Nedd Brockmann runs 1,000 miles in 12 days, raising $2.5 million for charity

Ultramarathon runner Nedd Brockmann has completed his 1,000-mile charity run at Sydney Olympic Park, raising more than $2.5 million for homelessness services.

00:00Jubilation erupted shortly after 6 o'clock on an otherwise quiet and misty morning here

00:06at Sydney Olympic Park.

00:08After spending the last 12 and a half days running laps around the Athletic Centre, Ned

00:12Brockman crossed the finish line, having run over 1,600 kilometres.

00:17While he narrowly missed his goal of running the distance in 10 days, he was still met

00:21with plenty of cheers from friends and family.

00:24Mr Brockman's uncomfortable challenge has seen him raise almost double what he raised

00:28two years ago, when he ran from Perth to Sydney over the course of six weeks.

00:32As of this morning, the fundraiser has collected more than $2.5 million, which will go towards

00:37homelessness charity We Are Mobilise.

00:39Ned Brockman started out the event with injuries to his shins, and has since sustained damage

00:44to his shoulders, knees and feet.

00:46But with the achievement under his belt, he says he's keen for a shower and a well-deserved

00:50rest.
