00:00:00For 1,600 yards, seven touchdowns and six interceptions, and really the backup job is his to hold on to behind Baker Mayfield.
00:00:09I think that's the right way to say it, right?
00:00:11You bring in Teddy Bridgewater this week just because they have some depth issues.
00:00:15Obviously, Baker's not going to play in this game, but Kyle knows his opportunity.
00:00:18It's staring him right in the face.
00:00:21Pickup of three.
00:00:24Trask steps up again.
00:00:26And high, and called out to outside the 35, and there is your rookie, Emeka Abuka, the first-rounder from Ohio State.
00:00:37Great pedigree from Emeka Abuka coming out of Ohio State.
00:00:41Five straight receivers have been drafted in the top 20, and this guy has the record for number of yards at that university.
00:00:48And I tell you what, Chris, the one thing that you'll notice about him over and over again, if there's a ball in the vicinity, this dude is going to catch it.
00:00:55Went up and got back for 21 yards, six feet, well, probably 6'1 is more accurate.
00:01:01Back to White straight ahead.
00:01:03Boy, the combo as White gets down to the 30-yard line.
00:01:06Opening drive continuing for the Bucs here, the 30 of Tennessee.
00:01:10Our keys to the game, give them to us, Rondé, presented by Ford F-150, official truck of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
00:01:16Well, you already mentioned there won't be a lot of starters in this game, but we have to evaluate these key backups.
00:01:20That's the goal of every preseason.
00:01:22Secondly, Grisard's groove.
00:01:24I love how we found an alliteration to talk about this new young offensive coordinator for the Bucs.
00:01:30And on defense, when they get to that side, the one thing that Todd Bowles emphasizes is tackling.
00:01:34It was a big problem for them last year.
00:01:36That's the cross.
00:01:40The 29 down to the 28-yard line.
00:01:43For Rashad White, you know, Bucky Irving stole the show, an outstanding rookie.
00:01:47And we'll get into the last couple of drafts.
00:01:49Jason Light and his crew, terrific work.
00:01:52His 4.3 yards per carry were the best of his career after he only averaged almost 3.5 as a rookie,
00:01:59and then 3.6 the year before that in his fourth season.
00:02:03But it was a good one-two punch.
00:02:051,000 yards from scrimmage for both him and the rookie, Bucky Irving.
00:02:08He has a valuable role.
00:02:09I mean, I know he's probably wanting to be the starting running back in this group,
00:02:13but as a number two, he's as good as anybody in the league.
00:02:16Traffs for the sideline.
00:02:18It's crowded over there.
00:02:19And complete for Abouken.
00:02:21You should mention, with Chris Godwin, unlikely to start the regular season after that second surgery on the leg.
00:02:33A reason to draft him and a reason they'll be counting on him.
00:02:36Well, I said he catches everything.
00:02:38I was actually really good.
00:02:39Almost every time.
00:02:40Down the sideline.
00:02:41But, yeah, you mentioned Chris Godwin.
00:02:43It's uncertain, you know, whether he's back in regular seasons in just four weeks.
00:02:48And I don't think that he's been on the practice field yet.
00:02:51So, it's really imperative that Emeka gets some valuable reps here in the preseason.
00:02:56We already saw Jalen McMillan have his big catch early in this game.
00:02:59But, it's one of the deepest positions on the team.
00:03:01And there's a lot of competition there for those backup players.
00:03:04Chase McLaughlin to try from 45.
00:03:06The kick is through.
00:03:11The NFL's second most accurate kicker over the last couple of seasons.
00:03:16Gets the box on the board on the opening drive.
00:03:21Whether it's DIY day.
00:03:23I have over three minutes of time and it ends with a field goal of 45 yards for the lead.
00:03:27Titans getting ready to receive.
00:03:29Hey, it's the Bucs.
00:03:30We mentioned 50th season.
00:03:31You've heard right now.
00:03:32But, the home opener is a campus celebration.
00:03:34The 76 jersey returns September 21st.
00:03:381 o'clock as the Bucs take out the Jets.
00:03:40Presented by Raylan James.
00:03:42Limited tickets do remain.
00:03:44So, grab yours now at Buccaneers.com.
00:03:48Rain has subsided here as Trask.
00:03:51Hitting two out of three for 46 yards in that opening drive.
00:03:54And, back to receive as McLaughlin will kick off is Jaquan Jackson and James Brochet for the Titans.
00:04:04It's Brochet.
00:04:06Touch back and gets short of the 30-yard line.
00:04:10Let's take a look at our Weathertight Windows players to watch for Windows and Doors done right.
00:04:17Call Weathertight Windows for Weathertight Mike.
00:04:20I believe Jacob Parrish is going to be a very good player for this team.
00:04:24He came in and grabbed his role right away.
00:04:26Keep an eye on him.
00:04:27Chris Braswell, second year.
00:04:28Make no mistake, this is a crucial preseason for him.
00:04:31Especially with the fact that David Walker, the rookie, who they had high expectations for, is out with an injury.
00:04:36And, we're going to see Eliza Roberts, the fifth-round draft pick, a little bit later.
00:04:40He's a very interesting prospect for this Bucs defense.
00:04:44Calvin Ridley in motion.
00:04:45Tony Pollard, the former Cowboy, straight ahead from the 29 of Tennessee.
00:04:51Gets a good chunk of yardage up around the 34-yard line.
00:04:54And, Cam Ward leads the Titans.
00:04:57Last time they had the first overall draft pick.
00:05:00They were a different franchise.
00:05:01The Houston Oilers and Earl Campbell, the great running back.
00:05:04Yeah, he is very, very good, Chris.
00:05:05I saw him at practice.
00:05:07As poised as he looked in college, he looks just as poised sitting back here at quarterback in the NFL.
00:05:13He's got a great arm.
00:05:14He's got great leadership skills.
00:05:16And, you know, all reports that we get from the Titans people next door, he is the real deal.
00:05:20Extra pressure is picked up.
00:05:22And incomplete right at the first down marker.
00:05:25It will bring up a third down as Jacob Parrish, someone you've been keeping an eye on,
00:05:30a rookie for Kansas State, third rounder, on the spot.
00:05:33Jacob Parrish does not look like every other Bucs corner.
00:05:36He is 5'10", where Jamel Dean and Zion McCollum are all over 6'1", but he has been so good so far in camp.
00:05:44He sees that nickel job right away.
00:05:47I expect really, really good things from this kid.
00:05:50We'll talk about him a little bit later as this game goes on.
00:05:53Only 21.
00:05:54I know you think he'll be a starter, at least play a whole lot for this Buccaneer defense,
00:05:58no matter who's healthy in that loaded secondary.
00:06:01On third down, Ward.
00:06:03Miami Hurricanes can't find anybody.
00:06:08Clubs one, and you're complete.
00:06:10It'll be fourth down, and Anthony Nelson, who is putting the pressure on from that linebacker spot.
00:06:19Great first series for Todd Bowles' defense here.
00:06:21You've got to pass defense, you've got to stop on first down for good yardage.
00:06:25And then you get your rookie quarterback, Cam Ward, holding on to the football.
00:06:29He has to throw it away, but there's a lot of improvements that this defense can make.
00:06:33Yes, they went out and drafted a bunch of guys in the secondary because they need more takeaways.
00:06:37They need more pressure as well, and I think we're going to see a lot of this in the preseason.
00:06:41Todd trying to figure out ways to get that going.
00:06:44Bucca is back to receive the bunt.
00:06:46Boy, they're going to work it out in a hurry here.
00:06:47Nice high kick.
00:06:49The veteran Johnny Hecker works it out of bounds right at the 20-yard line.
00:06:54Yeah, the Bucs defense, it's an area Todd Bowles, sensitive, wants that to improve,
00:06:58to go with this high-powered offense.
00:07:00We'll get a look at that Bucs offense in just a moment, holding a 3-0 lead.
00:07:09After a 46-yard punt from their own 20, Bucs with the ball and a 3-0 lead.
