Ninety thousand runners have pounded the pavements of Sydney in the rain for the annual City2Surf fun run. For some it was all about setting a personal best. For others it was a chance to raise money for a cherished cause.

00:00The early starters were doing their best to stay warm and taking last minute precautions.
00:09Nervous because of the weather, but I'm doing okay otherwise, I'm ready for it.

00:16We're trying to raise awareness, so for me as a doctor and cancer patient,
00:20trying to push the field forward by increasing people's knowledge.
00:25Finally, they were off and running, with some enthusiastic supporters to cheer them on their way.

01:12At Bondi Beach, Adelaide runner Isaac Hayne was first across the finish line.
01:18Beating his winning time from last year by 17 seconds.
01:23Oh, man, I'm stoked. I'm also pretty gassed, but that's a hard course.
01:2821-year-old Bronte Oates from Sydney won the women's race just 43 seconds off the record time.
01:35I will be lying in bed the rest of the day. I'm so exhausted.
01:40Some had dressed up for the occasion.
01:43I think I'm going to need a shower before the 9 o'clock meeting anyway.
01:46Others were just glad to make it to the end.
