00:00:00The Indian skipper has done a tremendous job to get back there.
00:00:19Ridiculous running with two balls to go!
00:00:27What a joke!
00:00:30Very good evening to you today at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.
00:00:42Depending on which camp you're in, it was all about avoiding a banana skin
00:00:46or seizing an emerald green opportunity for an upset.
00:00:49Now, normally at this time we'd give you some teasers
00:00:51about what's coming up in the next two hours, not tonight.
00:00:54Instead, just settle back and enjoy the highlights of an outstanding game
00:00:58from Group B between England and Ireland.
00:01:00I'm delighted to say that in the studio with me tonight are Nick Knight
00:01:03and Michael Holding. We'll hear from them later.
00:01:05But now it's on with the action.
00:01:07First of all, where was the game played?
00:01:09Well, the answer to that was India.
00:01:10And it was played in Bengaluru down there in the south.
00:01:13And this was the stadium where, remember, England were involved
00:01:16in that pulsating tie with India on Sunday.
00:01:19Now, for both sides, this was a crucial game in Group B.
00:01:23England needed to win and win well to get their net run rate up
00:01:26because when it comes to qualifying for the quarterfinals,
00:01:28that could be very important.
00:01:30Ireland, of course, just wanted to get some points on the board
00:01:33after their defeat to Bangladesh, which was a bit of a disappointment for them.
00:01:36Well, the toss was won by Andrew Strauss, 34 today, by the way,
00:01:39and England decided to bat first.
00:01:42These were the two teams.
00:01:43England made one change, a fit-again broad, taking over from Ajmal Shahzad.
00:01:48But Ireland made two, all-round a Cusack, coming in for white,
00:01:51while reserve keeper batsman Gary Wilson played
00:01:54instead of the ill Andre Boater, which was a bit of a blow for the Irish
00:01:58because Boater is a key bowler for them normally.
00:02:01So England to bat first. Here's what happened.
00:02:09First runs for England.
00:02:14Good length as well.
00:02:17Boyd Rankin, Irish guys will know they need to pitch the ball up.
00:02:21To Strauss, they're a very experienced side.
00:02:24They've played a lot of cricket.
00:02:28We seam up to Peterson to start with,
00:02:31but interesting to see if Peterson gets on strike the other end,
00:02:34whether they open the bowling with George Dockrell,
00:02:36the left-arm spinner.
00:02:37He was practicing yesterday in the nets with a new ball.
00:02:40The captain said it was an option.
00:02:42Left-arm spin against Peterson, his nemesis.
00:02:46He needs a good score.
00:02:48He looked in fine touch against India, Kevin Peterson.
00:02:56He made 31 that day of 22 balls,
00:02:58so he was just beginning to get into his stride
00:03:01until Munaf Patel pulled off a stunning catch.
00:03:04Well, he'd like batting on the pitch if he gets in,
00:03:10because the ball will come on to the bat.
00:03:12A little more grass on the surface as opposed to the game on Sunday.
00:03:16The only problem is that I think Ireland, wherever possible,
00:03:19will try and take pace off.
00:03:20That's the way they play.
00:03:22Make it hard for the batsmen to hit.
00:03:24Peterson away.
00:03:30Should get two.
00:03:38Ireland will have to field well.
00:03:42That's what they usually do.
00:03:43They strangle, they choke.
00:03:46Play their cricket really tough.
00:03:48Pace off the ball, people diving round in the field,
00:03:51protect every single run.
00:03:53We saw how important one run was the other evening.
00:03:57Save one at half-past two.
00:03:59You might need it later.
00:04:00Like I mentioned, not a big crowd in here today,
00:04:16but this is the kind of ground even if half full,
00:04:19or one third full, it can be noisy.
00:04:21Good shot.
00:04:36Excellent timing and placement.
00:04:38And the first boundary of the England innings,
00:04:40it's seven for no loss.
00:04:42High class from Kevin Peterson.
00:04:45There was nothing wrong with the delivery.
00:04:47That's the change in level, the change of standard.
00:04:50Ball pitching way outside off stump, on the angle.
00:04:55Peterson so strong through there.
00:05:05So they've gone orthodox.
00:05:06They've gone their seamers up front,
00:05:08Johnston and Boyd Rankin.
00:05:11There is the option of bowling the left arm spinner.
00:05:13Pretty soon though, if Peterson gets in.
00:05:15One change for England.
00:05:17Broad has recovered from his illness.
00:05:19Lost a bit of weight though, Stuart Broad.
00:05:21He comes in.
00:05:22Shahzad goes out of the side.
00:05:25So a very similar balance.
00:05:27Broad, you would say, a slightly better batsman,
00:05:30but a useful six from Shahzad the other evening.
00:05:33It's two runs comfortably.
00:05:48Ravi, fair to say that England would have the longest line-up in the tournament.
00:05:53Back deep.
00:05:54We saw the other evening.
00:05:56Swan comes in, hit six.
00:05:57Bresnan comes in, hit six.
00:05:58Shahzad comes in, hit six.
00:06:00And Broad now, he's a very good player.
00:06:02No doubt about that.
00:06:04Chris Broad coming down.
00:06:05I beg your pardon.
00:06:06Stuart Broad coming down so low.
00:06:08Got a brilliant hundred at Lord's.
00:06:10Nastia.
00:06:11Nastia.
00:06:12So there is depth.
00:06:24Runs on the onside.
00:06:26This will run away to the boundary at square leg.
00:06:28Got a feel for Rankin here.
00:06:32He's bowled pretty well.
00:06:34He's bowled seven deliveries for eleven runs.
00:06:36That was a big inside edge from Kevin Peterson.
00:06:40Reminds me of Graham Gucci.
00:06:41He used to do this all the time.
00:06:45Try and hit down the ground inside edge.
00:06:48Bats are good.
00:06:49Outfields quick.
00:06:50Four runs.
00:06:51He can't believe it.
00:06:54And Gucci is here as batting coach.
00:06:56He must have spent some time with him, Kevin.
00:07:03Oh, that's the full face of the plate.
00:07:05Consecutive boundaries.
00:07:08He's announcing himself here, Kevin Peterson.
00:07:11Well, this is how he played against India on Sunday.
00:07:13He played some thrilling shots down the ground.
00:07:17Shows that the ball is coming on.
00:07:18You can see a little bit of grass on the pitch there.
00:07:21But it doesn't get any better than that.
00:07:23All you hope is it misses the stumps at the other end.
00:07:26It does.
00:07:27You get four.
00:07:28Onside.
00:07:29Edged.
00:07:30And he'll get four.
00:07:31He's flashed hard at it.
00:07:32Yeah, deserved four really.
00:07:33The captain had set a field to bowl straight.
00:07:34Man goes out on the leg side.
00:07:35Short mid-wicket.
00:07:36He just offered Strauss that little bit of width.
00:07:37There you go.
00:07:38Going away from him.
00:07:39And when you're in Nick and coming off a big 150, they go for four.
00:07:40Top edge.
00:07:41Now then, this should be out.
00:07:42Oh, it's carried all the way.
00:07:43Would you believe it for a long time?
00:07:44It looked as though that was going to be out, but Strauss picks up a six off.
00:07:45Coming off is腹.
00:07:46Well we've got a seven up.
00:07:47And he got out of gew whacked.
00:07:48And three if he looked at the end again.
00:07:50And the end of the goal was having to go.
00:07:51It was like, how are they going to be together?
00:07:52How can't go?
00:07:53Once this hit a kill.
00:07:54You're going to congratulations, okay?
00:07:5550, they go for four.
00:08:00Top edge, now then, this should be out.
00:08:03Oh, it's carried all the way, would you believe it?
00:08:05For a long time, it looks as though that was going to be out,
00:08:08but Strauss picks up a six, 34 for none.
00:08:1569 sixes in the tournament.
00:08:17Top edge one, this one.
00:08:18Again, Strauss, because he's going well, he's got runs, he gets lucky.
00:08:24Genuine top edge, man sets himself.
00:08:28And even the modern fielder on the boundary can't find a way of pulling that in.
00:08:32He's not been the luckiest of bowlers, Rankin.
00:08:36Could have easily had his first wicket there.
00:08:41Down, please!
00:08:43Good fielding, sharp fielding and a sharp return.
00:08:48And a good position for Pedersen, short mid-wicket.
00:08:52Run-saving position it.
00:08:53Cuts down the angle.
00:08:56Also a catching position.
00:08:58See how you cut down the angle there.
00:09:00If that man's at normal mid-wicket, a bit deeper, that's gone past him.
00:09:06You could almost have both your catches there for Pedersen if you wanted.
00:09:08You could move your slip to a second man in that position.
00:09:13Oh, it's a bad ball and Trent Johnson knows it.
00:09:2440 for none.
00:09:25There's a little shimmy from Kevin Pedersen that threw the bowler just as he was running in.
00:09:36Pedersen went leg side, bowler followed him.
00:09:38Too good to miss out there.
00:09:42Too good to miss out there.
00:09:46There is that shimmy, back into position.
00:09:49Driven firmly, but again straight to the fielder.
00:09:59So the missed field will allow him to scamper through and I think he's hurt himself here.
00:10:04That was a bad reaction.
00:10:06Kevin O'Brien, grabbing hold of his left knee and I think he's hurt.
00:10:16Kevin O'Brien, knee is a bit of a crucial issue.
00:10:21He went down very quickly.
00:10:23Yeah, he slid that back leg.
00:10:27And the knee's gone.
00:10:29That does not look good straight away.
00:10:36Kevin O'Brien there.
00:10:44Who went down heavily, grasped that knee immediately.
00:10:48And when you see a player going down, it immediately waved for the physio to come on.
00:10:51You fear the worst.
00:11:03I think he's going to try and soldier on.
00:11:06Looks like he's okay, thankfully.
00:11:16No slips.
00:11:17Man on the drive on the offside, man on the drive on the leg side.
00:11:21And beautifully played from Strauss.
00:11:23No slips.
