00:00:00Possible tribute, a Liverpool win and a thrilling one by four goals to two.
00:00:07Peter and Jamie, as we were both saying, the slot machine may not be well-oiled at the moment,
00:00:13but they take all three points with two late goals.
00:00:17Did we see from that performance what the champions are going to do well this season
00:00:22and where they need to work on, Gary?
00:00:24I like that type of football, imperfect, where you take chances.
00:00:30Obviously, I think when he made the substitutions and Endo came off as right-back,
00:00:34he just looked a little bit open, particularly down this side,
00:00:37but thrilling going forward, look a little bit open at the back.
00:00:41I don't think we can criticise that because that's, I think, all we'll see in football,
00:00:45games like that where both teams are going for it.
00:00:48First game of the season as defending champions, is it just win at all costs
00:00:54or are you looking for a performance?
00:00:55I think get over the line.
00:00:56Look, the performance was never going to be perfect tonight, obviously.
00:00:59There are a lot of players getting themselves used to playing in the Liverpool shirt,
00:01:03but same for Bournemouth as well.
00:01:04They put up a great show, but you're right.
00:01:07They won the game, Liverpool.
00:01:08You felt as though they were going to win the game before it happened
00:01:10and they just stepped up a little bit of a gear in the end
00:01:13and Mo Salah scored a great goal.
00:01:16And a very emotional Mohamed Salah as the Liverpool fans, as one,
00:01:22continue to sing Diogo Jota's name here in the stands
00:01:26and lift aloft the banners bearing the name of their number 20.
00:01:32The shirt number has been retired at all levels within Liverpool
00:01:37in men's and women's teams.
00:01:39And as they sing his name, he'll be remembered tonight,
00:01:43but he'll be remembered in the years to come as well.
00:01:46The player who was signed in 2020,
00:01:48who helped Liverpool to their 20th league title,
00:01:51who wore the number 20 shirt.
00:01:55And we need to remember, Gary, that these players,
00:01:58in their own different ways,
00:02:01will be grieving their teammate,
00:02:03will be grieving their friend as the season goes on.
00:02:05Diogo Jota said on World Mental Health Day
00:02:08that when he crossed the line,
00:02:09that was a place where he could forget his troubles
00:02:12and he could put them behind him.
00:02:13It's not going to be the same for all players.
00:02:16We do take part in these mental health campaigns.
00:02:20Is this a time for us to show that level of real practical understanding
00:02:24rather than just empty words?
00:02:26Yeah, and you've just seen there an outpouring of emotion from Mo Salah.
00:02:30And I think it's going to be like that for Liverpool players,
00:02:33staff, fans throughout the season.
00:02:35It's just going to hit them at moments, during games,
00:02:38at the end of games, after victories, after defeats,
00:02:40and recognise that they've got their teammate, their colleague,
00:02:43someone that they loved, basically not with them anymore.
00:02:45And it's incredibly sad.
00:02:48And obviously what we've just seen there from Mo Salah was really special.
00:02:51As part of all that emotion, there is, of course,
00:02:56the joy of winning the football match,
00:02:58the joy of winning the game,
00:03:00right at the late stages with those two late goals
00:03:03from Chiesa and from Mohamed Salah.
00:03:06But early on in the match,
00:03:08it was Hugo Eketike on his debut with the goal,
00:03:11with the assist.
00:03:12Only the second player to do that on their Liverpool debut
00:03:15to get a goal and an assist after Darwin Nunez three years ago.
00:03:18So how impressed were you with his performance?
00:03:21I thought he looked really good.
00:03:23I think we can talk about the goal,
00:03:24which is obviously a great moment,
00:03:26where he just gets that little bit of a ricochet at half-time.
00:03:29It reminded me of Luis Suarez,
00:03:30the way in which you get that little bit of a break
00:03:32that you deserve when you're positive and you run at people.
00:03:35I thought he was really good on the second goal,
00:03:36where he holds it up and just pops it off.
00:03:38So he's demonstrated that he can drop in,
00:03:40he can score goals, he can run past people,
00:03:43he can bring teammates into play.
00:03:45He looks a real talent.
00:03:46And obviously, we think that Isak's going to come to Liverpool
00:03:49in this next couple of weeks,
00:03:50but he's going to have real competition there.
00:03:53Well, the Premier League weekend is up and running

00:05:04But here at Anfield,
00:05:09the champions are up and running with a victory,
00:05:11a goal and an assist for Cody Gakpo
00:05:13for Hugo Ekotique.
00:05:15They played themselves back into it,
00:05:17Bournemouth, to make it 2-0,
00:05:18but Federico Chiesa and Mo Salah
00:05:20made it 4-2 to Liverpool.
00:05:23But it started with Ekotique,
00:05:24and round here, they think Hugo's boss.
00:05:26Let's come together and pray again.

00:09:19Yep.
00:09:1948 Mobile.
00:09:21It's a big yep.
00:09:23Back in the day, if you wanted a picture of yourself,
00:09:25this was the only option.
00:09:27Be still.
00:09:28Forget this.
00:09:29Way easier.
00:09:30Same with shoes.
00:09:31You just have to bend down and struggle.
00:09:33But there's an easier way.
00:09:34With hands-free sketches, slippings,
00:09:36I just step in and go.
00:09:37No bending down.
00:09:38I never have to touch my shoes.
00:09:40Step out of the dark ages and step into sketches, slippings.
00:09:42Pringles, a taste you can't let go.

00:10:30It's almost like left it behind for Salah.
00:10:41And Salah can dab it in.
00:10:42And Petrovic intervene.
00:10:44And it came to Piazza.
00:10:48Alistair Chaser here and he's winning.
00:10:51James Hill has a problem.
00:10:52It's Mo Salah!
00:11:07Mo Salah just loves scoring on the opening weekend of the season.
00:11:11He got Liverpool's fourth in that 4-2 victory over Bournemouth.
00:11:1519 shots for Liverpool.
00:11:17Ten of them on target.
00:11:19They've only had more shots on target in one game at Anfield.
00:11:22That was also against Bournemouth and it was last season.
00:11:25XG of just over two.
00:11:26More touches in the opponent's box than Bournemouth.
00:11:29But not by too much.
00:11:30More passes in the final third.
00:11:32And just short of two-thirds of the possession.
00:11:35Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher are here.
00:11:40Let's take a look at the third goal.
00:11:42Because at that stage, it felt like either Liverpool were heading for a draw.
00:11:46Bournemouth might be able to get a winner.
00:11:47And then Federico Chiesa stepped up with the goal.
00:11:50Yeah, and I famously said on commentary,
00:11:52this is a strange decision by the manager, bringing Vert off.
00:11:55Chiesa, who hasn't really done too much in Liverpool's shape for me anyway.
00:11:59But that is just a magical moment for him.
00:12:01How many players over the years have had that moment
00:12:03where you get that last-minute winner
00:12:05in front of the Kop
00:12:07and he's just in the right place at the right time.
00:12:09Initially, I thought he'd misshitted,
00:12:11but he's actually fallen away from the ball
00:12:12and he gets a really good contact on it in the end.
00:12:16You'll see it from this position here.
00:12:18His body's in there
00:12:20and maybe the goalkeeper's a little unsighted as well
00:12:22because it doesn't go in with any great pace.
00:12:25But when you think falling away,
00:12:26he actually catches it really well into that far corner
00:12:28and then the Kop erupts with that song.
00:12:31You did say how many goals have we seen scored
00:12:33at the Kop end for Liverpool
00:12:35in the last minutes of games.
00:12:37How many times have you seen Mohamed Salah do it?
00:12:40Because he added to his telly as well.
00:12:42Yeah, and I mean,
00:12:43the best thing about this goal wasn't the actual finish.
00:12:46It was the run.
00:12:47This now, going from right wing to left wing
00:12:50in the dying minutes,
00:12:51whether it's to close someone down,
00:12:52make it difficult,
00:12:53and then he gets his joy.
00:12:54I was actually thinking as he was coming inside,
00:12:56he has to pass.
00:12:57The amount of players Liverpool have got coming forward,
00:12:59but on that right foot,
00:13:01and he's desperate to score
00:13:02because it was the opening day of the season.
00:13:05And as we said,
00:13:06he does love scoring on the opening day of the season,
00:13:09and Mohamed Salah gets that all-important goal
00:13:12that takes him on to 187 goals.
00:13:15He's now level with Andy Cole,
00:13:17and he's joint fourth
00:13:18in the all-time Premier League goalscorer's history.
00:13:22And, you know,
00:13:23potentially Harry Kane could be back
00:13:24to add to his numbers.
00:13:26Also adding to his numbers,
00:13:27Hugo Eketike.
00:13:28Hi, Hugo Kelly.
00:13:29Nice to meet you.
00:13:30Congratulations on your Premier League debut.
00:13:33A goal and an assist.
00:13:35How pleased were you
00:13:36with your opening performance in the Premier League?
00:13:39Yeah, obviously it was,
00:13:40I think, good performance.
00:13:42I could do better.
00:13:44But, yeah,
00:13:44the most important tonight,
00:13:46I think it's the winning,
00:13:47the mentality we showed.
00:13:49Obviously,
00:13:50we wanted to win
00:13:52for the people who came tonight
00:13:55and for Jogo.
00:13:57And I think that's what we did,
00:13:59so I'm happy for everybody.
00:14:01And you talk about the mentality,
00:14:03but also about wanting to improve
00:14:05on your own performances.
00:14:06It's only your first game in the league,
00:14:09but what are you thinking
00:14:10in terms of what are you working on?
00:14:13You know,
00:14:13I have so much things to do better,
00:14:15but I think
00:14:16I help the team
00:14:18as I can, you know.
00:14:21I can do a lot of things
00:14:22and
00:14:22I think I will get better
00:14:25and do even more
00:14:27for this team,
00:14:28so, yeah.
00:14:29It's been a good start,
00:14:30so the fans will be looking forward
00:14:31to seeing something
00:14:31that's even better than that.
00:14:33You say you should be doing better,
00:14:34but don't be too hard on yourself.
00:14:36You're pretty good tonight.
00:14:37Who is the player
00:14:38that you modelled yourself on
00:14:39growing up?
00:14:40Watching you tonight,
00:14:41you drop in,
00:14:42you're obviously running behind,
00:14:43you do lots of things really well.
00:14:44Who's your hero?
00:14:45Who's the player you like to look at?
