00:00What do you think the squad's got that it didn't have last year? Obviously you want some more, more firepower, but do you feel like you've added a bit more size and physicality to the group?
00:09Athleticism, good athleticism. The group, the squad, was an old squad in the Championship. In the negative, that is your physicality.
00:21At Dwayne's, of course it does, and at Dwayne's, of course it does, and drops. But with the change in personnel, we're losing a lot of relationships, we're losing a lot of know-how, if you get what I mean.
00:35So we are, it's sort of like starting again, and this is the first window of it, which is exciting and good, but we have to keep building. We've got to keep building.
00:43And some of the players we've added are really pleased with, if you're looking for like for like, and what they've added to the group.
00:50But again, it's untested at this level as well, so we have to make sure that they seize the opportunity and want to show how good they are at this level and win games, like I said, at the same time.
01:03Is Pottsy out? There's been a report he's got a strain.
01:06Yeah, I'm not saying he's out, but we'll see how he is.
01:10Is the Thompson injury severe enough to maybe look for another midfielder, or are you happy waiting for him to come back?
01:15I think I said after, I'd like another midfielder anyway, attacking midfielder, midfielder, centre-forward, attacking players.
01:23I think that's what we're after. That's what I'm after.
01:25We want, we, like I said, so when we were, like I said, we were, we had a run of games last season where we only had one nine in the squad.
01:36Or then we only had Millie and a meal.
01:40And it's difficult when you've only got two out and out nines to play two up top, because what's your change?
01:46Your change is always, not negative, but it's always a backward step in terms of having bodies and pace out the pitch.
01:51So that's a big thing we wanted to improve.
01:56And I want to keep adding to that, those options at the top of the pitch.
01:59And with that then, if you are dominant and you are on top, you need people who can capitalise on that.
02:06And having fresh strikers who can come off the bench is a big, big thing.
02:09Having players who, if you are on the ball in the opposition's half a lot, who are good one v one wide or will get delivery,
02:16we need to improve that.
02:19So it's, yeah, they're the things that performance-wise from last season are things that we thought we did well,
02:26but the areas we need to improve, they're two big areas.
02:28Are there any of those positions that is, like, number one?
02:31If we don't get that, I'll be really concerned, or do you think they're all vital to try and get the strike?
02:35They're vital, because, yeah, we want to be as strong and as good as we can be this season.
02:43Yeah, so in my eyes, they're all vital.
02:45So we want to, we could go and get bodies, do you know what I mean?
02:50But I want to get bodies that are going to help the XI, whether that's starting or from the bench,
02:54and really improve the quality.
02:56Like I said, happy with the stuff that we did, and they've all brought their own attributes to the group.
03:01But now we want more, we want that same thing, but higher up the pitch.
03:05Is there anything, like, far down the line at the moment?
03:07Yeah, I hope so, yeah, I hope so.
03:10With how difficult the permanent markets looked from the outside, are you having to look at loans?
03:15Yeah, loans, frees, not many frees now, loans, you know, and generally, like, the young talent dropping out of the Premier League starts to happen now onwards there.
03:26Coming back next, well, they're back from the tours now, their league starts next week.
03:32But even then, that can be even later, you know, going into when they've done all their business.
03:37Yeah, but it's a market that we need to look at, and we need to try and get some good young talent out of the Premier League, if we possibly can.
03:44How have you found looking overseas?
03:45Is it something that's been done much, and you've, for whatever reason, not been able to do it?
03:50Or, I think everything's been domestic, really?
03:52Yeah, loans are harder from abroad, you know, loans are harder.
03:58No frees that we saw that are dropping from abroad, do you know what I mean?
04:02We were happy with the frees that we did, with Dan, Jordan, you know, who were strong in the champ,
04:09then we capitalised on the one with Smudger coming out of Sheffield Wednesday, which we were really pleased about.
04:16Yeah, and then loans are difficult to do from abroad, unless it's someone looking to get a fee further down the line, do you know what I mean?
04:25And maybe a loan with an option or an obligation further down the line.
04:29It's tough, yeah, it's difficult, so, the, not easy ones to get hold of, because the competition's fierce,
04:37but the easy ones to do financially or just logistically are the local ones, where it's just all about someone going out,
04:45getting games, and then they're going back to the parent club.
04:47Do you have to get people out at the minute to get people in, or?
04:50Yeah, that bit, yeah, so at the minute it's frees and loans, and trying to stretch as much as we can,
04:58and push and push, obviously, like I said, that can change if people want to come and sign our players.
05:05At the minute I'm wanting bodies in, though, rather than out, do you know what I mean?
05:08So, if we did sell a player, for example, that's another two we need, because we need his replacement,
05:13as well as someone else I'm after, you know, so, yeah, it's, I want to be adding, not taking away from the group,
05:20like I said, and I'm clear in the positions that I want, and we need to be as aggressive as we possibly can,
05:28and as astute and brave as we possibly can to get them in.
05:33Are you not in a position to be making bids, then, permanently?
05:35No, not at the minute, yeah, frees and loans, yeah.
