00:00And against these NFL running
00:01backs that have a lot of juice if
00:03you're not on the right angle and
00:04on the right track you're going to
00:06be out of position and give up
00:08too many extra yards back to the
00:11ground Watson again and he gets
00:14upended after a couple two guys
00:16on the right track that time Nick
00:18Martin and Chase Lucas coming
00:19from the offside at the other
00:21side of the defense from his
00:23nickel position just torpedoes
00:27you're going to see is Nick
00:28Martin flies up here but watch
00:30twenty six pursuit of the ball
00:31and Chase and you can see with
00:34Chase Lucas as he's played
00:35tonight the lights going on for
00:37him consistently he's anticipating
00:40where things are going he's not
00:42taking the cheese he's not taking
00:43the bait it's like a constant
00:46hypotheses and that's defensive
00:48football on every play guy and
00:49educated guess on what's coming
00:51and if you can be good at that
00:53you're going to have an
00:54opportunity to to not be late to
00:56the party a constant
00:59hypotheses constantly your every
01:01play it's a hypothesis on the
01:03defensive player what's an
01:05educated guess on what's coming
01:07Lucas pressure off the edge and
01:09that play gets blown dead well
01:11Lucas he is dancing around right now
01:14he thought he had a clear shot at
01:15you're going to have a good time
01:16that's going to have a good time
01:18he loves ball six tackles pass
01:31defense force the safety early in
01:32the game on on Bo Nix as he was an
01:35unblocked blitzer and again if you
01:39got good anticipation and that's
01:41defensive football and then you
01:44make your your keys and you
01:45diagnose the play you're going to
01:48be there and have an opportunity to
01:50make a lot of plays and he has
01:51certainly done that throughout this
01:52game second and twelve quick out to
01:54the running back what said and he
01:56gets tackled right away this time
02:00Nick Martin gets it done third
02:02rounder after four years at Oklahoma
02:04State had a hundred and forty tackles
02:07his last healthy season in college
02:09look at him come up and attack that
02:12outside leg I love the fact that
02:14there's been a couple of rough plays
02:16he's been out of position he missed
02:17a tackle but again being sure of
02:21himself on that play getting to his
02:23landmark eyes on the quarterback
02:24seeing the quick throw out there and
02:26driving up on the right track it's
02:28all about angles for these linebackers
02:31and converging on the ball carrier
02:33third down and twelve Valdez bringing
02:36heat Watson as a flag comes in Watson
02:41gets the first down but we'll check on
02:43the penalty
02:44ineligible player downfield number 73
02:52offense five-yard penalty third down
02:56tell you what Blake Watson has got some
03:01juice and there's the right tackle
03:05over there down the field good job by
03:07Valdez this time Martin comes a little
03:09bit out of control as he's trying to
03:11get to the inside of that block as
03:13he's closing down on on Watson avoided
03:17a nice game there with the offensive
03:20tackle illegally down the field now
03:22third down at 17 Denver's converted
03:27he's going to be able to get some
03:29long ones tonight
03:34set him on the draw
03:38and Stone Blanton gets a nose in
03:40there really well done by Stone
03:43Blanton who is a tackling machine
03:44estimate there and then when it's
03:47able to lock out the offensive linemen
03:49know where he's supposed to be where
03:53his fit is pushes him backwards and
03:55still able to be a big factor there
03:57on the tackle
03:58and draft a great and out of
04:00Mississippi State K.J. Wright on the
04:02Niner staff a Mississippi State guy
04:04advocated for Bland who started his
04:06career in South Carolina third field
04:09goal attempt for Will Lutz
04:11tonight from 45 and he drills it for
04:1923 unanswered for the Broncos in
04:23this game Niners led once upon a
04:25time nine to nothing the Kyle
04:28Shanahan's offense is called by
04:30Clay Kubiak coming back out and
04:32obviously an injury last year and
04:34did not play very much I can tell
04:37you he is absolutely back looking
04:39like his old all pro so Corey kind
04:42of with a nice return out to the
04:4335 that the shame of it the glory
04:46of it is the shame of it you don't
04:48want to see Nick Bosa and Trent
04:49Williams against each other in a
04:51game you mean they'd be on
04:51different teams but to see him in
04:53practice when it happens you talk
04:55about a chess match and Trent who
04:58again he's always probing you know