00:14:47Growing up,
00:14:48two players.
00:14:49Obviously,
00:14:50I can't play like him
00:14:51because it's Neymar
00:14:53and Karim Benzema.
00:14:54I really love Karim Benzema
00:14:55because of the way he's played
00:14:58and what he did for football
00:15:00is like just my role model
00:15:02as footballer,
00:15:03I think, yeah.
00:15:04What has the manager asked of you
00:15:06since you've come here
00:15:07that's maybe a little bit different
00:15:08than, you know,
00:15:09your time at Eintracht Frankfurt
00:15:10or teams before that
00:15:12because he seems to like
00:15:13his strikers dropping
00:15:14a little bit deeper,
00:15:15but is that natural
00:15:15to your game as well?
00:15:18Yeah,
00:15:18I think it's natural.
00:15:19I also changed my way
00:15:21to play here
00:15:21because I think
00:15:22it's also different football
00:15:23where more intensity,
00:15:25the defenders are more strong
00:15:27and, yeah,
00:15:29we have, like,
00:15:30tight space here.
00:15:32I would say, like,
00:15:32I had so much more space
00:15:35in Germany.
00:15:36That's why I try to come,
00:15:38link and go,
00:15:40run behind,
00:15:41but, you know,
00:15:42we have to find the way
00:15:45to succeed with the details
00:15:49because it's not good,
00:15:51I think, anymore
00:15:52and we just have to get better.
00:15:55If you want to get stronger
00:15:56to deal with the Premier League,
00:15:57when you're at Liverpool,
00:15:58you need to eat scouse.
00:16:00Some scouse?
00:16:00I know, dude.
00:16:02I'm a scouser.
00:16:04But there's also a stew
00:16:06called scouse as well,
00:16:07so that's what Jamie's
00:16:07trying to get you to eat.
00:16:08I don't think it's
00:16:09on the footballer's diet.
00:16:10I'm not really sure.
00:16:11I'm not sure.
00:16:12Have you seen your goal yet?
00:16:14Would you like to?
00:16:15Yeah, why not?
00:16:15We can show you the goal
00:16:16and you can talk us through it
00:16:18and talk us through the move.
00:16:19I mean,
00:16:20you were talking about
00:16:20your movement
00:16:21and maybe not having
00:16:22as much space
00:16:23as you were used to
00:16:23in Germany?
00:16:26Yeah,
00:16:26I think, like,
00:16:27I track the defender,
00:16:28I come link up
00:16:29and I'm a bit lucky
00:16:30with the touch.
00:16:31People came back to me
00:16:33and, you know,
00:16:35at the end,
00:16:35it's an easy go.
00:16:37We have to stay calm
00:16:38in front of the goal
00:16:38and, yeah,
00:16:39I just did my job
00:16:41so I keep going.
00:16:44Jamie,
00:16:44what did you make of it?
00:16:45Yeah,
00:16:46I mean,
00:16:46I thought it was fantastic.
00:16:47I watched you last week
00:16:48against Crystal Palace
00:16:49and hearing it,
00:16:50it's quite evident,
00:16:50not just the goals
00:16:51but you're always trying
00:16:52to get involved in the play,
00:16:53come short,
00:16:54link the play
00:16:55and I was impressed
00:16:56with some of your touches
00:16:57in the game as well.
00:16:58It's not just about goals for you.
00:16:59It seems like you want
00:17:00to be involved in the build-up
00:17:01and also you're involved
00:17:02in the second goal as well,
00:17:03dragging people out wide
00:17:04and then playing that pass
00:17:05into Cody.
00:17:06Yeah,
00:17:08I try to think
00:17:10before the defender
00:17:12and to read the game
00:17:13to know what
00:17:14the other players
00:17:16around me
00:17:17are going to do
00:17:18and I knew
00:17:19the defender
00:17:20like to come
00:17:21and press me
00:17:22so I know
00:17:23in my back
00:17:24or on the side
00:17:25he will have space
00:17:26and I just attract him
00:17:27and I know Cody
00:17:28will be there
00:17:28and it's a bit like
00:17:30his special
00:17:31he's really good
00:17:32when he comes inside
00:17:33with his right foot
00:17:34so yeah,
00:17:35I wait
00:17:35and it made a difference
00:17:37so I'm happy for him.
00:17:38What's your first impression
00:17:39of the Premier League?
00:17:42You know,
00:17:43it's a dream
00:17:44like I always dream
00:17:46to play here
00:17:47in Premier League
00:17:48so I just enjoy
00:17:50every minute here.
00:17:51Sorry.
00:17:52It's all right.
00:17:52and that's amazing
00:17:55stadium.
00:17:56You know,
00:17:56the fans at the end
00:17:57when we were at 2-2
00:17:59they pushed so much
00:18:00even on the bench
00:18:01I enjoy
00:18:01I wanted to be in the crowd
00:18:02so it's just amazing
00:18:04but as I say
00:18:06it's the first game
00:18:07we have so much
00:18:09to do
00:18:10to get better
00:18:11and to reach our goals.
00:18:13Well, the crowd
00:18:13certainly have taken to you
00:18:14I know you wanted
00:18:15to be in there
00:18:16but I think they would have been
00:18:17delighted for you
00:18:18to be there as well.
00:18:19You are the Premier League
00:18:21player of the match.
00:18:22I've got the...
00:18:23Wow.
00:18:24I don't know
00:18:24you won't have seen these
00:18:25before but they're
00:18:26really impressive.
00:18:27Yeah.
00:18:27I don't know where
00:18:29you want to put it
00:18:29but there is your
00:18:30Premier League player
00:18:31of the match award.
00:18:33I don't know
00:18:34on my table.
00:18:36Not bad for a
00:18:37Premier League debut.
00:18:38No, I can't do better
00:18:40I think
00:18:40but it's great.
00:18:41I want more.
00:18:42Hugo, thank you so much
00:18:44really good of you
00:18:44to come out and talk to us
00:18:45I can take that for you.
00:18:46Thanks so much.
00:18:50Well done.
00:18:51Really interesting to hear
00:18:52from him on his
00:18:53all-round performance
00:18:54and he was harsh on himself
00:18:56talking about improving
00:18:57but he's been an instant hit
00:18:59and those two goals
00:19:00that were part of you
00:19:01he did that as his
00:19:01celebration.
00:19:03Those two goals
00:19:04in the Community Shield
00:19:05and then again here
00:19:05in his debut at Anfield
00:19:07they're going to
00:19:08endear him to the crowd
00:19:09aren't they?
00:19:09If you're going to come in
00:19:10as a striker
00:19:11that'll do it.
00:19:12Yeah, it will endear him
00:19:12to the crowd
00:19:13but also to his teammates
00:19:14as well
00:19:14and also give that
00:19:16lad confidence
00:19:17I mean the first time
00:19:17I've ever been in his company
00:19:18but he feels
00:19:19you can see he's a young lad
00:19:20you know
00:19:21just the way
00:19:22he's at Anfield
00:19:23one of the biggest clubs
00:19:23in the world
00:19:24and I've actually felt
00:19:26a little bit sorry for him
00:19:27with all the talk
00:19:27around Isak
00:19:28and that's why I've been
00:19:29a little bit sort of
00:19:30not outspoken
00:19:31but it's easy to just say
00:19:32oh going get Isak
00:19:33what does it mean for him?
