00:00So a bit of a later video, some big breaking news from the North East Non-League scene.
00:07South Shields, National League North Club signing Kedwin Scott from Carlisle United,
00:12undisclosed fee, I believe it's a two-year deal.
00:15Big move from the Mariners, reunites Kedwin with Ian Watson and Carl Magne,
00:23who worked under during the time at Gaithead when they won the National League North title.
00:30Got a move to Notts County on the back of his performances during the title winning season.
00:37Was part of a brilliant Notts County side that pushed big spending Wrexham all the way in the National League title race.
00:44Just fell short. Kedwin, as I'm sure he wouldn't like me to bring this up, but had a penalty saved by Ben Forsten.
00:55Been a big game between the two sides, between Wrexham and Notts County, but redeemed himself in the grand manner.
01:04Scoring the winning penalty in a shootout in the promotion final win against Chesterfield at Wembley.
01:10Since then, went back to Carlisle where he'd had a spell early in his career.
01:15Couldn't help them stay in the Football League and has now moved to South Shields.
01:21This one, to me, feels like one that ticks all the boxes for South Shields.
01:26A player that Ian Watson knows well. A player that knows the league.
01:30A player called Magne knows. There's a number of teammates there that he's played alongside at Gaithead.
01:35The likes of your Robbie Tinklers and Paul Blackett as well.
01:40And what he will give them is, you know, by his own admission, Kedwin can play in several different roles across the front line.
01:49Likes coming deep, getting involved in build-up play.
01:52Whereas Paul Blackett, it'll give him a chance to be kind of more of an out-and-out striker way he can be in around the box.
01:57So I think from that tactical side of things, it's a good fit for South Shields.
02:03But also, there was always a little bit of a concern that if Paul Blackett got injured, South Shields could maybe struggle for a leading striker.
02:13There are other options in the squad now.
02:14Dan Savage, Academy product, is really impressed in pre-season.
02:21But Kedwin would be able to lead the line. He'd be able to play as a nine.
02:24He'd be able to give them that presence up front as well.
02:28But I just think this is a really, really good signing.
02:31It comes a couple of days before they go to Leamington in the second game of the season on the back of a good home win against Marine last Saturday.
02:40So it's a big plus, big plus for South Shields.
02:43A good signing, good character as Kedwin.
02:46Got to know him really well during his time with Hebbin, with Dunstan and obviously with Gaithead.
02:51So really looking forward to seeing how he gets on.
02:55Just to give you a little bit of history on the deal as well.
02:58Or certainly on South Shields' interest in Kedwin Scott.
03:01This isn't a new thing.
03:04There's been interest in him, certainly since Ian Watson took over in the summer.
03:08But it kind of predates even his move to Gaithead.
03:11Because when Kedwin hit, unbelievable form during his time with Hebbin Town.
03:17I think he'd scored 24 goals by the time the midway point of the season had been reached during his last time there.
03:24Before he went on trial at Newcastle United.
03:26Before he went on trial at Carlisle.
03:28And then got his first spell with them.
03:30South Shields showed interest in taking him to the first cloud arena.
03:36And getting him in their squad as they made their way up the non-lead pyramid.
03:40But obviously when the likes of Newcastle and Carlisle come calling.
03:44It was just too much to resist.
03:48So yeah, really interesting move.
03:50Really looking forward to seeing how Kedwin gets on there.
03:52Good bit of backing for Ian Watson.
03:55And Carl Magnate South Shields as well.
03:57And let's see how he goes.
03:59Let's see how he goes.
