00:00The lead story around the National Football League is when that game happens,
00:05will Micah Parsons be on the Cowboys?
00:08If anything, even if he is, will he be on the field to play a little bit of catch-up?
00:13Micah Parsons has been trying to make a deal with Dallas seemingly for over a year at this point.
00:21Yet every single day we wait without a deal.
00:25It actually puts more money into Micah Parsons' pockets.
00:28And I think that's why there's not necessarily been a huge rush from his side.
00:33Jerry Jones has decided to take this from like a level 2 panic to like a level 8 maybe.
00:41Bashing Micah in the media, saying he doesn't talk to the agent.
00:46I think he threw Dak under the bus once or twice for good measure.
00:50And Micah Parsons finally had enough and requested a trade,
00:55saying he no longer wanted to be a Dallas Cowboy.
01:01Lisey, what is your reaction to the latest in the Lone Star State?
01:05It's not good right now, but if there's one owner that could pay Micah Parsons, it is Jerry Jones, right?
01:10And when you see Max Crosby, Miles Garrett, and T.J. Watt get their money,
01:14Micah Parsons, in his view, is deserving of getting similar money, right?
01:18And we saw the situation play out with Dak Prescott.
01:21They waited right down to the wire, and Jerry pulls the trigger
01:24and makes him the highest paid quarterback in the NFL right before kickoff week number one.
01:29I think the situation will play out.
01:31But to Jerry Jones' defense, he's playing these players,
01:34and they're not stepping up and getting playoff wins.
01:37That's the most important thing.
01:38When you look at the team as a whole, and I understand Dak Prescott went down early,
01:42that defense didn't take over.
01:43They gave up 137 rushing yards per game, ranked 29th out of 32 teams.
01:48Micah Parsons, 12 sacks, 13 sacks over back-to-back years, but I'll say it.
01:53You know, show me the game where he really took the game over against an opponent over .500.
01:58Did he win games solely with his play?
02:01And I'll say no, and I think that that's what Jerry Jones wanted.
02:04We're going to pay these guys.
02:06You have to step up and take the team to the next level,
02:09and now he's lighting a fire under him and everybody else under the Dallas Cowboys.
02:13Well, look, credit to you.
02:14We found the one person who is seemingly defending Jerry Jones a little bit within this entire process.
02:20Shocker.
02:20The thing is, Joe, the way Jerry plays these things, he still ends up paying these guys.
02:26Right.
02:26And he's costing himself and the team money by delaying them.
02:31He cost them money with the Dak situation.
02:33He cost them money with the CeeDee Lamb situation, and he's caught unda-
02:37If Michael Parsons ends up at Dallas Cowboys, it's not going to be at a discount.
02:40It's not going to be $37, $38 million.
02:42He's going to come over the top of the Miles Garrett-T.J. Watt deals that have all been getting done.
02:47So here's my thing, then.
02:50If we're going to take what you're saying, then this trade request should be a godsend for Jerry Jones.
02:55Perfect.
02:56I've been waiting to trade Micah anyway.
02:58He's not getting the job done.
02:59Jerry doesn't want to trade Micah.
03:01No, he doesn't.
03:01Because he's a fantastic football player, one of the five best guys on the defensive side of the ball.
03:06Yeah, I get that.
03:08But here's the thing.
03:10For money for Jerry is not the issue.
03:12Well, there's a salary cap.
03:14It's not going out of his back pocket.
03:15No, but Jerry will pay if he believes that it's worth it.
03:18He wants to play it out.
03:19And again, Micah Parsons is supposed to be the face of the franchise on the defensive side of the ball.
03:24We're making him out like he's LT.
03:26Reggie White.
03:26No, he's a very good player.
03:28He's not dominant.
03:29Yes, he is the best defensive player on the Cowboys.
03:32And they need him to be happy and healthy if they're going to have success.
03:36But at the same time, if I'm paying you $40 million over X amount of years or $45, whatever he gets,
03:43I want to see results, not just in the regular season.
03:46I want to see you lead this team to a playoff win.
03:49And they haven't done that yet.
03:50Well, here's my thing, Joe.
03:51What happens when this ends with what a lot of people believe, them paying Micah Parsons?
03:56Okay.
03:56What was the end game here from Jerry?
03:58Again, he's just making Micah earn it a little bit more.
04:01Maybe.
04:02When he ends up giving him the richest contract for a non-quarterback in league history.
04:06Jerry likes drama.
04:07Good, bad, or ugly.
04:08But that's the problem.
04:09Why?
04:09What?
04:10Like, we have now seen this situation play out where this, the only way to describe it is a desire for drama.
04:19So who's better for it?
04:21And again, Micah didn't want the drama.
04:23I don't think Micah Parsons asked for this to drag out in this way and request a trade out of Dallas.
04:28No, but he is vocal.
04:30He has the podcast.
04:31He makes a lot of, you know, news.
04:34He brings the hype.
04:35He's got the podcast, right?
04:37But again, Jerry's at the end of his rope in the sense of he's got an $11 billion franchise, 11 plus, right?
04:44Probably the richest franchise in all the sports if he decided to sell it.
04:49He wants to see dividends.
04:50You can't go out there and lose to Jordan Love as a six-and-a-half-point home favorite and get blown out in your building.
04:56You can't win 16 straight home games and then come out of the gate last year with or without Dak Prescott and lose games at home and limp to an under 500 record.
05:06He wants to see results.
05:07And again, if it's lighting a fire under Micah and that defense and that team as a whole with a first-year head coach, he's going to do it.
