At a press briefing with Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA), Texas Democrats responded to Texas AG Ken Paxton's lawsuit.

00:00The Texas Reds, what's your reaction to your Attorney General suing you guys today or leaving the state?
00:06I mean, it just follows a long line of threats, right?
00:09I mean, we can tell they're desperate.
00:12I mean, they are throwing everything at us that they can.
00:14The loss of leadership, the financial ruin, the threats that they are putting out into their group.
00:19And then, of course, my colleague here, they have filed litigation to try to vacate seats.
00:23They are trying to overturn the will of the electorate before a time, as said,
00:29because they are afraid of the voters.
00:31Not only do they want to take out five congressional seats and steal them,
00:35they now want to take out the representatives that are actually standing up against them
00:39attempting to rig the next election cycle.
00:41Duly elected representatives out of Texas that have elected us to be here today
00:45to break quorum per our Constitution because we know the majority has gone off the rails.
00:50I'm State Representative Gina Inohos, and I'm one of the legislators in Texas
00:55who is facing a threat by our Attorney General to be removed.
00:59You should know, just two days ago, I checked in with my office.
01:02We had had 700 calls on this bill proposing a new map.
01:07It hasn't even been out a week for the public to see.
01:11Four were opposed.
01:13The rest were all in support of my breaking quorum.
01:16I'm doing exactly what my constituents want, and it is shameful for our governor
01:22or for our Attorney General to try to remove a duly elected representative of the people from office,
01:29but it is in keeping with what is happening in this grander scheme of these Trump maps
01:35to try to rig the 2026 midterms.
01:37The response to Governor Abbotson, he'll continue to call special sessions until he returns.
01:41So that's his decision?
01:42That's the benefit of who you elect for governor.
01:46We are breaking and doing everything we can to break this quorum.
01:49We have 137 at least.
01:52We are missing two more individuals out of Central Texas.
01:56We have been there for two weeks waiting to address that issue.
02:01They only put one bill up for us to debate in the House, and it was redistricting.
02:07We have an arrest warrant for us to go back to Texas for one bill only.
02:12They don't want us to come back for flooding.
02:14They are using those families as a distraction.
02:17The governor can write a check right now to try to start the process.
02:21And so it's his decision what's valuable to him.
02:25Does he want to have us come back and address flooding, to address the issue of school testing,
02:30to address human trafficking, to address the infrastructure in our courts?
02:33We will gladly show up.
02:35So you're going to find out, the people of Texas, who he plays for.
02:38Is he going to call us back for you, or is he going to call us back to do Trump's bidding?
02:42Are you prepared to stay up?
