10:22boyer always managed to stick because he coaches it the right way he coaches the players the right way
10:28and he maximizes effort from those guys because so much special teams is there's a lot of scheme to
10:33it now there's no question and there's boy you're there you can tell that he's just fired up i mean
10:38he is a he's like a robert solid guy he's going to bring the energy to that room into the field

13:05injuries this guy to me i think was a really good signing and amir abdullah with the raiders the
13:10last three years he brings a lot to the table in terms of the ability to run and then in the passing
13:16game patrick taylor's just a pro and we've seen already corey kinder making a couple of nice runs
13:22third down bradley steps in and that's broken up he was looking for watkins and getting a hand in there
13:27was chris abrams drain and so the 49ers will have to punt after what was about when you don't count the
13:34return of 14 second possession well good good protection by the offensive line and
13:42carter bradley gets to his back foot and just absolutely drills this jordan watkins i don't know
13:48if his depth was he wasn't past the the line to gain the sticks as he came back for that football but
13:53again that's twice would love to see him drive back harder for that football thomas morstead punting from
14:00his 10 to courtney jackson jackson's got a lot of room to roam he bobbles it a little bit again

14:30this league in his own right coaching these guys i'm telling you it's methodical now in terms of all
14:37the scheme and all the coaching that go it's going to end up guide 700 plus snaps during the course of
14:42the year and boyer knows it and knows how important it is as does kyle shanahan so 59 seconds denver used
14:50a couple of timeouts on defense to try and set up here a possession before the locker room instead of
14:55gets that out quick to bidet but he can't get out of bounds so the clock keeps ticking
15:03just soft zone keeping it all in front of him kalia davis again having being a little factor in terms of
15:09forcing the throw
15:14stedham steps up on the money and there's trent shurfield the former 49er who makes the catch
15:20that's a good concept good play call and good execution by stedham stepping up in the pocket
15:26and throwing it right in the hole see the rush coming to the outside he's going to throw it outside
15:31of nick martin behind the corner and in front of derrick canteen well done good timing
15:36on that routing and throw 19 yard play
15:50play clock is down and stedham gets it off now he loads up again shurfield again
16:03and he caught it touchdown broncos
16:07but what a catch by shurfield all the way to the ground he holds on to it dallas flowers is in good
16:17position what a throw from stedham because it was that last two steps is where the separation happened
16:24you can see flowers great position eye on the ball as soon as he took his eye off the ball
16:29you start seeing a little bit of separation and really well done by
16:33surefield to come down with that football on his fingertips and pinning it
16:37to his face mask and then pulling it in and he have that ball secured while both feet were still down
16:45it looked like that left toe may have been right there before that ball was
16:49really possessed all these guys get a good look at it the Niners have the biggest 4k video screens
16:55they just put them in this year in the league
16:57and they are clear well the question is is he is he bobbling it and you could
17:05certainly argue that he is there on his helmet did that left toe stay in bounds i i think it did
17:10i and he finished it through the field ruling of a touchdown is under review
17:16right foot down still bobbling it left foot looked like he was able to throw the inside of that heel
17:24down on the green grass and then came down and possessed the football and the question right is is this
17:29going to be clear and obvious to overturn that he didn't have it

17:45of course when i see a trent shurfield touchdown i think of one of the most wild days in recent 49ers
17:49history when he caught a touchdown to start the game for the miami dolphins
17:52and a few plays later the brock purdy party began after jimmy grauplo got hurt and it felt like oh
18:01what is going to happen to this 49er season and brock purdy came in and kept it on the tracks under
18:07ridiculous relentless pressure from the miami defense just throwing everything including the kitchen sink at
18:15brock and he had answers for all of it which was amazing so trent shurfield has a place as a player and
18:20there's a moment in 49ers history the the call on the field was touchdown
18:28what a throw from instead of i mean he just put that right where shurfield could go get it
18:33flowers a pretty decent coverage balls getting pulled in right there both feet looked like they were in
18:38it's not going to do the left foot rolling on the field stands as called touchdown yeah that's the right ball
18:44they're over the niners the video ability in the stadium is off the charts over three dozen cameras
18:55here that can all be accessible to the replay center and we we saw how good those looks were from our cameras
19:02and enough there to confirm the second touchdown in as many possessions or at least uphold the second
19:09touchdown in as many possessions for denver denver striking quick here sean payton's group executing

