00:00There's so many folds.
00:01There's quite a lot of folds.
00:02Yeah, I'm folding the clothes.
00:05I'm folding in the situation.
00:07You know, if you've been me over and pouring me out,
00:09I'm folded.
00:11There's a lot of, it's a lot of folding here.
00:13And also I feel like it's kind of this story
00:16that's unfolding and things like that.
00:18And like, we're discovering all the layers
00:20within the relationship.
00:21I went to Miami with some of my friends
00:31who I write and produce with.
00:32We were like, literally went there
00:33to finish a song with another artist.
00:35Like that was the entire point of the trip.
00:37I was like, guys, he wants to finish it in person.
00:39We need to knock it out.
00:40Like, let's just go.
00:41Like that was the entire point.
00:42And then on like day three, after like working on that song,
00:45we like got a house, like a studio house.
00:47I don't really do well in like studios.
00:49Like the dark rooms and the, there's no windows.
00:52And I need to like take my shoes off and walk around.
00:55And they'll lay on the floor if I feel like.
00:56You go outside and catch, you know, some air.
00:58So I work really well in houses.
01:00So we got a studio house and invited a bunch of like,
01:04just my favorite producers ever actually.
01:06It's no big deal.
01:07Dre Harris who produced the song is like high key,
01:10the biggest legend ever in like my personal discography
01:13of like what kind of music shaped me.
01:15And he came and he played this beat.
01:19And I was like, hold it right there, partner.
01:21Give me that and send it to the other room
01:23where I was, you know, writing and singing.
01:25I just couldn't stop singing the,
01:27come pick up your clothes.
01:29And I just kept singing just that line over and over again.
01:32Don Mills came and put that little guitar,
01:34that little freaky.
01:37And it's just, the rest was history.
01:38It just kept, no pun intended, unfolding.
01:49The vulnerability is in not playing tough.
01:54I think that it's really easy to like walk away from something
01:58and be like, yeah, and I don't think about you ever.
02:00And that's cool.
02:01And I'ma just ignore it.
02:02And like, you don't mean anything to me,
02:04but it's a more vulnerable thing to be able to say, man,
02:06it's really silly of me to like act like this is not all
02:10that's like running through my mind right now.
02:11So we had to come out the gate and just be like,
02:13hey, sorry.
02:16Time to be honest.
02:27Yeah, I think I am a not fleeting feeler,
02:31but I think that like I feel things
02:34and also experience such a heightened amount of emotion
02:37that like sometimes my initial reaction
02:39is to just protect myself.
02:41It's like, I told you to fall back.
02:42I walked away.
02:43Like it's that initial protection wall that goes up.
02:46That's like, I'm doing this because I just need to go like,
02:49you know, handle myself and feel better.
02:51But even though I said that, and even though I did that,
02:54like what I really meant, what I really felt was that
02:56I'm just hurt, but like, I love you.
02:58I think the significance of them being folded is like, there's care in that.
03:13They're saying like, I'm actually not so pissed that I threw them out the window or I bleached them or I sold them on a website or anything like that.
03:22Like that was a gesture.
03:24That was almost like an olive branch.
03:25And that's kind of how it felt to me is it's like, I'm waving a little bit of a flag here,
03:29which means that I really, really, really care.
03:31Cause if I didn't care, yeah, Uber carrier, I'll get it dropped off.
03:36You know what I mean?
03:37I'll have somebody take it to your house, put it on the porch.
03:39It's just a little extension of like, Hey, I did a nice thing.
03:41Maybe let's talk.
03:42I might look really good when you get here.
03:44I don't know.
03:45We might have to, it might be a trap.
03:47Let's talk it out.
03:48I know that we're in an icy spot right now.
04:04Like I know like we're not good.
04:06Like we've been cold to each other.
04:08It's just been cold in general, but it's not frozen.
04:10Like it's not completely, you know, done.
04:12It's not iced.
04:13It's like, it's the same thing kind of as the door open line.
04:16Like it's this in between spot.
04:18That's just like, it's this, but it's not, you know, we might be here, but we're not done.
04:23Like there's something that we have to sort.
04:25And like, we're in that sticky, like achy little medium.
04:29That's like tension, but also like hope, but also like, it's painful.