00:19:35You know
00:19:36and I didn't want you
00:19:36don't want to ask him
00:19:37the question
00:19:37and put him on the spot
00:19:38but I mean
00:19:38there's talk about him
00:19:39playing on the left
00:19:39but he looks like
00:19:40that's his position
00:19:41he's a centre forward
00:19:42he likes to drop deep
00:19:43likes to get on the ball
00:19:44he's probably not going
00:19:45to be a centre forward
00:19:45he's going to be backing
00:19:46into defenders
00:19:47and sort of
00:19:48going up against them
00:19:49he's got a slight frame
00:19:50so we need to sort of
00:19:51get away from him
00:19:52and take them into wide areas
00:19:53so for me
00:19:54he's made a brilliant start
00:19:55he's not as good as Isak
00:19:56of course
00:19:57he's four or five years
00:19:58younger than him
00:19:59but I'm sure Liverpool
00:20:00on the board
00:20:01are thinking
00:20:01this fella could grow
00:20:02into one of the top strikers
00:20:03in world football
00:20:04so yeah
00:20:05I mean
00:20:06I think it's just
00:20:06really interesting now
00:20:07what Liverpool do
00:20:09in terms of
00:20:09the attacking players
00:20:10that they bring in
00:20:11because they have to bring
00:20:12attacking players in
00:20:13but that will do him
00:20:14the world of good
00:20:15and also give
00:20:16players the confidence
00:20:17and maybe even supporters
00:20:18the confidence
00:20:18that it's not all about
00:20:20Isak
00:20:21and if you don't get him
00:20:21it's the end of the world
00:20:22he might have someone
00:20:23pretty special up front already
00:20:25I know you said
00:20:25they need to bring
00:20:26attacking players in
00:20:27but you've been saying
00:20:27for a while
00:20:27they need to bring
00:20:28more defenders in
00:20:29at Liverpool
00:20:30and certainly
00:20:31Liverpool's defence
00:20:33could be questioned
00:20:34for the two goals
00:20:35that brought Bournemouth
00:20:36back into it
00:20:36but I want to focus
00:20:37before we do that
00:20:38on Antoine Semenya
00:20:39and how good he was
00:20:41for both of these goals
00:20:42Gary
00:20:42he was outstanding
00:20:43and it was down
00:20:44this side of Liverpool
00:20:45this left half
00:20:46it's a brilliant ball
00:20:46into the box
00:20:47Semenya was fantastic
00:20:48in terms of that
00:20:49opposite wide player
00:20:50you just see him there
00:20:51in the top of the picture
00:20:52Canate's out of position
00:20:54he gets caught
00:20:55in that channel
00:20:55Van Dijk's just a little
00:20:56bit deeper
00:20:57which he not
00:20:57isn't usually
00:20:59he usually plays
00:20:59a really high line
00:21:00he could have stepped
00:21:00to be out of two more
00:21:01but Semenya's pace
00:21:02to get into that back post
00:21:03as the opposite wide player
00:21:04is outstanding
00:21:05and he was fantastic
00:21:06in this game tonight
00:21:08what a real threat
00:21:09and Bournemouth deserved it
00:21:10they did a lot of
00:21:11very good things
00:21:12I thought when
00:21:12the substitution was made
00:21:14and Endo went to right back
00:21:15Liverpool really struggled
00:21:17for about 15-20 minutes
00:21:18and that's when most
00:21:19of the defensive problems came
00:21:20this is obviously
00:21:21just a big counter attack
00:21:22I mean that's unbelievable
00:21:24looking at that
00:21:24I mean Anish Lott's
00:21:25made those changes
00:21:26initially to make sure
00:21:27things like this
00:21:27don't happen
00:21:28well fantastic
00:21:29from Semenya
00:21:30but Liverpool have had
00:21:31this problem
00:21:32and continue
00:21:32I mean look
00:21:33how many players
00:21:33there for Liverpool
00:21:34maybe eight players
00:21:35ahead of the ball
00:21:35when you're winning 2-1
00:21:36I mean that can't happen
00:21:39it's absolutely shocking
00:21:40at this level
00:21:41and Semenya
00:21:42I mean to run that far
00:21:43and then get your shot away
00:21:43is brilliant
00:21:44but where Canarte is going
00:21:45I mean he had a really
00:21:47really poor night tonight
00:21:48the Liverpool centre-back
00:21:50but
00:21:50Liverpool supporters in the stadium
00:21:53will be delighted tonight
00:21:54you know
00:21:54singing the Chiesa song
00:21:55Sada gets the last minute goal
00:21:57that is not right
00:21:58it's not
00:21:59it's only one game
00:22:00into the season
00:22:01the community shit
00:22:01I'm telling you
00:22:02I've watched enough
00:22:03football in my life
00:22:04this idea that
00:22:05everyone bombs forward
00:22:06you've got all the
00:22:06attacking players on the pitch
00:22:07it's not for me
00:22:09I don't like it
00:22:10at no time last week
00:22:11in the community seal
00:22:12did I ever feel
00:22:13Liverpool were in control
00:22:14of the game
00:22:14you can draw 2-2
00:22:15with Crystal Palace
00:22:16that can happen
00:22:17they're a good
00:22:17Premier League team
00:22:18but it was how easy
00:22:19it was for Crystal Palace
00:22:20to get at Liverpool
00:22:21how easy it was tonight
00:22:23in the first half
00:22:24Bournemouth should have
00:22:25probably been 2-0
00:22:25at one stage
00:22:26and there's
00:22:27there's definitely
00:22:28a problem that
00:22:29Arnestot has to solve
00:22:30and it's not just about
00:22:31people say
00:22:32oh they need a centre-back
00:22:33a centre-back doesn't fix that
00:22:34he just takes Canate's place
00:22:35he doesn't fix that
00:22:36it's about the make-up
00:22:38of the team
00:22:39to attacking full-backs
00:22:40a number 10
00:22:41that was more interesting
00:22:41getting on the ball
00:22:42than maybe defending
00:22:43like Sir Bosley was
00:22:44last season
00:22:45so I think if Liverpool
00:22:46continue like that
00:22:47and that's sort of
00:22:48the Liverpool
00:22:48this season
00:22:50I don't think Liverpool
00:22:51would win the league
00:22:51we may well come back
00:22:52to talk about
00:22:53Liverpool's defence
00:22:54but important to put
00:22:55Antoine Semenya's
00:22:56performance
00:22:56particularly in the
00:22:57second half
00:22:57in context
00:22:58because in the first
00:22:59half of the game
00:23:00it was paused
00:23:01for a couple of minutes
00:23:02because Antoine Semenya
00:23:03reported racial abuse
00:23:05from the crowd
00:23:06here's Adam Smith
00:23:07with Juliet Farrington
00:23:08on that
00:23:08Adam first of all
00:23:11a dressing room
00:23:12frustrated with the
00:23:13scoreline
00:23:13disappointed
00:23:14but also disappointed
00:23:16with the racial abuse
00:23:18that Antoine Semenya
00:23:19received during the game
00:23:21yeah
00:23:22just totally unacceptable
00:23:24kind of been shocked
00:23:25to be honest
00:23:25that it happened
00:23:26in this day and age
00:23:27it shouldn't be happening
00:23:28I mean I don't know
00:23:31how Ants played on
00:23:32to be honest
00:23:32and come up
00:23:33with them goals
00:23:34and
00:23:34just
00:23:36it's just
00:23:36totally unacceptable
00:23:38and I just
00:23:38if anything
00:23:40I just feel
00:23:40sorry for Ants
00:23:41in there
00:23:41you know
00:23:42it's a little bit down
00:23:44obviously
00:23:44and to carry on
00:23:45playing
00:23:45it's just
00:23:47something needs to be done
00:23:49and
00:23:49taking a knee
00:23:50and doing this
00:23:51it's not having
00:23:52no effect
00:23:52so
00:23:53yeah we'll support
00:23:55them in there
00:23:56and
00:23:56yeah hopefully
00:23:57it'll be okay
00:23:58yeah it's taken
00:23:59quite a while
00:24:00for the players
00:24:00to come out
00:24:01of that dressing room
00:24:01I know that
00:24:02your manager
00:24:04has gone on
00:24:04to speak to
00:24:05Liverpool security
00:24:05as well
00:24:06and he's gone
00:24:06back in too
00:24:07when you talk
00:24:08about the goals
00:24:09that he went on
00:24:10to score
00:24:10he didn't react
00:24:11he showed great bravery
00:24:13didn't he
00:24:13to go on and do that
00:24:14yeah I mean
00:24:15to be honest
00:24:15I wanted him to react
00:24:16because that's what
00:24:17I would have done
00:24:18I would have gone
00:24:19straight over there
00:24:20but it just shows
00:24:21what type of man he is
00:24:22to not react
00:24:25even in the moment
00:24:26when it happened
00:24:26not to react
00:24:27to carry on
00:24:27then he reported
00:24:29to the ref
00:24:29and then
00:24:30to come up
00:24:30with them two goals
00:24:31it shows what type
00:24:32of guy he is
00:24:33and type of character
00:24:34he has
00:24:35so yeah
00:24:36fair play to Ants
00:24:37as captain
00:24:38when Anthony Taylor
00:24:39came and spoke
00:24:40first of all
00:24:41to the two head coaches
00:24:42but then
00:24:42players got involved
00:24:43as well
00:24:44wanting to know
00:24:44what had happened
00:24:45how did you feel
00:24:47it's more angry
00:24:49to be honest
00:24:49shocked
00:24:51obviously I said
00:24:53to the ref
00:24:54I just want him
00:24:55removed immediately
00:24:56but he said
00:24:57we have to go
00:24:57through a process
00:24:58the police will go
00:24:58and sort it
00:24:59and to be fair
00:25:01the Liverpool players
00:25:01were very supportive
00:25:02as well
00:25:03towards Antoine
00:25:04and the rest
00:25:05of the team
00:25:05so I think
00:25:07it was handled
00:25:07in the right way
00:25:08but yeah
00:25:10just
00:25:10so angry
00:25:12I can feel that
00:25:14coming through you
00:25:15that emotion
00:25:16as well
00:25:16as you said
00:25:17it does appear
00:25:18to have been
00:25:18handled quite swiftly
00:25:19on the ground
00:25:20Merseyside police
00:25:21involved as well
00:25:22but when you talk
00:25:23about taking the knee
00:25:24educating people
00:25:26what more can be done
00:25:27and opening day
00:25:28of the season too
00:25:29yeah obviously
00:25:30we've had discussions
00:25:31with the Premier League
00:25:31about it
00:25:32so they've been
00:25:33taking it serious
00:25:34but I was just
00:25:36speaking to some
00:25:36of the lads in there
00:25:37and it's just
00:25:37I don't know
00:25:39what else we can do
00:25:40it's just
00:25:40we've been doing it
00:25:41for a long time now
00:25:42and no one's
00:25:44just getting it
00:25:44it's just
00:25:45I just don't know
00:25:47what to say anymore
00:25:48and I just feel
00:25:49sorry for Ant in there
00:25:50just that he's up
00:25:51to take that tonight
00:25:52and the whole country
00:25:54is watching
00:25:55and for that to happen
00:25:55it's just shocking
00:25:57I thank you for your time
00:25:59thank you
00:25:59thank you
00:26:00well this is
00:26:03the statement
00:26:04that we have had
00:26:05on the incident
00:26:06from the Premier League
00:26:07match centre
00:26:07saying that the match
00:26:09was temporarily paused
00:26:10after a report
00:26:11of discriminatory abuse
00:26:12from the crowd
00:26:13directed at Bournemouth
00:26:14Antoine Semenyo
00:26:15in line with the Premier League's
00:26:17on-field
00:26:17anti-discrimination protocol
00:26:19and that's what we heard
00:26:19Adam Smith
00:26:20talk about there
00:26:21in terms of the conversations
00:26:22that they've had
00:26:23with the Premier League
00:26:24they say the incident
00:26:25will now be fully investigated
00:26:27they offer their full support
00:26:28to the player
00:26:29and the clubs
00:26:29they emphasise
00:26:30that racism
00:26:31has no place
00:26:31in our game
00:26:32or anywhere in society
00:26:33and that they will
