00:27largest displacement crisis it has fueled famine and disease but it's only intensifying the war

00:34and the rsf has been pushing for more control not just in terms of territory but also politically

00:40a few weeks ago the rss unveiled a parallel government but now the united nations has

00:47rejected it so what does this mean for the war here's a report

02:56has been declared in many parts of the country some residents of the area are reportedly surviving on

03:04animal fodder and food waste the escalating needs make it imperative to address the hunger situation

03:11at a scale that is actually required the sudan has been hit by its worst cholera outbreak in years as

03:18well at least 40 people have died over the span of one week in the western darfur region alone

03:25cholera can be easily treated with cheap medicines but they aren't accessible

03:29as people seek refuge from the bloodshed in cramped spaces health services are unable to handle the

03:36disease burden relentless violence has pushed sudan health system to the edge adding to a crisis marked

03:43by hunger illness and despair cholera has swept across sudan with all the states reporting outbreaks

03:49nearly 100 000 cases have been reported since july last year as for cholera we try to fight it by

03:56squeezing a lemon into the water we mix lemon in the water when we have it and drink it as medicine

04:03we have no other choice even the water itself is scarce so as people of the sudan brave hunger

04:10displacement and disease fighting continues to rage after rejecting the rival government

04:16the un has called for talks between the army and rsf to reach a lasting ceasefire

04:21danger unsurprisingly the sudan has already heard this advice one too many times

04:27but this call for peace has not been able to stop the war that is ravaging the country