04:59he does a lot of boxing so he's
05:01probing jabs out there trying to get
05:03guys to take the bait and the one
05:04thing he said about Nick Bosa is
05:07because you can't show Nick the
05:08same pass set twice because if you
05:12get him on it one time the very
05:13night if you throw him the same
05:14thing the next pass protection
05:16he's got the counter he's already
05:18got it dialed up so it's it's
05:20awesome to watch those two guys
05:21go at it nothing like playing for
05:23a team you signed with the same
05:25day Keyshawn Vaughn was in the
05:27building last night signed with
05:28the Niners officially today and is
05:31appearing in the game tonight and
05:33saw Amir Abdullah go down and walk
05:35off on the 49ers last possession
05:38and they never forget what Bobby
05:39Turner teaches him he already
05:42knows it's just been drilled into
05:44him relentlessly what he's supposed
05:46to do where he's supposed to go
05:47what his landmarks are played in a
05:49couple of games last year for the
05:5049ers spent four years in Tampa
05:53before that Bradley through the
05:55hands of the rookie junior Bergen
05:58the seventh round pick from
05:59Billings that Montana heat on it
06:02that's what you said he's got
06:03right that's that was a great
06:04illustration and Bergen's got to
06:05make that catch as he's running
06:07the end cut but watch Bradley set
06:09his feet drive into that and I
06:11promise you Bergen heard that ball
06:13coming out of it was hissing out
06:14of got to make that catch there's
06:19Nick Bosa third down and six
06:32and Robbie chosen can't get out to
06:38that one and it falls incomplete
06:39but a flag comes in well he looked
06:41like he was holding Robbie chosen
06:43as he was trying it I'm hoping he
06:45was trying to drive up on that
06:47football and close the gap on it
06:49fair and couldn't get to it three
06:51defense automatic first down
06:54Jaden Robinson the rookie from
06:56Oregon State
06:57the first down yeah he's he
07:06could not get back to that
07:08football Robinson was holding on
07:10the jersey on top of that right
07:12shoulder pad but that was again
07:14another illustration of Carter
07:16Bradley being able to zip that
07:18football outside the numbers over
07:20there on a rope to the Denver
07:22sideline he gives the 40 matters
07:24the first down ton just in front of
07:28kinder play action good pocket all
07:30the time in the world to take a
07:32shot for a hot jeans and he
07:34overshoots him
07:35well he had what he wanted there
07:41with Mathis on the on the backside
07:44of Isaiah Hodgins they're going to
07:46come out to the right and he's just
07:47going to run deep down the middle
07:49down the middle of the field boy
07:54and and again I know there's
07:55landmarks and throwing it down the
07:57seams not a lot of chemistry with
08:00with Carter Bradley throwing to
08:02these guys I think if he could
08:04have just laid it out in front of
08:06Isaiah Hodgins he would have had
08:07a chance to chew up some grass and
08:09go get it you know Hodges the
08:11local kid wanted that Jordan
08:12Watkins back to the game he gets
08:13it on the jet sweep breaks a
08:15tackle Watkins breaks another can't
08:18quite he gets held up at least in
08:20time for Jordan Turner the rookie
08:23from Michigan State to come on and
08:25make the tackle and that's I think
08:26that's you said Debo's chain was
08:28here earlier in the stadium he's
08:30not but this is one play that is a
08:33Debo Samuel play they're trying to
08:36feed that jet sweep to Jordan
08:37Watkins coming around the corner
08:39well played out there by the outside
08:40linebacker forcing him to bubble it
08:42out but you know with that without
08:45Debo I really don't know how much
08:47and I'm sure they're still going to
08:48be dialed up and they're going to
08:49be in there but how much Kyle
08:50Shanahan is going to be calling
08:52those kind of Debo plays which
08:54certainly when they were were
08:55spectacular you see what he and
08:57Clay Kubiak has dialed up for a
08:59third and seven coming up as we
09:01get ready for the fourth quarter
09:05football is back Tim fired up
09:12it goes to a championship here in
09:15Super Bowl 50 and the Super Bowl
09:17returns on February 8th and we
09:23begin the fourth quarter with a
09:24third down and seven and pressure
09:26coming from the Broncos and
09:28Carter Bradley and Robbie chosen
09:30not on the same page and you can
09:31see it I mean neither one of those
09:33guys have been here for very long
09:35so clearly not on the same page
09:38there Bradley's throwing up a
