00:00Actress Nadia Montenegro has resigned as political officer in Senator Robin Hood Padilla's office following allegations of marijuana use inside the Senate.
00:16In her written explanation, Montenegro said she received two memoranda in mid-August directing her to explain news reports and an incident report linking her to the allegation.
00:28She denied being the unnamed Senate employee mentioned in the stories and stressed that no such incident happened in their office, adding that no report from the Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms identified her.
00:41The incident report cited two marijuana-like odors inside the Senate. It claimed that Montenegro was the only one present.
00:49Meanwhile, she denied smoking marijuana, saying she only had a flavored vape and showed it to security.
00:59Montenegro also urged the Senate to review how such reports reached the media prematurely.
01:06Despite her resignation, Montenegro stood by her denial, saying that the damage has been done.