00:11:25Of course, allows him to just play that glide and especially with the keeper up to the stumps.
00:11:29Get up!
00:11:36Peterson drives through the offside and outfield very, very fast here at Bangalore.
00:11:50Good shot.
00:11:51Really, really good shot.
00:11:52I think it was a slower ball and Peterson got it quickly.
00:11:55And he's pumped it all away for six.
00:11:57Out of their seats and why wouldn't you be?
00:12:08This makes it look so easy.
00:12:10Stands and delivers and uses all of that frame of six foot five.
00:12:14A little change of pace from Johnston.
00:12:18And went the journey.
00:12:20Nicely placed.
00:12:30It's 77 for Novick.
00:12:32You can find a gap, can't he?
00:12:44He goes to 50 with a very Peterson-like stroke.
00:12:47It's been told he hasn't had a half century for now seven months.
00:13:02Yeah, in Australia.
00:13:03And I think in Melbourne he made 70-odd in the first or second one day of them.
00:13:09But he wasn't opening on that occasion.
00:13:11It's a really long time since he made 100 and he's bound to have his eye on three figures today.
00:13:21It's 85 for no wicket.
00:13:28Yes!
00:13:31Well done, George Dockrell.
00:13:34Doing the simple thing well.
00:13:37And in the end, Andrew Strauss didn't have the patience to resist it.
00:13:41Oh, on his birthday.
00:13:46Thank you, Mo Menon.
00:13:47A statistician extraordinaire telling us the birthday it is.
00:13:50He's 34 today.
00:13:52And he's made 34.
00:13:54That's all he was due to get.
00:13:56So the first wicket down for England, and it is the skipper.
00:14:00He is gone for that.
00:14:02His birthday, 34.
00:14:07Jonathan Trott comes to the crease.
00:14:11Oh, great placement.
00:14:26It's like one of those action replays from the Ashes series.
00:14:30Just like that.
00:14:31Effortless, and just using a little bit of that skiddy pace from Mooney, and just puts it nicely behind point.
00:14:40And that's nicely placed, too.
00:14:53That's a heck of a start from Jonathan Trott.
00:14:59England's 100 arrives.
00:15:00It's only the 15th over of the innings.
00:15:02Power.
00:15:10Massive power.
00:15:17The name's Kevin Peterson, and the target today is 100.
00:15:20Oh, I have some of this.
00:15:25Straight out of the screws.
00:15:28Just stands, delivers, and watches, and doesn't bother to run.
00:15:32Paul!
00:15:41Paul Sterling is better known as an opening batsman.
00:15:45But it's no bad thing to take as much pace off the ball against Kevin Peterson.
00:15:49Really loop it.
00:15:51Really make him come after you.
00:15:52You wouldn't believe it, would you?
00:16:02The simplest of things.
00:16:06Peterson doesn't want to let an ordinary fella bowl, does he?
00:16:13Oh, I do believe it.
00:16:14An opening batsman comes on as a baller, and does for Kevin Peterson.
00:16:21Just takes a liberty here with the off-spinner.
00:16:25Tries to play an extravagant shot.
00:16:27It just pops up off glove or top edge of the bat.
00:16:30Wicketkeeper does the rest.
00:16:32Look at him, he's enjoyed that Paul Sterling.
00:16:34Kevin Peterson.
00:16:35Promising innings, played well.
00:16:3759 from 50, 111 for two.
00:16:44England, 111 for two.
00:16:46After 17 overs, in at four is Ian Bell in prime form against India.
00:16:50Played really well.
00:16:59Good effort in the deep there.
00:17:04Wilson, the man, pulling that back.
00:17:14Challenge for two here, and he will come back for two.
00:17:21That's good.
00:17:21It's good running.
00:17:28He's doing a pretty good job here.
00:17:31Sterling, three overs for just nine in a wicket.
00:17:34The reason he's doing a good job is that he often undercuts it.
00:17:37So he's actually doing the batsman on both edges.
00:17:40You've got just a genuine off-spinner.
00:17:42You know it's coming in all the time.
00:17:43You can tuck him away.
00:17:44But occasionally, he just bowls a little undercutter.
00:17:47And it goes past the outside edge.
00:17:52And he's bowled to his field.
00:17:55He's not given too much width.
00:17:56He's kept the ball up to the bat.
00:17:58He's not allowed the batsman to cut or pull.
00:18:08That goes off a thickish outside edge.
00:18:10And will race away to the boundary.
00:18:13And there's my point.
00:18:16Dazou on the outside edge as well.
00:18:19Slightly quicker slider delivery.
00:18:22Troc played for the turn, but it actually just goes on with the arm.
00:18:25Finds the edge.
00:18:27Could argue with the way that he's bowling.
00:18:29He deserves a slip in.
00:18:31One stool, chance of a run-out here.
00:18:44In the end, both batsmen make their grounds.
00:18:47Yeah, Bell was desperate for two.
00:18:51Two Warwickshire boys who know each other well.
00:18:53The moment Bell hit it said, yeah, I think two.
00:19:01The throw at first went to the keeper's end.
00:19:03And the keeper had two options.
00:19:05Try and take the bells off at Bell.
00:19:07Look at Trot here.
00:19:09He doesn't want to go.
00:19:10He's got his hand up.
00:19:12I think the throw to the bowl is end.
00:19:13And Trot was struggling.
00:19:14Yes, there was a chance there for Ireland because Trot was always looking for one.
00:19:33And if you see him running the first run, he was trotting along.
00:19:37Have a look here.
00:19:40He's not even bothered.
00:19:42Then he's watching the ball.
00:19:43And as Bell has almost lapped him.
00:19:51Tripped himself up, the keeper.
00:19:53He's trying to throw at the far end and he fell over the stumps.
00:19:57Doesn't help when you're throwing.
00:20:041.43 for two.
00:20:07Good shot.
00:20:20Chipped over the infield.
00:20:21One bounce over the rope.
00:20:23And the 1.50 comes up for England.
00:20:28Shows how good a pitch this is.
00:20:30And what a sweet player Ian Bell is.
00:20:32Doesn't try and overheat.
00:20:33He's just got to get it over mid on.
00:20:37Bola trying to take a little bit of pace off the ball.
00:20:41But Bell just waited and waited.
00:20:43Control chipped for four.
00:20:47Field comes up.
00:20:48I don't think we've taken the power play.
00:20:53This might just be the Irish captain putting a bit of pressure in, trying to change things.
00:20:59That didn't work.
00:21:01First delivery four.
00:21:02What did you make of that plan, Michael?
00:21:04Well, it happens all too rarely, doesn't it, that the fielding captains are proactive and almost force a batting plough play on the batting side.
00:21:14And we've seen occasionally that whilst a batting plough play is supposed to be an advantage to the batting side, it can often be a disadvantage because wickets fall.
00:21:21And that's what the Irish captain is trying to do now, he's trying to force Trot in particular, who is probably not as fluent as Ian Bell at hitting over the top, and to force him out of his comfort zone.
00:21:34He's timed that so sweetly.
00:21:46Said that Bell is beautiful at chipping the ball, well he just went through with a little bit more and timed it so well.
00:21:54Classic batting.
00:21:56From a beautiful player, a spin, look at that.
00:22:00Doesn't try and over hit it, it's not a massive ground, 76 metres.
00:22:04He really is a good player.
00:22:12Bell goes down the ground and just short of long on for a moment.
00:22:18It might have carried but it didn't and it's another boundary.
00:22:24So once again the Irish captain brings the fieldsmen in for Jonathan Trot, six of them inside the circle.
00:22:30Trot is not taking them on yet, he's happy just to pick that spot through square leg, that's where his get-out-of-jail shot is if you like.
00:22:41The shot that enables him to keep ticking the scoreboard over nicely.
00:22:45Well he gets runs doesn't he Jonathan Trot, you look at the board and 48 from 54.
00:22:50He's a busy player, always looking round the field, checking where, look at that, checking where the fielders are.
00:22:58Swept, and for four, another 50 for Jonathan Trot, the run machine keeps going.
00:23:1052 from 55 with five fours.
00:23:13Do you think that Fitness will be a major player as this tournament goes on?
00:23:39Well it's been interesting to watch the sides.
00:23:42I thought England were demonstrably a fitter side than India the other night here on Sunday.
00:23:51Australia and South Africa look fit sides.
00:23:55Obviously you'd expect the full-time professional sides if you like to be fitter and stronger than the part-time professionals who dominate the associate ranks.
00:24:05But I think fielding and fitness will be an issue for India as they go through the tournament.
00:24:14Squeezed off the bottom of the back.
00:24:17198 for two.
00:24:21A bit of damage there for Paul Stirling's figures.
00:24:24Nine coming from the overs, so good acceleration.
00:24:27England now going at six and over.
00:24:2817 overs of batting still to go for England, so they're in a commanding position.
00:24:41Helped it round and nicely too.
00:24:5218 fours now.
00:24:53England are just starting to push on.
00:24:57200 on the board, 202 for two.
00:25:06Warwick's teammates, of course.
00:25:09Grant Kinney and Ben and Jonathan Trott.
00:25:11And there's an England selector here, Ashley Giles, who is the head man at Warwickshire.
00:25:21Keeping an eye on a fair few players out there that he's involved with.
00:25:34Ian Bell brings up his 50.
00:25:36He really has become a complete batsman.
00:25:46He just dinks into the leg side.
00:25:48Moves on to 51 from 61.
00:25:56Partnership is 100.
00:25:57100 from 107 delivery, so there's acceleration there.
00:26:002.11 for two.
00:26:18Now, Moves just handed us a bit of paper that really means something.
00:26:22Jonathan Trott has joined Vivian Richards and Kevin Peterson
00:26:26as the two fastest, or the three fastest men now to 1,000 runs in one-day cricket.
00:26:32It's taken in 21 innings.
00:26:35Jonathan Trott with Vivian Richards and Kevin Peterson.
00:26:39It's all in the eye of the beholder.
