Lying film is a short film written, produced and directed by Demetri Landell. The film is about four high school teenagers Jack, Danielle, Ben and Melissa who are trying to solve a string of serious bullying situations that have been occurring ongoing at their school prior, While they are facing a similar situation they realize the answer behind everything when the truth comes out in the end and the whole experience shows a powerful example that lying and taking advantage is the problem not the solution

00:00Hey! Hey! How are you doing today? Good. How are you? I'm good. Yeah. It's a beautiful day today.
00:22It is absolutely gorgeous. It is. Have a nice workout. All right. Have a nice day. Thank you.
00:28I haven't seen her in a while. I haven't seen her in a minute. I know. She went so fast.
00:35I mean, I couldn't give her any words, but it's okay. She looks good. She's working on that wig line.
00:40She's speaking up. Let's go to lunch. Let's go to lunch sometime. Let's do it. Let's do it today.
00:45It's a beautiful weekend outside. Let's go. Let's go. All right. I'll see you in a moment. Bye-bye.
00:50Hey, uh, honey, are you busy?
00:57No. What's up?
01:00So I got this email from the kids' school. Apparently there's been some really bad bullying going on. Like, just awful sounding stuff. Have you heard anything about this?
01:12No. That's awful. Yeah, we're going to need to talk to the kids about this. Absolutely.
01:19Hey, uh, Jack? Kids, could you guys come down here, please? Double time. Hey, Mom and Dad. Hey, kiddos. How are you guys doing?
01:31Good. Pretty good. Just getting ready for school. All right. Well, listen, we just wanted to talk to you about something.
01:39So we got an email from your school saying that there's been some pretty bad bullying going on.
01:48This, like, pretty ugly stuff. Have any of you seen or heard anything about that?
01:56What do you mean by that? Yeah, what do you mean? I have stuff to do.
02:03Well, kids, the principal is requesting that all students and parents report anything that they see.
02:11Sounds fair.
02:13So, you really have to make sure if you see anything like that, you tell us. You make sure your teachers know. You tell your principal, okay?
02:23Okay. Yes, sir. Promise? Pinky swearer? Okay. Pinky. All right.
02:32Oh, hey. This is Katie's house. That must be Tyler and Ryan. I'll get it.
02:38Oh, hey, guys. Hi, Katie. How are you doing? I'm good. Are you ready to hell to school?
02:43Yeah, hold on. Let me grab my bag with her.
02:48Mom, Dad, I'll leave you for school. Have a nice day. Love you, too.
02:53Love you, too.
02:56Now, hold on.
02:59Hey, everyone. Hi. I want to talk to you about something.
03:04Sure. Sure. What did you want to talk about?
03:06Well, there's been a lot of coverage on the news about the bullying incidents.
03:10Okay. Well, what about it?
03:11Well, I've been getting a lot of parent phone calls about it.
03:14So, if you hear anything at all, you need to let them know it's being investigated.
03:19Yes, ma'am. Okay. All right. Will do.
03:21Man, that's awful. There's still so much bullying going around at the school.
03:33You're telling me.
03:35The real question is, who's doing this and what led to create the problem?
03:39You know, the news said that sometimes things can start as small problems and then turn into major issues.
03:45I mean, it's crazy how quickly bullying can turn into violence.
03:48Yeah, I've heard that.
03:51But who did something to make something so major happen?
03:57I don't know, but we need to figure it out.
04:03Well, well, well. What do we have here?
04:06Hello, Travis. Can I help you?
04:09Yes. My problem is you.
04:12What are you talking about?
04:13I'm surprised there are people like you in here.
04:16What do you mean people like us?
04:19Well, people who look like you are always up to no good.
04:23Excuse me, but we aren't starting any trouble.
04:25Yeah, Travis. Leave us alone.
04:27Or else what?
04:28We'll tell the principal.
04:29What did you say?
04:31You heard us. Stop bullying us.
04:33All right. Have it your way.
04:38Go, Travis.
04:39I promise.
04:40That's exactly what you guys get for talking back and provoking me.
04:43Hey. Hey.
04:44All right. All right.
04:45What's the matter? What's going on here?
04:47Principal Lisa, thank God you're here.
04:48They just harassed and bullied us for no reason.
04:50Hey. Let's not.
04:51He's just lying.
04:52He assaulted us for no reason.
04:54That's a lie.
04:55She's right.
04:56All right. Let's come on to my office.
04:58Let's go. Let's go.
04:59Unbelievable.
05:00Let's go. Let's go.
05:01Unbelievable.
05:02Danielle and Jack, it saddens me to have to say this, but I'm going to have to suspend you for a few days.
05:18For what?
05:19For bullying and harassment.
05:21This is ridiculous.
05:22That doesn't make any sense.
05:25Well, Travis had a big gash in his arm. It required five stitches. He had a bite from the dog.
