00:05from the administration, the White House today, saying that DC is being made
00:08safer and they put out some arrest numbers and numbers of guns being seized.
00:12How would you characterize this operation? Has it made DC safer? NPD takes
00:19guns off the street every day and every week. In any time you have a surge of
00:25officers I would expect that you have some results. I say repeatedly we need
00:31500 more officers in DC. 500 more officers get 500 more officers worth of
00:38results. So what is not necessary however is this kind of commandeering of the
00:47attempted commandeering of the force itself and the expanded I think work
00:54that is not related to violence. So additionally with this the takeover.
01:00What is what does that mean? What is the what coordination is there?
01:03Well let me let me correct you. Let me correct you. There is no takeover. What
01:08there is is a surge in federal law enforcement and that surge in federal
01:13law enforcement necessarily has to coordinate with the Metropolitan Police
01:19Department under the leadership of Pamela Smith, the Chief of Police.
01:23Are they coordinating to your satisfaction? I think there's going to be work to be done
01:27for sure but you know there's work to be done. Yes.
01:33That's a question for the Department of the Army. Well you must be concerned about that since
01:45they're not trained in law enforcement. They can't do law enforcement as far as I know.
01:49So is that it's got to be concerning to you that if they're armed?
01:55That is not what I have been advised and unless their orders have somehow changed I don't know
