00:58well when you put them down for like six sacks is that they're not obviously drake may drag to the
01:03ground but these are on that play a sack would have been viable well yes that was trending towards
01:08being a sack right but you know you know he doesn't you know obviously you you don't know he could have
01:14escaped the sack ran around maybe avoided the sack but in this in this uh in this environment yes that
01:20is a yeah he is one of the best second reaction quarterbacks in football number nine baby
01:25i will also say i have spent a lot of time you guys know on the hill with a lot of these people
01:32that are tweeting and their assessments and they generally sick break are pretty positive they
01:38generally give the benefit of the doubt so if i would agree if i read six sacks you know what that
01:43tells me seven or eight because i think there were a couple that they kind of brushed off and let him
01:47step up slide throw and i go i don't know that he would have really done that in a game situation so
01:52six to me is an alarmingly big number yes dan ball i also thought it was interesting all of them
01:58mentioned in different play oh well he had a couple of long long completions couple long touchdowns

02:06able to hit him there there's nothing about the quick passes the easy passes moving the offense up the
02:13field the thing that at least for me personally worries me about him the most so can i just just uh

03:03there's going to be a short passing game there's going to be an intermediate passing there's going to
03:06be screens there's going to be those things you have to hit those functionally and i haven't seen
03:12those get hit often enough at a high level for the last week plus now and that's a lot of that's
03:19the line guys again yep a hundred percent when i read that will campbell two sacks allowed jared
03:25wilson at least one there was some holding calls like that's that's a problem and i'm not saying this

03:59today uh i heard variable say a lot of full field stuff so not a lot of red zone situational
04:04and also the situational stuff one thing he noted they would be doing that kevin o'connell likes to
04:09work on his second and long which on track haven't heard a lot of that over my years where like there
04:13was a specific segment like you know we're gonna really work on second and long and vrabel said like
04:18get half the yardage get back on track get to third and manageable so those are some of the parameters
04:23of what they're doing today but the um that that six sacks just jumps off the page does does does the
04:31two interceptions and and two pick sixes by josh dobs do we do we are we concerned about our backup
04:38quarterback nope okay don't really care you don't think the backup quarterback might be in play if
04:43uh you know drake may you know got hurt well he's games but if drake may gets hurt then i'm gonna you

05:08being our starting quarterback so would you rather have josh dobs experience if if i if the last five
05:12years of nfl watching and fandom are to be any sort of indicator he'll come in one week like oh here
05:18comes josh dobs half an injury he'll look amazing and look amazing the next week and then three weeks
05:23later or two weeks later four picks and i think that's literally happened like whether it was
05:27cardinals or another team i do apologize for not remembering exactly which team it was but that's
05:32what you're signing up for with him and as far as these one-on-ones and some of the other drills go
05:36just you know on the commercial break check out some of the throws that drake may was making to
05:40steph diggs and what and the the absolute roller skates that steph did well it was one-on-ones which
05:45isn't team so it's it's a little it's a lot easier i'm also looking to divine some or any positives
05:52because i i i feel like i'm i feel like i'm at a coffee shop with 75 year olds right now it's like

06:31steph diggs i haven't seen i need to see him more yes flash i mean he the the the the the practice
06:36against the the uh commanders we were at he he was late getting to the field and then he hardly
06:41participated he didn't play in the preseason game so i i need to see more steph diggs so it's hard
06:46for me to get all worked up in a one-on-one drill when you have a unnamed corner and press coverage
06:51getting sizzled by steph diggs most of them would that doesn't you know get me going like like based
06:58on the evidence leading up to to the you know up to today's camp and the the pessimistic view maybe
07:04but i just i can't envision fitzy and i think he looks great physically he's definitely ahead of where
07:11i thought physically i expected we were going to be having debates about pup leading into camp and then
07:17about whether active for the first game right i'm assuming he's going to be active and on the field
07:22for the first game but he is still a 30 something receiver coming off an acl so i can't count on him
07:29to simply carry the offense to go out there and be randy moss and say everything else will just come
07:34from stephane diggs and that's my concern and i get it you don't have stevenson out there you don't
07:39have hunter henry out there there's aspects of your offense which may not be elite in their own right
07:44but at least they're your best and they're not out there so there are reasons for this that you
07:49could kind of put it all into perspective that being said it's not good it's just like i said
07:55friday night was a positive even though it came against backups it's still a positive you went out
08:01there you competed you executed you scored points drake may made some good decisions running the ball
08:06i'm going to give you credit for that because i would crap all over you if you didn't do that right
08:11oh you went against backups and you still couldn't do anything the flip is true today i have to
08:16acknowledge what happened on a football field today in minnesota and what you put forth as an offense
08:21isn't good enough it's i believe mike vrabel would put a lot of today's practice in that third bucket