09:40quicker route Robbie chosen's
09:42running the burner route the go
09:44route down the sideline no chance
09:46and it felt it looked like Carter
09:48was saying that was on me waving
09:51out to Robbie chosen and so Thomas
09:55Morstead on the punt spent the
10:01last two years with Bram Boyer the
10:0349ers special teams coach and
10:04Robert Sala in New York with the
10:05Jets and this loops way up in the
10:12air is going to force a fair catch
10:14from Courtney Jackson Brock Purdy
10:18will speak with Bernd Glenn when
10:20we all right back at Levi's state
10:25and where we are joined by QB one
10:27Brock Purdy and right off the bat I
10:29mean this whole training camp we're
10:32not seeing a whole lot of balls left
10:33on the ground I mean I wasn't how
10:35much of a testament is that you're
10:37working yeah I think I mean it just
10:39goes to show like the chemistry with
10:41George Christian use drag Ricky
10:44Pierce saw coming back like we've
10:45got guys that we've played together
10:46with for a while now so it always
10:48feels good going out there competing
10:50against our defense and obviously
10:51move the ball getting completions so
10:53it's been fun your ability to
10:54process where's that come from
10:56because wherever you put the ball the
10:58receivers there I think just
11:00preparation and reps on reps from
11:02college to here in the NFL at the
11:04practice you know sitting down with
11:06Kyle going over our answers and just
11:09preparing that you can't prepare
11:11enough especially at this level in the
11:13NFL so I just want to be ready for
11:16every opportunity that's given to me
11:18and find the answer within every play
11:19let's take it back to Thursday's joint
11:21practice there was a top five defense
11:24I mean it made you work for a little
11:26bit right yeah no Denver did a great
11:27job coming up here going against us
11:30and stuff I thought it was a great
11:31test for all of us for our offensive
11:34line and getting their work our skill
11:35position for myself being able to
11:37process get the ball out and compete
11:39so I thought we did a good job
11:40finishing practice out the right way
11:42but it's just a good good practice
11:44for us to watch the film do better
11:45what are you making tonight I know
11:47you usually being in uniform on the
11:49sideline I mean just watching these
11:51young guys see what they can do
11:52obviously you'd love to see when the
11:54lights are on in a game environment
11:56the young guys like what are they
11:58gonna gonna do they're gonna step up
12:00do their job and under pressure gonna
12:02be able to you know complete pass and
12:05catch the ball that's that's the stuff
12:06that I love watching here in these
12:08preseason games so wish I was out there
12:10too playing so yeah I know after the
12:12game once you get home first thing you
12:14want to do is check in on your daughter
12:16oh no no doubt yes she's at home with
12:19Jenna and can't wait to go home to see
12:21him and I'll go I'm a little girl
12:22all right hey I've got a dad joke to
12:24leave with you let's go here we go what
12:26are the oceans say to the beach nothing
12:29it just waved I'll keep that I'll keep
12:34that Brock thanks yeah appreciate it go
12:37Niners all right guys all right Vern I'd
12:40love that you think he'll use that on
12:42young Millie Purdy tonight yeah that's
12:46that's good listen and and that was a
12:50that was a good interview by Byrne
12:51Chase Lucas chasing guys everywhere
12:53again making plays on defense but
12:55Brock Purdy he's so humble he's just
12:59you know we talked about how steady is
13:01but don't underestimate how hard it is
13:03to process and what he's able to do
13:05when you got 11 guys trying to rip
13:08your your hole out and how he's able
13:10to find the answers in the offense
13:11which is a great feather in the cap
13:13for Kyle Shanahan calling plays
13:15it'll be a fun test and we'll see how
13:18much in the preseason we see but when
13:19the season opens on the road in the
13:21division at Seattle oh it swept by
13:25Seattle last year I know they won the
13:27first game up there when Renardo had
13:29the big interception early that'll be a
13:31big moment but I got to tell you
13:33Brock Purdy for Kyle Shanahan and we've
13:35seen him go through these quarterbacks
13:36and has had some good ones Garoppolo and
13:38everything but when the quarterback sees
13:40it like the coach and he doesn't miss a
13:42lot easier on the play caller and all
13:45the plays he was able to make and a lot
13:46with his legs and most with his his mind
13:51you think about Brock last year and
