00:19 I'm Charlie, I'm a digital reporter at Bristol World and these are your top five stories

00:23 of the week.

00:24 Our top story this week is about the reopening of the Bristol Beacon. So now this has been

00:30 shut for a number of years now, undergoing this massive renovation project and a lot

00:36 of money is being invested in this transformation as well. I think it's £130 million altogether,

00:43 triple the original budget for it.

00:46 So our second story is about the ongoing saga with Barton House. So up to 400 residents

00:53 were evacuated a few weeks ago after the council found that there were safety concerns with

00:59 the structure of the building. And many of those are now living in either the Holiday

01:03 Inn with family or friends, or some of them have even moved back to the Tower Block.

01:09 So our third story this week is that a teenager has been sent to prison for six months after

01:13 attempting to steal a motorbike in broad daylight in Bristol. So the incident happened in Barclays

01:19 Square in Clifton on October the 23rd last month and a video of the crime went viral

01:24 on social media. So in the footage three people were shown wearing barrel clabbers and with

01:30 a hammer and they attempt to smash a lock and steal a motorbike.

01:35 So our fourth story this week is about Bristol's e-scooters. So people have been having issues

01:42 with these, with the availability, issues with the kickstand, problems with the app.

01:49 But here the provider has said that they will now be providing 500 more of the scooters

01:56 across the city to address some of those issues. So hopefully following that, you know, it

02:01 should be easier now to be able to ride on one of these e-scooters. And they were saying

02:06 it was a manufacturing issue with the kickstand is why there's been so many problems with

02:11 it.

02:12 On top of that, this week, the Avon and Somerset police have sent a letter to schools reminding

02:19 parents and carers that children are not allowed to use e-scooters. They're saying a lot of

02:25 children have been spotted on them and that the young people could face prosecution if

02:30 they continue to use them.

02:32 So our final story this week is that Bristol University has announced that it is going

02:37 to be dropping a slave trader Edward Colston's emblem from its logo. So it has a dolphin

02:45 emblem on the logo. But following a 12-month consultation with staff and students, it has

02:51 decided that that will be removed.
