00:02:25because all the talk is about the big announcement that Ric Flair will make here tonight live on this program.
00:02:31And Tony, the tone backstage in the locker room, the tone in the office this week of World Championship Wrestling,
00:02:38unlike anything we have ever seen associated with WCW.
00:02:42The serious nature of the announcement from the interim president, Ric Flair, is what we anticipate tonight.
00:02:48Yes, we are in the heart of Four Horsemen country, the perfect place for Flair's message.
00:02:53That big announcement is imminent.

00:23:12Psychosis, historically known as not only one of the top contenders, top five contenders to the cruiserweight, but also to the world television title as well.

00:23:26Ever since Psychosis arrived on the scene in WCW, he's been knocking on the door.
00:23:31So close to gaining his first WCW championship belt tonight may be the night.
00:23:37Well, I tell you, I mentioned the word confidence earlier.
00:23:39And that's something that Kidman's acquired a lot of lately.
00:23:42Confidence.
00:23:43So, I don't know.
00:23:45Confidence, you talk about people being on a roll.
00:23:47What puts you on a roll is confident.
00:23:49Oh, left-handed lariat.
00:23:50And a good one that time by Psychosis.
00:23:55And it's no coincidence that Kidman has gained that confidence
00:23:58and taken it to a three-month plus reign as cruiserweight champion ever since he disassociated himself with Raven and the flock.
00:24:05It's been almost like a new career, night and day, for the cruiserweight champ, Kidman.
00:24:09I don't think there's any question, and we've been talking a lot about confidence, how much it plays in our sport and how important it is.
00:24:16But I really think the number one factor, the number one attribute has to be perseverance.
00:24:22And that, of course, not only goes to wrestlers, but it goes any walk of life.
00:24:26But the wrestlers that have the heart, the tenacity, that can persevere like a Kidman, like a Rey Mysterio Jr.,
00:24:32are the ones that come out on top.
00:24:34Ric Flair would not have been a 13-time world champ had he not risen above the bad times in his career.
00:24:41But we often wonder, the bad time that he suffered in Oakland at the hands of his son may be the one moment he could not persevere over.
00:24:48Into the ropes, or actually into the apron, Kidman! Look at that!

00:25:45Yes, that's exactly what happened. The defense, when he let the man's momentum take him over the top, and then executed a move of his own.

00:25:54Well, I always like to use the defensive offense, because that means you set him up, you let the sucker make the first mistake, you hook him.
00:26:01It's very simple. It's the game of human chess.
00:26:04And you let your opponent commit to his strategy before you take over, and that's trouble up on top.
00:26:09I let him think he committed to his strategy.
00:26:12Ah, that's it.
00:26:13Which means you're on your defensive offense when he thinks you're on your offensive offense.
00:26:17Right here, Kidman better get on an offense.

00:27:37That's his guillotine leg drop when Kidman is across the apron.
00:27:41That could do a lot more serious damage than this caused you to lose a match.
00:27:46That could put your career on hold for a couple of weeks.
00:27:49This has been absolutely nonstop action in this cruiserweight title matchup.
00:27:54During the commercial break of the seesaw battle, the momentum shifting back and forth,
00:27:58but all of a sudden Psykosis is in the driver's seat as a result of his taking high risk moves.
00:28:04And in the crowd, the back body drop.

00:28:08Psykosis got Kidman.
00:28:09Kidman got Psykosis.
00:28:13He tried to suplex Kidman into the crowd, but Kidman floated over and answered with a close line.

00:28:25He's focused on his opponent.

00:28:34I tell you, Kidman's doing a great job of the same game plan the luchadors have.

00:39:50Obviously, not only the mask, but he's completely changed.
00:39:57He's got the jeans on now.
00:39:58Looks a little more hip.
00:40:00I like it, and I think he's a very fine looking young man.
00:40:03And I know, and the world knows what a competitor he is.
00:40:06Now, it's out of the frying pan into the proverbial fire here after a seven-footer like Big Sexy.
00:40:14Arguably, one of the quickest big men ever in 300-pound beast from the east.

00:40:21Bam Bam Bigelow, living legend.
00:40:23It's gonna be interesting.
00:40:24Last week, the man was seven foot tall.

00:40:31I know Bigelow likes to have that beast feast, but Rey Mysterio may just be an hors d'oeuvre.
00:40:39Not only is Bam Bam one of the biggest and one of the quickest,
00:40:43but there's been a lot of talk within the ranks of WCW, especially from Bigelow,
00:40:48from the newcomer named Hack, who's been most impressive,
00:40:51and from the return of Raven about who is extreme,
00:40:56who is hardcore, who will do anything, use anything it takes to win a match.
00:41:01And Bigelow, cut from that mold, certainly not only is he big,
00:41:04he's very dangerous, Mike.
00:41:06Well, it seems that those three men are out to prove something.
00:41:08Who is the king of hardcore?
00:41:11Between Raven, Hack, and Bam Bam Bigelow, I can't wait to see those three get it on.
00:41:16Meanwhile, it's Steel City, who'd build him all the way to Raleigh on that one.
00:41:22Yeah, he threw Mysterio around like a piece of paper, and I'm surprised Bigelow's not all over him.

00:41:31One would think that when you have Rey down, and you have the definite size advantage, that you take advantage of him.

00:41:40You'd think that, but again, after what happened last week, Bigelow's gotta be careful.

00:58:47The key to the winning streak for Jerry Flynn as of late has been the fact that he's been able to combine wrestling moves with his martial arts technique, putting it together for that package offensive attack.

01:02:33but the cat is going to need to add a lot more wrestling to his offensive arsenal and repertoire to be successful against the top stars of WCW.

01:03:03Speaking of martial arts backgrounds and karate fighters and tournament competition, Sonny Ohno has competed as well in tournament karate fighting.