00:26:42Well, he's been so consistent.
00:26:45Came into the England team, and he's just one of those players that gets his runs.
00:26:49He's a type of player, when you look at him, he's a greedy batsman.
00:26:57He just enjoys batting.
00:26:58Insatiable appetite for batting, and they talk about him being in his own space.
00:27:04Doesn't worry too much about anything else.
00:27:06We see him scoring his mark on the pitch.
00:27:09The fourth on the list is Gordon Greenwich.
00:27:18So, sandwiched in there between Vivian Richards, Kevin Peterson, and Gordon Greenwich
00:27:23is Jonathan Trott.
00:27:24Shows you there's lots of ways to skin a cat.
00:27:26It's also a big tick for the England selectors,
00:27:28because if you'd said 18 months ago, even,
00:27:31Jonathan Trott is going to be a key one-day cricketer for England,
00:27:36you'd have had a few doubters about the place.
00:27:38In the meantime, enjoy the stroke play of Ian Bell.
00:27:42It's 2-2-4 for two.
00:27:50Good! Good stroke!
00:27:59It's the game as we know it today.
00:28:01One-day cricket of 2011.
00:28:03A little do-si-do your partner.
00:28:08A little dance outside leg stump, and then total control.
00:28:12Get down and play a little flick.
00:28:14Not quite the Dilshan paddle up and over your head,
00:28:18but look at that.
00:28:19Miles outside off stump.
00:28:21New fine leg was up.
00:28:22And, well, there's a tall fine leg too, Rankin.
00:28:27Six-foot-seven got over him.
00:28:32And then something very pure and orthodox to follow.
00:28:36And even wily old Trent Johnson finding this a bit of a headache.
00:28:41Ian Bell's got everything.
00:28:42Johnson's in his seventh over.
00:28:43He's never gone for 43.
00:28:46He follows up
00:28:47the wild and the adventurous,
00:28:53which is that.
00:28:56And there's more and more of that sort of a shot.
00:28:58Danny just mentioned to the ground the Dilshan's ability
00:29:01to play strokes like that.
00:29:03Still, Bell always looks at his most attractive
00:29:09when he's playing in the more orthodox fashion.
00:29:13Quite a player.
00:29:142.33 for two.
00:29:22How's that for timing?
00:29:25Because that was not intentional.
00:29:26Not a bit of it.
00:29:27In fact, he was done by the lack of pace.
00:29:30It shoots off the face of the bat.
00:29:32And 2.50.
00:29:33Arrives for England.
00:29:40The captain's smiling about it.
00:29:41So he should be.
00:29:43Yeah, done for the lack of pace.
00:29:45But look at that.
00:29:45A lovely bit of timing and punch.
00:29:48Off this piece of willow there from Trot.
00:29:53Joyce had no chance.
00:29:58And that's a gem of a stroke.
00:30:00That's as good as anything throughout the whole innings.
00:30:0316 from the over.
00:30:062.57 for two.
00:30:07This is the problem that Cusack had.
00:30:15He pulled that wide down the league side because he was concerned about this sort of stroke play.
00:30:23On-off stump.
00:30:24If you get a bit straight, you go back down the ground.
00:30:26And then if you're a little bit too full, on-off stump, that's what happens.
00:30:39Wide signal.
00:30:40The 150 partnership comes up.
00:30:41This is a very good partnership from England's point of view.
00:30:46Spent some time in the middle.
00:30:48Got the runs.
00:30:48He knew exactly what he was doing.
00:30:59He was using the pace, getting it over the managed shot.
00:31:02Fine.
00:31:02Absolutely brilliant.
00:31:09He probably thought Johnson might go full here.
00:31:11There is.
00:31:12There's the little shimmy again.
00:31:14It was.
00:31:14It was nice and full for him.
00:31:16Went for a Yorker, Trent Johnston.
00:31:17Missed out.
00:31:18Just a fraction too full.
00:31:20And it allowed Bell to get underneath.
00:31:23Premeditated.
00:31:23And superbly executed.
00:31:37Seven off the over.
00:31:38274 for two.
00:31:44Gone.
00:31:45What a cracker.
00:31:46Oh, Bell can't believe it.
00:31:49Tried the Yorker.
00:31:50And it's a Sterling catch.
00:31:54Yes, it is a Sterling catch by Sterling.
00:31:58He just chipped it in the air.
00:32:00It went low.
00:32:02And he'll be very disappointed.
00:32:04He was trying to chip it into the gap on the onside.
00:32:07Or just go over the infield.
00:32:09Didn't quite get the elevation he was looking for.
00:32:12But a fine innings from Bell comes to an end.
00:32:15Mooney gets his man.
00:32:17He goes for 81.
00:32:18It's 278 for three.
00:32:19Paul Collingwood comes out to the middle.
00:32:27Well, he needs some runs under his belt.
00:32:31A little rusty in that last game against India as well.
00:32:33Lovely, lovely little deep touch from Jonathan Trott.
00:32:45That's beautifully played.
00:32:46Knew exactly what he was doing.
00:32:50Literally watching the ball run off the face of the blade.
00:32:53Played with soft hands.
00:32:58He got it away fine.
00:32:59Pressure on the bowler straight away.
00:33:01When you get a boundary of the first ball, you're back for a new spell.
00:33:04Michael, things are going to be planned as far as England is concerned.
00:33:19Absolutely.
00:33:19And certainly for Jonathan Trott, he's a remarkable cricketer.
00:33:23Not an eye-catching cricketer.
00:33:24You can't think of too many eye-catching strokes that he's played today.
00:33:28You can think of strokes that Bell has played and Pedersen.
00:33:34But the man who will top score is Jonathan Trott.
00:33:38And that's what his great strength is.
00:33:40He just gets runs in any conditions against any team, any situation.
00:33:45Seems to find a way of getting runs.
00:33:47He's got his game perfectly ordered.
00:33:49Knows exactly how he plays.
00:33:52And every time he comes to the crease, I was thinking back,
00:33:57I can only think of one innings at Johannesburg in a test match
00:34:00where he looks out of source.
00:34:04Oh dear.
00:34:06The commentator's curse.
00:34:0892 and gone.
00:34:11Yes, he was looking for the big one down the ground.
00:34:16He's batted so well.
00:34:17He's not done his reputation, any harm whatsoever with this innings.
00:34:27Missing it all together.
00:34:29Ball sneaking through between bat and pads.
00:34:31So Mooney gets his man.
00:34:33Fine innings from Trott comes to an end.
00:34:3592 of 92.
00:34:37It's 288 for four.
00:34:44Matt Pryor comes out to the middle.
00:34:46Now he can play a few shots.
00:34:47Gets hold of that.
00:34:54Attempted Yorker not coming out right.
00:34:57And a boundary to end the over.
00:34:59294 for four.
00:35:01It's a feature of Matt Pryor's game, actually.
00:35:03He's a very, very selfless cricketer.
00:35:06He doesn't take time to get himself in.
00:35:09A lot of players, even in this situation,
00:35:10would just take a few balls,
00:35:12look to get themselves off the mark.
00:35:15Pryor, none of that.
00:35:16He comes in, looks to get on with it straight away.
00:35:22Baldin.
00:35:25Had to be straight with his line.
00:35:27With the field he's got,
00:35:29and he's done exactly that, Johnson.
00:35:31Gets the wicket of Matt Pryor.
00:35:33And England now 2.99 for five.
00:35:47He was looking to give himself room
00:35:49and carve it away through points and backward points.
00:35:522.99 for five.
00:35:54Pryor gone for six.
00:36:00Tim Bresnan in at number seven.
00:36:03Big, strong man.
00:36:04Has plenty of ability and potential
00:36:06to clear the ropes in a situation like this.
00:36:09but with four overs left,
00:36:10England need to kick on.
00:36:20300 comes up, Miss Field.
00:36:30Big shot this time.
00:36:31Stand and deliver, Collingwood.
00:36:33Big one.
00:36:35That's the Collingwood way.
00:36:38And again,
00:36:38the Irish captain has got his fields right.
00:36:40He's had a good day today,
00:36:42but of course the field is only so big.
00:36:44And these days,
00:36:45the players are powerful.
00:36:47They use big bats.
00:36:49And the Raiders are occasionally
00:36:50just not big enough.
00:36:53I wonder if that's one of the biggies.
00:36:54It's up on the roof there.
00:36:55Collingwood again.
00:37:01Now has he got this?
00:37:03No.
00:37:05Straight to Kevin O'Brien.
00:37:07Collingwood looking for a repeat of the six.
00:37:09He perishes.
00:37:13Good wicket this for Ireland
00:37:14because Collingwood can be destructive
00:37:15in these situations.
00:37:19Just looking to do exactly the same thing,
00:37:22but just sliced it a fraction.
00:37:23And a huge hit of moments ago.
00:37:27This time it fell well short
00:37:29of the boundary edge
00:37:31and Collingwood has gone for 16.
00:37:32England 3-12 for six.
00:37:36Michael Yardy next in.
00:37:3913 from the previous over,
00:37:40but a wicket.
00:37:48Bowled in.
00:37:49Good bowling.
00:37:5050th wicket, Trent Johnston.
00:37:52Excellent bowling.
00:37:58This was an excellent slower ball.
00:38:02Michael Yardy swinging and missing
00:38:04through the stroke too soon, probably.
00:38:07Seen a lot of deliveries from Johnson
00:38:09held across the seam.
00:38:11This one was his off-cutter.
00:38:12Yardy's through the shot too soon.
00:38:14And a 50th wicket for Trent Johnson.
00:38:19First Irish bowler to get there.
00:38:203-17 for Seen.
00:38:24More order in now.
00:38:25And it's Graeme Swan.
00:38:26Long batting line-up this for England.
00:38:28In at number nine.
00:38:29Likes it there.
00:38:36Half volley pumped down the ground.
00:38:39I think this bounces before it
00:38:41gets to the screen.
00:38:43Four.
00:38:43Yeah, this was just put right in the slot
00:38:47by Mooney.
