00:00Hey, Zingers, it's Dan Leach, and I have a wonderful guest for you today.
00:05It is the Community Manager for BTCC Exchange, Jeremy.
00:09Jeremy, so great to be with you, my man.
00:11Hey, Dan. Nice to meet you, and thanks for having me.
00:15The honor and pleasure is all mine.
00:17Let's lean off here and give the great people out there an overview of BTCC Exchange.
00:23Sure. BTCC Exchange, we've been here since 2011, so that's actually quite a while ago.
00:29We have been here for 14 years, and that is when, say, Bitcoin was still a, I'd say a Starbucks coffee's worth.
00:42And that's pretty hard to imagine, right?
00:43Like, right now, it's way above the Starbucks coffee.
00:48And we've survived for four crypto winters, so that's actually quite impressive.
00:53We definitely have a lot more strength and focus a lot more on the perpetuals slash futures trading side of the business.
01:05And that's one of our main, say, topics, one of our main points that we always try to promote.
01:13So, and last but not least, we've been here for 14 years with no security breaches and no insolvency issues.
01:22So, we're probably one of the best exchanges out there to boast our security record.
01:30So, hope that gives a bit of context for what BTCC is.
01:35And, yeah, back to you, Dan.
01:37No, it sure does, especially, as you mentioned, the four crypto winters and all the issues that people have had in security.
01:43The fact that you guys are still alive and kicking in a highway is pretty impressive.
01:48And as you alluded to, I know BTCC, definitely one of the world's longest-serving cryptocurrency exchanges.
01:53You mentioned it turning 14 this month.
01:55Yep.
01:56Jeremy, what is your superpower?
01:58What has enabled BTCC to thrive in an environment, as you talked about as well, barred by bankruptcies, closures, security issues?
02:06What is the superpower, my man?
02:09Yeah.
02:09So, I understand we have quite an impressive track record on that note.
02:16And I'd say for the 14 years, we have provided one of the top securities that we try to promote, right?
02:26So, we understand that there's a lot of past experiences where a lot of exchanges, they fail to provide the most core element of the exchange, right?
02:39People want to deposit onto exchanges, they want to trade on exchanges for the ease of access, right?
02:47Crypto is hard to understand for a lot of people.
02:50And having it a, you know, very dumbed-down version of trading is very attractive for a lot of crypto users.
02:59And on that note, a lot of exchanges, they really fail to capture that the user experience, as well as the security, is one of the most important things that we want to promote.
03:12And I think a lot of other exchanges should also focus on, right?
03:16So, we, yeah, definitely.
03:19And for a lot of our features, we have tried to really refine and to carefully manage these features to ensure that security is the top thing, right?
03:33I understand we might not have all the features that all other exchanges provide, but what we have is battle-tested and trial and error for all of our features.
03:47So, nothing is going out of the line where, oh, this new feature that we're trying to rush out is going to have some security issues or security concerns.
03:59No, we have none of that, right?
04:01We always try to make sure that everything is tested, everything is secure before we push everything out, and that users have the best experience right off the bat.
04:12Well, it's amazing, and that's obviously why you guys have been so successful and lasted this long.
04:16And, you know, like we said, 14 years is no joke, and you're celebrating your 14-year in operation.
04:20Tell us, Jeremy, about that 14 years of Momentum badge, and will users be able to unlock any more perks by following BTCC at X?
04:28Yes.
04:30I want some perks.
04:30Not just following, not just following, right?
04:33There's a lot to this event that we're happening, right?
04:37So, for this 14-year anniversary, just a bit, you know, rewind of what happened.
04:44Since the start of June, we have had a trading competition that we ran purely on X slash Twitter.
04:54I'll keep using X over the course of our conversation, but on X, we invited two guests, Joey Moose and Greeny Trades, both on X.
05:06They are some well-known individuals in the crypto space, also co-hosted by Whale, Whale Swoosh.
05:14Probably leave the links if you're ever interested about what happened, but it was a trading competition between Moose and Greeny to try out the platform.
05:26It's their first time trying out the platform.
05:28It was also Moose's first time trading futures slash leverage trading.
05:34And that was interesting because Greeny has been a very experienced leverage trader versus a really inexperienced and first-time trader, Moose.
05:45So, they did have a competition, it ran for a week, and it actually concluded just yesterday with Greeny coming out by, they started off with 5,000.
05:59So, Greeny came off with nearly 5,000.
06:04He ran it back on the last day, and Moose was unfortunately down half of his portfolio.
06:10So, unfortunate, but it is what it is.
06:17And, yeah, that was the first part of our 14-year celebration.
06:21And the second part is what you just mentioned.
06:24We have a new reward system that we're introducing on BDCC.
06:29The badge system is our new form of rewarding users who would love to interact with us, who'd love to join us and use the platform frequently.