05:31My dog is a source dog. They don't behave that way.
05:36There's a first time for everything.
05:40And besides, Travis said that he acted the way he did in self-defense.
05:46And me getting pushed on the ground and my friends and my brother defending me are nothing?
05:51They didn't get physical. He did.
05:53I'd be careful on your accusations. We're not done with the investigation yet.
05:58It's not accusations. It's fact.
06:01Why are you blaming our kids?
06:03This is very clearly victim blaming. And honestly, it's discrimination.
06:08No, I'm not discriminating against anyone. And I'm not victim blaming. I am investigating.
06:14And in the meantime, I think we should let things calm down.
06:21And being away from school will help that.
06:26Alright. That's it. Let's go. That's enough.
06:31This is wrong on so many levels. Yes, it is.
06:35Hey guys. Listen, I know this is really unfair, but we will get through this together.
06:44I'm gonna call our lawyer and let him know what's going on.
06:47We'll see y'all when we get home.
06:49Bye.
06:50Bye.
06:51Love you.
06:52Love you too.
06:53You guys be safe.
06:54You too.
06:56Hey guys.
06:57So what did the principal say?
06:59The principal lied on us.
07:01Saying that we were bullying and harassing our bullies.
07:05That's suspended us.
07:06That's not fair.
07:08Huh. Tell me about it.
07:09Something doesn't add up.
07:11We're gonna get to the bottom of this.
07:14What's going on?
07:15Oh my God.
07:21I knew it.
07:22I can't believe this.
07:23I knew it.
07:31I don't know what I'm gonna do.
07:33Danielle and Jack's parents are on to me.
07:37Relax. We've got this.
07:39How?
07:40They're making accusations.
07:42They're asking questions.
07:44It was your idea to begin with.
07:46To cover up the bullying.
07:47To protect Travis's dad from the upcoming school board election.
07:50Are we even gonna get those payouts?
07:52Oh God.
07:53You know, sometimes when you lie, credibility becomes quite questionable.
07:58Of course.
07:59We'll be fine.
08:00We'll be fine.
08:01Travis lied.
08:02I told him to lie and say it was in self defense.
08:05We'll be good.
08:06Yeah.
08:07Hopefully that'll work.
08:08I hope you're right.
08:09I need that money.
08:10Yeah.
08:17Good afternoon.
08:18Are you the principal?
08:19Yes, I am.
08:20And you are?
08:21You all are under arrest.
08:24Arrest from what?
08:25Obstruction, tampering with evidence, robbery fraud, and failing to protect the minors.
08:32You have absolutely no proof of that.
08:35Yes, we do.
08:36All of your victims have come forward with evidence against you.
08:39You all will be going away for a long time.
08:42Well, officers, I think there's been a misunderstanding.
08:46Okay?
08:47I was just trying to make sure that everybody was safe.
08:49There's a difference.
08:50Looking after the safety of others means intervening and preventing before a situation happens.
08:55But turning a blind eye, that's a criminal offense.
08:58I'm gonna be dealing with Miranda rights.
09:01You are under arrest.
09:03Anything you say can and will be used against you.
09:07In the court of law.
09:10If you do not have an attorney, one will be appointed to you.
09:16Do you understand these rights?
09:17Yes, we understand it.
09:18Thank you very much.
09:19One of you.
09:28We're live with an update on the bullying and assault incidents.
09:33The police have arrested the principal and some of the other staff for their involvement in this situation.
09:40The principal and the conspirators have been charged with obstruction, tampering with evidence, bribery, fraud, false imprisonment, and failing to protecting a minor.
09:52Authorities are still investigating the connection.
09:58I will keep you posted on this case.
10:01I am L.A. Anderson.
10:02Back to you, Paul.
10:03I can't believe this.
10:05Yeah, why would the principal do something like that?
10:09Yeah.
10:10Yeah, I agree.
10:11This is just wrong on so many levels.
10:14Yeah.
10:15The principal and staff, they planned to frame us innocent for the guilty crime we might be fined.
10:26I'm just glad the real criminals were caught.
10:29I don't understand why the principal would do something like this.
10:34No matter what happens and who's involved, it's always important to treat everyone with respect.
10:41Always, always do the right thing.
10:44Especially when standing up to those involved.
10:47Lying and taking advantage of people never does any good.
10:52It just causes more problems.
10:54I agree, Mom.
10:56Exactly what you taught us.
10:59No matter what's going on in our lives, we always respect others and do the right thing.
11:09Because when we do the right thing, situations can easily be avoided.
11:14We need to avoid wrongful doing.
11:19Yeah, no matter what we do, right or wrong, it always comes back to us.
11:23Amen to that.
11:24Ew, you room!
11:25Ugh!
11:26Ugh!
11:27Ugh!
11:28Ew, you room!