00:38:49Say to Graeme Swan,
00:38:50what do you want?
00:38:51Something just about there.
00:38:53It wasn't quite a full Yorker,
00:38:54so he could get under the ball
00:38:56and get some elevation.
00:38:57He also had a bit of width,
00:38:59or created the width,
00:39:00so he could get his hands through it.
00:39:01He gets it high in the air.
00:39:09Field has come round.
00:39:11Takes a catch.
00:39:14John Mooney finishes with four wickets.
00:39:17England finish on 3-27 for eight.
00:39:21It's a good effort, I would say.
00:39:23One from England,
00:39:24but also from Ireland.
00:39:26They've come back into the game.
00:39:27Nine runs off the last over.
00:39:29Yeah, good effort from England
00:39:30to get to that total.
00:39:31It's a formidable total,
00:39:33but as that boy was saying,
00:39:35Ireland have done well.
00:39:36It could have been more.
00:39:37It could have been as many
00:39:38as 340, 350 after the start
00:39:40that England got,
00:39:42and then that consolidation
00:39:43in the middle,
00:39:44but they could never quite get away
00:39:45from Ireland
00:39:46towards the end of the innings.
00:39:48So, well done to Trent Johnson
00:39:49and to John Mooney,
00:39:50who's finished with four for 63.
00:39:52His best figures
00:39:52in one day internationals.
00:39:543-27 for eight.
00:39:56Here's the final score.
00:40:00Well, it's probably being a bit picky,
00:40:01but England really should have
00:40:02got a few more.
00:40:03Their last five overs yielded
00:40:05only 33 for four wickets,
00:40:07and it meant that they just
00:40:08tailed away, rather,
00:40:09after that brilliant partnership
00:40:10between Trott and Bell
00:40:12of 167.
00:40:13Did Trott go for broke
00:40:15a bit too early?
00:40:16That's something that
00:40:17is worth talking about.
00:40:18But, as I say,
00:40:19being a bit picky,
00:40:203-27 for eight,
00:40:22as the boys out there
00:40:23in Bengaluru were saying,
00:40:24a formidable total.
00:40:25Now, what about
00:40:26the Ireland bowling figures?
00:40:27Let's have a quick look at them.
00:40:29Mooney was the main beneficiary
00:40:30of the collapse at the end
00:40:31as he ended up with four.
00:40:33Trent Johnson showed
00:40:34all his experience,
00:40:35while Sterling's 10 overs
00:40:36for 45,
00:40:38when you consider the flat
00:40:39that was flying around,
00:40:40that's a great effort
00:40:41under the circumstances.
00:40:43So, Ireland needed
00:40:443-28 to win,
00:40:45and coming up,
00:40:46one of the most exciting
00:40:4750 overs
00:40:47you could possibly wish to see.
00:40:50The Ireland run chase is next.
00:40:52Whatever you do,
00:40:53do not go away.
00:41:04England have won the toss.
00:41:05They've decided to bat for us.
00:41:07And what looks like,
00:41:08again,
00:41:09good batting conditions.
00:41:11Oh, beautiful play
00:41:13from Strauss.
00:41:16Power.
00:41:17Massive batting.
00:41:17Power.
00:41:19Good shot.
00:41:21He's timed that
00:41:22so sweetly.
00:41:25That's a gem of a stroke.
00:41:2992 and gone.
00:41:32Oh, there's some of this.
00:41:36Yes, England 327 for 8
00:41:38in there, Rovers,
00:41:39which is actually less
00:41:40than they got
00:41:40against India on Sunday.
00:41:42So, did that give England
00:41:43or rather Ireland hope
00:41:44as they went after the scalp
00:41:46that they really wanted?
00:41:47Well, here's what happened.
00:41:55Here he goes.
00:41:58Starts off in fine fashion.
00:41:59Just what he wanted.
00:42:01Bang on target.
00:42:02Good out swinger.
00:42:03That came back into the left-hander.
00:42:05And that can do his confidence
00:42:07a world of good.
00:42:07Well, he said there's nothing at all
00:42:12about this delivery.
00:42:13It's a loosener.
00:42:14It's full.
00:42:15It's wide of off stump.
00:42:19Porterfield
00:42:19somehow drags it back in.
00:42:22So unlucky for Ireland's captain,
00:42:25but a great start for Jimmy Anderson.
00:42:27Ireland are immediately
00:42:29one down.
00:42:36So, Ed Joyce comes out
00:42:37to the middle.
00:42:39Batting at number three.
00:42:41He's played for England
00:42:42in the last World Cup.
00:42:45He was in the squad.
00:42:46And now, he's up against Anderson.
00:42:50Wicked for Anderson
00:42:51with his first ball.
00:42:52Can that make a difference
00:42:53to his confidence?
00:42:55First runs on the board
00:42:59for Ireland.
00:43:01Choice off the mark.
00:43:08In the air.
00:43:09Safe.
00:43:11Goes the distance.
00:43:13Yes, using the pace abroad.
00:43:17Well, that's nice
00:43:18when you're an opening batsman
00:43:20and he can swivel like that
00:43:21to the bouncer.
00:43:25It's a good strike.
00:43:26He was looking to go straight.
00:43:28That gets the inside half
00:43:30of the bat
00:43:30and will get the boundary.
00:43:33But the intentions were clear.
00:43:34He wanted to go over the infield
00:43:36once he saw the ball pitched up.
00:43:42Yeah, just drifting
00:43:43a little bit straight.
00:43:45Actually, it was middle stump.
00:43:46I thought it was more middle
00:43:47and leg, so it was a better shot.
00:43:49Just chipped over the infield.
00:43:51This ball skidding on nicely
00:43:52like it did the other evening.
00:43:54You get good value
00:43:55for your shots.
00:44:00Oh, fine shot.
00:44:02He's picked up the length
00:44:03beautifully.
00:44:07Ten of the over.
00:44:08Twenty for one.
00:44:15That's in the air
00:44:16but in the gap as well.
00:44:17Went hard at it, Joyce.
00:44:18Gets his first boundary.
00:44:24Yeah, two men on the drive
00:44:26either side
00:44:27exactly for this reason.
00:44:31Batsman have to hit on the up.
00:44:33It's a one-day game
00:44:34and it went just past Strauss
00:44:36at short extra.
00:44:38Nicely timed.
00:44:41Nearly fell into the trap.
00:44:42Oh, he goes for it.
00:44:47What an opportunity
00:44:48to free his arms.
00:44:49One bounce over the rope.
00:44:53I'm just thinking
00:44:54was it a slower ball?
00:44:56Did he pick it?
00:44:57He's got raw talent,
00:45:01this young man.
00:45:02Yep, slower ball,
00:45:03cut up.
00:45:04And he was nearly
00:45:05through the shot.
00:45:07If it had been
00:45:07a fraction wider,
00:45:08I think that would have
00:45:09gone straight up in the air.
00:45:10But it was still
00:45:11just in his arc.
00:45:13He delayed
00:45:13and he clubbed it away
00:45:15for four.
00:45:24Oh, good timing.
00:45:26Just opening
00:45:27the face of the blade
00:45:28with the ball
00:45:28raised away.
00:45:31How good a pitch
00:45:32is this?
00:45:34Wonder why
00:45:34Jimmy Anderson's figures
00:45:35are expensive
00:45:36in India.
00:45:38Well, there's not
00:45:38a lot wrong
00:45:39with the delivery.
00:45:39A fraction wide
00:45:40opens the face
00:45:42and we'll have four.
00:45:44Great pitch.
00:45:45Quick outfield.
00:45:46Smallish ground.
00:45:47Nightmare for bowlers.
00:45:51That's gone away fine.
00:45:54Leg by signal.
00:45:56Just drifting
00:45:57onto the pads
00:45:58once again.
00:46:03Catch him.
00:46:04Good hit.
00:46:05Made just a bit of room.
00:46:08Subtle and quick
00:46:09use of the feet.
00:46:10A 50 partnership now.
00:46:12Good start this
00:46:13from Ireland.
00:46:14Nine overs gone.
00:46:15It's 53 for one.
00:46:20Heck of a stroke.
00:46:23Width.
00:46:23That's what's costing
00:46:24England here.
00:46:26Done goal there
00:46:27to a left-hander.
00:46:28Any left-hander really.
00:46:35Wide.
00:46:35In a one-day game
00:46:37in a one-day game
00:46:37with no slips in,
00:46:38batsmen are just going
00:46:39to throw their hands
00:46:40at the ball.
00:46:41All you need to do
00:46:42is find the placing.
00:46:44And the rest is history.
00:46:46Four more.
00:46:50Gets that.
00:46:51Nicely played.
00:46:52He shows his skill there.
00:46:53There's been a lot of
00:46:54aggression and muscle
00:46:56from Sterling,
00:46:57but that was delicate.
00:46:58Good.
00:46:58Good.
00:46:58Good.
00:46:58Good.
00:46:59Good.
00:46:59Good.
00:46:59Good.
00:46:59Good.
00:47:00Good.
00:47:00Good.
00:47:01Good.
00:47:01Good.
00:47:02Good.
00:47:02Good.
00:47:03Good.
00:47:03Good.
00:47:04Good.
00:47:04Good.
00:47:06Just rides a little bit
00:47:07of extra bounce
00:47:08from the cut put on
00:47:09the ball.
00:47:09Weights and weights.
00:47:12It's a much harder
00:47:12stroke to play
00:47:13when the cutter is bowled
00:47:15because there's less
00:47:15pace on it.
00:47:23This will be difficult
00:47:24for anybody to catch,
00:47:25but the man who has
00:47:26the chance
00:47:27does the job nicely.
00:47:29White ball
00:47:29against a black sky.
00:47:34looks like Kevin Peterson
00:47:39to me.
00:47:39He's got a very good pair
00:47:40of hands when he's in the deep.
00:47:46It was a very good catch
00:47:47off the splice of the bat.
00:47:49Nowhere near the middle.
