00:00Well, I think that's the right direction of travel, but it's the direction of travel that the Conservatives set through legislation in 2014.
00:06This is the idea that you deport and then you have the appeals heard overseas rather than clogging up the system here.
00:13And I think that's the right thing to do.
00:15But it doesn't get away from the fact that at the heart of the government's policy,
00:19there is no true deterrent to stop people coming here illegally.
00:23And that is part of the problem, and that's why we've seen record numbers of people coming across the Channel, 25,000 this year.