00:26:34continue to work
00:26:35with stakeholders
00:26:36and authorities
00:26:36to ensure stadiums
00:26:38are an inclusive
00:26:39and welcoming environment
00:26:40for all
00:26:41Adam Smith
00:26:42made the point there
00:26:43and Juliet picked up on it
00:26:45that taking the knee
00:26:47gestures
00:26:47aren't having the effect
00:26:49of getting rid of this
00:26:51from the game
00:26:51is reporting the incident
00:26:54and more importantly
00:26:56following that up
00:26:57with swift
00:26:58and correct action
00:27:00the answer
00:27:01to trying to get this
00:27:02out of the game
00:27:03at least out of the stadiums
00:27:05yeah I mean of course
00:27:06it's the correct way
00:27:08to go about it
00:27:09I just think back
00:27:10about four or five weeks ago
00:27:11where
00:27:12Solver City
00:27:13a club obviously
00:27:14that I part own
00:27:15there was an incident
00:27:17of racism
00:27:18and the manager
00:27:19and the players
00:27:19walked off the pitch
00:27:20and didn't finish
00:27:21the last I think
00:27:21seven or eight minutes
00:27:22of the game
00:27:23they just walked off
00:27:23and walked in
00:27:24now I'm not saying
00:27:25that that should have
00:27:26happened tonight
00:27:26but we're going to get
00:27:28to a point where
00:27:29I think that players
00:27:30are going to rally around
00:27:31if these incidents
00:27:32keep occurring in stadiums
00:27:33and they say
00:27:34no football's not
00:27:35important tonight
00:27:35we're going to go off
00:27:36and walk off
00:27:37and I'm not advocating
00:27:39that but it's the right
00:27:39thing too
00:27:40but that's what the
00:27:40Salford players did
00:27:41that night
00:27:41they felt very strongly
00:27:42about it
00:27:43and we supported them
00:27:44but you can just see
00:27:45the players there
00:27:45the disappointment
00:27:46the shock
00:27:47he refers to obviously
00:27:50the player Semenu
00:27:50who goes on to have
00:27:52the most incredible
00:27:52second half
00:27:53after what he's experienced
00:27:54in the first half
00:27:55which says a lot about him
00:27:56as a personality
00:27:56and the character
00:27:57and I've spoken about
00:27:58this personally before
00:27:59where I was witnessing
00:28:00players getting racially abused
00:28:02in stadiums
00:28:04you know Ashley Cole
00:28:04famously in the Burnabout
00:28:05in 2003 for England
00:28:07and I went after the game
00:28:08and sat next to him
00:28:09and at that time
00:28:12my response was inadequate
00:28:13you know I think
00:28:14back in 2003
00:28:15I should have been
00:28:16a lot more supportive
00:28:16I think as a group of players
00:28:17we should have been
00:28:18a lot more supportive
00:28:19I think now the players
00:28:20are giving support
00:28:21and they will be obviously
00:28:23rallying around him
00:28:24in that changing room
00:28:25and making sure
00:28:25that he's okay
00:28:26but I have to say
00:28:27it's despicable
00:28:28it really is
00:28:29and enough is enough
00:28:31I know we've said that
00:28:32for a long time now
00:28:33but it continues
00:28:34to keep happening
00:28:35I noticed on the screens
00:28:37at half time
00:28:38just in the two corners
00:28:39over there
00:28:40they had the number
00:28:41that you can text
00:28:42in the crowd
00:28:43if you hear
00:28:44any racist language
00:28:45and there is a way
00:28:46for that to be reported
00:28:47is this as well
00:28:49as being dealt with
00:28:50properly by the authorities
00:28:51and having faith in them
00:28:53to deal with it properly
00:28:54is this
00:28:55is there an element
00:28:56of self-policing as well
00:28:58Jamie in this
00:28:58yeah I think so
00:28:59listen I think there is
00:29:00a lot of good work
00:29:02that gets done
00:29:02you know up and down
00:29:04the country
00:29:05in terms of
00:29:05the football side of it
00:29:07and I can understand
00:29:08where Adam Smith's
00:29:09coming from
00:29:10thinking you know
00:29:10what more can we do
00:29:11or what else
00:29:12or these things
00:29:13aren't working
00:29:13but it's also difficult
00:29:15when you've just got
00:29:15one idiot in a crowd
00:29:17how would you police
00:29:18that one person
00:29:20in a crowd
00:29:20who as you said
00:29:21you just mentioned
00:29:22despicable
00:29:23it makes it difficult
00:29:24whether that's through
00:29:25the Premier League
00:29:25the Football League
00:29:26the FA
00:29:26the clubs coming together
00:29:27they wanted him to be
00:29:28removed from the ground
00:29:30and they said
00:29:30well we have to go
00:29:31through a process
00:29:31then the police
00:29:32become involved
00:29:33so the processes
00:29:34were being gone through
00:29:36at the ground
00:29:36yeah exactly
00:29:37I'm not sure
00:29:39if you're talking about that
00:29:40and then someone
00:29:41getting removed from the ground
00:29:42I'm not sure
00:29:42what else you can do
00:29:43whether the fan
00:29:44gets banned for the season
00:29:45or gets banned for life
00:29:46I totally get that
00:29:48but in terms of
00:29:49the actual racial abuse
00:29:51and we're talking about
00:29:52all the good work
00:29:52that we're trying to do
00:29:53we all know
00:29:54it's completely different
00:29:55than when I first
00:29:56going on the terraces
00:29:56in sort of the mid 80s
00:29:58when I was a 7 or 8
00:29:59year old kid
00:30:00but it is very difficult
00:30:02for the clubs
00:30:03or the FA
00:30:03or the Premier League
00:30:04there's one idiot
00:30:04in a crowd
00:30:05who just you know
00:30:06comes out with that nonsense
00:30:07isn't it in a way
00:30:08that easier
00:30:09if it's one person
00:30:10yeah I think
00:30:11the important thing Kelly
00:30:12is it's a criminal offence
00:30:13this obviously proven
00:30:14to be found guilty
00:30:16and I think
00:30:16which is why we need to be
00:30:18careful around that
00:30:19the consequence of that
00:30:20should mean that
00:30:21that person
00:30:21you know
00:30:22there is serious consequences
00:30:24for that individual
00:30:24and I'm not just talking about
00:30:26taking the season ticket off
00:30:27them and stopping them
00:30:28watching Liverpool again
00:30:29that's an absolute given
00:30:30they won't step foot in this stadium
00:30:31if it was proved to be correct
00:30:32but also the fact that
00:30:34you know
00:30:34their employer
00:30:35the people who they work with
00:30:36their family
00:30:37you know
00:30:37this is going to have a knock on effect
00:30:39there needs to be consequence
00:30:40if these type of incidents
00:30:41are reported
00:30:42and they're found
00:30:42to be proved correct
00:30:43and there needs to be
00:30:45serious consequences
00:30:46and here is
00:30:48Andoni Eraulo
00:30:49with Jules
00:30:50Andoni first of all
00:30:53I know it's been a frustrating
00:30:55dressing room
00:30:56and it's been a very
00:30:56disappointed dressing room
00:30:58I know you've been speaking
00:30:59to Liverpool security
00:31:00Merseyside police
00:31:01involved as well
00:31:01can I just get
00:31:03first of all
00:31:03your thoughts
00:31:04on what happened
00:31:05to Antoine Semenyo tonight
00:31:07I didn't notice it live
00:31:09because
00:31:10obviously there is a lot
00:31:11of people shouting
00:31:12but Antoine
00:31:13the referee
00:31:13everyone explained
00:31:14straight away
00:31:15the situation
00:31:15to be fair
00:31:16I think
00:31:17the person
00:31:18has been identified
00:31:19and
00:31:21it's a shame
00:31:22because in a really
00:31:24great game of football
00:31:25first game of the season
00:31:26everyone watching
00:31:27that we have to be talking
00:31:28about these things
00:31:30still today
00:31:30I think
00:31:31we should have been
00:31:33past
00:31:34this stage
00:31:35but
00:31:35still
00:31:36there are
00:31:37people that
00:31:39they don't
00:31:41behave
00:31:42obviously correctly
00:31:43and
00:31:44it's a shame
00:31:44it's a shame
00:31:45because
00:31:45every step
00:31:48that you collectively
00:31:49do forward
00:31:50with these things
00:31:51loses a lot of power
00:31:54your captain was talking to us
00:31:56and he was saying
00:31:57what bravery
00:31:57Antoine showed
00:31:58to continue
00:31:59and carry on
00:32:00and not to react
00:32:01to what happened
00:32:02to him
00:32:03on the pitch
00:32:04yes
00:32:04I think he
00:32:05did what
00:32:06he had to do
00:32:07inform
00:32:08straight away
00:32:10also
00:32:10the ref
00:32:11explained
00:32:12to both managers
00:32:13straight away
00:32:13the situation
00:32:14I don't think
00:32:15he lost his mind
00:32:16probably
00:32:17he was thinking
00:32:18the next minutes
00:32:20in this
00:32:20in this
00:32:22in this thing
00:32:22but
00:32:23it's a big shame
00:32:25that we have to
00:32:26start talking
00:32:27about these things
00:32:27when Anthony Taylor
00:32:30came over
00:32:30and spoke to both you
00:32:31and Arna Slott
00:32:32and I saw Arna Slott
00:32:33talking to Antoine
00:32:34at the end of the match
00:32:35as well
00:32:35and Virgil van Dijk
00:32:36was talking to him
00:32:36at half time
00:32:37how did you feel
00:32:40about it
00:32:40what was that reaction
00:32:41no for sure
00:32:43the Liverpool manager
00:32:45the players
00:32:45are the first one
00:32:46that they feel
00:32:48it like
00:32:48they've received
00:32:49this thing
00:32:51because at the end
00:32:52even if it's
00:32:53a Liverpool supporter
00:32:54for sure
00:32:55they don't want
00:32:56them with them
00:32:57I think everyone
00:32:59understands
00:33:01that these things
00:33:02have to be
00:33:03especially out
00:33:03from everywhere
00:33:04but especially
00:33:05from football
00:33:05and
00:33:07it's a big shame
00:33:09and to
00:33:11bring you back
00:33:12right into the game
00:33:13as well
00:33:14to level the scoreline
00:33:152-2
00:33:16going into
00:33:16the final stages
00:33:17of the match
00:33:18shows what type
00:33:20of character
00:33:21what type of person
00:33:22he is
00:33:23how is he right now
00:33:24though in that dressing room
00:33:25I think he's
00:33:27probably overthinking it
00:33:28because probably
00:33:29in the heat of the game
00:33:30you continue playing
00:33:31you focus on the things
00:33:32you have to do
00:33:33obviously
00:33:33has continued playing
00:33:34very well
00:33:35he scored two goals
00:33:35in the second half
00:33:37but now that we had to go
00:33:38again to talk to the
00:33:39to the police
00:33:40to the officials
00:33:41to again
00:33:43tell them more or less
00:33:45how the things
00:33:46have gone
00:33:47I think he was
00:33:49you know
00:33:49in his head
00:33:50for sure
00:33:50he will have it there
00:33:51and he shouldn't be like this
00:33:53thank you for your time
00:33:55Andoni
00:33:55thank you
00:33:56thank you
00:33:56thank you
00:33:57thank you
00:33:57well again

00:34:03in the first half
00:34:04of this game
00:34:05here at Anfield
00:34:06but then went on
00:34:07to score two goals
00:34:08in the second half
00:34:09that pulled it back
00:34:10to two all
00:34:11at the time
00:34:12two late goals
00:34:12for Liverpool
00:34:13earned them
00:34:13a 4-2 victory
00:34:15in the opening game
00:34:16of this Premier League season
00:34:17we'll be hearing
00:34:18from the Liverpool boss
00:34:19Arna Slott next
00:34:20on his thoughts
00:34:21on the result

00:37:41This is not a warm-up.