00:07:13Let's take a look now at the Weathertight Windows players to watch for windows and doors done right.
00:07:17Call Weathertight Windows for Weathertight Mike.
00:07:20We'll look at some of the offensive guys running.
00:07:22Yeah, make a mistake, Kyle Trask feels like his job is under threat, so he needs some big game.
00:07:26Emeka Obuk, we've already talked about him, but he's a wow player.
00:07:29Chris, when you talk to this kid, you think he's 30 years old.
00:07:32He's been in the league forever.
00:07:32He hasn't.
00:07:33And most importantly here, Charlie Heck, the left tackle with Tristan Wirtz being out.
00:07:38He's going to have to show us something.
00:07:39And don't worry, we did not forget our cookies.
00:07:41I know.
00:07:41You eat these in-between plays.
00:07:43I don't know how you get it.
00:07:44I eat them.
00:07:46Think a bite.
00:07:46Think a bite.
00:07:47We did not forget the cookie.
00:07:49All right.
00:07:50I took the bite.
00:07:51Are you happy?
00:07:51Hey, look at this.
00:07:54Rashad White will pick up four, maybe a little more.
00:07:58Josh Grisard, the 35-year-old offensive coordinator.
00:08:01Boy, this position has been an elevator, I'm talking with my mouth full, to a head coaching job.
00:08:07And it's interesting, too, because he has degrees for both Yale and Duke, so he's a little bit of a brainiac.
00:08:13What about for football?
00:08:14Well, I'll tell you what.
00:08:15He's from Lizard Lick, North Carolina.
00:08:17If you don't know where that is, neither do I.
00:08:18But the guy has been elevated, that's the exact right word.
00:08:22He wanted to be in this position.
00:08:24He's only 35 years old, and he made probably his biggest jump in those last couple of years in Miami
00:08:30when he was under Mike McDaniels, learning how to run an offense.
00:08:34And he took it with him here, some of the concepts.
00:08:36And Trask is taking it with himself to get the first down across the 30.
00:08:42Grisard was in the passing game.
00:08:45Let's see if they're going to.
00:08:45Yeah, it's good enough for a first down.
00:08:46And I was the passing coordinator here and involved in that back in Miami.
00:08:52And, you know, he's going to call plays for the first time.
00:08:54I mean, he's been going through the reps at practice, but he's on the sideline for the first couple of preseason games.
00:08:59Then he's going to go up to the booth, and then he'll determine the regular season how that works.
00:09:03Right.
00:09:03I think he'll probably find that he'll like being down on the field, being able to interact with his quarterback
00:09:07and certainly his receivers.
00:09:09And, look, look, the guy's got a great analytical mind, I think.
00:09:14Here's White.
00:09:15Makes the turn.
00:09:16And Rashad White.
00:09:19Should be good enough for the first down.
00:09:21Boy, Grisard dialing up the nice running game, and it is a first down.
00:09:24Right.
00:09:24Well, look, last year he spent time on Liam's staff analyzing tendencies for across the league,
00:09:31whether it's the shift in motions.
00:09:33He was a big part in helping this offense get into that gap running scheme that was so successful last year.
00:09:39But he also had some say on third down play.
00:09:42So it's not as if he's not familiar with this offense.
00:09:44And most of this offense is similar to what it was last year.
00:09:48And here's White again.
00:09:49Well, this offense, and he's part of it, and now he's running it.
00:09:53I mean, last year the Bucs rushed for 5.3 yards to carry.
00:09:56That was a team record that broke the 4.8 record back in 2015.
00:10:00It was third in the NFL.
00:10:02So that combination, and obviously the threat of the passing game with Baker and the receivers that they have,
00:10:07I mean, this is a chance for him.
00:10:08He's got the tools to kind of show off on offense however he calls.
00:10:12We hope that White is okay.
00:10:14Wow, he goes to the bench and lies down in pain.
00:10:17We'll check the back end of that play.
00:10:19I didn't hear that it was anything serious, but that didn't look comfortable.
00:10:24Sean Tucker.
00:10:27And Tucker, running game working here across the midfield.
00:10:30Sean Tucker is a very capable number three back.
00:10:33In fact, if you ask me, Sean Tucker is good enough to be a starter in this league at some level.
00:10:38He's had a couple of years of getting more and more opportunities,
00:10:42and every time he's in the game, Chris, he showcases some of his talent.
00:10:45He's a sprinter.
00:10:47He's the fastest running back on the roster, and I expect to get a big dose of him tonight,
00:10:52especially without Sean Tucker.
00:10:54Bucky will not play.
00:10:55There's some other guys down this depth chart that we'll get a look at later this afternoon.
00:11:00Picked up five, third down here.
00:11:02The Bucs were an excellent third down team last year, and this time in this game, stop short.
00:11:10We'll see if they want to go for it or not.
00:11:12In fact, the Bucs, over 50%, third down conversion percentage.
00:11:19That was a team record, too, last year.
00:11:20Let's see if this might.
00:11:21We might get a virtual, and we don't need a virtual.
00:11:24They're giving them the first down, meaning a virtual measurement.
00:11:27We're excited to have that this year with almost like a Hawkeye-looking camera view.
00:11:31Down a distance brought to you by AdventHealth, the exclusive hospital of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
00:11:41So spotted at the 48 of the Tennessee Titans.
00:11:45The last seven games of last year, as Trask sets up the throw again, got some time.
00:11:55Can't find anybody, it is going to be sacked.
00:11:5843-yard line, he had a moment.
00:12:02Ward brought him down.
00:12:05The former Viking and Raider.
00:12:07Play-action pass, you just need to get this ball out a little bit quicker if you're Kyle Trask.
00:12:11Obviously, you've got a bunch of backups in there, and there's a ton of movement on this offensive line
00:12:16in terms of guys playing a bunch of different positions.
00:12:19Obviously, if you talk about the Bucs' offensive line,
00:12:21they've got one of the best starting groups in football right now.
00:12:26Even without Tristan Wurfsson, the other four have been really, really good players.
00:12:30Important games for all those guys up front trying to find some backup jobs.
00:12:34Charlie Hecht stepped in for Tristan Wurfs tonight,
00:12:36and will be, at least when the regular season opens, it's Jacob Harris.
00:12:41Short of the 50, former Ram at 49er.
00:12:45Get some of that yardage back.
00:12:47I did want to mention, the last seven games of last year,
00:12:50the Bucs were second in the NFL in scoring points per game
00:12:54behind Baltimore in both categories in terms of putting up points and playing defense.
00:12:58Todd Bowles wants his defense.
00:13:00The stats, you know, they were, what, third or fourth ranked offense,
00:13:03depending upon what category.
00:13:05Defensively, the stats, not very impressive, at least against the pass, right?
00:13:08They're pretty good against the run, as they always are.
00:13:11On a third down 12.
00:13:16Trask, as it takes, throws.
00:13:19And the catch played a tough catch just inside the 40 by Ryan Miller.
00:13:24Ryan Miller played last year, second year from Furman.
00:13:30Ryan Miller had some important games last year.
00:13:35They're going to go on fourth here.
00:13:37Of course they're going to go on fourth.
00:13:38It's a nice play here, though.
00:13:40Yeah, great play.
00:13:40Stay in the pocket.
00:13:41Find the guy.
00:13:42Contested catch.
00:13:43And Ryan Miller, he proved that he could do that last year.
00:13:45Now, there is a lot of guys in this wide receiver room.
00:13:49How it shakes out, I'm not sure,
00:13:50but there's going to be a lot of competition in these preseason games
00:13:53for that fifth and sixth receiver spot.
00:13:56Titans will call a timeout on defense.
00:13:58I see what you're saying about, too,
00:13:59for Trask to make that decision a little quicker there, right,
00:14:02regardless of what it is.
00:14:03And he got that out on time to Miller.
00:14:06And a fourth down for Tampa Bay.
00:14:10Well, there's DIY day.
00:14:12Huh?
00:14:13They prepared this hurricane season with Max Defender 8 radar.