13:54obviously the injury to McCaffrey was
13:56huge and the Achilles not being ready
13:58for the start of the season but then
13:59you lose Iook and in November Trent
14:02Williams is out for a good a good
14:05portion of the year and when you think
14:07of you know going into the year with
14:09all the Super Bowl aspirations coming
14:10off the Kansas City loss the year
14:12before with Brock CMC Brandon Iook
14:16Kittle and and Debo all on the field
14:19together and visions of grandeur
14:22throughout the course of the year guy
14:24those guys were all together on the
14:26field for a grand total of 57 snaps
14:30out of a thousand plus snaps and Brock
14:34still had this in this offense number
14:36two in the NFL and plays at 25 plus
14:38driving it down the field Tanner
14:40Mordecai the new quarterback number
14:4132 defense automatic first down
14:45Mordecai briefly released in this camp
14:49and and now back on the roster
14:51competing for QB three with Carter
14:52Bradley whose night is done Tanner is
14:56a terrific terrific athlete and and you
15:00see examples of that all the time
15:02nice cut there in the in the hole by
15:04Corey Kiner they just want to see in
15:07my opinion I think just Mordecai did to
15:09have some urgency and some intensity
15:11not that he's not an intense guy but to
15:15just really go out and be like hey
15:16man I'm not going to make the same
15:18mistakes over again and I'm not
15:19supposed to throw it to this hole
15:21versus this coverage you read it and
15:23you deliver it he's been a lot of
15:26quarterback battles in his young career
15:27with Tyler Murray with Jalen Hurts at
15:30Oklahoma with Spencer Rattler spent a
15:32couple years at SMU and then finish up
15:34his college career Wisconsin play
15:35action here and he loses the football
15:38that is able to fall on it
15:40well the keeper action is he's going
15:49out to the right and as soon as he
15:51pats that ball and grips it to unload
15:53it and I think he was going to ton just
15:55out there in the flat it just slipped
15:57out of his hand
15:58and so now it's third down and 19
16:02like Denver is not taking the bait on
16:05any of these keepers
16:06that's a benefit of that five man
16:11front with those athletic outside
16:13linebackers is they're up in a two
16:14point they can see it and get after
16:16it Mordecai just pulls it down takes
16:18off running and he's going to get out
16:20across the 37 yard line it's going to
16:23be short of the line again we got
16:24fourth down at about four you might
16:27want to Kyle may go for it well from
16:29that play call it makes you wonder
16:30right Clay Kubiak calling the plays
16:32today and Shanahan making the decision
16:35here to keep the offense on the field
16:37why not now you can see the
16:39athleticism there from Tanner Mordecai
16:41and just cuts off the block of Corey
16:44Kiner in the middle of the field and
16:46his sells out to try to get to that
16:48line to gain here we go fourth and
16:50four little louder than normal when
16:52your offense has the ball because the
16:53wave is going around the stadium and
16:55Robbie chosen cannot break the tackle
16:58that throw was short of the first down
17:00line and then I just turned it over on
17:02down yeah and you saw Denver there is
17:06obviously on a fourth down advanced
17:08Joseph has a pretty good idea of what's
17:11coming Robbie chosen on that crosser and
17:14took a walk 49ers.com 49ers went for it
17:22fourth down in their own territory
17:25didn't get it Denver takes over Sam
17:30Ellinger now in at quarterback QB three
17:33for the Broncos guess who 26 chase
17:36Lucas chasing everybody around making
17:38another tackle his energy level is just
17:45off the chart and his eyes are on
17:47point tonight he is seeing it again
17:49there's so many plays you've got to
17:52make in the run game and you got to
17:54see it and he knows right where to
17:57fit slips in there it's some good D
18:01line play in front of him and able to
18:03wrap up the lower body what a great
18:04game for for chase Lucas Ellinger
18:08with a lead block from the tight end
18:10out in front and he's able to pick up
18:12the first down that was Caleb Loner the
18:14rookie from Utah so first opportunity
18:18for Ellinger today started three games
18:21in his career since he came into the
18:23league in 2021 the sixth round pick
18:25of the Colts it's fun doing certainly
18:27fun to watch in Texas that's for sure
18:29and did a lot of this where he could
18:31take off and use that let those legs
18:34Sean Payton dialing up some zone
18:36reads and nothing in the game plan for