00:37:45No!
00:37:46This is hardcore, hard-fought, first serve, fast feet, grip tight, eyes locked.
00:37:52Crowd roars, sweat flies, one last shot, one last stand.
00:37:56This is Cincinnati, the final stop before the U.S. Open.

00:38:20Live on Sky Sports.
00:38:22Antoine Semenya reported to the referee.
00:38:35You can see him here walking over to Anthony Taylor.
00:38:38A racist incident in the first half at Anfield.
00:38:41Both benches were spoken to and informed about the incident.
00:38:48The game was suspended for a short while.
00:38:52While the information was passed on.
00:38:58Antoine Semenya made his way back.
00:39:01His captain, Adam Smith, said he had full support, as you would imagine,
00:39:06from both sets of players and benches.
00:39:11On a slot, found him for a word afterwards,
00:39:14and Liverpool have released a statement that says,
00:39:17Liverpool Football Club is unaware of an alleged,
00:39:20an allegation of racist abuse made during our Premier League game
00:39:23against AFC Bournemouth.
00:39:24We condemn racism and discrimination in all forms.
00:39:27It has no place in society or football.
00:39:29The club is unable to comment further,
00:39:31as tonight's alleged incident is the subject of an ongoing police investigation,
00:39:35which we will support fully.
00:39:38So, as things stand, what we can infer from Liverpool's statement is that
00:39:43this is now being dealt with by the police.
00:39:46Yeah, as I said before, it's a serious matter.
00:39:48It will be dealt with by the police.
00:39:50There needs to be strong consequences.
00:39:52And it's what the game does.
00:39:54We've seen a lot of those statements over the last 10, 15 years,
00:39:57and they keep coming out after every single game.
00:39:59It's like plug and play.
00:40:00But what's changing?
00:40:02I think that's the key thing.
00:40:03What's changing?
00:40:06And that's exactly the point that Adam Smith was making in his interview,
00:40:09which is there are lots of gestures and not too much change within the game.
00:40:14It's certainly not eradicated it from the game.
00:40:16Antoine Semenya went on then to score two goals.
00:40:19That brought it back to 2-1 for Bournemouth at Liverpool this evening.
00:40:23Liverpool went on to take the game by four goals to two.
00:40:27Jamie, you've been talking about some of the defensive concerns
00:40:30and Arna Slott will be joining us and you'll be able to put your questions to him.
00:40:34But before we do, because we are going to get caught in those more negative conversations,
00:40:40we should talk about how well Bournemouth played,
00:40:43particularly given that they're a group of players,
00:40:45and defensively they're a group of players,
00:40:47who haven't played together in the Premier League before.
00:40:50When you think of what Bournemouth did last season,
00:40:52they were a team who we all talked about.
00:40:54Everybody was raving about.
00:40:55Every time it's Monday Night Football, you're coming in,
00:40:57doing a Bournemouth piece, looking at the stats, the numbers.
00:40:59But I think that performance to go,
00:41:01first game of the season to the home of the champions,
00:41:04with the problems that you've had, the players that you've lost.
00:41:08Listen, Bournemouth fans know their team better than me,
00:41:10but that surely has to go right up alongside any performance from last season.
00:41:14You know, they've just been a little bit unfortunate.
00:41:17So, you know, the last kick of the game,
00:41:18ball just dropped to Chiesa.
00:41:20He's falling away and just finds the bottom corner.
00:41:22I mean, they were absolutely fantastic.
00:41:24They should have gone 1-0 up, maybe even 2-0 up,
00:41:26two big chances in the first half.
00:41:28I thought the game had got away from them.
00:41:29So to come back there and do what they did to Liverpool in that second half
00:41:33and leave them hanging on and leave them needing to score in the last minute,
00:41:37it was a fantastic performance, as I said,
00:41:39considering the players that they've lost from last season.
00:41:40When we spoke to Araula before the game,
00:41:42he sort of conceded that it would be tough for them,
00:41:45particularly as a new group of players coming to the home of the champions,
00:41:49that they might not have too much of the ball,
00:41:51but how impressed were you with what they did when they did have it?
00:41:54I thought they were excellent.
00:41:55I thought the front four were a real threat.
00:41:57I thought Scott was really sort of dangerous.
00:41:59Semenyo obviously was a huge threat to Liverpool.
00:42:01They should have, as Jamie said, gone 1-2 up in the first half.
00:42:05They were creating big moments.
00:42:06It was always going to be tough for them,
00:42:07but it's a great performance from Bournemouth.
00:42:09It really was.
00:42:09Well, Arne Slott has made his way to join us.
00:42:12Arne, thank you so much.
00:42:13Congratulations on the victory.
00:42:16We will talk about the football,
00:42:18but it's important that we get your thoughts
00:42:20on the report that Antoine Semenya gave to the officials
00:42:24alleging racist abuse.
00:42:26What was said over on the benches?
00:42:28And I know you made a point of going over to speak to Semenya
00:42:31at the end of the game.
00:42:32Yeah, yeah.
00:42:33I think the club made a clear statement.
00:42:36We don't want this in football.
00:42:37We don't want this in the stadium to happen.
00:42:41But especially not at Anfield.
00:42:43So we should talk about that.
00:42:46We should talk about maybe that for a long time
00:42:48because it's unacceptable that something happens like this
00:42:50in the stadium, let alone at Anfield.
00:42:52And that unfortunately gets the shine off.
00:42:58I don't know if that's really good English,
00:42:59but because our fans were unbelievable
00:43:02when you talk about the tribute for Djogo.
00:43:04But what happened over there is definitely...
00:43:08I didn't hear it.
00:43:09I only can say that this should definitely not happen in the stadium.
00:43:16And the club, as you say, have put out a statement
00:43:18saying that they condemn abuse in any form.
00:43:20And I know that it's with the police.
00:43:22So there's a limit to what can now be said.
00:43:26As you said, we could have been talking about a fantastic game.
00:43:30And we will talk about what was a fantastic game.
00:43:33You take all three points from it.
00:43:34Were you happy with everything that you saw out there?
00:43:36I think it was a great game to watch.
00:43:40And this is why football...
00:43:42This is what football makes so great.
00:43:44Three parties involved that wanted to play a very nice game.
00:43:47Us, Bournemouth and the referee.
00:43:50So high tempo, no time wasting, no diving, just keep on playing.
00:43:55This is what football makes so nice.
00:43:572-0 up, going 2-2.
00:43:59Because they just kept on going after 2-0 down.
00:44:01It's a big compliment for them not to give up,
00:44:04but just keep on fighting.
00:44:05And then we did the same after we conceded the 2-2.
00:44:09And not only we, our fans were at that moment of time.
00:44:12And even before the game,
00:44:14during the You Never Walk Alone and the tributes for Djogo,
00:44:17the banner they had.
00:44:19Altogether, it should be about that.
00:44:21But the game of football was also impressive, in my opinion.
00:44:25Yeah, very impressive game of football.
00:44:27Were you always convinced that Liverpool were going to take
00:44:30three points from that game?
00:44:31No, because we played them last season here.
00:44:33When we were 3-0 up, they just kept on going.
00:44:35They were in every running stat very high last season.
00:44:40And you could see today again,
00:44:42by the way as well,
00:44:44but you could see today again
00:44:45how fit this team we faced was
00:44:47and never gave up.
00:44:49Because you can talk about rest defense,
00:44:52but I think the moment we lost the ball in both situations,
00:44:54the rest defense was in order.
00:44:55But the pace they have,
00:44:56the tempo they sprinted all the way,
00:44:58it was a 4-2, I think, on this side.
00:45:01That's also credits to them.
00:45:04But like I said,
00:45:05they faced a team that's really fit as well
00:45:06and never gives up.
00:45:08We've lost many players during the summer,
00:45:10but we didn't lose our mentality.
00:45:12I'm really interested in that point
00:45:14because I've heard you make it
00:45:15in almost every interview that you've given
00:45:17because you're asked so often
00:45:19about the players who've come in,
00:45:21but you're always at pains
00:45:22to emphasize the players who've gone
00:45:24over the summer.
00:45:26Not always,
00:45:26because it's only the second day
00:45:28I have an interview, I think.
00:45:28Yeah, I've seen a couple.
00:45:30But yeah, everybody is asking me the same question.
00:45:32Yeah, you have a lot of new players.
00:45:34Yeah, reality is we've lost
00:45:35a lot of players as well.
00:45:38I think we even lost more than we got.
00:45:39But it's normal if you bring
00:45:42such talented players in
00:45:43and you've already won the league last season.
00:45:47Everybody's talking about that.
00:45:49But yeah, if you normally,
00:45:53when it was 2-2,
00:45:54you know, I think these two know
00:45:55which player I was looking at
00:45:57at that moment of time.
00:45:58I would have loved to bring Djokovic Jota in.
00:46:00But now I couldn't,
00:46:02for terrible reasons.
00:46:04But now the fans and the players
00:46:06that were still there
00:46:06did what he did so many times
00:46:09for us in the past.
00:46:10And I can actually just mention
00:46:11rest defence there.
00:46:12And you know it's been a problem
00:46:14in the pre-season,
00:46:15in the Community Shield
00:46:16and here today.
00:46:18I think what stood out for me
00:46:20watching your Liverpool team last season
00:46:22was how much control you had in games.
00:46:24And I really saw end-to-end games.
00:46:27I feel like I'm seeing that today
00:46:30and in the Community Shield.
00:46:33Is that a worry for you?
00:46:34Because there's a lot of attack
00:46:35and talent on the pitch now
00:46:36that maybe wasn't there
00:46:37as much last season.
00:46:40Not that we bring more bodies
00:46:41in front of the ball maybe,
00:46:43but we do have players
00:46:44that are looking maybe
00:46:45for a final pass
00:46:46or a difficult solution
00:46:47in the end phase of an attack
00:46:49a little bit more
00:46:50because they also have these passes
00:46:52than we had last season.
00:46:54and probably,
00:46:56I'm not talking about the player we lost,
00:46:59but I do talk about the player
00:47:00that was not available last week
00:47:02and not this week
00:47:03and that's Ryan Gravenberg
00:47:04who was last season
00:47:06very, very important
00:47:07in these moments as well.
