00:00The European Athletics Championships will bring thousands of competitors and visitors to Birmingham next August.
00:08The first time the event has ever been held in the UK.
00:12Organisers are promising more than a week of competition.
00:15They want the championships to leave a lasting mark on the city's communities.
00:20The Beyond programme has been launched at Alexander Stadium to deliver that legacy.
00:25£90,000 in funding from UK Sport and the London Marathon Foundation.
00:29Will go to access sport and street games, two charities already working in the city to widen access to sport.
00:37The aim is to create more opportunities for young people, disabled participants and those in underserved areas to get involved in athletics.
00:45Plans include improving facilities at local clubs, running inclusive coaching sessions and building links with schools to get more children active.
00:54There will also be initiatives to support junior park runs, promote walking and running in schools and try and volunteers who can continue the work after the championships end.
01:04It's a sharp contrast to the city's last major sporting event, the 2022 Commonwealth Games, where large-scale housing and transport projects face delays, cost overruns and in some cases fail to deliver on their original promises.
01:20This time there are no expansive new stadiums or complex infrastructure schemes.
01:25Instead, organisers say they are focusing on what can be delivered directly with the resources already in place.
01:32The goal is to ensure the event's legacy is measured in participation, inclusion and opportunities, not just in memories of the week itself.
01:44Many teams have been working with asking for mysticalώ孩子 producers.
