We head to Glasgow City Centre to watch the filming of Spider-Man 4.
Transcript
00:00Spider-Man, Spider-Man, the greatest superhero that there was.
00:06I was actually just taking my motorcycle theory test, but thought I'd come down to see what's
00:12happening.
00:13We are on the edge of Bothwell Street, we've come down here because Spider-Man is filming
00:18at the moment.
00:19Both of us are kind of interested in film-making anyway, and so we're here with cameras.
00:25We've just come to see if we can catch a little glimpse of them filming.
00:29It looks like they're setting something up just now.
00:31It's cool to see all the New York stuff lying around, all the NYPD and NYFD and your man
00:38Tam Holland, he's kicking about.
00:40It's very exciting, there's a good wee buzz about the place.
00:43It looks like they're going to film some stunts, they've got a tank and some kind of riggings
00:47and stuff set up, so hopefully.
00:50I'm a filmmaker myself, so it's always cool to see the big productions, what they have
00:55in place in terms of equipment, organisation, all that sort of stuff.
00:59I've seen the movies, I'm not particularly fussed on it, but I kind of like that genre
01:04of stuff, yeah.
01:05Spider-Man is my favourite superhero, I don't like superheroes, or the films really.
01:11Yeah, I think it's really good, I think hopefully, as you were saying, both of us are interested
01:16in maybe going into that kind of filmmaking career, so hopefully it'll open up opportunities
01:22and stuff.
01:23It is great, Glasgow's a great place to use as a location for this kind of stuff.
01:27They just need to hire local people, don't ship in London crews over and over again.
01:33The London and L.A. crews coming in is a bit of a bummer.
01:37But the Spider-Man's cool, it's always been my thing.
01:42I don't know if this is going to be a Tony Stark, pure cyber spider suit, because I'm
01:47not into that.
01:48I like the universe where the spider comes down and bites him.
01:53I don't know too much about this one, but I know that a lot of people that I'm friends
01:57with are also interested in getting into filmmaking, and you kind of work your way up on it, and
02:01so people are able to get into marshalling positions and the lowest stuff, but if you want
02:06to be doing anything, like the stuff that's over there, the bigger things, you just don't
02:12get hired because you live nearby.
02:14You have to have been entrenched in the industry for so long, and it's not easy for people
02:19like us to just step in like that.
02:21I like the Spider-Man gets bit by a spider and becomes Spider-Man.
02:26I've seen some stuff, obviously you need to take it with a pinch of salt, but I've seen
02:29that it has been a lot of L.A. based crews for this one that have been brought in, which
02:34makes sense if they've worked on previous projects, but at the same time it is a bit
02:38of a bummer not to hire people from here.
02:41That was great.
02:43So let's see.
02:44Okay.
02:45I think I'll see you all right.
02:48I'll see you later at the end of the show.
02:49I'm getting sent to the show.