00:47:50It went a long way up
00:47:51and Peterson's hands
00:47:53are really good.
00:47:55Catches like that
00:47:56very rarely do you see
00:47:57Peterson drop.
00:47:58So a shame for Ireland.
00:48:01Sterling's little cameo
00:48:02comes to an end.
00:48:03He's gone for 32
00:48:04off 28.
00:48:05It's 62 for two.
00:48:16Here's Nihil O'Brien
00:48:17coming in at number four
00:48:20to join Ed Joyce.
00:48:21The batsman cross
00:48:22so Ed's on strike.
00:48:27It's just
00:48:27Breslin's a strong man.
00:48:29There's a lot of extra
00:48:30bounce from him there.
00:48:31It's 62 for two.
00:48:37Should be caught.
00:48:38Oh, it's safe.
00:48:39Just in the middle
00:48:40of three of them.
00:48:42A little looper
00:48:43that even the springy
00:48:45James Anderson
00:48:45couldn't get to.
00:48:47Oh, comedy.
00:48:56Beaten for pace
00:48:57and neither the bowler
00:48:59Breslin
00:48:59or his pace bowling
00:49:01teammate Jimmy Anderson
00:49:02could get there.
00:49:06Oh, this one must be out.
00:49:08Matt Pryor
00:49:09difficult, difficult
00:49:10dropped.
00:49:12Went swirling
00:49:13underneath it.
00:49:14Those skies
00:49:15are never as easy
00:49:16as they look.
00:49:17Not the ones
00:49:17that go straight up
00:49:18in a periscope way
00:49:19and for a moment
00:49:20Pryor is back to it
00:49:22and then he was
00:49:23underneath it
00:49:23and then he was
00:49:23alongside it
00:49:24and then he dropped it.
00:49:25Well, he had to go backwards.
00:49:28There's enough
00:49:28of a thick edge
00:49:29that's carried it
00:49:30because of the extra
00:49:31pace of Breslin.
00:49:32He's swirling.
00:49:33It's gone back
00:49:33over his head
00:49:34in the hard hands
00:49:35because he hasn't been
00:49:36able to quite judge
00:49:37the pace of the ball
00:49:38coming down
00:49:39because it's nighttime,
00:49:41folks.
00:49:42No daylight,
00:49:42no cloud
00:49:43to judge the pace
00:49:44of the ball
00:49:45coming down.
00:49:4812 gone,
00:49:48that's 64 for two.
00:49:54Nice stroke
00:49:55but a man
00:49:56oh no,
00:49:57he's dropped it.
00:49:58Jimmy Anderson
00:49:59of all people.
00:50:01It seemed as easy
00:50:04as you like
00:50:04for him.
00:50:06He's a super catcher
00:50:08and he blew it.
00:50:09It's 76 for two.
00:50:10Well,
00:50:19it's happened again.
00:50:20I'm thinking back
00:50:20to the game
00:50:21in Nagpur
00:50:21against the Dutch
00:50:22and Anderson
00:50:23just looked at Peterson
00:50:24and left it
00:50:25and this is
00:50:26Jimmy Anderson again
00:50:27and it's
00:50:29Graham Swan
00:50:29bowling.
00:50:31Another day,
00:50:32he would have swallowed that.
00:50:34He's such a good athlete.
00:50:40some good fielding.
00:50:43It's Anderson again
00:50:44and the ball's following him.
00:50:53The ball is clubbed away
00:50:55by Niall O'Brien
00:50:57just keeping an eye
00:50:58on Jimmy Anderson
00:50:59who may just have hurt
00:51:00his back diving
00:51:01to stop the previous ball.
00:51:07Stand and deliver
00:51:08just opened up
00:51:09that front leg
00:51:10and opened up the hip.
00:51:11Tim Bresden
00:51:12didn't like him much
00:51:13and told him so.
00:51:15A nice little
00:51:15verbal joust there
00:51:16once that
00:51:18raced away for four.
00:51:20So,
00:51:21I'm intrigued
00:51:22as to what
00:51:22Tim Bresden
00:51:24is going to come up
00:51:25with next.
00:51:27Great little shot
00:51:28pumped away
00:51:29on the onside.
00:51:37He didn't like
00:51:38the previous
00:51:38delivery
00:51:40because there was
00:51:40nothing wrong
00:51:41with the delivery.
00:51:41It was a perfectly
00:51:42good ball
00:51:43that was just
00:51:43hacked away.
00:51:45But, I guess
00:51:46as a bowler
00:51:46in this competition,
00:51:47particularly on these
00:51:48pitches and in
00:51:49power playovers
00:51:50and that kind of thing,
00:51:51you've just got to
00:51:51accept that
00:51:52good balls
00:51:54will disappear
00:51:55occasionally.
00:51:55no need to run,
00:52:06it's gone very fine
00:52:07and this time
00:52:08it was a
00:52:09poor delivery
00:52:10from Bresden
00:52:11a little too short.
00:52:12very nicely played,
00:52:21it's gone very fine
00:52:22just for a couple.
00:52:24hundred on the board,
00:52:32hundred for two
00:52:33for Ireland.
00:52:35Still in this,
00:52:37going along
00:52:38at a decent rate
00:52:39of 5.17
00:52:41runs per over.
00:52:41Oh, there we go.
00:52:47huge hoik
00:52:49aim to leg
00:52:50and the frustration
00:52:51over for
00:52:51Graham Swan
00:52:52as he pegs back
00:52:54Niall O'Brien's
00:52:54leg stump.
00:52:55He didn't really
00:52:57need to do this,
00:52:58Niall O'Brien
00:52:5829 from 36,
00:53:00you can just
00:53:00work Swan around.
00:53:02I don't think
00:53:03there's any need
00:53:03for a massive
00:53:04hoik as you say.
00:53:06Maybe that he thinks
00:53:0729 is a decent
00:53:09score but there's
00:53:10Swan's first wicket,
00:53:12England's third.
00:53:16Nice little innings
00:53:17there but just
00:53:1829 from Niall O'Brien
00:53:19it's 103 for three.
00:53:25Gary Wilson
00:53:26replaces Niall O'Brien
00:53:27the rate now
00:53:29at seven and a half
00:53:30and over
00:53:30that Ireland need.
00:53:32It's a long chase
00:53:33a very difficult chase.
00:53:35They're 103 for three.
00:53:38England have done
00:53:39their best to bring
00:53:40them into the game
00:53:40with some fumbles
00:53:43and a couple of
00:53:43drop catches.
00:53:45They'll feel
00:53:46they're on target
00:53:47England,
00:53:47they've taken
00:53:47three wickets.
00:53:55What a beauty
00:53:59from Swan.
00:53:59Don't worry
00:54:00about the fielding
00:54:00when you can
00:54:01turn it like that.
00:54:03Outstanding.
00:54:06Prior involved
00:54:06behind the stumps
00:54:07but that was
00:54:08a beauty.
00:54:10And it's a good
00:54:10player.
00:54:12Ed Joyce
00:54:12goes walkabout.
00:54:14He thinks
00:54:14he's got this
00:54:15cover but the
00:54:15ball spins.
00:54:18Just a look
00:54:19back from Joyce.
00:54:20He's helpless
00:54:20down the pitch.
00:54:22Turns the screw
00:54:23for Graham Swan.
00:54:23He's got a couple
00:54:25now.
00:54:25Joyce 32,
00:54:26106 for four.
00:54:31Kevin O'Brien,
00:54:33new batsman,
00:54:33coming out at
00:54:34number six for
00:54:35Ireland and
00:54:35they've just
00:54:36hit a wall here
00:54:36thanks to the
00:54:38spin of Swan
00:54:39and the medium
00:54:40pace of Collingwood.
00:54:43103 for two
00:54:44has become
00:54:45106 for four.
00:54:48Tossed up again.
00:54:49He's bowling
00:54:49beautifully here,
00:54:50Swan.
00:54:51The Indian batsman
00:54:51got hold of him
00:54:52the other evening.
00:54:53But watch this
00:54:54dip.
00:54:56Beautifully dip
00:54:56and turn.
00:54:57Pryor just has to
00:54:58nip the bales off.
00:55:00Too good for Joyce.
00:55:03Edged away.
00:55:07New batsman,
00:55:08why not get a
00:55:08slip in?
00:55:09Why not attack
00:55:10with your best
00:55:10bowler bowling?
00:55:13It's a three-way
00:55:14thing, isn't it?
00:55:15It's the team plan.
00:55:16We see it so often,
00:55:17we cover England
00:55:18matches.
00:55:19It's the captain's
00:55:21decision, but also
00:55:22the bowler.
00:55:24Swan himself
00:55:25saying, hey,
00:55:26I want to slip
00:55:27in there.
00:55:32Oh!
00:55:34And they're stubborn,
00:55:34they don't change.
00:55:35We saw this again
00:55:36in Australia.
00:55:37Long discussion
00:55:47in the middle.
00:55:48Captain and
00:55:49spinner.
00:55:50I think I need
00:55:51a slip.
00:55:53Takes the man away
00:55:54from the sweep
00:55:56at 45.
00:55:57So it's going to be
00:55:58a very attacking line
00:55:59outside the off.
00:56:01Does give you a free
00:56:02sweep shot,
00:56:02paddle sweep.
00:56:03if Wilson wants
00:56:06to take that on.
00:56:08There you go,
00:56:09excellent bowling,
00:56:10especially with that
00:56:10open face.
00:56:12Strauss well in the
00:56:12game at slip.
00:56:14Definitely.
00:56:16A little bit of
00:56:17drift as well.
00:56:18You can see
00:56:18the spinning part
00:56:20on the ball
00:56:21by Graham Swann.
00:56:24Both the wicket
00:56:25keeper and slip
00:56:26are in this plant.
00:56:30They won
00:56:30another chat.
00:56:33suddenly notice
00:56:35that Paul Collingwood
00:56:35is hiding
00:56:36at mid-wicket.