18:40that defensively that's just about
18:42disappointing great eyes
18:43Ellinger plenty of time Ellinger end
18:47zone looking and it's incomplete but
18:51Tony was closing in on Courtney Jackson
18:55the rookie from Arkansas State who's
18:56been a returner today Ellinger late
18:59seeing that so Courtney Jackson's got to
19:01wait for it nice job by Mahoney catching
19:05up getting back in the play and able to
19:08be a major factor in that under thrown
19:11late ball Mahoney second year out of
19:13Vanderbilt played in three games
19:16mostly on special teams last year as an
19:19undrafted free agent rookie
19:26Luke is coming on pressure gets picked
19:29up and it's caught by Jackson as
19:33Mahoney makes the tackle and that's the
19:35way it's supposed to work you dial up a
19:37pressure you know there's going to be a
19:38hot you know there's going to be a beater
19:40and the replacement defender has got to
19:42be there to take away that quick throw to
19:45Jackson and really well done by Jalen Mahoney
19:48understanding the pressure was going to
19:50force the quick throw and having his
19:52eyes in the right spot and rallying up
19:54to force the third down
19:55so what does this defense do here on
20:00third and six with Denver knocking on
20:03the red zone door
20:0449ers bring pressure Ellinger with Bradley
20:13and I in pursuit overshoots his intended
20:16target in the end zone is your one
20:18Newton and now it's fourth and six
20:24Bradley and I force him out of there
20:26and trying to chase him down a little
20:31delayed rush there's nobody open it's
20:33man coverage good job by Trey Brown
20:35over the middle of the field and
20:36really a good job by Jacob Robinson not
20:38giving up once that scramble play
20:40started with Newton that's one thing
20:41about Sean Payton's offense is when
20:43those plays break down and it's the
20:44scramble drill guys really know how to
20:47space out their deep come shallow if
20:49they're shallow go deep and get to the
20:51right spot good job by Robinson never
20:54was really good on fourth downs last
20:56year one of the best in the league
20:57coming up to make the tackle Trey
21:00Brown and shy of the line to gain is
21:04Denver's back and it's 49ers goal field
21:08is the runner is short of the line to
21:10gain first down San Francisco that
21:13was Blake Watson my nice job by Trey
21:16Brown as he's gonna just knife right
21:18through this lower body put his right
21:20shoulder on that lower body on Watson
21:23who we've seen already tonight is not
21:24easy to tackle in the open field well
21:28done there by the former Seattle
21:30Seahawks well it's definitely a first
21:32down if he doesn't make that play and a
21:33lot more to after that it was a lot of
21:35green grass that's first takeaway on
21:37defense it's a and it's turnover on
21:40downs but offensively three turnovers
21:42and of course the last drive turnover
21:44on down so well done by the D
21:47Tanner Mordecai back in he plants he
21:50throws and holding on the Niners get
21:53the first down
21:54and that is that ton just again there is
21:59strong catch that time took a big hit
22:01look like he took a hit in the ribs
22:03but this falls behind him the pressure
22:04is coming and Jake Tonjes with a great
22:07adjustment on the football contouring
22:09his body spinning around no one he's
22:12gonna get the hit and is able to pull
22:14it in big time play 49ers led this
22:18game nine to nothing early trying to
22:19put a drive together here Tanner
22:22Mordecai handing it off to Corey
22:24Kiner and Kiner puts the shoulder in
22:27boy I like him guy I mean he just sees
22:30it and hits it and you've already
22:32referenced you know his ability to
22:34break tackles in college but it's the
22:36vision he's gonna start here and find
22:39the gap inside cutting off that block
22:41from Drew Moss who gets the washout
22:43block and kind of just foot in the
22:46ground decisive downhill hard to get
22:49down Mordecai pumps oh he does the
22:53Purdy turn and now throws it back the
22:56other way and it is intercepted he got
23:00his feet down Joshua Pickett well that
23:04is only on the field there's an
23:06interception that's a lot of hurt for a
23:09bad decision to try to squeeze that
23:12ball in there you I mean I know
23:17everybody's like getting in and he's
23:18got pressure in his face unloads it
23:20off his back foot and see both feet
23:23in bounds there finishes through the
23:26ground by by Pickett bad decision
23:29to throw that ball the rookie out of
23:30the Duke fourth turnover third
23:35interception for the 49ers tonight a