19:50ball mac jones let him down eight eight to play touchdown drive and then got a safety on an intentional
19:57grounding in the end zone from bonex sustaining drives obviously after the the first one has been
20:05a challenge the pressure on the second drive was all over mac jones and then two of the next three
20:09interceptions amir abdullah is going to return this for the 49ers and he gets out to about the 31 yard
20:16line 21 seconds two timeouts and back comes carter bradley
20:21and i don't think carter's done at the half i think because he's still trying to figure out
20:32this kyle shanahan scheme i i think he could play certainly in through the third quarter before
20:37tanner mordecai just re-signed gets on the field clay kubiak calling plays today we should say as well
20:43for the 49ers as he did in the preseason last year and week 18 against the arizona cardinals
20:49and kyle shanahan lifted open for him to perhaps call plays in the next two preseason games as well

21:03on his back well we saw issues earlier with burford on on bonito and this time it's ellis that's able to

21:55pleasance who's done a nice job as they look for that tackle but he gets a wide set and ellis sees that

25:37looking like a well-oiled operation right now for denver well shurfield knows how to run these keepers
25:43and and nobody picks him up as he's going to come from the right side of your screen and nick martin's and
25:49it looks like he's late to the party the rookie derrick canteen who's playing safety and certainly
25:55has played a lot of corner as well neither one of those guys are there and well-timed up there

26:40and i i will tell you this about jacob robinson and he is undrafted free agent out of byu
26:47he is not very big when you look at his size 5 10 180 185 pounds but this guy can mirror and he can
26:56he can really cover and stay in the guy's hip pocket he has been impressive especially for
27:00an undrafted guy four three nine forty reported at his pro day stidham there's sure field again
27:07and stone blanton's able to clip him a flag comes in at the end of the play shy of the line to gain

27:23that's on surefield gets a little push off as he's trying to drive back to the football
27:30back to the point on robinson he was a team captain at byu you know that takes a mature guy you're going
27:43to be a team captain at byu no doubt and and that guy can play again he's they'll tell you well he's not
27:48very big it doesn't matter if you can run and anticipate what routes are and read routes and get
27:54right in the guy's hip pocket he has been all around the football
27:57stidham on the move again and this time he will tuck it
28:01and stays in bounds and picks up a few extra yards it looked like maybe jalen allen would be able to
28:07usher him out and stidham showed his legs today stidham's got some foot speed because i'm going to tell
28:12you jalen allen can run and he's just trying to work outside and he's trying to get off a block and
28:18stidham just turns the corner and then stays in bounds till the last second
28:22he's able to get him to a third and and still long he'd love to see the 49ers get on the the time of

30:49every day and kyle shanahan knows it coming to work being steady he you see him in the weight room
30:55pre-practice and he's doing all the same exact things day in and day out that he did from day one
31:01when he got to the 49ers is mr irrelevant and he's just continued to get better and better and again the
31:07best thing he does is process read defenses and deliver the mail on time jake tonge is wide open he
31:13comes back to make the catch out to the 30 and a big pickup for carter bradley and to give the 49ers
31:20some breathing room and jake's going to have an opportunity now he is in a battle with brayden willis
31:27if in fact they keep four tight ends and gets dropped in coverage did he catch that or did that ball go down
31:32and hit the ground not a great throw there
31:37but jake tonge is wide open and that's one thing they're going to review this or take a look at it
31:42and be a challenge flag over there from from sean payton i think it i think it hits the ground it looks

33:05brayden willis drew moss right guard gets a nice block down and then corey kiner with that lower body
33:11strength and that lower center of gravity able to run through tackles back at it trying to burrow his way for
33:18a couple yards and he's got the first down and when you think of bobby turner 30 year running back
33:24coach and arguably the best in the nfl of what he does and all the guys in denver and here that he's
33:30able just to plug in and train and it is precise now i'm telling you if you can watch how precise
33:37bobby turner is when he's coaching these guys on where their landmarks are what they're looking for how
33:42to put their foot in the ground and chew up that grass in front of them no surprise that
33:47corey corey kiner is a nice fit for this scheme jake tonjas in the backfield and that ball is batted back