00:14:18It's the most accurate weather radar in Florida.
00:14:21You see those stormy skies, but so far,
00:14:23after rain earlier, we're okay.
00:14:25Let's check in for an injury update with Eileen.
00:14:28Yeah, guys, I saw Rashad White kind of limp off the field.
00:14:31He did go into the medical tent.
00:14:33He will not return tonight with that groin injury.
00:14:35As you can see, he is being wrapped by a trainer.
00:14:40Again, he did come off the field,
00:14:41did injure that groin, and he will not return tonight, guys.
00:14:47Six carry, 28 yards.
00:14:48It's a reason the starters aren't used as much in the preseason.
00:14:53Sean Tucker.
00:14:54Well, it's Trask keeping on fourth down and getting the first down.
00:14:58I don't think...
00:15:01Here are notable injuries, Chris.
00:15:09Obviously, we know Kristen Wurst with his knee injury.
00:15:12Chris Godwin still has not returned from the ankle.
00:15:14Anthony Walker is a big addition in linebacker, depth guy, plays in special teams,
00:15:18but he'll be valuable to them.
00:15:19Michael Pratt was a quarterback that they brought in that they wanted to compete with Kyle Trask,
00:15:23but he hasn't practiced at all during training camp.
00:15:25And, of course, Desmond Watson is physically unable to perform less for a couple of reasons.
00:15:33Losing some weight and trying to get into better shape.
00:15:36Tucker on that catch made.
00:15:38And, Wurst, what do you think?
00:15:39First month of the season, if all goes well?
00:15:42Well, obviously, that depends on Tristan and his timetable for return.
00:15:46And they'll be smart with it.
00:15:48You don't want that injury to be something that lingers with them the entire year.
00:15:52And there's Desmond Watson.
00:15:53Now, worth mentioning on Watson, just over 464 pounds.
00:15:57The rookie from Florida's side is a free agent.
00:16:00Imagine him on that defense with Vita Veda.
00:16:02But he's got to lose some weight and get into a little better condition.
00:16:05He's working on that.
00:16:07Flag down.
00:16:12Check the flag.
00:16:17Alan Eck and his crew.
00:16:19Odey, number 70 offense.
00:16:21Ten-yard penalty from the previous five.
00:16:23Replay, second down.
00:16:25I think he said number 70 was the call.
00:16:31That would be the playing left tackle.
00:16:34In the area we were just talking about, Wurst and Charlie Heck.
00:16:37Yeah, Ben Chukwuma, who is now in for Charlie Heck at left tackle.
00:16:41And this kid is a very interesting story.
00:16:44He is as raw as they come.
00:16:46But he is really athletic.
00:16:48Who knows where he fits in.
00:16:50He's a free agent that Jason and his staff found coming out of college.
00:16:55And he's been somewhat impressive.
00:16:56He's got a long way to go.
00:16:57But you could factor into that conversation at the same time.
00:17:00Ryan Miller with a good catch and carry.
00:17:04And we just across the 35, 36-yard line.
00:17:08You know, one of the things we never talk about, Chris, in preseason is the depth of the offensive line.
00:17:14And I'm just looking at who's out there right now.
00:17:16And Elijah Klein, number 79, he's been a guard in this offense for a long, long time.
00:17:22But he's played snaps at tackle in camp.
00:17:25Guard, obviously.
00:17:26And he's snapping right now as the first center in this football game.
00:17:30So keep an eye on him because he could be one of those guys that could play all three positions.
00:17:34It obviously helps on game days if you have somebody that personal.
00:17:37Owen Wright is in his running back.
00:17:39But picks up a nice block.
00:17:40And a low throw.
00:17:41But a nice throw.
00:17:42Good enough.
00:17:43For the first out catch from all hands, Ryan Miller.
00:17:46Like I said, Chris, this guy, all he does when you give him an opportunity is to come in and make great catches.
00:17:51Saw the contested catch earlier in the game.
00:17:53This is just a simple snap through a tight window and low.
00:17:55And he goes down and finds a way to snatch that off the ground.
00:17:59You know, a guy like this, if he can find a way to be the fifth or sixth receiver,
00:18:04we obviously know that his value is going to be on special teams.
00:18:07When you have a wide receiver room as deep as the one that the Bucs have.
00:18:10But he keeps doing, making plays like this.
00:18:12He will certainly be in this conversation.
00:18:15And we'll go through this entire list of receivers at some point.
00:18:18It is a ton.
00:18:19And it is his deepest position according to Todd Goldstein.
00:18:22Played at 11 games last year.
00:18:24Tucker tries to get outside, turns that corner, and gets the first out.
00:18:28Still going on.
00:18:29Sean Tucker down to the pylon.
00:18:31And just out of bounds.
00:18:34A real the goal line.
00:18:35What's not to love about Sean Tucker, Chris?
00:18:37I told you this guy has a little bit of everything.
00:18:40He can run in between the tackles.
00:18:42He's got the body size to do that.
00:18:44I mean, he doesn't look like Rashad White, but he's powerful.
00:18:46But what he has is the speed to get to this corner.
00:18:48And breaking tackles, running around blockers.
00:18:53I'm always impressed when this guy touches the football.
00:18:57He picked up 23 yards.
00:19:00And the running game here, even with some of the backup linemen, I realize backup defenders for the most part for Tennessee.
00:19:07But an impressive drive, powering a little further is Sean Tucker.
00:19:15It's a really good scheme.
00:19:16I will say that Liam Cohen last year devised a very different scheme than what we've seen in the Bucs over the past, like, five years.
00:19:24Where it was a lot of gap scheme, a lot of everybody, all the offensive line moving in one direction.
00:19:29Now it's more change of direction.
00:19:31You get these gaps and you allow your running backs, which obviously benefited Bucky Irving mightily last year, to get some running lanes.
00:19:39And it's been very, very productive so far today.
00:19:41There is Grisard with 25 seconds of counting in this opening quarter.
00:19:45Tucker's the back on a second down goal.
00:19:50And Tucker powering.
00:19:53Not going to get in.
00:19:54It's a defense that Jeffrey Simmons is not playing, but will when the regular season rolls around.
00:20:02Former Rams, Sebastian Joseph Day, one of the guys they are counting on up front.
00:20:07But that will be the end of the opening quarter.
00:20:13Bucs are threatening to get more.
00:20:15They lead the Titans by the score of 3-0.
00:20:18Now the Jabil scoreboard bringing products to life for the world's leading brand.
00:20:24It's 3-0.
00:20:32It's 3-0, start of the second quarter.
00:20:34On third and goal from the two, Sean Tucker, who got a ball, gets him, in for the touchdown.
00:20:51That's a Buccaneers score.
00:20:52I love that by Josh Grisard.
00:21:02Stick to the running game.
00:21:04Good teams, and we all know that this is the backups in here, but good teams have an intention in the red zone.
00:21:09Turn around and hand the ball off to your big back here, Sean Tucker, to finish that drive off.
00:21:14It was excellent play calling by Josh Grisard.
00:21:18Good block.
00:21:18You see Co'Keefe come around, block the line of scrimmage, and then really good push up through the middle behind Eliza Klein and those two guards inside there.
00:21:27Nice drive by Tampa.
00:21:28Sean Tucker, that 23-yard run, put him down there, and then he takes it in.
00:21:32And a fourth down, I'm sure they had to go for it, and kept that drive alive in the pocket, and hit the 45-yard field goal.
00:21:41We'll try for the extra points, and he nails it on the Jable scoreboard.
00:21:49It's a 10-0 Buccaneer advantage.
00:21:53The ground game churning so far tonight with Kyle Trask over center and Sean Tucker getting six.
00:22:02A 17-play drive, just under 11 minutes, and a 10-0 Buccaneer lead.
00:22:07The 76 jersey back for one season only, making its return to the field for the first time since 1976.
00:22:15The iconic look debuts at the home opener, so don't miss your chance to own a piece of history.
00:22:20Available now at the Bucs team store and online at shopbuccaneers.com.