06:41We are introducing our first badge.
06:44That would be the 14-year anniversary momentum badge.
06:47And in the future, there will be a lot more badges to come.
06:51Like, say, just as an example, right?
06:54Christmas, we might have a Christmas badge, right?
06:57Just any sort of events, any sort of holidays, we'd love to push on more badges.
07:01And these badges come with, first off, an immediate reward, right?
07:07You're always going to be rewarded for anything you'd work with us.
07:10And we'd love to give back to our community.
07:14So, that's the first thing.
07:15It always comes with a reward.
07:16But on top of that, we have a lot more features planned for BDCC on a lot more community-sided, okay?
07:27It's going to be slowly...
07:29It's slowly going to become, okay?
07:31It's not immediate.
07:32It's slowly going to become a staple in our core ecosystem where we're trying to promote more social...
07:40More social-able aspects, not just the social side, right?
07:45Social-able aspects where we want to make sure that we're implementing, first off, AI in our platform.
07:53I understand there's a lot more AI stuff that a lot of other exchanges are working on already.
07:59And we'd love to have more community-based AI features where it's giving actual market insights as well as personal insights on trading.
08:10So, that's a little teaser for you guys.
08:13I love it.
08:13That's a little teaser.
08:14Yeah, for sure.
08:16For sure.
08:16Jeremy, the community aspect thing is obviously such an important part, too.
08:20So, it's really cool that you're doing it.
08:21I love that you guys have that trading contest, too.
08:24I wanted to talk to you about this.
08:25First quarter trading volume, I know, reached a just ridiculous $815 billion with a 71% surge in futures trading.
08:33What is behind that incredible growth?
08:36And are you seeing more of the same in this current quarter?
08:38There is so much volatility in the market, right?
08:44We see, just within this year, right?
08:48Bitcoin breaking an all-time high.
08:50We see a lot of new products, a lot of new projects, so on and so forth, right?
08:55Just plenty of market volatility, plenty of people trading and trying to capture these opportunities.
09:02That's the main thing on a lot of this growth, right?
09:05I'm sure we're not the only exchange out there or not the only project out there that's growing and having a lot more trading volume on top of that.
09:13But just to take a step back, right?
09:17Just to take a step back, how we sort of got to here was with everyone in BTCC and willing to support us along the way, right?
09:26We are looking for a lot more in the future.
09:30We're not just saying, hey, we can support you in this volatile market, but when it's down, we're also here for you, right?
09:39And the community is always here to support, our team is always here to support all our users and to make this community grow and to ensure that everyone has a place to trade crypto.
09:52I think that's very important, right?
09:53A lot of different projects come and go, you know, a lot of trends come and go, but we're always here to support all our traders.
10:01We're always here to support anyone who would love to try out trading in general, right?
10:07And I think that's the main point where we're looking for a huge amount of growth in the coming years.
10:14I can say this, right?
10:15Because we've been here for 14 years.
10:18So I can say this.
10:19I can ensure you that we're here for a lot more years.
10:22It's just that the main idea is, are you here with us for a lot more years?
10:28Hey, listen, it's BTCC for life, Jeremy.
10:31That's the way to do it.
10:32Indeed.
10:33Jeremy, are you seeing any difficulties when you're trying to onboard new users?
10:37Is it going to BTCC or do any of that?
10:40Yeah, yeah, yeah.
10:41I think that's one of the pain points where we've been here for so long, but it's like everyone in crypto is always chasing for the new thing, right?
10:54They're always chasing for the new trend.
10:56They just say, hey, there's this new project.
10:59I got to chase this.
11:00And once that sort of, quote unquote, dies down, they go on to the next.
11:05They try to find the next big opportunity.
11:07Obviously, there's no issues with that.
11:09It's just that there's so much that happens in crypto.
11:14A year is like, you know, such a long time.
11:17We've been here for 14 years and we're always trying to make sure that we have the best onboarding experience where you're not just coming in here for a trend.
11:27You're not just coming in here for one or two trades.
11:30You're here for a longer time and you're here for us for as long as you want to use BTCC, right?
11:38So the first part I want to cover is that I feel like there's a lot more scams that is way more sophisticated nowadays, especially where we want you to put money in us and then they sort of manipulate you and say, hey, this money, you can stay with us.
12:01It's very safe.
12:03You get to withdraw.
12:04You get to whatever, right?
12:06That's the sort of scam that's always scammers are trying to work around and make it more hard for you to feel like it's a scam.
12:14So the first part, we're always trying to make sure that we can separate ourselves away from all the scams.
12:24So on that note, we have our X.
12:28So our Twitter, as I mentioned earlier, X is our only handle.
12:34BTCC exchange is our only handle.
12:36Right.
12:36We're always there.
12:38Basically 24-7.
12:41I also help out on the account.
12:45So if you ever want to reach out for verification, we're always there for you.
