00:00Hello, Allure.
00:01We are the Cost of the Buccaneers.
00:02Welcome to the set of season two.
00:04Come on.
00:05Come on.
00:06Come on.
00:12We are at Tintagel Castle right now,
00:14where the Duke and the Duchess reside.
00:17Yeah, we do a lot of carriage work here.
00:19And our horsemen work so hard.
00:21Good old David.
00:23He's great.
00:24Are we carrying on up here?
00:26Look at how fierce this is.
00:27This is to protect them from the rain
00:29and the way that, this is Mugler.
00:31This is Mugler.
00:32It kind of is.
00:34John Galliano.
00:34And you're kind of slang.
00:37There's about 10 pounds of padding on your booty.
00:39It's hefty.
00:40Truly.
00:41As you walk away, we look like a granny.
00:44Oh, it's like an old woman.
00:47It's hard to walk in these dresses.
00:50It is.
00:51I mean, I don't know why any woman would do this to themselves.
00:54Well, I think they were forced to, at the point of our show.
00:59Today, we're filming the scene where we all get to the finale ball.
01:03We're arriving to Nan's ball that she sent out invitations for.
01:07High stakes, a lot of drama.
01:09There's just been some big bombshell that was found out by Nan.
01:14It's giving du moi.
01:15Yeah.
01:16Very du moi.
01:21Okay, so we just got kicked out.
01:23They're filming.
01:24This is the Tintagel room.
01:26Many parties have happened here.
01:27Conchita had a very traumatizing, one of many traumatizing moments in this room.
01:32You think the Lord's uninterested in my iguana?
01:34Nor your snoring, nor your itchy head, nor your fear of children.
01:37Cora, why the sabotage?
01:38There were no thunderbolts.
01:40It's her first time trying to execute her plan of being a matchmaker.
01:44And her first client just completely sabotages it.
01:47And that happened in this very room.
01:49And there's a lot of men on the walls.
01:51Lot of men.
01:52Lot of portraits.
01:53Okay, let's carry on with the tour.
01:56Okay.
01:57Let's go.
01:58Where are we going?
02:00Hello.
02:01This is the staircase.
02:02Steeped in the street.
02:03And we're just casually walking down.
02:04We actually have a lot of time spent in this staircase.
02:09Josie slid down these stairs.
02:14One would say I tumbled.
02:16And got in trouble for it.
02:18I did.
02:19I sort of was yelled at falling.
02:21This is my mascara.
02:22It looks very green.
02:23It's got some black mesh.
02:25Lucy Rowley does my hair and makeup.
02:27She is just a gem.
02:29And we love our hair and makeup team.
02:31We love them.
02:32They are just heaven.
02:33I remember talking to Jenny, who's our designer this year, and being like,
02:37Mabel needs to get hotter.
02:39It's time for her to just be a bit sexier.
02:42Alicia always makes fun of me because I always end up with more makeup.
02:46Full beat.
02:47Full beat by the end of it.
02:48I always sneak in.
02:49I'm jealous.
02:50I'm jealous.
02:51Sneak in a lip liner or something.
02:53But now I don't have to sneak it as much anymore.
02:55Because I feel like they're giving it to us.
02:58This makeup look is by the wonderful Abby Richards.
03:01And it's very gothic.
03:02And you've got big hair.
03:03Oh, yeah.
03:04The hair as well.
03:05She does my hair as well.
03:06And I've got great big hair.
03:07That was the tour.
03:09Thanks, Hila.
03:10Woo!
03:11I'm Christine Frosef, and I play Nan St. George.
03:18Hi, I'm Jenny Rhodes-McLean, and I am the hair and makeup designer on Buccaneers Season 2.
03:23Today we're getting ready for the Masquerade Ball.
03:26Nan, obviously, in Season 1, I think we were going for more tomboy.
03:30She had short hair.
03:31She didn't want to be, I guess, what a woman was supposed to be.
03:36You know, she didn't want to embrace that feminine side of herself.
03:39But this time around, you know, she's a duchess now, so things have had to change.
03:43And Jenny's had great ideas of how that keeps evolving throughout.
03:48I think there's been, like, a natural evolution of Nan's look.