00:22:26Let's check in for more on Sean Tucker with Eileen.
00:22:29Thanks, guys.
00:22:29Yeah, fun fact about Sean Tucker.
00:22:31He told me earlier this week he actually cuts his own hair.
00:22:35He's his own barber.
00:22:36And a lot of the teammates, a lot of his teammates have found this out, and they've been asking him,
00:22:42hey, man, can you cut my hair, too?
00:22:43Like, yours looks pretty good.
00:22:45And he says, no, I'm not comfortable with that just yet.
00:22:47I don't want to, you know, be responsible for a bad cut.
00:22:50But, Mr. Barber, I hear you have some similarities in this field.
00:22:55It's on your resume, right?
00:22:56It leads the resume?
00:22:57All right, just because it's on the back of my jersey doesn't mean that I am an actual barber.
00:23:02However, you're a barber.
00:23:03I actually did cut my hair in high school as well.
00:23:06And then it just...
00:23:09If you give me a discount, you can try mine.
00:23:11I am not touching your hair.
00:23:13Oh, okay.
00:23:13No chance.
00:23:14All right.
00:23:14I'm afraid to touch it.
00:23:15But how about Sean Tucker?
00:23:17The guy does so much well.
00:23:18Right.
00:23:18And the nickname RB3, and you talked about his speed.
00:23:22He's behind two guys who had outstanding seasons last year.
00:23:25Right.
00:23:25He's RB3 only because we have a very good RB1 and an RB2.
00:23:31He has 32 yards rushing at six carries tonight, including the touchdown.
00:23:35Remember, Rashad White left with a groin injury.
00:23:39And Bucky Irving is not playing, just resting here after the touchback out to the 35.
00:23:47So that ball reached the end zone.
00:23:49Cam Ward with great starting field position.
00:23:51And wide open at the middle of the field is Calvin Ridley, who gets down inside the 40 of Tampa Bay.
00:23:58Well, you've got a bunch of young guys on the field.
00:24:03This defense was completely out of whack before the start of that play.
00:24:06You'll see that Jacob Parrish was on the wrong side of the field.
00:24:10He could tell there were some guys not knowing where they wanted to be.
00:24:13And that's why this passing lane was wide open for Calvin Ridley.
00:24:17And this tightens offense.
00:24:18Calvin Ridley is going to be a scary player if Cam Ward ends up being the quarterback that we think he is.
00:24:24Calvin Ridley, in practice this week, was almost uncomfortable a couple of times.
00:24:29Yeah, fresh attitude for first-rounder from Alabama, Falcons and then Jags.
00:24:33And there's a flip out to Tyler Lockett.
00:24:35These names familiar because a flag comes in late, the longtime Seattle Seahawks.
00:24:40Yeah, they made some additions, some good additions into their wide receiver room.
00:24:44Tyler Lockett, of course, we all know him watching him out in Seattle.
00:24:46But they also brought in Van Jefferson to be the third receiver on that roster.
00:24:52Passing interference, number zero defense.
00:24:55Scrugey offense, 10-yard penalty, replay, first down.
00:24:59And then they also brought in Deke, who they drafted.
00:25:03Or Gator.
00:25:04Yeah, former Gator.
00:25:05And a couple of other players that have been really showcasing in this Brian Callahan offense.
00:25:11And they have Xavier Restrepo from Miami, who was a teammate of Cam Ward's, as Callahan.
00:25:17Again, his father, Bill Callahan, coaching on the offensive line for so many years, controlled such a great ground game.
00:25:23Had that Raider team took over when John Gruden, Bill Callahan, his father, lost to the Bucs when they go to the Super Bowl.
00:25:30Four, three, four, four.
00:25:34Ward fires.
00:25:36And over.
00:25:38And completed to Ridley.
00:25:40Just over Parish.
00:25:41It looked like he was back there in position, but floated nicely by the first overall pick, Ward.
00:25:49Plays like this are just experienced base.
00:25:52He's a flat defender.
00:25:53And I tell you, when you're playing that nickel position, you're a flat defender.
00:25:56You almost always got to play it deep to short.
00:25:58And because he was at the line of scrimmage, we also tell ourselves, don't let your disguise, he was obviously a disguise there at the line of scrimmage,
00:26:05get in the way of you making a play.
00:26:06And he was just a step late to that pass to Calvin Ridley.
00:26:12On second down, Ward.
00:26:15And the catch made by Ridley.
00:26:18And good enough for a first down.
00:26:20You can see the comfort level with this rookie quarterback and Calvin Ridley.
00:26:25I think every pass on this drive has gone to number zero, and he's getting the favorable matchup.
00:26:30He's working on a rookie there, Jacob Parish, running a cross route from the other side of the field.
00:26:34He's not able to keep up with him.
00:26:36Five seasons in college.
00:26:38He has the Division I record.
00:26:39156 touchdown passes for Cam Ward.
00:26:42And over 18,000 yards.
00:26:44And over 18,000 yards.
00:26:53And over 18,000 yards.
00:26:56Fresh set it down from the 25 of Tampa Bay.
00:26:58Pollard will go nowhere.
00:27:01We'll get Braswell, who is called one of the toughest guys on that defense by Todd Bowles.
00:27:08Meanwhile, the Titans coming off the three-win season.
00:27:11That's how they got the top pick.
00:27:13And I talked about their head coach who came over from Cincinnati, where he called the offense with Joe Burrow.
00:27:19Right.
00:27:19And they were not very good last year.
00:27:21Clearly in rebuilding mode.
00:27:22And they're still somewhat in that space now.
00:27:26You know, Callahan's got his work cut out for him, especially starting a working quarterback.
00:27:30And that's the importance of these preseason games.
00:27:32You got a first pick of the overall, the number one pick in the draft overall.
00:27:36You put a lot of pressure and expectations on his shoulder.
00:27:39And he's got to get some reps against some big boys here.
00:27:43Play clock down to one just in time.
00:27:46And the pass.
00:27:47Oh!
00:27:47Almost intercepted by Josh Hayes.
00:27:53I saw you jump up and down like you were going for it.
00:27:56I almost jumped out.
00:27:57This is cover two, right?
00:27:58Rebrouting the flat.
00:27:59And then great job by Josh Hayes.
00:28:01Once you get that initial contact forcing that receiver release outside, you've got to drop your hip and chase underneath it.
00:28:08Those are the fun interceptions.
00:28:10The ones where the quarterback has no business throwing it.
00:28:13And he almost took one away from the rookie quarterback.
00:28:16Josh Hayes, a former Kansas Stater.
00:28:19It's a crowded defensive back room.
00:28:20The crowd getting into this on third down nine.
00:28:24See if they bring a little extra heat on board.
00:28:27And he goes, just looks like that's likely enough inside the 15.
00:28:33Jig O'Kwanko.
00:28:39Right in from Maryland.
00:28:40And that's good enough for the first down.
00:28:42Well, this is an example, Chris, of the Bucs being pretty basic, right?
00:28:46They're just playing zone coverage.
00:28:47Four-man rush.
00:28:48You know in the regular season that Todd Bowles is not sending a four-man rush on third and eight.
00:28:53He's going to bring as much pressure as he can.
00:28:55And when you get these young players playing in the secondary here, those underneath defensive positions,
00:29:01those are the hardest ones to teach to learn how to cover up the zone.
00:29:04And Cam Ward makes a nice throw there to get the first down.
00:29:07Elijah Cantsey led the team at Saks last year at seven and a half.
00:29:11As Sears carries it.
00:29:13And that's an area.
00:29:15Hassan Redick, the veteran, was signed to help improve.
00:29:18Obviously not playing tonight.
00:29:19Right.
00:29:20We haven't talked about Hassan Redick, but I think he'll greatly improve that pass rush from the edge.
00:29:25And Chris Braswell is one of our players to watch, number 43 there.
00:29:28And there's a reason.
00:29:29He's got an opportunity now to get in the rotation as one of those edge guys.