23:39lot of teaching moments coming off
23:41this game and really and these guys
23:43know it but the importance of ball
23:44security and protecting the football
23:46the number one stat year after year
23:49bar none well Mordecai had the fumble
23:51remember on the last possession that
23:52he recovered didn't lose it
23:57by the way watching the 49ers on
24:00offense against this Denver defense
24:01seeing Karene Reed running around in
24:02the Broncos number 47 yeah just think
24:07of John Lynch out there no doubt
24:10John such a fixture of course the
24:12general manager so obviously a fixture
24:14but out at 49ers practice often
24:17watching closely at this group they've
24:20they put so much into this defense
24:21youth on defense and it hasn't been
24:23easy now the way they had to you know
24:25really purge the roster in the off
24:27season well that was very good for
24:32bastion Valdez you can see Dominic
24:33Pooney said we call him the Hulk look at
24:36him 55 getting angry he doesn't say
24:39anything this guy in one-on-ones and
24:41you can see I mean he is he is jacked
24:44he's on an inside charge comes inside
24:47shoots the gap and it's one thing to
24:49shoot the gap and get leverage but
24:51it's a whole nother thing to be able
24:52to finish with the foot speed and he's
24:56got all of it he does not lose really
24:58and very rarely in one-on-ones when
25:00it's one-on-one pass rush versus the
25:02pass protectors he has gotten better
25:04and better and certainly is in the mix
25:07to try to get a roster spot inside
25:09pre-draft he bench pressed 225 pounds
25:1234 times Ellinger checks this one down
25:15to Estime and Estime is going to make
25:17Jalen Graham chase him and more first
25:19down and he gets down to the 30 inside
25:22the 30-yard line well as good as the
25:24tackling was early it's it's gotten a
25:26little shoddy here and to be expected
25:29in preseason game number one
25:32and Estime I mean Jalen Graham does a
25:36good job of forcing him back inside
25:38to where all the help is Mahoney's
25:41got to end up chopping him down as
25:43he's running through arm tackles
25:45Ellinger steps away from the pressure
25:47of Jalen Allen and then sidearm loops
25:49it incomplete and have an illegal man
25:53downfield here again good call
25:56ineligible number 64 is downfield
25:59five-yard penalty replay first down
26:01it's the offensive lineman Clay Webb
26:04well you mentioned the challenge you
26:08know given all the losses last year
26:11319 million dollars spent on 49ers
26:14departing free agents the most all time
26:18now the Niners also spent the second
26:20most money in the league 557 million
26:23on extensions free agents and draft
26:26picks
26:26for the 49ers oh yeah it's definitely
26:29not a rebuild it's reload and and the
26:31stars have got to shine and they I
26:33believe they will for the 49ers this
26:35year but they're going to need a lot
26:37of contributions from all that balls
26:40out I think Stone Blanton punch it
26:41Ellinger finally got back to it Stone
26:45Blanton got a fist in there you know
26:48a couple weeks ago talking to Johnny
26:51Holland he made the point to say that
26:52Stone Blanton is near the top of the
26:5440 ladders leaderboard in the locker
26:58room on what they call ball production
27:00on defense well that was a classic
27:03clinic Fred Warner punch out right there
27:06and Stone Cold Blanton with the left
27:09hand putting it right on the pigskin and
27:11knocking it out no one thing guy it
27:12always starts with a nickname you don't
27:15have a nickname you may be in trouble
27:17that's a good you know his real middle
27:19name is also good it's Archer Stone
27:21Archer Blanton but I like Stone Cold
27:24that ball is nearly intercepted by Jalen
27:28Graham good pressure up inside poor
27:30Selinger to unload that Jalen Graham
27:33with those long arms almost able to pick
27:35it up off the ground
27:36there's Shelton inside working the
27:43inside rip move working a twist with
27:47dunk for it almost a fingertip catch
27:50there for the interception by Jalen
27:51Graham it would have been a gift to
27:53watch Jalen Graham sprint 80 yards
27:55huh and nobody was going to catch it
27:57third down Ellinger and he finds a soft
28:04spot and a first down as that ball is
28:07caught by Joaquin Davis the rookie out of
28:09North Carolina Central and the space he's
28:13just not good there as he found the
28:14hole versus that cover to 2d defense
28:18over there safety late getting over
28:23the top not a lot of depth by the
28:25corner Jacob Robinson as he's holding
