00:00The golf competition that started a year before the inaugural Masters tournament.
00:07The Farm Foods British Parthory Championship returned to the West Midlands,
00:12celebrating its 92nd year at the historic Nalcote Hall in Warwickshire.
00:17With a week of golf involving celebrities and professionals,
00:21the event once again showcased the precision and nerve required for Parthory golf at the highest level.
00:27We took a trip down to the four day event to get a glimpse of what it's like hosting the tournament
00:34and the success it brings to the West Midlands.
00:39It's meant pretty much everything over the last 27 years since we relaunched it in 1998.
00:46The development of course is something that has gone on and on and on as a continual process
00:54and I have to say I think this year I think the course is in the best condition,
01:00the most competitive condition and looks the most beautiful that it ever has done.
01:05So in that respect it's been a labour of a lot of love for nearly 30 years.
01:10Yeah.
01:11And we'll be very well known from evening television.
01:16It's great to see, you know, some of the regulars as well like Keith Deller
01:21and some of the footballers that we've got here, Lee Hendry who's won the Celebrity Challenge.
01:28I think there's, yeah, there's just a great mix of people, really great mix.
01:35Away from the main leaderboard, West Bromach Albion hero Peter Odomwingi impressed fans with his natural touch around the greens.
01:42He believes Ryan Mason can make a strong impact at his former club.
01:47Yeah, this course, you know, you can sometimes hit a good shot.
01:51It just takes a wrong bounce and it's in trouble.
01:54But that's the test of this.
01:56Now you can see how windy it can be.
01:58This hole here today was troublesome with the wind.
02:02But I think that's when you can test your golfing skills, really.
02:05So I'm really happy to come here always and compare myself to last year.
02:10So hopefully this year I'm better a bit in the bunkers than any time I've ever come here.
02:16So I think this could help me.
02:18Well, I think the manager they just lost, was full of life, very motivated young manager.
02:23It's done well.
02:24So I think, you know, the club decided to go again for a young manager because it worked so far.
02:31He had, you know, he wanted a change in his life and test himself in another league.
02:35So on the day they appointed Ryan Mason, I was like, OK, that's interesting.
02:41So from what I read, he's promising.
02:46He's in Spurs, in Tottenham, people rated him quite high.
02:50So we'll see what he can do.
02:53And now I'm starting my coaching badges myself.
02:55I started a few months ago my UEFA badges.
02:58So I will be watching more games this season, Stoke City and West Brom.
03:04So I can learn from the other angles of football and managing.
03:07So I want to see how a young manager does too.
03:10But then when I signed for them, people said to me, why did you sign for them?
03:14They are your club.
03:15You will go down again.
03:16But then I looked at the history of those clubs.
03:19They've made the comebacks to the Premier Leagues a few times,
03:24which means there is reserves in that football club, fan base.
03:29There are people knowledgeable with the experience to get back up.
03:32So it's only a matter of time.
03:34I'm sure we will see West Brom and Stoke City back in the Premier League.
03:37So we're just watching which players and which manager will do it for them.
03:41We also caught up with actor Danny Walters known for his roles in EastEnders
03:47and Benidorm, who brought a touch of celebrity glamour to proceedings.
03:52It's not his first time here and he feels he's only making improvements.
03:57And then you can then take that into the bigger game, into the bigger courses,
04:00the par fives, the par fours.
04:02And I kind of feel like if you're really good at this course,
04:05then you can definitely use that to your advantage on, you know,
04:08the bigger, wider courses out there.
04:10And yeah, unless you're hitting the ball high and it lands,
04:14it's just going to roll off the back into the bunkers.
04:16And I think I was in every single bunker today.
04:19So my bunker play is A1.
04:21But yeah, it's definitely testing every year.
04:25Similar to the Masters par three in Augusta,
04:29the British par three combines relaxed community feels with serious competition.
04:35And at Nalcote Hall in the Midlands, it boasts a stage that keeps this unique tradition thriving once again.
04:42So that's just one minute.
04:51So I was here if I wake up once again.
04:52I'm gonna aquí click on blue and I'm gonna have to