00:29:34We know we have Yaya Diaby who will mostly probably play on the left side
00:29:37because Hassan Redick prefers to be on the left side of the defense.
00:29:41And so I expect some big things from Chris Braswell this season.
00:29:44We need to.
00:29:45Collision there in the backfield as Ajay Spears over Tulane.
00:29:50Star carries an Adam Gatsas.
00:29:52Ten-year veteran coming over from the 49ers.
00:29:56A new buck.
00:29:56In on the tackle.
00:29:58It'll bring down a third down and six from the ten-yard line.
00:30:08Good look at Mike Green wearing number 91.
00:30:11Following Deion Jones there in the middle of the middle linebacker.
00:30:13Interesting, Chris.
00:30:15Sabasier-Dennis, who is the presumptive starting inside linebacker,
00:30:18who's playing with this group.
00:30:19And he's had a bunch of injuries over the first couple of years.
00:30:23I think they're going to get a look and make sure that he is as good as they think he's going to be.
00:30:28Yeah.
00:30:29First one and perfectly timed to lock it.
00:30:32And a first out and goal to go for the Titans.
00:30:36Ward five out of eight so far in his NFL debut.
00:30:45This little opposite high-low is just a crossing route.
00:30:47And once he gets to the other side of the ball,
00:30:52Jacob Parrish, who was covering man-to-man from the other side of the field again,
00:30:55is beat on a little crossing route.
00:30:56And trust me, I know I'm talking a lot about Jacob Parrish.
00:31:00He's getting a lot going out of him right now.
00:31:02It's different when you're playing in practice.
00:31:04When you get out in a real football game,
00:31:05you've got to go out and make these plays,
00:31:07and they've certainly targeted him.
00:31:10Tony Pollard waits for the clock.
00:31:13Pushes down to inside the one-yard line.
00:31:16And Dennis, third year from Pitt.
00:31:20They need a little more out of him.
00:31:22Well, yeah, they've rotated that position a lot next to Levante David.
00:31:28There's at least three or four guys that played last year.
00:31:31It's why they brought in Anthony Walker Jr.
00:31:36to add some depth to that position.
00:31:37I think later in the game, we're going to see some young guys,
00:31:40John Bullock and Nick Jackson,
00:31:42who Todd Bowles has talked a lot about.
00:31:44But it's interesting that Savasie Dennis is getting these snaps here
00:31:46in the second quarter because of the starter.
00:31:48Pollard.
00:31:49Oh, grab by Isian, and he's in for the touchdown.
00:31:55Christian Isian had him by the ankles, it looked like,
00:31:58but enough for Pollard to cross the goal line
00:32:03and give Tennessee the touchdown.
00:32:04This is almost a great play by 29, Christian Isian right here.
00:32:08He gets him on the ground there.
00:32:09It's a great stop, but not enough bump, I guess, if you will,
00:32:13to get him on the ground before Tony Pollard gets into the end zone.
00:32:16Interesting looking at Tennessee's offense last year, Chris.
00:32:18It was Calvin Ridley and Pollard.
00:32:23Everybody else was about as average as you can possibly be on offense.
00:32:26Those two guys had 1,000 yards each, one receiving, one running the football.
00:32:30And so you know where the strength of this offense is going to be,
00:32:33those two players.
00:32:34Joey Sly, the extra point for Tennessee.
00:32:37The offense wasn't all that bad statistically ranking 12 in yards gain.
00:32:47They come back a bit.
00:32:48They trail by three in Tampa Bay.
00:32:50Number one draft pick overall from this organization.
00:32:56The man that set the tone for what this organization has been all about for so many years.
00:33:01It's great defense.
00:33:03Our first Hall of Famer.
00:33:05Our first Ring of Honor recipient.
00:33:07What a stud.
00:33:09And the 50 greatest players.
00:33:11There's a lot of discussion about that.
00:33:12Getting in the top 10, top 5.
00:33:18Whether it's DIY day.
00:33:19Huh?
00:33:23Yard day.
00:33:27Game day.
00:33:28Yeah, it's game day.
00:33:35Birthday.
00:33:37Advent Health keeps you ready for every day.
00:33:40And for everything that makes you feel whole.
00:33:44Exclusive hospital of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
00:33:49Yeah, you know, growing up in Florida, I mean, he, you talk about uniforms, whatever the record was.
00:33:54Selman, the defense.
00:33:55You knew that you were going to see that.
00:33:57Whatever game, whatever opponent they were playing, that's continued through the years.
00:34:01Among the great players.
00:34:02Great memories.
00:34:0350-year anniversary.
00:34:0450th season.
00:34:05Your Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
00:34:08From the 35, Owen Wright gets a carry.
00:34:14Owen Wright, the second-year running back from Monmouth.
00:34:18Former Baltimore Raven.
00:34:19Added when Josh Williams, the rookie free agent from LSU, was lighting it up a little bit in camp,
00:34:26but then had a little bit of an injury, and he's not active tonight.
00:34:28Yeah, Josh Williams.
00:34:29I think a lot of guys in the front office were looking to get a look at Josh Williams,
00:34:34and unfortunately, he's not going to play tonight.
00:34:36But you got Owen Williams.
00:34:37He's primarily been a, you know, kind of a special teams type of player.
00:34:40But he has some running ability now.
00:34:42He's given an opportunity.
00:34:44This guy is really quick and shifty.
00:34:46Let's see if he'll get his opportunity here tonight to showcase some of his skill.
00:34:50Trask has to get rid of it.
00:34:52And that catches pain.
00:34:53That's Ryan Miller again.
00:34:55Having a big night.
00:34:56What a hard one.
00:34:57Kyle Trask is under some serious distress.
00:35:00Throwing a fadeaway here.
00:35:02And being able to keep his eyes downfield and find this connection was really, really impressive.
00:35:08Ryan Miller, yeah, we can keep talking about him, but look at this throw.
00:35:11Two guys in his face.
00:35:13Let's it deliver right on target to 81.
00:35:17Another big game for Kyle Trask and Miller.
00:35:20Fourth catch of the game for Miller to the 41 of Tennessee.
00:35:24Eight out of nine is Kyle Trask so far.
00:35:27Well, look at that.
00:35:28The latest completion.
00:35:29He gets away.
00:35:31And Trask has had the ball on him.
00:35:35What a horrible mess.
00:35:36Well, there's Bucs offense.
00:35:40Jalen Harrell got back there just as Trask was on the football.
00:35:47Like I talked about Elijah Klein, he's been a guard.
00:35:51Like, he's just getting an opportunity to play center because of, you know,
00:35:55trying to find the rotation on that offensive line.
00:35:57I mean, there's other, you know, we signed Jake Majors as a draft of free agent
00:36:02coming out of school this year, but it's interesting that Elijah Klein's getting the first shot
00:36:08to be center here tonight.
00:36:10After a loss at 18, they give it to Owen Wright.
00:36:13Well, Ben Bredesen, right, who's the left guard, he, they tried him a little.
00:36:16I know Todd Bowles is talking about just having some people that in a game,
00:36:19if they needed to slide over to that center spot.
00:36:21But, you know, when the season starts, you're going to have Graham Barton with a terrific draft
00:36:25that he was a year ago from Duke and Genicke and Malk,
00:36:28and then hopefully when Werffs is healthy, four or five games.
00:36:31Well, all these guys, Klein, you see Ben Scott there, he's also a rookie.
00:36:35They're all cross-training, if you will.
00:36:37A lot of them are playing guard and center.
00:36:39A lot of them are playing guard and tackle.
00:36:40Just trying to find the right combination of guys that can make this depth chart look better
00:36:45for this Bucs offensive line when the season starts.
00:36:50They'll dump it off, that's right.
00:36:54They'll go anywhere on third and 25.
00:36:59So we'll see if the Bucs finder Riley Dixon come out, a veteran from Syracuse.
00:37:05Originally a Bronco, teams in between.
00:37:08Back with Denver last year.
00:37:11Well, they had a lot of problems at punter last year, Chris.
