The real atmosphere of Galle Face Green: couples sitting by the sea, kids flying kites, families enjoying snacks, and tourists taking photos. It’s a must-visit spot if you’re in Colombo.

On my final evening in Sri Lanka, I visited Galle Face Green—Colombo’s most iconic seaside promenade 🇱🇰.
Galle Face Green is a long coastal park along the Indian Ocean, located in the heart of Colombo. It’s a popular spot for couples, families, and groups of friends to relax, fly kites, enjoy street food, and watch the sunset. The area is surrounded by famous hotels like Galle Face Hotel, Shangri-La, and Taj Samudra, and offers beautiful views of the city skyline and the sea.
I walked the entire stretch of Galle Face Green, soaking in the ocean breeze and watching locals enjoy their evening. There were food stalls selling isso wade (prawn fritters), achcharu (Sri Lankan pickles), kottu roti, and fresh juices.
The vibe was peaceful and lively at the same time—perfect for ending my Sri Lanka journey.