34:26he made a huge hit on special teams and mike shanahan got on the headset and said to bobby turner did
34:31you see that and bobby said yeah i saw it and uh he put terrell davis in the game and the the rest is
34:37history off to canton he went off to the hall of fame a lot of great backs or landis gary offense
34:44five yard penalty second down the marine mike anderson it doesn't matter bobby t gets him he's
34:50going to coach him up to to have some success well i was talking to him about it this week he said you
34:54know part of it was i terrell wasn't going to play so i was explaining to him what he should do on every

35:26let go was he in bounds i could rule the end of this play first you're right though tim the illegal use
35:31of hands number 96 defense five yard penalty automatic first down so then i'm gonna they're still talking
35:39about whether the ball was caught in bounds but it doesn't matter
35:42never let go on now that's wouldn't have been put in it wouldn't have been an interception he's
35:56trying to get it to tarik owens the 49ers wide receiver son of course of the hall of famer
36:03t.o and not a good decision to throw into that loaded coverage
36:06tariq's made some plays i give him some credit he had some good plays the other day in the scrimmage
36:13against denver and he's here last year on practice squad he's made some nice plays in in training camp
36:19a couple of tight ends in the game and kinders running behind both of them
36:23and then flags come in to blow this dead the Niners moved

36:48he's been around for a while i think was in dallas and got here for

36:56really gotten a lot better as a football player

37:05and moves the pile forward and this will make it a second down and manageable
37:09for the 49ers when you're in these inside runs and these cutback runs the center and the guards have
37:15gotten to get movement watch drake nugent right there at center and then the the seventh round pick
37:23connor colby big movement on the interior defensive tackle amir abdulla sees it foot in the ground
37:29downhill for a nice game amir abdulla had 40 catches last year for the raiders
37:36picks up pressure and bradley competes that to isaiah hodgens the san jose kid who grew up in
37:45walnut creek went to barine christian high school
37:48his dad james hodgens battering ram for the greatest show on turf at fullback was
37:53went to my alma mater high school of grove here in san jose an absolute stud so
37:58good route good throw well timed as hodgens catches it and that's what they want to see from
38:05from carter bradley put in the ground set your feet be sure of what you're looking at and let it rip
38:11with accuracy good job that time at last check it was unclear exactly how many tickets hodgens has out

38:53how does the tight end battle shape up for the 40 well i think rasta well he's back which
38:57it's good to see him um and and we've talked about tonjes and and brayden willis in the battle for
39:03maybe that final tight end spot but i got to tell you and we know what kittle is his
39:08multi-dimensional best tight end in history and a great blocker here with the 49ers luke farrell is
39:14a big ad from jacksonville and free agency charlie warner a couple of years ago no question he was missed in the run game
39:21that duel of the ball came out i don't think he got the line again and denver's recovered it
39:27it's a shame it's a fumble recovered by the defense and it looks like amir's got an injury too
39:34he got stonewalled out of the pile come savi on jones with it the rookie from lsu
39:49and the 49ers training staff will tend to
39:53amir's turnover number three for the 49er offense
39:56in this game and all in bad positions on the grid
39:59a couple of picks and now the fumble
40:03flags down not everybody on the same page stidham just heaves it
40:07and into the hands he's out but out of bounds of pat bryant
40:16that play was a little disheveled defense

40:31well in this defense now the the inside linebackers are gonna have to cover a lot of these deep over
40:36special routes one down and did not get the second one down there for bryant as he was getting away
40:42from stone blanton but that's that's a big
40:47big job for linebackers to cover those routes out of those tight splits in this defensive scheme
40:52blake watson his first carry today breaking away
40:55and coming up to make the tackle was uh jalen mahoney
41:01but they get some backs with some burst on the team and that's nothing but burst and burst it right
41:06through nick martin who's in position to make this play able to bounce off the block but just drips off
41:12of watson's lower body eventually mahoney able to to tattoo him and get him down
41:20nick martin is a run and hit guy they want to see him make those tackles playing with a thumb he
41:26broke while weightlifting in june
41:30stidham with pressure in his face gets it out watson and he gets away from martin first down
41:34this game started with such great tackling from this 49ers defense yeah and it's certainly
41:46falling off here as they've spent more time on the field than the 49ers
41:51have started rotating a lot of guys in there you'd love to see watson that's challenge now as he's out
41:56there in that zone and he's got his eyes on the quarterback but you got to anticipate where
42:00where stidham is going with that football and be in better position