00:37:14I think they went through four or five punters last year,
00:37:18starting with Jake Camarda and on down the line.
00:37:21And Riley Dixon's got a pretty impressive career over the course of, I think, his tenth year, right?
00:37:27This is in the league.
00:37:28And hopefully to solidify this position.
00:37:32Big leg.
00:37:33I know that.
00:37:34And drops it into the end zone.
00:37:36A reliable veteran who also has had a pretty good completion percentage on fake punts,
00:37:43throwing the football, but I know he wanted to drop it inside the five instead of the touchback.
00:37:484.30 a.m. on News Channel 8.
00:37:50Hey, time for tonight's trivia.
00:37:51You know, the 50-year anniversary.
00:37:52Our question is brought to you by Lexus Experience Amazing.
00:37:56And we're going to work our way up with this.
00:37:58Who were the four quarterbacks, the only four to start an NFC Championship game for the Tampa Bay Bucs?
00:38:04A couple of them are real easy.
00:38:05Yep, a couple of them are easy.
00:38:06Yeah, but then there's, you know, the real Bucs fans will get that fourth one.
00:38:09We'll give you the answer if you stay with us throughout the broadcast.
00:38:12We're going to have more trivia questions throughout the preseason and this 50-year celebration of the franchise.
00:38:18Brandon Allen is now in at quarterback.
00:38:21And Spears carries a big defensive play for Tampa Bay.
00:38:26Josh Hayes almost had an interception coming up to make the play.
00:38:29Yeah, he comes and slices right through this defense.
00:38:31In-man a lot of scrimmage.
00:38:32Just blitzing.
00:38:33It's a little corner blitz.
00:38:34He finds his way inside the tackle and made my name doing a lot of that.
00:38:39A bunch of tackles for balls in my career making plays like that.
00:38:43A lot of years helped you on your way to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
00:38:46We saw you up there quite a bit since you were in front.
00:38:49Yeah, helping out other people, introducing people, and a goodwill ambassador for the league of the Bucs.
00:38:55After a loss of five, Allen.
00:38:59And they were in the last moment.
00:39:01Jacob Parrish.
00:39:02In 2023, at Kansas State, he had his best year with four interceptions.
00:39:17Former running back and receiver.
00:39:20He was in high school.
00:39:22He's a good player.
00:39:23He's obviously playing outside corner right now.
00:39:25And that's one of the things that Todd Bowles was most impressed about.
00:39:29Jacob Parrish.
00:39:29Yes, they have been slotted time to play that nipple position.
00:39:32But he would also be an option outside.
00:39:34Just made a great drive on an out-breaking route there to get that pass break out.
00:39:38Quickly, it's third and 15.
00:39:42And that's it off to Spears.
00:39:44Slips through.
00:39:46And just short.
00:39:48As you can see, the line for the first down.
00:39:50Rashad Wisdom hit the tackle.
00:39:56Fourth down, under four minutes to go.
00:40:00We talk a lot about tackling, right?
00:40:02Tackling has more to do with angles than anything else.
00:40:04And watch the number of Bucs, guys, that kind of allow that lane to open by getting out of the right tackling angle.
00:40:12Is there a flag?
00:40:12Yeah, they're marching them back.
00:40:14And it looks like, let's see what the call is.
00:40:17Game block.
00:40:19They're going to reset the game block.
00:40:21What about you?
00:40:23Well, I have no idea what happened there.
00:40:25But the reality is Todd Bowles talks about tackling.
00:40:28And it's always about angles.
00:40:30Anybody can put their body on somebody and get them to the ground.
00:40:33But angles become a problem.
00:40:35And it was a problem for this Bucs defense.
00:40:36It's something that they've been grinding on all preseason and offseason
00:40:40to make sure those type of plays don't happen to this Bucs defense in 2025.
00:40:45It was an illegal man downfield with the ball.
00:40:48Came against Tennessee.
00:40:50So that's why it marked off.
00:40:53Well, is it?
00:40:54Is it?
00:40:55Are they reviewing?
00:40:56Are they checking?
00:40:56You know, this is something I believe that once the replay assist is saying maybe wasn't illegally downfield.
00:41:08And so replay assist this year has then expanded to a number of other things that can help an officiating group.
00:41:14The idea is to get it right.
00:41:16If we had more time, we'd probably show you.
00:41:18But it's probably not worth it.
00:41:19The bottom line is it's fourth down.
00:41:22And now on X says, let's go ahead and move this along.
00:41:24Eric Green, the former quarterback, the receiver now from West Virginia, back to receive the punt.
00:41:31And the flag comes in.
00:41:44Well, interesting you say replay assist because that flag came in where it's going to be a face mask.
00:41:50Replay assist can only, Chris, affect plays that have been called on the field.
00:41:55So if this isn't a face mask, then I don't know because I haven't seen it.
00:41:58Let's see.
00:41:58Now that's going to be a face mask, I think.
00:42:00But we'll see what replay assist says.
00:42:02So personal foul.
00:42:05Face mask number 57 of the kicking team.
00:42:0815-yard penalty at the end of the return.
00:42:10First down, Tampa Bay.
00:42:12Time out.
00:42:13On the return, the penalty will add 15 bucks on offense in a moment.
00:42:23The ball.
00:42:24Hey, Howard.
00:42:24Thanks for coming out.
00:42:25And now in Tennessee territory after that great return by Green and the penalty.
00:42:30The only thing I don't like about that picture is she's got a blue tongue.
00:42:32She's wearing bucks.
00:42:32She's got a blue tongue.
00:42:34Hey, Teddy Bridgewater showing up at the Bucs.
00:42:36Yeah, they signed him.
00:42:37It was a bit of a surprise with the Michael Pratt injury
00:42:40and giving Baker Mayfield some rest.
00:42:42The 11-year veteran originally from Miami.
00:42:45And not quite ready to play, but there he is in a uniform.
00:42:48We may see him this preseason.
00:42:49Yeah, I think we'll see him this preseason.
00:42:51Todd told us and he jokes.
00:42:52He's like, we're not going to put him out there sight unseen.
00:42:54I mean, we don't know if he's ready to get deep into our program yet.
00:42:58So I'm pretty sure we'll see him at some point in the next two games.
00:43:01And battling Trask, who has looked good tonight in that backup role behind Baker Mayfield.
00:43:06But the replay assist after that return by Green,
00:43:09they did help out in terms of setting where the yardage was and getting the play right.
00:43:14Right.
00:43:14You guys didn't see it because we were in the commercial break.
00:43:16But they left the flag and the ball spotted at the down spot.
00:43:20And then a couple of minutes right before we came back on air,
00:43:22they moved it to 15 yards.
00:43:24So replay assist did confirm that it was, in fact, a face mask.
00:43:27And I like that the NFL, look, if we're all seeing it,
00:43:29they're trying to get it right using technology.
00:43:31Walt Anderson back there in the command center with help.
00:43:34And we have cameras now in stadiums that are in permanent locations.
00:43:38Trask firing and across the middle, that's who else, Ryan Miller.
00:43:42And Malouche, this is just a quick update.
00:43:44He's short of the first down.
00:43:45We know about the kickoff of the 35 in the end zone.
00:43:48Obviously, over time, each team will get a possession there.
00:43:52That's a big one right there.
00:43:53Yeah.
00:43:54And you could have one team take a 10-minute drive,
00:43:57and that would end the game if that were to happen.
00:43:58Onside kicks any time, but the kicking team has to be trailing.
00:44:02And the Hawkeye technology to help, that's the virtual spotting or measurement,
00:44:07I should say.
00:44:07The official still spots the ball.
00:44:09And the cameras are set up in the boundary position as light carries.
00:44:14Throughout all stadiums, there's a dozen cameras, 4K cameras to help.
00:44:18And even if it's not on the TV broadcast, it'll be in the command center.
00:44:22They'll show it in the stadium, and then they'll make sure we get it on television
00:44:25so they get the spot right and on those big calls on the boundaries, goal lines, et cetera.