03:55And then I think there's also, like, Nan's so smart.
03:58She's now playing the game.
04:00She's now realizing that beauty can also mean power.
04:05She's using her beauty to kind of influence and do good in the world
04:09and help herself out over a couple of situations.
04:13I love sticking to period-correct silhouettes,
04:16but then having fun with the texture and having fun with the finer details.
04:23So as long as the silhouette feels period-correct,
04:26I like to kind of then play around with everything else.
04:28And then I love looking at family portraits.
04:33Oh, I didn't even know that.
04:35She does her research.
04:37You should have seen the, like, you should have seen the stack of books.
04:41What's really interesting about this show is that we're late Victorian,
04:45but you start to see some really cool Edwardian influences by the end of the season.
04:50And actually things changed such a lot between the Victorian period and the Edwardian period.
04:55The shapes of the hair change, the silhouettes change, there's softer waves.
04:59We've used that a lot in the show to kind of elevate the looks and see where fashion-forward characters are kind of heading.
05:06One of the things that is the most important as a skin prep is hydration and drinking water,
05:13which this girl is fantastic at.
05:15We love the agua.
05:17We both love to start our days with electrolytes.
05:19We do.
05:20With the same brand of electrolytes.
05:22Yeah.
05:23We knew we were going to be fine when we started, when we pulled out the same brand of electrolytes.
05:27That's when we knew.
05:28That's when we knew.
05:29Yeah.
05:30It was going to be okay.
05:31It's Element.
05:32Highly recommend.
05:33Not sponsored.
05:34Yeah.
05:35This is my favorite thing.
05:36This lights up the whole room.
05:38Yeah.
05:39This season I've used Cosas so much.
05:41Love Cosas.
05:42It is so beautiful, so buildable.
05:45I feel like it has kept everyone's skin so clean and clear.
05:49It's really hydrating.
05:51Yeah.
05:52I always break out and I haven't broken out once because of it.
05:55Yeah.
05:56I think it's, and it looks beautiful on camera as well.
05:58Oh, Flash Extender Mascara, I swear by.
06:01Love this mascara.
06:03Yeah.
06:04It's a tubing mascara and it's in brown, which is quite difficult to find.
06:08For filming as well, it just helps so much because they have to wear it for so long.
06:13And, you know, we have crying scenes, but sometimes waterproof mascara can be too harsh.
06:18We also need the ability for it to come on and off quite quickly.
06:22This is another favorite product.
06:25Which is, this one is in Greek, so.
06:30This is homeoplasmine.
06:32I want to say that I'm saying that right.
06:33It's my favorite lip balm of all time.
06:35But it's kind of like a medicated lip balm.
06:37It's so good, like it is so good for you.
06:39It's got kind of like healing properties in it and not just petroleum.
06:43I think the masquerade ball is actually my favorite look.
06:50It really shows her internal space.
06:55It's kind of also the complete opposite of her wedding look, which I think is really cool.
07:01She's so lost and scared, but she's also so strong and she's kind of letting out her fierceness.
07:07And it's kind of gothic and emo and I love it.
07:09And I love that Jenny was leaning into the emo aspects of it.
07:14Yeah.
07:15Like the dark lip.
07:16She goes through so much and I feel like she's always there for people and she kind of handles everything so well.
07:22But I think it's nice to see her tap into her dark energy.
07:28This season, for a multitude of reasons, we've gone longer.
07:32One, it was to show a time jump.
07:34We cut to by quite a few months.
07:37I think it was also to just show how Nan's grown and how her look's been elevated.
07:44This piece was made to minimize time in the chair, but also to make sure that the curls were Duchess perfect.
07:52And that we could set it off of Christine's head and also so that we could weave in these really delicate beads throughout.
08:02They're all stitched in.
08:04This hair is needed to kind of last for days and days on end.
08:08This piece gets individually set and then put in the wig oven for almost 12 hours so that these curls will be perfect for the whole day.
08:18Well, this is the finished look for the masquerade ball and this is actually my favorite look.
08:22This is Nan's darker side and she's ready for war.
08:26And I just love the energy and how it makes me feel.
08:30Well, I'm headed to set, so thank you so much, Allure.