28:27up in the end his technique and well
28:30time good throw
28:38like Watson
28:43the 49ers will go off to Las Vegas
28:45next week joint practice with the
28:47Raiders on Thursday get the day off
28:50Friday and then play on Saturday
28:52afternoon at Allegiant and then back
28:54home the third preseason game here
28:55will be against the Chargers before
28:59the season begins in Seattle
29:04be excited to see Ashton Jenty that
29:06with with the Las Vegas Raiders and
29:09Geno Smith the quarterback and got a
29:12lot of good players on that team Pete
29:14Carroll bouncing around so much
29:17familiarity this is a very familiar
29:20preseason between all the history
29:23between the Shanahan's the 49ers the
29:25Broncos are on and on and on and then
29:27you go and you see Pete Carroll you're
29:29so familiar with and then back here
29:30and Jim Harbaugh that's right Lance
29:32that's right
29:36Trey looked good in that that first
29:38game for for the LA Chargers and
29:41can in the Hall of Fame game got
29:43extended playing time
29:48third down
29:52estimate trying to bounce it outside
29:55and catch the corner he's able to
29:56do it and it'll be first in gold
29:58Denver now that's a shame because
30:00Stone Bland came on a run blitz up
30:02inside
30:04trying to get to estimate but out on
30:06the edge Bradley and I just not in
30:09great position and Jacob Robinson the
30:11corner out here you've got to force
30:13that back inside
30:14sorry just peeked inside a little bit
30:20shuffled his feet and got out
30:21leveraged and that would have been a
30:23TFL if the corner sets the edge out
30:26there for for the run blitzing
30:28Blanton right up the gut
30:30Robert Sala after his three-plus
30:32season says the Jets head coach
30:34looking for little wins getting a
30:36stop here and forcing a field goal
30:38would be that
30:39Nick Martin makes that tackle too
30:42late touchdown Broncos
30:44and it's 29 unanswered for the
30:58Broncos yeah Nick Martin is in in
31:01coverage here and pre scoring just
31:02comes out from that position there
31:03it looked like flexed out a little
31:06bit and just late to the party that
31:08close to the goal line on the quick
31:10plays out on the out in the flat you
31:14got to be ready for those in terms
31:15of the anticipation will what's on
31:19for the point after
31:20and to be expected for a lot of
31:28these young players I mean the speed
31:30of this game that's the biggest
31:31difference you go to college to the
31:33NFL and it is just if the speed that
31:35everything happens and you've got to
31:38be able to make strides mentally and
31:39back to what Sala was saying
31:41earlier they don't want to see Nick
31:43Martin make that same mistake
31:44again right I mean that should be a
31:46learning moment for him there's CJ
31:50West the rookie from Indiana and we
31:52saw early today and did not get a
31:55chance to see Michael Williams the
31:57plan couch here and said initially
31:59was he was going to play hyper
32:01extended his knee at the joint
32:02practice on Thursday this the number
32:04eleven pick for the first rounder for
32:05the Niners and the good news is it
32:08sounds like Tim it's it's not serious
32:11so yeah to be back soon sounds like
32:12he's he's gonna be ready to go when
32:14it's it's real football maybe by the
32:16by the third preseason game but very
32:18excited for him and you always hear
32:20you know he's built to the right
32:21stuff I'm telling you this guy is a
32:2349er D lineman but it's interesting
32:26watching in practice sometimes he's on
32:27the edge sometimes it he's inside out
32:30and he's got some skill sets that are
32:32that are rare he is super long he is
32:34super powerful he looks like Alden
32:37Smith kind of in terms of just big
32:39heavy-handed long arms uses of these
32:41violent but when he moves inside and a
32:44lot of people won't like this
32:45comparison because he's a much smaller
32:46man but he rushes like Chris Jones he
32:50is of the Kansas City Chiefs he's got
32:52the swipes and the foot speed where he
32:55can win with a swipe and a shuffle he
32:57doesn't have to have body lean going
32:58forward all the time he can use those
33:00quick feet and that body control hand
33:03eye he can swipe those hands he's got
33:05the power to do it and can finish
33:07he's number 26 return team 10 yard
33:09penalty first down he is going to be a
33:12big part of of those ins you know the
33:14three technique the guy who's lined up
33:16over the guard and he's going to get
33:17one-on-ones with all the turn
33:19protection and the double teams that go
33:20to Bosa and he's going to win some of