00:44:30Absolutely.
00:44:30I have nothing to add to that.
00:44:31What's that?
00:44:32Okay.
00:44:33All right.
00:44:33What we have here is a fourth and a yard.
00:44:36Remember their touchdown drive.
00:44:39This is a two-minute warning.
00:44:41They did go on fourth to continue that drive and eventually punched it in
00:44:45as Trask has played very good.
00:44:48Oh, they're going.
00:44:51For the best Bucs coverage all season long, stay with News Channel 8,
00:44:54your official Bucs station.
00:44:57Well, on a fourth and short, if they were going to kick a field goal,
00:45:00it would be a 57 or 58-yarder.
00:45:02And I bring that up, Rondae, because Cam Little of the Jacksonville Jags
00:45:06kicked a 70-yard field goal tonight that is going viral.
00:45:11That's pretty awesome.
00:45:12That is.
00:45:12I mean, the kickers today from the distance, and now with the 35,
00:45:16if there's a touchback, you're going to see more of that.
00:45:1970 yards.
00:45:21In this case, they want the first.
00:45:23They will get it on a penalty if the call is against Tennessee.
00:45:28And Ward shaking his head.
00:45:34Looks like he might have been the guilty party here.
00:45:38Neutral zone infraction.
00:45:39Number 73 defense.
00:45:41The five-yard penalty was also the first down.
00:45:43It was on Josiah Bronson, not Ward.
00:45:46Good job, Haggard.
00:45:51Comes over, touches.
00:45:53And a great hard count by Kyle Trask to get those five yards.
00:45:57I would have liked to have seen a 57-yard field goal.
00:45:59I mean, not that we need it.
00:46:00We know what Chase McLaughlin is as a kicker.
00:46:03He's one of the most storied ones in the Bucs' history now
00:46:06after the past couple of years.
00:46:08Yeah, and a 57-yarder, his career-long.
00:46:10Tied that pass in complete for the tight end, Devin Culp.
00:46:16By the way, that's the third penalty on the Titans.
00:46:18The Buccaneers, just one penalty.
00:46:20That was something during the practice and scrimmages through the week.
00:46:23I know Todd Bowles said, we want him working on that.
00:46:26We want flags out there.
00:46:27Well, if you're from an offensive perspective,
00:46:28you're Josh Grisard in his first-time call and plays.
00:46:31All you want is clean execution.
00:46:32You want the operation to be as basic as possible
00:46:36so you guys can go out and line up and play,
00:46:38and you can evaluate them.
00:46:39You don't want the penalties to be such a big hamper.
00:46:42And remember, the one real negative played with the bad snap
00:46:45by Elijah Klein.
00:46:48Sean Tucker, the first hand of the challenge.
00:46:51This is brought to you by AdventHealth,
00:46:53the exclusive hospital of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
00:46:57Third down, 149 to go before the half.
00:47:00And Tennessee uses their second timeout with Rondé Barber.
00:47:05Eileen Natchuk down on the sideline.
00:47:07You'll see her at halftime with highlights, stats, and updates.
00:47:10And she'll catch up with Coach Todd Bowles when we go to the half.
00:47:14I'm Chris Myers.
00:47:15Great to be with you again for the 50th season of Buccaneer football.
00:47:20Another preseason here calling games with WFLA, News Channel 8.
00:47:24And across the Buccaneers' preseason television radio network.
00:47:29On the radio network side, the great Gene Deckerhoff has called the Bucs for 37 years.
00:47:36Saw him before the game, as fired up as he says fire the candles.
00:47:39The best highlights of all time have been narrated by Gene Deckerhoff.
00:47:42What he called, I think, a Mike Allstott runs.
00:47:45I mean, just a lot of fun.
00:47:47And we appreciate your loyal support through the years.
00:47:50As you said, thick and thin.
00:47:52Trask with a quick toss.
00:47:55Green will have the first down.
00:47:57I think this is a great story, this kid Green.
00:48:01He's a quarterback at West Virginia.
00:48:03He was a dual-threat quarterback, obviously, throwing the football.
00:48:06But he was great with the ball in his hands as a runner, too.
00:48:09And he's made this transition to wide receiver pretty seamlessly now.
00:48:13I know that he's had some struggles probably getting onto the practice field
00:48:20with how deep the wide receiver room is.
00:48:22But a guy like this, making a position change,
00:48:24getting an opportunity to play in the preseason,
00:48:26and that is what these games are all about.
00:48:28Five catches tonight.
00:48:3063 yards.
00:48:32Tucker smothered by the Titans defense.
00:48:34And the ball, we heard the whistle.
00:48:36Titans are acting as if the ball came out.
00:48:40Official pointing that he's down, and they still have the football.
00:48:44If there was a review, it's out of two minutes.
00:48:47It'll be an official review.
00:48:48Calling his plays for the first time in the NFL.
00:48:53Boy, from Dave Canales to Liam Cohen,
00:48:55one-year calling plays with the Bucs of this offensive talent.
00:48:59And, boom, head coach.
00:49:01And that may be something down the road for Josh Grisard.
00:49:10Right.
00:49:12Inside the 20 of the clock.
00:49:15Third down.
00:49:16And timeout used again by the Buccaneers this time.
00:49:21Four drives so far tonight, Chris.
00:49:23Seven plays and a field goal.
00:49:2517 plays and a touchdown.
00:49:27And mentioned the one play where they had the bad snap.
00:49:29It's the only one they haven't really got down into the scoring area.
00:49:32But when you look at all that comprehensively,
00:49:34I would say this Kyle Trask-led offense has done a pretty good job tonight.
00:49:39He is 10 of 12, 116 yards.
00:49:44He's been very efficient with the football.
00:49:46But more importantly, and I think encouraging to Kevin Carvery,
00:49:49the offensive line coach, is that this run game has been excellent.
00:49:53And they've run for more than 80 yards.
00:49:56Rashad White did get the start.
00:49:58Rashad Tucker came in.
00:50:00Trask even ran a couple of times.
00:50:01And Tucker remains the back.
00:50:04There's the group up front.
00:50:07Pushing their way forward as Trask fires.
00:50:11Oh, near the 10, jumped back.
00:50:14Not expected of the second-year tight end.
00:50:17Maybe the big receiving target as Cade Otten is not playing tonight.
00:50:21Yeah, you're exactly right.
00:50:22Tight end is one of those positions.
00:50:24It's not very deep.
00:50:25I mean, Cade Otten had kind of a breakout year last year.
00:50:28He got most of his work, if you will, once those receivers went down.
00:50:32When Mike Evans was down, Chris Godwin was down.
00:50:34And he really kind of shined.
00:50:35Payne Durham is more of a do-everything type of tight end for this franchise.
00:50:40But the reality is, a guy like Devin Culp, who is more of a receiving type of player,
00:50:46could find a role on this team when you need him.
00:50:48Tanner Tula is also on this roster.
00:50:51But I think Devin Culp is the player that this offense is really looking to elevate himself
00:50:56in the preseason and bring himself some spots.
00:50:58He's going to open it up with all the receivers and those talented back.
00:51:02Coach Keith, great blocker, an 8-back, whatever.
00:51:05He's called the toughest player of this offense by his head coach.
00:51:09We're looking at Trask, focusing in.
00:51:12On first and goal, 23 seconds before the half.
00:51:16The pass outbound is Culp.
00:51:19Trask has completed the game in Culp.
00:51:24We're looking at the ground, Michael Gross.
00:51:26Here's his depth chart you just mentioned.
00:51:30Kate Otten, he had a little tweak in his hamstring, so he's not going to play.
00:51:33Hopefully, you get to see him next week.
00:51:35Payne Durham, who had two touchdowns last year.
00:51:37I mean, what really wasn't his role, but you can see it's pretty thin.
00:51:41You know, you got Coach Keith, who was primarily a blocker, and then there's Culp.
00:51:44And I don't know how many they plan to keep.
00:51:46Last year, they kept four.
