Bath's historic fire station next to Cleveland Bridge could soon be torn down and replaced and
00:08
is all because modern fire engines have literally outgrown it. The striking art deco building dating
00:17
back to 1938 has long been admired for its classic design but behind the bold lines and
00:23
vintage charm lies a growing problem. It's just too small for today's firefighting needs.
00:28
The appliance bay doors are so narrow that engines often strike the sides on their way
00:34
out to emergencies, slowing response times and creating safety risk. Cracks have appeared
00:41
in the building due to ground movement and the station lacks essential modern facilities
00:47
including proper decontamination areas and welfare spaces for crews. A new planning application
00:53
by Avon Fire and Rescue Service calls the current station not fit for purpose.
00:58
It lays out ambitious plans for a complete rebuild. The proposed station would feature
01:04
six appliance bays instead of five, each taller and wider to accommodate today's larger vehicles.
01:10
The design includes improved equipment storage, energy efficient systems and dedicated spaces
01:17
to support firefighters' physical and mental health. Fire crews have rallied behind the proposal,
01:24
stressing how vital modern recovery areas are for a job that regularly exposes them to trauma,
01:32
extreme heat and life or death decisions. The current station they say offers the bare minimum when it comes
01:38
to helping firefighters decompress. The new station would include peaceful rest zones.
01:44
So I would say that this makes sense to the building and that the main network can match with people
01:45
over the next day.
01:48
So I would say that this is a new one.
01:50
So I would say that you could watch the洗濯
01:52
and be a more friendly focus on a major network of people's work that they just don't have to do shortly.
01:56
So I would say that this is a new one.
01:58
The home of a world of a world of a soldier's living,
01:59
it's a major means when people GREAT know what they do,
02:00
and that it's a new one.
02:01
I would say that I would say that this is a new one.