00:47:09So with McAllister only being back
00:47:11two or three weeks
00:47:12in pre-season,
00:47:13we lost a little bit
00:47:14of that control
00:47:16in our midfield.
00:47:17But yeah,
00:47:20Ryan will be back next week
00:47:21and Maka will be fitter again
00:47:23and we need to find
00:47:24a better balance
00:47:25in taking the risk
00:47:26because against Palace
00:47:27we've lost two or three
00:47:28simple balls
00:47:28that led to counter-attacks.
00:47:30We're here,
00:47:31we lost in the 2-1,
00:47:32we lost the ball
00:47:32with a trick as well
00:47:33where Dominic wanted to do a trick.
00:47:35Could you believe
00:47:35what you were seeing?
00:47:36I mean,
00:47:36I was up on comments
00:47:37and maybe even got
00:47:38a better view than yourself.
00:47:39I think there were
00:47:40seven or eight players
00:47:40in the box
00:47:41when the score was a 2-1.
00:47:43Are you sort of
00:47:44encouraging that
00:47:45or would you be furious
00:47:46with that?
00:47:47No,
00:47:47depends on where
00:47:48the players of the opposition
00:47:49are.
00:47:50If they are standing
00:47:50over here at the halfway line
00:47:51it would be stupid
00:47:52for us to be there
00:47:53with seven
00:47:53but if they go
00:47:54with all players
00:47:55back in their own
00:47:5618-yard box
00:47:57we need to have
00:47:58a rest defence
00:47:58in order to be close
00:47:59to them there as well.
00:48:01I think if you,
00:48:02I don't know
00:48:02if we can show this
00:48:03but if you stop the play
00:48:04the moment Mo loses
00:48:05the ball
00:48:06there is not such
00:48:06a big problem.
00:48:07I think the rest defence
00:48:08is in order
00:48:09but then they just
00:48:10came with three or four
00:48:12out of nowhere
00:48:13not out of nowhere
00:48:13out of their own
00:48:1418-yard box.
00:48:16Arne,
00:48:16we've got it for you.
00:48:18So if you look
00:48:19at this moment now
00:48:19if you stop it
00:48:20you can stop it
00:48:22but
00:48:22we're two defensive players
00:48:27two full-backs
00:48:28just take it back
00:48:30a little bit further
00:48:31a little bit further
00:48:31if we can
00:48:32a little bit further
00:48:33We used to play like this
00:48:34No, no, that's fine
00:48:35What I'm saying is
00:48:36I don't like the fact
00:48:37that Liverpool's two full-backs
00:48:39at this stage of the game
00:48:40Joe Gomez has made
00:48:41an inside run
00:48:42Andy Robinson's in the box
00:48:43that to me feels
00:48:44too much on the front foot.
00:48:45Depends on where
00:48:46their players are
00:48:47and if I see it now
00:48:48and I see where
00:48:48Sominjo is
00:48:49then you could argue
00:48:51if Robbo should be
00:48:53this high for stop
00:48:54For me
00:48:54Robbo should be
00:48:56where Sominjo is
00:48:57and you can argue
00:48:58if all of our
00:49:00midfielders should go
00:49:01inside the 18-yard box
00:49:03now
00:49:03but that's also
00:49:05who we were
00:49:05and who we are
00:49:06and that's also
00:49:07why you see
00:49:07such a nice game
00:49:09if you watch Liverpool
00:49:09because we don't
00:49:12we're not going to go
00:49:13to a low block
00:49:13and defence
00:49:14stop, stop, stop
00:49:14you see
00:49:15we are in 2-1
00:49:16behind the ball
00:49:17and you see players
00:49:19from us
00:49:19sprinting back as well
00:49:20but it's
00:49:21give credits to Sominjo
00:49:22Can I just say
00:49:23that worries me
00:49:23a little bit
00:49:24when you say
00:49:25that's the team
00:49:26that we are
00:49:26with so many bodies
00:49:27going forward
00:49:27am I allowed to say
00:49:29that, sorry boss
00:49:30No, you're allowed
00:49:31to say this
00:49:31but then you need
00:49:33to support a team
00:49:33that's going to play
00:49:34with 11 players
00:49:35in their own box
00:49:35I prefer to see this
00:49:37but I prefer even more
00:49:39to see not being
00:49:40counter-attacked
00:49:40that I agree on
00:49:41but I like it
00:49:42that our players
00:49:43like to play football
00:49:45and I think
00:49:46last season
00:49:46we were a joy to watch
00:49:48like for example
00:49:48Parisien Germain
00:49:49who do similar things
00:49:50like this
00:49:51I need to be honest
00:49:52with you
00:49:52I think it's a breath
00:49:54of fresh air
00:49:55in the sense of
00:49:55how I see the game
00:49:56should be played
00:49:57it's how we used to play
00:49:58I quite often
00:50:00last year said
00:50:01that football
00:50:01was becoming
00:50:02quite formulaic
00:50:02where players
00:50:03weren't free
00:50:04it felt like
00:50:04they were being
00:50:04sort of
00:50:05coached like robots
00:50:06you must pass it
00:50:07here
00:50:07so when I see that
00:50:09tonight
00:50:09I feel like
00:50:10that's really exciting
00:50:11obviously sometimes
00:50:13you will concede
00:50:13goals doing that
00:50:14is this how
00:50:15you're going to play
00:50:16for the rest of the season
00:50:17because I think
00:50:17that it's going to be
00:50:18thrilling to watch
00:50:19Liverpool
00:50:19if it is
00:50:20yeah
00:50:21we will try
00:50:22although we want to do
00:50:23better in the transition
00:50:24moments of course
00:50:25but it's also then
00:50:26if Mo would have had
00:50:27a shot on goal
00:50:28that went over
00:50:29or a corner kick
00:50:30it's not a problem
00:50:30so where do you lose
00:50:31the ball is crucial
00:50:32as well
00:50:33the moment
00:50:33how Dominic
00:50:35Saboslai lost the ball
00:50:36with a trick
00:50:36that is not smart
00:50:38in that moment of time
00:50:39but we will fine-tune
00:50:42even more
00:50:42these counter-attacks
00:50:44hopefully
00:50:46but we will work
00:50:47on that definitely
00:50:47but we do want to
00:50:49stay the team
00:50:50that is a joy
00:50:51to watch offensively
00:50:52and we're not a team
00:50:53if we're 2-0 up
00:50:54we're going to go
00:50:55with 10 men
00:50:55in our own box
00:50:56that's not who we are
00:50:57you substituted both
00:50:58your fullbacks
00:50:59Kerkhez and Frimpong
00:51:00what was you just
00:51:01thinking behind that
00:51:02at that moment
00:51:02in the game
00:51:03I'm looking for the
00:51:07English word
00:51:08but that wasn't
00:51:08out of luxury
00:51:09that was because
00:51:11Jeremy Frimpong
00:51:12felt his hamstring
00:51:13at half time
00:51:13and made a lot of
00:51:14sprints
00:51:15he was doing quite well
00:51:16wasn't he
00:51:17he was doing quite well
00:51:18but the other fullback
00:51:19Conor Bradley
00:51:19is already injured
00:51:20with a hamstring injury
00:51:21so you don't want to
00:51:23take the risk
00:51:23of another fullback
00:51:24lose another fullback
00:51:26then you could argue
00:51:27why don't you play
00:51:28Joe Gomez there
00:51:28but I just said
00:51:29he only had two sessions
00:51:30in preseason
00:51:31so he wasn't able
00:51:33to play half an hour
00:51:33so we started with Wata
00:51:34and our left fullback
00:51:36Milos Kerkhez
00:51:37is a player
00:51:38that I think
00:51:39the fans like
00:51:40because in every duel
00:51:41he goes all in
00:51:42but when you have
00:51:43a yellow card already
00:51:45and you play Semenyo
00:51:46that's kind of a risk
00:51:47yeah yeah yeah
00:51:48and if you have Robertson
00:51:50as a backup
00:51:51then that was the reason
00:51:53for those two
00:51:54when Hugo Iquitike
00:51:55came later
00:51:56in preseason
00:51:57has to adapt
00:51:58from I think
00:51:59I can say
00:52:00that Liverpool
00:52:00is a better club
00:52:02than Frankfurt
00:52:02and the league
00:52:04is probably
00:52:04more intense as well
00:52:05so for him
00:52:06to be able
00:52:06to play 70
00:52:07is already
00:52:07a big bonus
00:52:08after being
00:52:09two or three weeks
00:52:09here
00:52:10so yeah
00:52:11that's where
00:52:12we are at the moment
00:52:12because
00:52:13we lost some players
00:52:14you need more players
00:52:16are you
00:52:16no no
00:52:17that's not what
00:52:17I'm saying
00:52:18so does that mean
00:52:20there's more to come
00:52:21in the transfer window
00:52:22I'm not saying
00:52:22we need more
00:52:23I'm only saying
00:52:24that everybody's only talking
00:52:25they added
00:52:25they added
00:52:25no we didn't add
00:52:26till now
00:52:27we only replaced
00:52:28and you never know
00:52:30what's going to happen
00:52:30in the window
00:52:31we do already signed one
00:52:32with Leone
00:52:33so that's a good thing
00:52:35Anna I will say
00:52:36when we came here
00:52:37this evening
00:52:37I didn't think
00:52:38you'd get support
00:52:38from this corner
00:52:39and criticism
00:52:40from that corner
00:52:41it's not critters
00:52:41it's constructive
00:52:42Kelly
00:52:43he played under Rafa Benitez
00:52:45he had four defenders
00:52:46that never moved
00:52:47he had four midfield players
00:52:48that never moved
00:52:48they had eight behind the ball
00:52:49every week
00:52:50and one of the most famous
00:52:51Champions League final
00:52:52of all time
00:52:52and I spoke to Benitez
00:52:54and he said
00:52:55that's only because of Jamie
00:52:56because he has to play
00:52:57in big spaces
00:52:58he has a problem
00:52:59Anna listen
00:53:00we really appreciate you
00:53:01coming out
00:53:01thank you very much
00:53:02congratulations on the victory
00:53:03thank you
00:53:04and it is job done
00:53:06as far as getting the result
00:53:08is concerned
00:53:09whether you two have concerns
00:53:10about Jamie
00:53:11how the set up is
00:53:13and how that might look
00:53:14as the season goes on
00:53:15or Gary
00:53:16whether it's the kind of football
00:53:16that you played
00:53:17and that you enjoy watching
00:53:18it is a style of football
00:53:21that clearly
00:53:21Anna's slot
00:53:22is going to be playing
00:53:23with Liverpool
00:53:23I get Cara's point
00:53:24because they're going to go
00:53:25to Newcastle
00:53:25they're going to go
00:53:26and play Arsenal
00:53:26here in a few weeks
00:53:27and you can't obviously
00:53:28be that open at times
00:53:29but because Liverpool
00:53:30have got such a punch
00:53:31if you just throw punches
00:53:33and go punch for punch
00:53:34with a lot of teams
00:53:35you'll win most of your matches
00:53:36and go and risk in
00:53:37to win games
00:53:38I mean they had
00:53:39seven or eight players
00:53:39in the box at 2-1
00:53:40if that's 3-1
00:53:41you say that's brilliant
00:53:42that's what we want to see
00:53:43and I was so critical
00:53:45at times last season
00:53:45of seeing teams
00:53:46recycle the ball
00:53:47where they were basically
00:53:48sort of didn't know
00:53:48how to go forward
00:53:49so when I watch a team
00:53:50like that
00:53:51that runs forward
00:53:51that passes forward
00:53:52that commits players
00:53:53that's got two fullbacks forward
00:53:54that leaves two on two
00:53:56at the back
00:53:56that to me is a thrill
00:53:58that's what the Premier League is
00:54:00now I know that ultimately
00:54:01when we're talking
00:54:02about tactical football
00:54:03later on in the season
00:54:04we would be critical
00:54:05if Liverpool lost the league
00:54:06playing like that
00:54:07but I think at this point
00:54:08in the season
00:54:09I think you're okay
00:54:10to be able to do that
00:54:11and I think they obviously
00:54:12have to sort it out
00:54:13in bigger games
00:54:14and they've obviously
00:54:15got players to come back
00:54:16so I don't want to be
00:54:16too critical of it
00:54:17because I think it does
00:54:18I reminisce and think
00:54:20that that's how we would play
00:54:21we would commit
00:54:22we would risk
00:54:23we would try and thrill
00:54:24at all times in the games
00:54:25and score more goals
00:54:26and at 2-1
00:54:26you don't sit back
00:54:27and that's what I think
00:54:28Liverpool have done to that
00:54:29but I can see why
00:54:29you're slightly worried
00:54:30but let's see how they do
00:54:32against Newcastle and Arsenal
00:54:33that would be a bigger test
00:54:34I think
00:54:34which are coming up
00:54:35very shortly for Liverpool
00:54:36and of course
00:54:37we'll be bringing you
00:54:38that game between
00:54:39Newcastle and Liverpool
00:54:40might well be an interesting one
00:54:41given the transfer speculation
00:54:43he talked about Giovanni Leone
00:54:45who has come into the club
00:54:47he's a young defender
00:54:48young Italian defender
00:54:49and is one for the future
00:54:51but Arna Slott
00:54:52talking about him
00:54:53as very much
00:54:54part of that Liverpool squad
00:54:56how far away is he?