33:24them I promise you
33:27so that D-line to you looks like Bosa
33:30Huff on the end Mike L Mike Allen and
33:33probably start Jordan Elliott on the
33:37inside 209 to go three timeouts here
33:40for Tanner Mordecai after the penalty
33:43on Chase Lucas Isaiah Hodgins can't
33:46hold on everything was perfect now I
33:49don't know if that ball got batted out
33:51but Hodgins got to the spot drove back to
33:54the football well time that's the best
33:56throw Mordecai has made puts it right
33:59between the one and the eight and
34:01unable to make the play
34:04Jayden Robinson and coverage that time
34:06we've seen a little bit we've seen not a
34:08little bit a lot a bit of 75 Connor
34:10Colby the rookie from Iowa he's playing
34:12at left guard for the 49ers tonight
34:19here's Watkins getting it out to him
34:20quick trying to go make a play right on
34:22his back is Garrett Nelson the second year
34:25man from Nebraska we hit the two-minute
34:27warning at 158 the two-minute warning
34:31less than two all and trying to end this
34:34one on a high note third down at seven
34:38here for Tanner Mordecai
34:4749ers first drive of the game was the
34:49best drive of the game
34:52Mordecai escapes the pocket and just
34:56throws it away on third down and
35:00presumably the 49ers will plump the
35:02midfield offenses walking back out
35:04there came with a five-man pressure
35:07Vance Joseph dialing it up and able to
35:09get Mordecai out of the pocket nobody
35:12uncovering in terms of the weapons out
35:14in the powder
35:16there's Ricky they see such a fun guy
35:23he is he is tell you he was a little
35:28bit of a late start with training camp
35:29they wanted to ramp him up he had to
35:31believe it was a hamstring but it's
35:33ramp up and roll because man he's got
35:37some ability Thomas Morstead with a
35:41high hanger
35:44and that is well covered by Derek
35:47can team with 140 to go here it's
35:51been fun to see although he's still
35:53working his way back Brandon I you
35:55back out at 49ers practice and
35:57often he'll be snapping the ball
35:59during a receiver drill or just
36:00being involved and he works his way
36:03back on that the other day and yeah
36:06that knee was obviously exploded in
36:08November it no setbacks he's doing
36:10good hopefully he's back sooner rather
36:12than later we know what a talent he
36:14is and same with Juwan Jennings and
36:16his calf strain and then all that's
36:18got to work out Brock Purdy will be a
36:21lot happier with those weapons back
36:22up there and doing their thing to go
36:24with Ricky and Pierce all and and some
36:27of the other guys but way I you the
36:29other day out there when Denver you
36:31could just see those juices were
36:32starting to flow for him he is he's
36:34got a competitive spirit love to see
36:37it Denver's gonna kneel this one out
36:40you know when you think back on what
36:43we saw tonight especially early in
36:45the game what stands out to you Tim
36:46well I think a lot of good things a
36:48lot of learning moments for sure but
36:50defensively to have mostly backups
36:53out there you know guys that are
36:55battling make this team guys that
36:56will be reserves and will play but
36:58will be reserves when the season
36:59gets here to go out there and and to
37:02get after that offense and to do a
37:05good job with the tackling some
37:06sure tackling and and look Sean
37:08Payton had all the starters out
37:09there and to force the safety chase
37:11Lucas was every was the best player
37:13on the field tonight in terms of
37:14his execution and being around the
37:16football made plays all over the
37:18place then the tackling started to
37:20fall off a little bit love to go
37:22route to Jordan Watkins against a
37:25starting nickel corner and pro
37:27football perfect throw from Mac 10
37:30Mac Jones to him for 50 yards big
37:33run for a touchdown by Patrick
37:35Taylor there was a lot of good
37:36things that the reserves were able
37:39to do early in this game against
37:40the Denver frontline players because
37:42you see afterwards we Amir
37:44Abdul hopefully he's okay how
37:45healthy do you come out of this
37:46game such a big deal and Kyle
37:49Shanahan and his group will regroup
37:53and then head off to Vegas next
37:55week the joint practice in
37:58preseason game number two with the
38:00Raiders Denver takes the first
38:04game of the preseason 30 to nine
38:06over the 49ers will come back and
38:07wrap it up from Levi's after this
38:10and we're going to come back and see
38:12this.
38:13We'll be right back and see you
38:15all in this.