08:45efton chisholm the third praise and wants to turn that into a bit of a competition when you go up and
08:50win uh and make big plays like that earn yourself some first team reps that'll make it a competition
08:55so again just looking uh not to be blindly optimistic or be wearing patriots tinted glasses just looking for
09:03some of the positives uh amidst the the disappointment of the anticipate this was also anticipated i think
09:09all of us in the room thought yeah this line which is still patchwork at best is going to struggle
09:15against brian flores even when somebody a starter and a very good starter like van ginkle wasn't even
09:20out on the field today oof van ginkle i forgot he plays for the vikings sneaky good oh not even sneaky
09:27when he was with the dolphins my goodness um i forgot van ginkle that guy oh he's fast beat up
09:33the patriots fast um you know it's it's i i do still think i would way rather them go out there and
09:39throw up all over themselves against this kind of defense and this kind of team um even though it
09:44doesn't really feel like it builds confidence you know i don't the united states men's hockey team
09:51played russia in a little friendly before the olympics got their asses kicked but at least they
09:57knew what to expect and when they played them for real i think there's a huge benefit in going out
10:02there and even getting your ass kicked uh for for a young offense like the patriots i also think
10:07there's something to be said or speculated about that i thought there were times where drake may
10:13looked really good i thought they had a good practice against washington i think there's a chance
10:17josh mcdaniels has turned the dial up has ramped things up and said okay we laid a foundation you
10:23guys look like you're actually getting this crap well guess what that was 101 now we need to get to
10:27201 and 301 because the season's coming so there could be that factor in this not just the defense
10:33you're going against but maybe they're trying to do different things and ramp it up a little bit and
10:37maybe some of the players are like whoa head spinning a little bit i got the first stuff but now
10:41we got to move forward so i am not ready as i said yesterday i'm not ready to say
10:45offense stinks team stinks drake may stinks but i'm also not ready to just go ah it's august it's
10:53preseason it's practice nothing to worry about something it's a blend of the two two things one
10:58um to let the audience know 4 30 we'll actually have somebody who was out at the joint practices

11:24about no christian gonzalez and then carl davis was there five he participated in all the team
11:28oh he did yes yes okay so he came back yes because i saw the initial phil perry right walked off the
11:34right no he's he came back and uh do we know why he walked off i do not because i i continue to say
11:40something seems weird with him i agree something is off from all the way back totally agree and this
11:45just adds to it even that he came back is good the fact that he walked off is bad the fact that he
11:49came back is is good if he didn't come back then i'd be like what are we doing here but also like
11:54any other player if they walked off right now i wouldn't look at the same as davis because i hold
11:58the rest of it against him if that makes sense yeah like some guy could have to go to the bathroom
12:02yeah yeah he had mexican last night he's got to run off go to the bathroom come back it happens man
12:06but if carlton davis goes off i go what's going on here because he's he's his behavior is not
12:11consistent with a guy that feels like he's bought in or committed yes that's what it feels like and
12:16we're counting on him and we're very much counting and we have this tandem that we think could be
12:19one of the best cornerback tandems in football correct but we have to have faith because we've
12:22never actually really seen it on a football field together in the summer i i feel like he's a
12:27veteran that's being like who feels like you know what they i know they need me yeah they know they
12:32need me and so i'm gonna i'm gonna kind of take advantage of this situation you know what that
12:36sounds like entitlement yeah you know what variable said he was getting rid of entitlement entitlement
12:41okay that's not