12:51Right.
12:51That's awesome.
12:52If you need a gateway for messaging us or to collaborate with us, anything, X is always there for you as a first, say, entry to reaching out to us.
13:06Right.
13:06So you're never going to get scammed with us because you can always get back to us and we will always get back to you.
13:13Right.
13:13And on the other hand, there's always the support issues.
13:17Right.
13:18I think new users are always very, like they struggle a lot.
13:24Right.
13:24They struggle a lot with support because they feel like, oh, support is only there for these model answers.
13:31They have a set amount of, say, oh, if they ask you this question, you got to answer that question with this answer.
13:40You know, it's very, it's a very boring kind of job.
13:43And people feel like support is always that.
13:46Right.
13:46That's just, that's just how it is.
13:48And, and we don't want to provide that.
13:51Right.
13:51We don't want to be stereotypical.
13:53And we always want to step up our game to provide the best support for people who needs the support.
13:59Right.
14:00So first off, our support team is always there for you on the website and is always there for you on the discord server.
14:08So there's always two places where you can contact our support and they're always there for you to help.
14:14We've recently even helped out an error.
14:18So just an example, right.
14:19On discord, someone was, um, putting out a bunch of messages and being like, oh, there's like an error I encountered and, uh, I need help from BTC to support.
14:31Literally the next morning I checked his message.
14:34He was like, thank you so much for BTC to support for getting back to me.
14:38And, uh, I got this issue resolved, blah, blah, blah.
14:40He literally like 180 just throughout the night.
14:44So we're always there for you on the support.
14:46And I hope these two main points will help, you know, the onboarding of new users, uh, make us more unique compared to other places.
14:56Right.
14:57Because we're all, we're always there for you.
14:59No, no.
15:00It's not just about, you know, being unique, but you're making people feel very safe, as you mentioned, with a lot of different going on and security stuff.
15:08And I wanted to ask you this before I let you go about, I know, you know, you added some great user protections, uh, during the first quarter, which is another way you guys are helping people feel safe.
15:16About what's going on at BTC safe.
15:20Yeah.
15:20So I think for our first quarter, although not just our first quarter, right.
15:26We've, we've always been trying to improve the security side over the years, right.
15:31We see so many, I'm probably repeating myself here, but you know, we've, we've been here for 14 years.
15:37We've seen so much, uh, quote unquote failed experiments or failed projects where they had like a hack or breach, anything along those lines.
15:48Right.
15:49Uh, probably a prime example would be like FTX, right.
15:53Insolvency issues.
15:54It's not just security, right.
15:56Insolvency.
15:57They're mismanaging their funds.
16:00They're doing a lot of stuff where users just don't know what's happening.
16:04So I think, uh, the first thing that I'd like to mention is the proof of reserves.
16:10I think that's the main part where, um, a lot more exchanges are adapting.
16:15We've also adapted it where users are able to look up their proof of reserve and they're going to find out that their assets are safe and it is secured.
16:26We're not using it or mismanaging it in any way.
16:30And we do offer that on the DCC.
16:33That's one of the top things that we introduced this year.
16:37And along the way, there's a lot more security auditing, whatever that always happens in the backend.
16:44Uh, there's not much to really explain here, but, uh, you can feel, you can probably feel right along the ways we've had no past, uh, experience.
16:56Where we've got a security breach or any insolvency issues.
17:00And we tend to keep it that way.
17:02And we also want to keep it that way.
17:05So, yeah.
17:07Yeah.
17:07No one's around 14 years if they're not doing things the right way.
17:10Listen, Jeremy.
17:11Indeed.
17:12Yeah.
17:13It's the truth.
17:13Jeremy, the community manager of BTCC exchange.
17:16That was an absolutely fascinating conversation.
17:18Thank you so much for joining me today.
17:20Another of the best going forward.
17:23Thank you so much, Dan.
17:24And thanks for having me.
17:25Benzinga and, uh, happy to be here.
17:28And I'd love to talk a bit more about other stuff, but for now, thank you so much, Dan.
17:34And, uh, I hope to talk to you soon.
17:36Yeah, absolutely.
17:37Dream is alive.
17:38We'll have to do it again soon.
17:39nighttime Sleep.
17:47We'll be next time.
17:52Let's do it again.
17:57Maybe we'll talk to you soon.
17:59But let's do it.
17:59We'll have to do it again.
18:00Bye-bye.
18:00Hello.
18:00Bye-bye.
18:01Bye-bye.
18:02Bye-bye.
18:03Bye-bye.
18:04Bye-bye.
18:04Bye-bye.
18:05Bye-bye.
18:05Bye-bye.
18:05Bye-bye.
18:06Bye-bye.
18:06Bye-bye.
18:06Bye-bye.
18:07Bye-bye.
18:08Bye-bye.
