Three escape uninjured from Albion Park house fire

More than 20 firefighters are at the house on Stephens Street, with the small road filled with fire trucks, ambulances and police. Footage by Nadine Morton, Adam McLean.

00:00Look, just after 12.30, we had calls to a house fire in Albion Park.

00:05When the crews arrived, they found the garage area well alight

00:08and it was spreading into the house.

00:11The three occupants of the house self-evacuated

00:14because their smoke alarm had gone off and warned them about it.

00:17So really, really good that they had a working smoke alarm,

00:19which was to let them know safely to get out of the house.

00:23Is there any idea of how it started?

00:25Not at this point. We're going to do some investigation.

00:28But the crews got in there really quick.

00:29They were able to stop it spreading right through the house

00:31and contain it just to the garage area.

00:34Look, it's probably, we'll have a look at it when it's finished,

00:37but I'd say looking at the outside,

00:38it's probably not going to be safe for them to stay tonight,

00:40so we'll have to look at organising somewhere for them to stay.

00:43At this stage, it's just a bit of mopping up and we'll have a look.

00:46We'll do a bit of an investigation to see if we can determine what the cause is.