00:56:39He's taken
00:56:39more catches
00:56:40off Swann
00:56:41than anyone else
00:56:41has been moved
00:56:42in there.
00:56:43There you go.
00:56:44You are hiding.
00:56:49Close if that's
00:56:50pad.
00:56:50Is it pad?
00:56:51Yes!
00:56:52Gone.
00:56:53Plum.
00:56:54Thinks about
00:56:55a review.
00:56:56Looks at his
00:56:57partner.
00:57:01Well,
00:57:01there's a debate
00:57:02and they've
00:57:04decided to
00:57:05review this.
00:57:06This looks
00:57:06straight.
00:57:07Usually are
00:57:08from Swann.
00:57:09Wicket to
00:57:09wicket.
00:57:11Billy Bowden
00:57:12gives the
00:57:13decision.
00:57:14We've gone
00:57:14to review.
00:57:16Well,
00:57:16the only thing
00:57:16I can think
00:57:17of is the
00:57:182.5 metre
00:57:19rule,
00:57:19really.
00:57:22Because he
00:57:22took so long,
00:57:23it couldn't
00:57:24have been
00:57:24inside edge.
00:57:25No.
00:57:27So the only
00:57:27thing is the
00:57:28distance.
00:57:29Remember the
00:57:30Ian Bell sweep
00:57:31from the other
00:57:31night.
00:57:34I think
00:57:34everything else
00:57:35is pretty much
00:57:36spot on.
00:57:36Yep.
00:57:37The only thing
00:57:38is going to be
00:57:38side on.
00:57:40How far?
00:57:42Well,
00:57:42because all are
00:57:43red.
00:57:44It should be
00:57:45out.
00:57:45Yep,
00:57:45that's close
00:57:46enough this
00:57:46time.
00:57:47So Wilson's
00:57:54gone for
00:57:54three.
00:57:55It's 111
00:57:56for five.
00:58:00Alex Cusack
00:58:01coming in at
00:58:02number seven
00:58:02and the
00:58:03Irish really
00:58:04succumbing to
00:58:05Swan here.
00:58:06He's bowled
00:58:06beautifully.
00:58:07They don't know
00:58:07whether to stick
00:58:08or twist and
00:58:09they've collapsed
00:58:10in a heap.
00:58:12103 for two,
00:58:13111 for five.
00:58:14It was the
00:58:16change in
00:58:17field that
00:58:17did it.
00:58:18No man on
00:58:18the 45.
00:58:20Went for the
00:58:21sweep shot.
00:58:22Now it'll be
00:58:22W Plum.
00:58:30Oh,
00:58:30down fell.
00:58:31Gets it past,
00:58:32extra cover.
00:58:33Should be
00:58:33two.
00:58:36Well,
00:58:36nice to feel
00:58:37bat on
00:58:37ball.
00:58:37Alex Cusack.
00:58:38Short ball.
00:58:47Didn't need to
00:58:48slog that.
00:58:49He just
00:58:49needed to
00:58:49pick it up
00:58:50on length.
00:58:51And O'Brien's
00:58:52done well.
00:58:55Reputation
00:58:56as a
00:58:56hitter.
00:58:59Again,
00:58:59he played
00:59:00well against
00:59:00Bangladesh.
00:59:01He hit the
00:59:01ball over
00:59:01extra cover.
00:59:02Some good
00:59:03shots.
00:59:08There's the shot
00:59:31that David
00:59:31Lloyd spoke
00:59:32about.
00:59:33He knows his
00:59:33cricket.
00:59:33David Lloyd
00:59:34loves the
00:59:36shot over
00:59:37extra cover
00:59:37and he
00:59:38delivers.
00:59:39And it's
00:59:39such a
00:59:40natural swing
00:59:40for him.
00:59:41He's hitting
00:59:41with the
00:59:42little bit
00:59:42of spin
00:59:43that there
00:59:43might be
00:59:44from
00:59:44Michael
00:59:44Yardy.
00:59:44But this
00:59:45is a
00:59:45natural
00:59:45shot
00:59:46for
00:59:46O'Brien.
00:59:52Here's
00:59:53a nice
00:59:53little
00:59:53heave.
00:59:54That'll
00:59:54go all
00:59:54the way.
00:59:55Oh,
00:59:56beautiful.
00:59:59It's the
01:00:00only way
01:00:00to go.
01:00:01He's a
01:00:01big,
01:00:02strong lad.
01:00:03And if
01:00:06you let
01:00:06Swan
01:00:06bowl to
01:00:07you,
01:00:07he'll
01:00:07be all
01:00:07over you.
01:00:12That's
01:00:13six.
01:00:14There's
01:00:14a
01:00:14milestone
01:00:14for
01:00:15O'Brien.
01:00:17The highest
01:00:17run getter
01:00:18in ODI
01:00:19cricket
01:00:19for
01:00:19Ireland.
01:00:20Going
01:00:20past
01:00:20Porterfield
01:00:21by just
01:00:23one run.
01:00:25Good
01:00:26stuff.
01:00:26What a
01:00:27way to
01:00:27get there.
01:00:28Hitting
01:00:28Swan
01:00:29over
01:00:29mid
01:00:29wicket
01:00:29for
01:00:30six.
01:00:33Classic
01:00:38longhand
01:00:39sort of
01:00:39stuff,
01:00:39wasn't it?
01:00:40Down
01:00:40on one
01:00:40knee.
01:00:42Strong
01:00:42fella.
01:00:43Yep.
01:00:44Hit
01:00:44with the
01:00:44tide.
01:00:46Nice
01:00:47and clean.
01:00:51Goes
01:00:52again.
01:00:53Same
01:00:54shot,
01:00:54same
01:00:54result.
01:00:56Take
01:00:57that
01:00:57Swan.
01:00:5715 from
01:00:58the
01:00:58over.
01:00:59138
01:00:59for
01:01:00five.
01:01:08It's
01:01:09a good
01:01:09shot.
01:01:09He's
01:01:10a clean
01:01:10striker
01:01:10of the
01:01:11ball.
01:01:11Yeah,
01:01:11ball
01:01:12will win.
01:01:15O'Brien's
01:01:16playing
01:01:16beautifully
01:01:17here.
01:01:22Goes
01:01:22fine.
01:01:23Man
01:01:24on the
01:01:24sweep
01:01:24had
01:01:25gone
01:01:25squarer
01:01:25so
01:01:26there's

01:01:28Good
01:01:28stuff
01:01:28from
01:01:28O'Brien.
01:01:29He
01:01:29moves
01:01:29to
01:01:2933.
01:01:32I've
01:01:32got to
01:01:32have a
01:01:32chuckle
01:01:33because
01:01:33Swan's
01:01:34flicked
01:01:34his arm
01:01:35up in
01:01:35disgust.
01:01:37I can't
01:01:37believe
01:01:37that.
01:01:38It's
01:01:38not a
01:01:39great
01:01:39line
01:01:39and
01:01:39it's
01:01:40darted
01:01:40in
01:01:40again.
01:01:42Brian's
01:01:42played
01:01:42this
01:01:43sweetly.
01:01:43He's
01:01:44given
01:01:46himself
01:01:46a little
01:01:47bit of
01:01:47room
01:01:47O'Brien
01:01:47and
01:01:48clipped
01:01:49it
01:01:49fine.
01:01:50It's
01:01:51the
01:01:51captain
01:01:51himself.
01:01:52He's
01:01:52saying
01:01:53I'm
01:01:53here.
01:01:54And
01:01:54now
01:01:55Swan's
01:01:56asking
01:01:56for him
01:01:56to go
01:01:56a little
01:01:57bit
01:01:57squarer.