00:51:47If they keep four again, I mean, that's the depth chart.
00:51:50So, keep an eye on 82.
00:51:52He's going to probably play a lot the rest of this football game.
00:51:55Trash.
00:51:56It's deflected and incomplete.
00:51:58It'll be third and goal.
00:52:00One timeout remaining for the Bucs.
00:52:04Tennessee also has won.
00:52:05And the Titans will receive the ball to start the second half.
00:52:14Considering that we didn't see the first unit offensive line, or we didn't see Mike Evans and
00:52:19Tez Johnson, the exciting speedster drafted with Rebecca Bucs, who does have that one catch.
00:52:28The offense has done well.
00:52:29This is probably Kyle Kratz's last play of the game on this in the first season.
00:52:33I'm just saying that.
00:52:34You sound like a Buccaneer fan watching those.
00:52:36I want to see a touchdown for the back.
00:52:38All right, Dryan, there's a flag.
00:52:40There's a five, and he's going for it, but it's not the way.
00:52:44Mike Brown on the coverage from Miami of Ohio, former Cleveland Brown.
00:52:53Looks like the Bucs will be penalized.
00:52:59Maybe that jinxed him, didn't you?
00:53:00Illegal shift.
00:53:01Offense.
00:53:02Two men were in motion and both did not get set.
00:53:04The penalty has declined.
00:53:06It's fourth down.
00:53:08So Chase McLaughlin will come out.
00:53:11He made from 45 in the opening drive of the game.
00:53:16Bucs touchdown.
00:53:17Cain from Sean Tucker.
00:53:20And unfortunate for Tampa Bay on this offense that they couldn't get more.
00:53:27That's what Josh Rezard going up.
00:53:29You know, he speaks softly, but it seemed like he was a little intense there with his quarterback.
00:53:34I think he's got some intensity, too.
00:53:37Todd Bowles has some pretty good clips on talking about Josh Rezard.
00:53:42Yale guy, but.
00:53:44There you go.
00:53:47The next, the field goal, excuse me, like almost an extra pointy is good.
00:53:52Not that I know what a Yale guy acts like.
00:53:54Just saying.
00:53:55You hang out with a few of those Ivy League types.
00:53:57I see you.
00:53:59And, hey, we want to say hello to all the Bucs fans joining us on News Channel 8.
00:54:03And our coverage of the Bucs is always in Tampa, Orlando, West Palm, Fort Myers, Panama City, Pensacola, Mobile,
00:54:11wherever you're watching and those that may catch us on the NFL Network,
00:54:14celebrating 50 years for a franchise that had been through a lot, I think.
00:54:20McLaughlin.
00:54:27McLaughlin.
00:54:29Jackson on the return.
00:54:33Jackson up across the 31-yard line.
00:54:35Second half, we'll hear from Bucky Irving, our headset interview.
00:54:45Always fun to talk to the dedicated rookie who had the night off.
00:54:49And we're going to see him and Baker and some of the regulars in Pittsburgh next Saturday night.
00:54:56The Todd Bowles and the Bucs take on Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers.
00:55:00You'll see that game here, of course.
00:55:01The Titans run out the clock, receive to start the second half.
00:55:14And we'll cover the trivia question and more on the celebration of this Buccaneer franchise.
00:55:22The last five years have been the most successful years in terms of wins.
00:55:25You had a Super Bowl win in there.
00:55:26By the way, the Bucs and the Ravens, the only teams in NFL history that have
00:55:302-0 records, perfect records in the Super Bowl.
00:55:33Let's go down to Eileen, who's with Coach Todd Bowles.
00:55:36All right, guys.
00:55:36Coach, you just saw your players for the first time in live game action,
00:55:40including offensive coordinator Josh Grzard.
00:55:42What stood out to you in that first half?
00:55:43I thought they did a good job, especially holding the clock in two minutes right there.
00:55:47Kyle made some good throws early and some timely throws to some receivers down the field,
00:55:51so that was good to see.
00:55:52What do you want to see more in the second half?
00:55:54Just consistency.
00:55:56Lack of penalties.
00:55:57I like to get more short yards played that we can push them off the ball a little better.
00:56:02Thanks, Coach.
00:56:02You got it.
00:56:03Guys, back to you.
00:56:04All right, Eileen, with Rodney Barber, Chris Myers, and you,
00:56:08just cranking it up.
00:56:11Preseason football from Raymond James Stadium.
00:56:14A little timeout update with highlights, updates,
00:56:18and we'll look forward to the second half to bring it to you from Tampa Bay.
00:56:22Robert, Chris Myers, thanks for being with us.
00:56:2550-year celebration continues here.
00:56:27We started off with the Bucs in the preseason.
00:56:30Boy, the running game.
00:56:31I mean, they outran 87 rush yards for Tampa Bay, just seven for the Titans,
00:56:35and then they controlled the ball and the clock as well.
00:56:38I think Kyle Trask was impressive, but more so was that running game.
00:56:42Bunch of backups in at offensive line.
00:56:44Sean Tucker showcasing why he's probably better than RB3 in a lot of people's teams.
00:56:48But we're at the point in this game now, Chris, going to the second half,
00:56:52where guys are going to get their first opportunity to play professional football
00:56:55and get a chance to showcase what they can do for this football team.
00:57:00And that gets me excited.
00:57:01I mean, I remember being in this position,
00:57:03getting your first couple of looks for your coaches and your team,
00:57:06and we get the chance to highlight them tonight.
00:57:09I'm really excited about this second half.
00:57:10Yeah, you were a third-rounder that went on to a Hall of Fame career.
00:57:13Todd Bowles hoping to find a gem here.
00:57:15And it's just great to have the smell of football in the air,
00:57:20even though smelling salts are not in the air necessarily.
00:57:24Well done there.
00:57:25Well done for us.
00:57:25At least, Alicia, bring your own.
00:57:27Ryan Coe is going to kick it off.
00:57:32McLaughlin hit that 45-yard field goal to get the Bucs going,
00:57:36and they have not trailed since.
00:57:41Backing up at the two-yard line.
00:57:45D.K., the former Gator, up across the 30-yard line.
00:58:01Brandon Allen follows Cam Ward, who started.
00:58:04He came in in the second quarter.
00:58:06And we'll see, you know, Tampa Bay's defense played a lot of different people,
00:58:17and I know you're talking about Jacob Parrish.
00:58:19A couple plays he was moving around on,
00:58:23but showed that he belongs as Benjamin Morris,
00:58:26and also the rookie from Notre Dame, not playing tonight as secondary.
00:58:30I apologize if the audio is cutting in and out of the microphones here.
00:58:45We've got a lot of new guys out on the field now, Chris,
00:58:51in the second half on this defense.
00:58:52The guy who's still out there, though, is Chris Braswell, number 43.
00:58:58And Shiloh Sanders, one of the hopefuls for this Bucs roster spot.
00:59:03Dive into that depth chart secondary here in a minute.
00:59:0625-year-old rookie from Colorado.
00:59:08Allen's in trouble.
00:59:09And throws good attempt at that.
00:59:15Seymour Adike, fourth-rounder from University of Florida.
00:59:21Couldn't haul that in, but Marquise Watts is the one who put the pressure on Allen.
00:59:26Marquise Watts has been here a couple of years.
00:59:28He's another guy that we keep talking about edge pressure.
00:59:31And that's really one of the emphases on this defense,
00:59:33is finding guys that can put pressure off the edge.
00:59:36And Watts has had some pretty good preseasons here.
00:59:38Has that translated to the regular season?
00:59:41Not yet.
00:59:42But because they've had some depth issues here, keep an eye on him.
00:59:45See how much of this opportunity he's able to capture.
00:59:50Third down.
00:59:51Extra pressure is picked up for a moment, and the catch made across midfield.
00:59:56Gunner Helm, rookie tight end from Texas.
00:59:59Okay, man.
01:00:00Washington.
01:00:03Winner Helm.
01:00:12lámjour.
01:00:17Angie Swerve.
