00:00Middlesbrough were dumped out of this season's Carabao Cup at home by Doncaster Rovers by four goals to nil at the Riverside Stadium on Tuesday evening, leaving Rob Edwards most displeased.
00:12It was a painful night in the end. Result-wise, it doesn't look good. I can try and dress it up and say we had some chances or we could have shot probably 12 times more than what we did.
00:23But I won't do that right now. With all some of that, the lads know what we think. I want to thank the supporters for sticking with that and giving us the energy that they did.
00:41We didn't return our end of the bargain. I think, yeah, difficult night.
00:48Yeah, and in that first half, they kind of did cause a lot of problems, especially in that first 30 minutes. Where did you think that came from?
00:56Well, we weren't good enough with the ball. So if you don't keep the ball, then they're going to have it more than what we want.
01:03We had to adjust how we were pressing them because they were able to find their deep midfielder too often because we weren't getting the initial part of our press right.
01:13And Newcastle United have completed the signing of German international defender Malik Chau from AC Milan.
01:21The 24-year-old has arrived on a long-term contract with Eddie Howe speaking ahead of his arrival about wanting to make Newcastle's squad as good as possible for the upcoming season.
01:30Yeah, well, I think we will work as hard as we can to achieve that. And that's across the board. That's owners, board members, recruitment team.
01:43Everybody's working incredibly hard to get the desired outcome that we are seeking. Some things, to a degree, are out of our control.
01:51But as I said, we've got some very, very good players here. There's no doubting that the quality of the players and the collective attitude of the group, we're very motivated.
02:00I can see that with the group. Today's result, I could see the hurt and pain in the players.
02:05So there's no feeling other than we don't know the importance of next week and starting the Premier League well.