00:54:57and who won't be Liverpool's
00:54:59main rivals
00:55:01we'll discuss that next
00:55:02you can be the greatest
00:55:06I've watched
00:55:07you can be the greatest
00:55:08I've watched
00:55:09you can be the greatest
00:55:10I've watched
00:55:11you can be the greatest
00:55:12I've watched
00:55:13oh yeah
00:55:15number six
00:55:16and one of those please
00:55:17there's a glass and a half
00:55:43in everyone
00:55:44put the big man
00:55:46to school first
00:55:46and off goes
00:55:47the big man
00:55:48oh chin up
00:55:49with Paddy's super sub
00:55:51your bet rolls over
00:55:52to the player coming on
00:55:53so now all subs are super
00:55:55super
00:55:56super
00:55:56substitutes
00:56:01hurrah
00:56:01super sub
00:56:02super sub
00:56:03super sub
00:56:04super sub
00:56:08from Paddy Power
00:56:09I was a super sub
00:56:12no you weren't
00:56:13back in the day
00:56:15if you wanted a picture of yourself
00:56:16this was the only option
00:56:18be still
00:56:19forget this
00:56:20way easier
00:56:21same with shoes
00:56:23you just have to bend down
00:56:24and struggle
00:56:24but there's an easier way
00:56:25with hands free
00:56:26sketches
00:56:26slippings
00:56:27I just step in
00:56:28and go
00:56:29no bending down
00:56:30I never have to touch my shoes
00:56:31step out of dark ages
00:56:32and step into
00:56:33sketches slippings
00:56:34give them a half
00:56:36up
00:56:37they're
00:56:38together
00:56:38I never had to miss
00:56:38you

00:58:43So, join us.
00:58:48I love that passion.
00:58:50This September.
00:58:51See you there.
00:59:01It's been 82 days, but the Premier League is back
00:59:05and Liverpool's title defence starts here at Anfield against Bournemouth.
00:59:11Maybe, I don't really wanna know.
00:59:16Are you guiding girls?
00:59:19Cause I just wanna fly.
00:59:22Lately, did you ever feel the pain?
00:59:27In the morning rain, I just soaked you to the bone.
00:59:33They've come back with themselves so, so, so well.
00:59:36We are facing the Champions, Anfield,
00:59:39first game of the Premier League.
00:59:41You cannot ask for much more than a start here, no?
00:59:43I envision a much tighter title this year.
00:59:46I feel really confident tonight.
00:59:48This is gonna be a fantastic game.
00:59:50This is gonna be a lot of youngsters.
00:59:51I'm so scared.
00:59:52I'm so scared.
00:59:54CK's first 3-1 challenge
01:00:13And score!
01:00:16And Cody Gattles!
01:00:24Brooks plays it in, and Semenyo scores performance!
01:00:28Who had but their interest?
01:00:31Semenyo through the middle
01:00:32Antoine Semenyo to each!
01:00:37Salah, and Salah can down it in
01:00:39And Petrovic intervene
01:00:41And it came to Piazza!
01:00:44It's Mo Salah!
01:00:50Seals it on a gripping opening night
01:00:53The Premier League is up and running
01:01:09Full programme of fixtures coming your way
01:01:11Villa against Newcastle
01:01:13Brighton, Fulham
01:01:14Sunderland, West Ham
01:01:15Tottenham, Burnley
01:01:16And then on Saturday Night Football
01:01:17It's Wolves against Manchester City
01:01:20Before the Monday Night Football
01:01:22Between Leeds and Everton
01:01:23There's a Super Sunday
01:01:24In which you can see all
01:01:25The 2 o'clock games
01:01:27As you will be able to
01:01:28Across the course of this
01:01:29Premier League season
01:01:30So Chelsea against Crystal Palace
01:01:32And Nottingham Forest against Brentford
01:01:34But wrapping up that Super Sunday
01:01:35It's Manchester United
01:01:37Against Arsenal
01:01:38The good days are coming
01:01:44We've been very, very close
01:01:51The last two seasons
01:01:52We've been praying for
01:01:54So long
01:01:56We see no air
01:01:59Don't get me wrong
01:02:08Nature bad and great right
01:02:11But it's time to
01:02:15Give the people something different
01:02:18So without further ado
01:02:21From either side of this famous rivalry
01:02:29Hope can somehow feel real
01:02:31Jamie, we've just seen Liverpool win their opening game of the season
01:02:38Although at times I don't know if you were 100% confident
01:02:42That that was going to be the case
01:02:43Arsenal go to Manchester United tomorrow
01:02:45They will very much be looking to take one step further on Sunday
01:02:49And win that Premier League trophy
01:02:50It's nearly midnight
01:02:51It might be tomorrow
01:02:52If they'll go on and win that Premier League trophy
01:02:55Who do you think is best place
01:02:57To challenge Liverpool
01:02:58And potentially go on and win it
01:02:59If they don't defend their trophy
01:03:01I'd probably say Arsenal
01:03:03As a whole
01:03:04As a club
01:03:05As a team
01:03:05But I've just got Pep Guardiola
01:03:07In the back of my mind
01:03:08And he just doesn't
01:03:09He just doesn't not win
01:03:11You know
01:03:11When he doesn't win a league title
01:03:13You know
01:03:14I don't think he's gone two years
01:03:15Without winning a league title
01:03:16And he's such a special manager
01:03:17And you think
01:03:17Is he going to conjure something up
01:03:19But then
01:03:19I'm also thinking
01:03:20Is the City squad now
01:03:22Good enough to go and win the league
01:03:23Right now
01:03:24With what they've got
01:03:24Because the squad he had last season
01:03:26He couldn't find something to fix it
01:03:28And we always expect him to do that
01:03:29So
01:03:29I'd probably just edge for Arsenal
01:03:32Gary
01:03:33They're taking on Manchester United
01:03:35At Old Trafford
01:03:36There have been a couple of signings
01:03:38That the Manchester United fans
01:03:39Have been really happy about
01:03:40They've been really attacking signings
01:03:42They're looking for goals
01:03:43That was an issue
01:03:43Last season
01:03:44Have they got enough now
01:03:46In the squad
01:03:47To really improve
01:03:49From last season
01:03:50And how far can it take them
01:03:51Yeah I was thinking that before
01:03:52About Eketike
01:03:53We shouldn't take for granted
01:03:54What he's done
01:03:55In this last couple of weeks
01:03:56That kid
01:03:56He's 22
01:03:57When we say that
01:03:57People need time to settle in
01:03:59But there are a lot of
01:04:00Very good players
01:04:00Who've come into this league
01:04:01Who've gone straight for it
01:04:02Straight away
01:04:03And started scoring
01:04:04And then Bermill Cunha
01:04:05Cesco
01:04:06A lot of eyes on them
01:04:07At Manchester United
01:04:08I think Manchester United fans
01:04:09Including myself
01:04:10Are surprised
01:04:10That the club have gone
01:04:11And spent that level of money
01:04:12We thought obviously
01:04:13After the Europa League final
01:04:15That the money wouldn't be there
01:04:16At that level
01:04:17So to get those three players
01:04:18Who look like a really good profile
01:04:19Two of them have got
01:04:20Premier League experience
01:04:21We
01:04:25Need them to do well
01:04:27We need those three players
01:04:29To do well
01:04:29Because the rest of the team
01:04:30Look we need a goalkeeper
01:04:31There's definitely
01:04:32Obviously issues with the defence
01:04:33And midfield
01:04:33But if the three strikers
01:04:35Are a real handful
01:04:35And scoring goals
01:04:36Last season United's return
01:04:38In front of the goal
01:04:38Was really poor
01:04:39So it's really important
01:04:40That Cesco
01:04:41And Bermont Cunha
01:04:42Get off to a really good start
01:04:44We've seen a Liverpool striker
01:04:45Do that tonight
01:04:46There's no reason why
01:04:47United strikers
01:04:48Can't go and do that on Sunday
01:04:49If they start
01:04:50Is it Cesco
01:04:51Against Jocheres?