01:01:58But

01:01:59sorry
01:01:59it's
01:01:59not a
01:01:59good

01:06:48he's shown

01:06:50courage
01:06:50out there
01:06:51four more
01:06:57right
01:06:59well there's
01:06:59massive change
01:07:00of balance
01:07:01to this
01:07:01whole
01:07:01match
01:07:02so much
01:07:03so that
01:07:03Ireland
01:07:04suddenly
01:07:04need
01:07:05131
01:07:06and have

01:07:20Kevin O'Brien
01:07:21it's 205 for
01:07:22five
01:07:23remarkable
01:07:26shot 38 runs
01:07:31now have come
01:07:31in the last
01:07:32three overs
01:07:32of this
01:07:33batting
01:07:33power play
01:07:34everything
01:07:40suddenly going
01:07:41Ireland's
01:07:41way
01:07:42very much
01:07:43making their
01:07:43own luck
01:07:44and this is
01:07:45100
01:07:46partnership
01:07:46arriving
01:07:4761 balls
01:07:50of tremendous
01:07:51dare and dash
01:07:52from the Irish
01:07:53and not a little
01:07:54good fortune
01:07:55on this
01:07:56occasion
01:07:56he's played
01:07:56some wonderful
01:07:57shots as
01:07:58Kevin O'Brien
01:07:59this wasn't
01:08:00necessarily
01:08:00one of them
01:08:01but it's
01:08:03the saying
01:08:03you make
01:08:04your luck
01:08:05100
01:08:08partnership
01:08:09from just
01:08:0961 balls
01:08:11O'Brien
01:08:12doing the
01:08:12lion's share
01:08:13that's another
01:08:15one
01:08:16and he
01:08:17poses after
01:08:18it
01:08:18holding his
01:08:19position
01:08:19as if to
01:08:21say to
01:08:21James
01:08:21Anderson
01:08:22I'm the
01:08:22boss out
01:08:23here
01:08:23buddy
01:08:23and he
01:08:25is
01:08:25if the
01:08:25shot
01:08:26before
01:08:26had a
01:08:26touch
01:08:27of good
01:08:27fortune
01:08:28well there
01:08:29was nothing
01:08:30lucky about
01:08:30this
01:08:31it was a
01:08:31half volley
01:08:32and it
01:08:32was drilled
01:08:32to the
01:08:33cover
01:08:33boundary
01:08:33no follow
01:08:35through
01:08:35but the
01:08:36pose
01:08:36for the
01:08:37cameras
01:08:38problem
01:08:42for
01:08:42Anderson
01:08:42is that
01:08:43he does
01:08:43put it
01:08:43in the
01:08:44slot
01:08:44when the
01:08:45charge
01:08:45is on
01:08:45he does
01:08:47yeah the
01:08:49dividing line
01:08:50between the
01:08:50perfect
01:08:50Yorker
01:08:51and the
01:08:53well-delivered
01:08:54bouncer
01:08:55whether a
01:08:55slower one
01:08:56or not
01:08:56and a bad
01:08:57ball
01:08:57in one day
01:08:58cricket
01:08:58it's minute
01:08:59there's really
01:09:00no margin
01:09:01less so now
01:09:03given the way
01:09:04that players
01:09:04manoeuvre
01:09:05around in the
01:09:06crease
01:09:06given perhaps
01:09:07that modern
01:09:08day players
01:09:08are stronger
01:09:09in their arms
01:09:10and wrists
01:09:10than players
01:09:11of the
01:09:11past
01:09:12and the
01:09:12bigger
01:09:13bats
01:09:13you often
01:09:14see what
01:09:15you assume
01:09:16to be
01:09:16almost
01:09:16perfect
01:09:17Yorkers
01:09:17whistling
01:09:18to the
01:09:18fence
01:09:18well
01:09:20this field
01:09:21with five
01:09:22people
01:09:22saving a
01:09:23single
01:09:23on the
01:09:23offside
01:09:24oh
01:09:25and a
01:09:25mixer
01:09:25a massive
01:09:26one
01:09:27a maximum
01:09:2917
01:09:31from the
01:09:32Anderson
01:09:32over
01:09:33go
01:09:34Ireland
01:09:34go
01:09:34well
01:09:36I reckon
01:09:37this is
01:09:38one of the
01:09:38biggest sixes
01:09:39in the
01:09:39tournament
01:09:39we saw
01:09:40Paul Collingwood
01:09:40hit one
01:09:41that our
01:09:42statistician
01:09:43said was
01:09:43the second
01:09:44biggest
01:09:44well I reckon
01:09:46that was
01:09:46bigger
01:09:47we'll wait
01:09:48and see
01:09:48but he's
01:09:49got that
01:09:50right out
01:09:50of the
01:09:51meat
01:09:51he's a
01:09:51strong
01:09:51lad
01:09:52and it's
01:09:53gone many
01:09:54a mile
01:09:54gets murdered
01:10:01through
01:10:01mid-off
01:10:02literally
01:10:0362 runs
01:10:08and five
01:10:09overs
01:10:09of power
01:10:10play
01:10:10cricket
01:10:10that
01:10:11Andrew
01:10:11Strauss
01:10:12his team
01:10:12will never
01:10:12forget
01:10:13nor for
01:10:14that matter
01:10:14the
01:10:17Ireland
01:10:17magnificent
01:10:21strike again
01:10:22one bounce
01:10:24over the rope
01:10:25there was a man
01:10:26in the deep
01:10:26but he's
01:10:28but he's got it
01:10:28away from him
01:10:29well this is
01:10:31great stuff
01:10:3291 from 79
01:10:34here's Michael
01:10:36Yardy out there
01:10:37now had he been
01:10:38on the fence
01:10:38this would have been
01:10:39a catch
01:10:39when it left the bat
01:10:41it looked as though
01:10:41it was going all
01:10:42the way for six
01:10:43and it landed
01:10:43beyond Yardy
01:10:45and inside the rope
01:10:47had Yardy been
01:10:48back on the edge
01:10:50of the boundary
01:10:51he would have taken
01:10:52this is massive
01:10:59this is one of the
01:11:01biggest sixes
01:11:02you'll see
01:11:02it's gone
01:11:03many a mile
01:11:04into the crowd
01:11:05and what
01:11:07entertainment
01:11:07this is
01:11:08another over
01:11:08that's
01:11:09Boston
01:11:09England 14
01:11:10243 for 5
01:11:12unbelievable stuff
01:11:14from Kevin O'Brien
01:11:15this is the innings
01:11:16of the tournament
01:11:16so far
01:11:17in many ways
01:11:19we've had brilliant
01:11:20innings from Tendulkar
01:11:21and Sawag
01:11:22and Strauss
01:11:22but in miniature
01:11:23this is as good
01:11:24as anything
01:11:25brought his team
01:11:28right back into the game
01:11:29he's providing
01:11:30tremendous entertainment
01:11:31for the crowd
01:11:32I'm not sure
01:11:33Ravi this went as far
01:11:34as the other one
01:11:34it certainly went higher
01:11:35that's up in the air
01:11:43two men coming
01:11:44underneath it
01:11:45and
01:11:47oh it's put down
01:11:49it's put down
01:11:50it was Andrew Strauss
01:11:53running for that catch
01:11:54one just got the feeling
01:11:55he had that under control
01:11:56it went down
01:11:59when he lost balance
01:12:00and went to ground
01:12:00so reprieve for
01:12:03Alan and O'Brien
01:12:04248 for 5
01:12:05well England have dropped
01:12:07some easy catches
01:12:08in this tournament
01:12:08this was not one of those
01:12:10Andrew Strauss had to make
01:12:11a lot of ground
01:12:12and he made it well
01:12:13and I thought he'd taken it
01:12:15in his hands
01:12:16tried to have a juggle
01:12:17with it
01:12:17and down it goes
01:12:19but he made a lot
01:12:19a lot of ground
01:12:20to get there
01:12:21by no means
01:12:22an easy catch
01:12:23here's Collingwood
01:12:28oh that's a big hit
01:12:33and will land safely
01:12:35and it's cleared the boundary
01:12:37Cusack getting into the act here
01:12:41I think the thing here to be looked at is
01:12:50the line of thinking of both these batsmen
01:12:54when they were 111 for 5
01:12:59or even 150 for 5
01:13:00the only thought in their mind
01:13:02would have been
01:13:02let's make a fight of this
01:13:04let's go for it
01:13:04now suddenly they realize
01:13:07or they will realize
01:13:08they have a chance
01:13:09to win this contest
01:13:10now that may just make you think differently
01:13:12make you do things different
01:13:15now can they hold their nerve
01:13:18it's O'Brien on strike
01:13:20hit straight back
01:13:23long on is just a spectator
01:13:26it's a magnificent strike
01:13:28once again
01:13:29takes him to 97
01:13:30it's the 150 run partnership
01:13:33263 for 5
01:13:35chipped away on the onside
01:13:40the call is due
01:13:41he should get there
01:13:42this is the fastest 100
01:13:45in World Cup history
01:13:466 fastest overall
01:13:49take a bow
01:13:50Kevin O'Brien
01:13:51150 balls
01:13:53what an amazing innings
01:13:56unbelievable
01:13:57it was Matty Hayden
01:14:01fastest World Cup 100
01:14:02it's now Kevin O'Brien
01:14:03look what it means to the Irish
01:14:05look what it means to their team
01:14:07what an innings
01:14:10can he see him home
01:14:12the most important equation
01:14:1356 from 54
01:14:16well this is unbelievable stuff
01:14:19well he can take a breather now
01:14:22only for a bit
01:14:24here goes Broad
01:14:30oh chance of a run out
01:14:34wrong end
01:14:35no he's gone
01:14:36well he's called for the third empire
01:14:39desperate drive there from Cusack
01:14:41but this is going to be touch and go
01:14:43well Cusack in the end did the right thing
01:14:46he realised that if anyone was going to be run out
01:14:49it had to be him
01:14:50there was probably a run there
01:14:51but he was sent back
01:14:52does the dive save him
01:14:54ball or bat
01:14:55I think ball wins
01:14:57big wicket
01:14:59Broad does well
01:15:01but Cusack also sacrifices himself
01:15:05he realised he had to get back
01:15:07umpire review should be given out
01:15:10162 these two added
01:15:14now Cusack has to depart
01:15:17so finally
01:15:18England get the breakthrough
01:15:20misunderstanding between O'Brien and Cusack
01:15:24and Cusack in the end sacrificing his wicket
01:15:26and Cusack in the end sacrificing his wicket
01:15:27but a really good hand from this man
01:15:3047 from 58
01:15:33yeah there was a run there because the man was on the edge
01:15:38he was not trying to save the single
01:15:39really clever innings from Cusack
01:15:43sacrifices himself for O'Brien
01:15:4547 from 58
01:15:47273 for 6 Ireland
01:15:4954 from 50 required Ireland
01:15:53John Mooney
01:15:54left-handed batsman
01:15:55what's he got in him
01:15:57it's a single again
01:16:04misses
01:16:05would have been tight
01:16:07coming back for two
01:16:08had to go for it
01:16:08Ian Bell
01:16:09England frustrated
01:16:12kicking the turf
01:16:14but he had to go for that
01:16:15small short ball
01:16:22got a goal for two here
01:16:24he's got a scamper here
01:16:25O'Brien
01:16:26gets there easily
01:16:27he's just starting to fatigue now
01:16:31he really is
01:16:32he's batted well
01:16:33but he was treading water for a while
01:16:36there's only one end to throw
01:16:37that's O'Brien's end