04:35But like, you're still like, dang, I don't know, but I like want this, but I got to find out.
04:39And you really don't know until you see somebody in person.
04:43I'll let your body decide if this is good enough for ya.
04:47Already folding it for ya.
04:49Already folding up for ya.
04:51I'll let your body decide if this is good enough for ya.
04:55Already folding it for ya.
04:57Already folding up for ya.
04:59Well, there is another double entendre in that, in saying, I'll let your body decide.
05:04One, depends on, did we make some shake when you got there?
05:08But two, it's about that feeling of discernment that you have in your body.
05:12When you see someone and you have that conversation, like you'll feel it.
05:16Like, you know when you see someone and you just, your knees get weak and your stomach hurts and your heart flutters and you want to collapse a little bit.
05:22It's that feeling of like, I'll let that feeling that you have in your body decide, you know, if this is worth reopening and patching up.
05:31But on the flip side, it's also that little like sexy innuendo of like, yeah, if it feel good, fuck around.
05:38You know what I mean?
05:39No matter what you do to switch this story up, I know I made my mark.
05:46It's kind of a big absence when I leave and I feel like that's been my biggest thing is like, I'm a serial leaver.
05:51Like, if it is not working, if we are not making each other happy, if we are no longer upholding the standard of like, what was good.
05:58And if we're not being good to each other, then I will leave.
06:01I'm not like a second chance, third chance.
06:04Like, I know this song is saying, let's figure it out.
06:06But like, typically I will get up and I will go and I will say, you know, we'll be better in the long run because we chose something that was like, ultimately you prioritize how you feel.
06:15I've seen my absence be felt after I leave.
06:18I've seen, you know, what that looks like without me.
06:21And you know, God bless.
06:23God bless everyone involved.
06:25That's why, you know, maybe we should treat each other nicely.
06:30Make sure we love it here forever or something.
06:47It is flowers from my garden, but I think four still works.
06:51I think they're slightly different meanings, but they're of the same thing.
06:54What I'm saying is like, I don't need empty promises and I don't need meaningless gestures.
06:59I've seen the girl on TikTok be like, I did not feel that part when she said that because baby, I want roses.
07:03And I'm like, yes, we deserve flowers and I want flowers.
07:06But what I'm saying is I don't want some surface level gesture.
07:09At this point, we're at the point in the story where it's clearly gone really far and it's really deep and we're both hurting.
07:15And this, flowers are not going to fix this.
07:17What I need is something that's going to feed me and fuel me and myself to grow my own flowers.
07:22This has to be something that is essentially healthy so that it can bloom things.
07:27If this is going to be killing me, this is going to be a terrible thing that is poisoning me,
07:32my flowers in my garden are not going to grow.
07:34Don't you hate when it change?
07:53Don't you hate when the tides shift?
07:56And honestly, that I think speaks to why, you know, a lot of things haven't worked out for me here and there because things really do change.
08:03You know, I think people idealize people a lot and people will fall in love with the version that they saw on the internet.
08:10I think that's why dating is so interesting these days because people will have perceptions of you.
08:14I've dated people who at some point was like, yeah, I've listened to you for years and years and years and I'm like, dang, this is not a clean slate.
08:21Like you're getting to know me from a version that you have gotten to witness from afar for 10 years now.
08:27And I'm not, you know, the sliver that's the artist that people are aware of or a social media presence or an online figure.
08:34I'm a person.
08:35So I think my thing is people will always put their best foot forward in the beginning.
08:39That's just how it works.
08:40That's how it works in any facet of life, being a person.
08:43And it really takes commitment and loving what you have so much and choosing that person over and over and over again to be able to carry on something long in that way.
08:54So I think we've all been there where the tides just changed and you were like, dang, these just, you don't love me the same.
08:59And it's a really like harrowing feeling.
09:02This thing's so good.
09:07Well, people have taken that second hook and turned it into like a singer's challenge on the internet.
09:12And I'm just nerding out as a musician, like just about all the different tones and the different ways of singing it and the different ways people are approaching it.
09:18And I've seen people turn it into a gospel song.
09:20It has its own life as far as like the singers go.
09:23Go.
09:24Go.
09:25Go.
09:26Go.
09:27Go.