01:04:53I think it's fascinating
01:04:54The fact that
01:04:55Eketike
01:04:56Verts
01:04:57Pedro
01:04:58De Lap
01:04:59Jocheres
01:05:01Cesco
01:05:02These players all
01:05:03Come into big clubs
01:05:04How are they going to do
01:05:05We're not quite sure
01:05:06Are we?
01:05:06Obviously Eketike tonight
01:05:07Has given us a little bit
01:05:08Of a glimpse
01:05:08Of what he's like
01:05:09But there is pressure
01:05:10On all those players
01:05:11To deliver for Chelsea
01:05:13Manchester United
01:05:13Arsenal
01:05:14Liverpool
01:05:15They have to deliver
01:05:16They have to deliver
01:05:16The main man at City
01:05:17Obviously Highland
01:05:18We know he's going to
01:05:18Score goals
01:05:19But who of those rest
01:05:20Are going to emerge
01:05:21To become maybe
01:05:22A world class player
01:05:23So what's a good season
01:05:25For Manchester United?
01:05:26I think top six
01:05:27Would be a good season
01:05:28I think the four at the top
01:05:29Chelsea, Arsenal
01:05:29Liverpool, City
01:05:30I think it would be
01:05:31Difficult to challenge
01:05:32But they could slip
01:05:33Into that space
01:05:34Where Newcastle
01:05:35Tottenham
01:05:35Villa
01:05:36Other clubs are
01:05:37So I think
01:05:38In that fifth place
01:05:39Would be absolutely amazing
01:05:41Realistically
01:05:42I think it's probably
01:05:43Going to be between
01:05:44Sixth and eighth
01:05:44But I think fifth
01:05:45Is what they have
01:05:46To really target
01:05:47Aim for fifth
01:05:48And potentially end up
01:05:49Between sixth and eighth
01:05:50Do you think that's realistic
01:05:51For Manchester United?
01:05:53Yeah I think so
01:05:54I mean people will look
01:05:55Where they finished last season
01:05:56And say oh that's a huge jump
01:05:57But then you think of
01:05:57Some of the teams
01:05:58Who were up in those positions
01:05:59All last season
01:06:00Nottingham Forest
01:06:00Were fighting relegation
01:06:01This season before
01:06:02Brentford were up there
01:06:03For a lot of the season
01:06:04Bournemouth were up there
01:06:05For a lot of the season
01:06:06You know
01:06:06When you look at
01:06:07Those teams and those squads
01:06:09They haven't got better players
01:06:10Than Manchester United
01:06:11But I think the manager
01:06:13Has still got a lot to prove
01:06:15I do
01:06:15I think he's had about
01:06:1640 games now
01:06:17Which is a decent run
01:06:18You know in terms of
01:06:19Sort of trying to get
01:06:20His message across
01:06:20And it didn't quite happen
01:06:21At all
01:06:22I can't get that sort of
01:06:24You know final out of my head
01:06:25Really about how poor
01:06:26They were in that game
01:06:27So I think
01:06:27He's almost got a lot
01:06:29To prove as well
01:06:30Because Manchester United
01:06:31No matter what set of players
01:06:32They've got on the pitch
01:06:33They shouldn't finish
01:06:34Was it 15th
01:06:34They finished last season
01:06:36Man United's squad of players
01:06:38And the expenditure
01:06:39Whoever the manager
01:06:40That squad of players
01:06:41Shouldn't be finished
01:06:42In that position
01:06:42So I don't think
01:06:436th, 7th is completely
01:06:45You know out of the question
01:06:47Because as I said
01:06:48They've spent what they always do
01:06:49250 million in the summer
01:06:50Is there patience
01:06:52Amongst the Manchester United fans
01:06:55Or do they
01:06:55Do they have to
01:06:56They've saved a lot of money
01:06:57Do they have to
01:06:59To start fast
01:07:01United fans are patient
01:07:03In the sense that
01:07:04They turn up every single week
01:07:05And they have done for
01:07:06You know for 26 years
01:07:07Without winning the league
01:07:08And the stadium's full
01:07:09They're incredibly loyal
01:07:10They're very loyal also
01:07:12To their managers
01:07:12You know they'll support Amrim
01:07:14Sometimes they can get
01:07:15A little bit disillusioned
01:07:17With the players
01:07:17If they feel like
01:07:18That heart and that spirit
01:07:19And that fight's not there
01:07:20I don't think you can say that
01:07:22In this last 12 to 18 months
01:07:23That's not been the problem
01:07:24I think the problem's been
01:07:25The quality
01:07:25The lack of quality
01:07:27In terms of the players
01:07:28Particularly in forward areas
01:07:29Is just nowhere near good enough
01:07:30Now if they correct that
01:07:32And start scoring goals
01:07:33You become obviously
01:07:33A lot harder team to beat
01:07:35Yet there is a problem
01:07:36In central midfield
01:07:36It doesn't look like
01:07:37Bruno Fernandes
01:07:38Has got the right partner
01:07:39At this moment in time
01:07:40And then obviously
01:07:41You've got the goalkeeper
01:07:42So there's things that
01:07:42I think he'd still want to change
01:07:44It's quite a unique system
01:07:45I think it was always
01:07:46Going to take some time
01:07:46To get used to it
01:07:47I was hoping that to be fair
01:07:49I said at the time
01:07:49It would suit some of these players
01:07:51Give them a stronger base
01:07:52Because there isn't really
01:07:53A pair of centre-backs there
01:07:54That can play in a four
01:07:55So I thought it would suit them
01:07:56But it didn't do
01:07:56And it ended up being
01:07:57A real sort of challenge for them
01:07:58They've looked better
01:08:00In pre-season
01:08:01The fans will always be patient
01:08:03But I think that ultimately
01:08:04They need to get a decent start
01:08:06And they've got a few
01:08:06Tough fixtures
01:08:07In this first few games
01:08:08I actually feel quite confident
01:08:09About them on Sunday
01:08:10I think they'll give a really
01:08:11Good performance
01:08:11I think it's a big day
01:08:12And Arsenal
01:08:13You know
01:08:14Arsenal have got to go
01:08:15And win
01:08:15I agree with Jamie
01:08:16I think Arsenal are the team
01:08:17Really that have got to go
01:08:18And challenge Liverpool
01:08:18This season
01:08:19While you're feeling confident
01:08:20Do you want to do the promos?
01:08:22Absolutely
01:08:22Let's take a look
01:08:23At what's coming up for you
01:08:24On Sky Sports
01:08:25Live only on Sky Sports
01:08:30We've got 215 fixtures this season
01:08:33And you've just seen the first one
01:08:35And on tomorrow night
01:08:36Kelly you're going to be there
01:08:37At Wolves
01:08:37Against Manchester City
01:08:39To see how Pep Guardiola's team do
01:08:41Yeah and then Super Sunday
01:08:42You've got Chelsea Crystal Palace
01:08:44Will you be at Nottingham Forest
01:08:45Grenford?
01:08:46No I won't be at Nottingham Forest
01:08:47On Sunday
01:08:48Because I wasn't chosen
01:08:49For that fixture
01:08:49I was chosen for Manchester United
01:08:51Versus Arsenal
01:08:52And Monday Night Football
01:08:54But I have been chosen
01:08:56For Monday Night Football
01:08:57First and last of the season
01:08:58And a couple in between
01:08:59Absolutely
01:08:59No I do a first
01:09:00And the last of the season
01:09:01This is my first one
01:09:02And then I do the last
01:09:02The predictions on Monday
01:09:04Where we all make
01:09:05Basically idiots for ourselves
01:09:06And end up regretting it
01:09:08For the rest
01:09:08By the way though
01:09:09Cara believes
01:09:10That you should do a prediction
01:09:11At the start of the season
01:09:12Then you should do it again
01:09:13Every three weeks
01:09:14And change your mind
01:09:14That's how he thinks
01:09:15Predictions should be
01:09:16But Leeds and Everton
01:09:16We're going to do our predictions
01:09:17I tell you what
01:09:18Sky Sports are getting the money
01:09:19Out of you this weekend
01:09:20So predictions then
01:09:24On the Monday Night Football
01:09:25But if you think
01:09:26You can do better
01:09:27Than Jamie and Gary
01:09:29Then there is a chance
01:09:30That you could win
01:09:32One million pounds
01:09:33You have to predict
01:09:34Six fixtures
01:09:35In the three o'clock kick-offs
01:09:36All the entries in
01:09:37Obviously before
01:09:38Three o'clock
01:09:39It starts tomorrow
01:09:40Meanwhile here at Anfield
01:09:45The defence of the title
01:09:46Started well for Liverpool
01:09:48With a 4-2 victory
01:09:49Against Bournemouth
01:09:51But it was
01:09:52An ex-player of Liverpool's
01:09:54A former player of Liverpool's
01:09:56Who was remembered
01:09:57In the goal celebrations
01:09:58Hugo Ekiteke
01:09:59With a goal
01:10:00And an assist
01:10:01Showing the number 20
01:10:02As did Cody Gakpo
01:10:04And Mohamed Salah
01:10:05With the baby shark celebration
01:10:07That was made famous
01:10:09By Diogo Jota
01:10:10Forever number 20
01:10:13Sky Sports Premier League
01:10:25Sky Sports Premier League
01:10:25How you doing?
01:10:34How you doing?
01:10:34If you
01:10:59You were doing
01:11:04Grey
01:11:05You may be going to be
01:11:05You were going to be
01:11:06In the middle of the
01:11:07lived in the middle of the
01:11:08I'm really going to be
01:11:09With the place
01:11:10You can see
01:11:11The two things
01:11:11You just have to be
01:11:12Staying in the middle of the
01:11:12Baby shark
01:11:15And then I'll be
01:11:15And then I'll be
