00:00A major new development could soon transform the area around one of Bristol's busiest train stations.
00:07Plans have just been submitted for a large multi-storey car park and transport hub
00:12to be built just south of Bristol's Temple Meads.
00:15The project includes 379 car parking spaces, brand new bus stops and secure storage for over 530 bicycles.
00:26But this isn't just about parking.
00:28The proposals form part of a huge 135-hectare development of the Temple Quarter area,
00:36a long-term vision to bring thousands of new homes and jobs to the city's centre.
00:42Electric vehicle charging points as well as dedicated drop-off and pick-up zones are also included in the designs,
00:49making it easier for people to access the station while supporting greener transport choices.
00:55The Bristol-Temple Quarter Limited Liability Partnership, a collaboration between Bristol City Council,
01:03Homes England and the West of England Combined Authority, was set up last year to lead the project.
01:10Karen Mercer, the partnership's chief executive, says that the planning application marks a really exciting moment,
01:17calling it the first piece in the jigsaw of the area's transformation.