01:16:38outside eggs
01:16:42that'll do nicely for

01:17:35real damage
01:17:36to England
01:17:36316 for 6
01:17:38this is such clever batting
01:17:41unbelievable batting
01:17:44every last delivery of the over
01:17:46when they've needed a boundary
01:17:47Mooney has delivered
01:17:49great Yorker gets at least a single
01:17:56oh they're coming back for two
01:17:58oh this is close
01:18:01this is real close
01:18:02it's taken a dive
01:18:04O'Brien
01:18:04he might just make it
01:18:06Mum what do you think
01:18:07well O'Brien doesn't think so
01:18:09and the England boys don't
01:18:10he's taken forever to get up
01:18:13Pryor does really well there
01:18:15great take from Pryor
01:18:17brilliant take
01:18:18in front of the stumps
01:18:19bringing it down the stumps
01:18:21that's out as well
01:18:22England dealing in run outs
01:18:23terrific work from England
01:18:27absolutely at the edge
01:18:29on the brink
01:18:30what a disappointment
01:18:32but what an innings
01:18:33Kevin O'Brien
01:18:34a run out
01:18:42Resnan with the throw
01:18:43Pryor
01:18:44finished off
01:18:46what an innings
01:18:47one of the great
01:18:49World Cup innings
01:18:50well played young man
01:18:51113 from 63 deliveries
01:18:53yep
01:18:5463 deliveries
01:18:55317 for 7
01:18:57full from Broad
01:19:01driven into the offside
01:19:03he'll be at least two
01:19:04it's four
01:19:05well you can have your hands
01:19:09on your hips Stuart Broad
01:19:10you can look at the field up
01:19:12but that was a poor delivery
01:19:14first up to the new batsman
01:19:16low full toss
01:19:17just what he wanted
01:19:21he's been sitting there
01:19:22nervous as anything
01:19:23low full toss
01:19:24four runs
01:19:25in the length
01:19:32just lobbed
01:19:32and binked
01:19:33and pushed
01:19:34and cajoled
01:19:35and they've come back
01:19:36for two
01:19:36easy two
01:19:40player
01:19:40can't believe it
01:19:42three to win
01:19:45England looking to stop
01:19:50the single
01:19:51Anderson
01:19:51into the leg side
01:19:59this is it
01:20:00this is it
01:20:01this is it
01:20:02take a bow
01:20:04Ireland
01:20:04what a game of cricket
01:20:06England cannot believe it
01:20:07I can't believe it
01:20:08the same can't believe it
01:20:10terrific Ireland
01:20:12look at these scenes
01:20:13unbelievable scenes
01:20:17yeah yes
01:20:17well played
01:20:18throw your bat in the air
01:20:20throw your helmet away
01:20:21pick him up
01:20:22put him on the ground
01:20:23they've been brilliant
01:20:24absolutely outstanding
01:20:26they've outplayed England
01:20:29yeah tears
01:20:29all round the house
01:20:31it's unbelievable stuff
01:20:33from the Irish
01:20:33halfway through the innings
01:20:35111 for 5
01:20:37they were gone
01:20:38329 for 7
01:20:41they get the two points
01:20:43and they can't believe
01:20:45what they've witnessed
01:20:46here at Bangalore
01:20:47well it wasn't the luck
01:20:50of the Irish
01:20:51on this occasion
01:20:52it was the brilliance
01:20:53and that is the only word
01:20:54for it
01:20:54the brilliance
01:20:55of Kevin O'Brien
01:20:56and his 113 of 63 balls
01:20:58changed a game
01:20:59which was comfortably
01:21:00drifting England's way
01:21:01in the most extraordinary manner
01:21:02as you've heard
01:21:03it's the quickest
01:21:04hundred ever
01:21:05in the World Cup
01:21:05it was the biggest
01:21:06ever run chase
01:21:07in the World Cup
01:21:08and it has left
01:21:09England
01:21:10quite simply
01:21:11shell-shocked
01:21:11now once again
01:21:13they were less than
01:21:14average in the field
01:21:15they dropped catches
01:21:16they bowled
01:21:16some terrible lines
01:21:17and lengths
01:21:18and towards the end
01:21:19they look like the minnows
01:21:20not the big fish
01:21:22they'd like to think
01:21:22they are
01:21:23needless to say
01:21:24it's a day that'll go down
01:21:25as the greatest ever
01:21:26in Irish cricket history
01:21:28they may have ambushed
01:21:29Pakistan last World Cup
01:21:31on a helpful wicket
01:21:31in Jamaica
01:21:32but today
01:21:33they went toe-to-toe
01:21:34with England
01:21:35and they out-slugged them
01:21:36what does it all mean
01:21:38as far as the rest
01:21:39of the World Cup
01:21:39is concerned
01:21:40well England aren't out of it
01:21:41don't panic
01:21:42but they do need
01:21:43to start winning
01:21:43and Sunday against
01:21:44South Africa
01:21:45will be a good place
01:21:46to start
01:21:46for Ireland
01:21:47well their show
01:21:48is most definitely
01:21:49still on the road
01:21:50and their next victim
01:21:52that's the way
01:21:52they'll be viewing it
01:21:53could be India
01:21:54also on Sunday
01:21:56right let's hear
01:21:58from Bengaluru
01:21:59in a moment
01:22:00an elated Kevin O'Brien
01:22:01but first of all
01:22:02a dejected birthday boy
01:22:04here's Andrew Strauss
01:22:05we thought we'd done
01:22:07a reasonable job
01:22:07with the bat
01:22:08and we got Ireland
01:22:11at five down
01:22:11and things were looking
01:22:12pretty comfortable
01:22:13but we weren't reckoning
01:22:14on an outstanding
01:22:15innings from Kevin O'Brien
01:22:16it was pretty brutal
01:22:18and set us back
01:22:20pretty quickly
01:22:20and then
01:22:22they kept their heads
01:22:23at the end there
01:22:24and it's a bitterly
01:22:25disappointing defeat
01:22:26for us
01:22:27our World Cup
01:22:29dream's not over
01:22:29by any means
01:22:30we're going to have
01:22:30to bounce back
01:22:31very quickly
01:22:31and learn the lessons
01:22:33from this defeat
01:22:33we've obviously
01:22:35hemorrhaged runs
01:22:36far too often
01:22:36in all the games
01:22:37we've played
01:22:38you said things
01:22:39were looking
01:22:39comfortable for you
01:22:41at one point
01:22:41I think Ireland
01:22:42were 111 for five
01:22:43was there any sense
01:22:44of complacency
01:22:45then that crept in
01:22:46I don't think so
01:22:47I think just Kevin O'Brien
01:22:48came in and chanced his arm
01:22:49and he played very very well
01:22:51hit some great shots
01:22:52they took the power play
01:22:54that came off for them
01:22:55and you know
01:22:57it was a great performance
01:22:58from Ireland
01:22:58I'm not going to take anything
01:22:59away from them
01:22:59they thoroughly deserve
01:23:00their victory
01:23:01we've got to kind of go away
01:23:03lick our wounds
01:23:03and make sure we come back
01:23:04and play better
01:23:05first of all
01:23:05can you believe it
01:23:06not really to be honest
01:23:08I'm pretty speechless
01:23:09at the moment
01:23:10I don't think it's quite sunk in
01:23:11but to be honest
01:23:13it's probably one of the best
01:23:14innings I've ever played
01:23:15even since I've ever
01:23:17started playing cricket
01:23:17I mean it just came off
01:23:19I mean I was hitting the ball
01:23:19pretty well
01:23:20and I got away
01:23:21I got a little bit of luck
01:23:22and things went my way
01:23:23and I just kept going
01:23:25and kept attacking
01:23:25and it was our day
01:23:27you know
01:23:27it looked as though
01:23:29for a while
01:23:30you were just chancing your arm
01:23:31at 111 for five
01:23:32it was almost nothing to lose
01:23:34but it often happens
01:23:35as you get closer
01:23:36to the winning line
01:23:36that it becomes harder and harder
01:23:38do you get more and more nervous
01:23:39the closer you go
01:23:40yeah well
01:23:40when we were 111 for five
01:23:42I just said to myself
01:23:43I mean
01:23:43we could have just potted around
01:23:44and got 220 off
01:23:4550 overs you know
01:23:47for 8 or 9
01:23:47and the game would have been
01:23:49pretty boring to watch
01:23:50and it wouldn't have been
01:23:50I mean it wouldn't have been
01:23:52anything to watch on TV
01:23:53but I just chanced my arm
01:23:54I mean I just said
01:23:55I'm going to be as positive as I can
01:23:56and I got a few away
01:23:57and then didn't look back really
01:23:58I think taking the power play
01:23:59at 31 overs
01:24:01was crucial
01:24:01and I think we got 60 off it
01:24:03or something like that
01:24:04and then myself and Kusey
01:24:05then it really probably sank in
01:24:06we only needed maybe
01:24:07100 off 85 balls
01:24:09which is doable
01:24:10the wicket was extremely flat
01:24:12and the ground is small
01:24:13so yeah I mean
01:24:15we attacked and it came off
01:24:17you mentioned Kusey
01:24:18John Mooney as well
01:24:19played a great hand
01:24:20at the end there
01:24:21you're obviously the hero
01:24:22you win the man of the match
01:24:23but you probably couldn't have done it
01:24:24without that support
01:24:25no I don't think
01:24:26I mean it really was a truly
01:24:28a team effort
01:24:29you know we've got 21 guys here
01:24:30five or six management
01:24:32you know
01:24:32John Mooney stepped up the ball
01:24:34getting four for it
01:24:34and then a magnificent
01:24:3630 not out off
01:24:37probably 28 balls
01:24:38or something
01:24:38I mean we stuck at it in the field
01:24:40we didn't start again
01:24:41as we'd like with the ball
01:24:42but I mean
01:24:42we restricted them
01:24:44towards the end of the 15th
01:24:46through maybe
01:24:46into the early 20s
01:24:48late 20s
01:24:49I mean
01:24:49we kind of tried to peg them back
01:24:50with our spin
01:24:51and our medium paces
01:24:51you know what I mean
01:24:52and we restricted them
01:24:54to a target
01:24:55that I mean
01:24:55we felt that we could chase
01:24:57you know
01:24:57we saw the game there
01:24:58last week
01:24:59England and India
01:25:00and I mean
01:25:00it's a high scoring ground
01:25:01it's a great wicket
01:25:02should Bangalore watch out tonight
01:25:04will there be some
01:25:05legendary Irish celebrations
01:25:06I don't think so
01:25:07because the bars close at 11
01:25:08so I think there might be
01:25:10a few quiet beers
01:25:11and a few rooms
01:25:11in the hotel
01:25:12don't worry about that
