Crimson banner incinerated on Derry bonfire despite appeals from politicians and bishop

00:00On behalf of Bishop McEwan, I want to make a direct appeal to those people who are in

00:05possession of the American flag taken from Foyle College and the crimson flag taken from

00:12St Colm's Cathedral to make sure that they are not destroyed. These flags may not mean

00:18much to those who are in possession of the present time, but they're of a very significant

00:23historical importance and their destruction would cause innumerable, irreparable damage

00:31to community relations. And so to us to maintain the moral high ground, I appeal to those who are

00:36in possession of them to keep them safe and to please return them as soon as possible.

00:40And I make this appeal on behalf of Bishop McEwan.
