00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World, my name's Theo Heusenbet and it's another great day
00:03in Manchester today.
00:05And that's because we're talking about food, and particularly everyone's favourite lunchtime
00:08staple, the humble sandwich.
00:10Except in Manchester, it's no longer quite so humble.
00:14Places like Admiora, Badabing and Fat Pats are turning out some wonderful bread-based
00:18treats and seem to have changed the sandwich game here in the city, perhaps forever.
00:23Now for those of you who got excited merely at the mention of some of those names, boy
00:26oh boy do we have a treat for you come September time.
00:29Because the lads and ladies over at campus, which is just alongside the canal near the
00:33gay village, are hosting the world's greatest sandwich festival right here in the city of
00:38Manchester and are inviting some brilliant local vendors to show off some brilliant products,
00:42as well as some people from a little bit further afield.
00:44Now the festival itself is called Sarney UK and will take place over two days from the
00:4912th to the 13th of September.
00:51There will be 10 different teams there building brilliant sandwiches, aforementioned Badabing
00:56being one of them and they're joined by Rack as well as places like Pollen, Madre and Osmer.
01:01On top of that, a host of chefs from up and down the north will be creating never-before-seen
01:05sandwiches purely for the festival.
01:08There will obviously also be drinks, a great range of ice-cold beers with cocktails from
01:11crack and rum and Tito's vodka being served alongside offerings from current campus residents
01:16such as Nell's Pizza 2.
01:18Reform Radio will be there outside blasting some music as well to bring the party atmosphere,
01:22so it really promises to be a great weekend.
01:24In terms of cost, the party itself is free to attend but you do have to buy tokens for
01:28the sandwiches.
01:29Those come to around £8 each or £22 for three tokens which isn't bad at all when you consider
01:34how expensive lunches can be in the city now.
01:37So let us know what your favourite sandwich of all time is and follow Manchester World for
01:41more.
