, finding out what they need.
04:42We have a victim service at the Ramses that's going to be there to help those who need funeral arrangements and any other support that they need.
04:51So there's a whole body of people that are going to be there to assist with that.
04:57Well, at this point, the investigation is ongoing.
05:01We're going to find out what actions they did to contribute to this.
05:06We're going to find out were any searches in place.
05:09And we're going to allow anyone from the building department, to the Department of Health,
05:15and the hygiene, to the police department, all to come together to determine which should be the next step.
