00:31recently purchased an electric vehicle from Mahindra let me tell you something about him

00:35he has had a lot of cars in his collection and he has some fantastic cars as well but he is really

00:42excited about his recent purchase that he has done we've asked him a few questions and here

00:46is what he has to say about them so let's quickly start this video

00:51so we have Mr Chadha over here and now he will only explain and tell us about this journey that

01:04he has gone through first of all sir please can we introduce ourselves to our audience

01:09thanks Pramit I'm AS Chadha just retired from Nestle as director exports 40 years at Nestle good innings

01:17I bought the first car in 87 I wonder if people will even know about that car it was a standard

01:27Gazel that was actually a one-of-a-kind vehicle at that time yeah and post that I've had series of

01:35cars including the what we can call a dinky car of Maruti the first one of the 800s with a just a glass

01:43opening and there came in a Ratan Tata bringing in the Tata Indy car and I paid a premium for that

01:51vehicle I even got a Indy go after that so I'm a die-hard of made in India at least patriotic to that

01:59extent my first luxury car and my dream car was a Merc that was the start after that I've had series of

02:05cars including the BMW 520d GLS 350d and in between I've had Audi Audi Q3 which I picked up I think on

02:163rd of October 1st Navaratra of 24 and here came in Mahindra XCB9E yes and that made a world of

02:27difference and I think I'm a third gen on Mahindras I started my journey with Mahindras in 2012 with the

02:36500 it was a black XUV 500 which I had then I got the 700 and when Siddharth from DM Motors he came

02:46along to give me a test drive of the 9e we didn't know the colors that are going to come it was a red

02:51color that he brought and I was quite sold out on the car the test drive itself and then I saw the

02:56Nebula blue and I really fell in love with the color that actually actually looks very bold on the road

03:01yeah I'll show you the car downstairs and I bought that car I think on the 4th of June and on the 5th

03:09morning so I took delivery at about 2 2 30 in the afternoon and the next morning I was off to Amritsar

03:14I little did I know whether it'll travel from Gurgaon to Amritsar one charge or not but I

03:20must say the vehicle didn't disappoint me a bit the drive and the feel that I got of the 9 EV forget

03:26about whether it was a EV or petrol or a diesel or a hybrid or whatever the feel of the car the grip

03:32on the road the present the maneuverability of the steering very light the shape of the steering it's

03:40got a little flattish at the bottom so it makes it that much more convenient to you know hold the

03:45vehicle and the performance of the vehicle was very good and it's a testimony that when I took it

03:53down to Amritsar it was it was about 23 or 26 kilometers it could go still when I landed up in

04:03Amritsar so I was a little shaky that if I took it home then how would I charge because I was only

04:14carrying the portable charger with me so what did I do and ever since I've used the portable charger so

04:20in the evening I put the portable charger on and you just plug it in where you plug your geezer or air

04:27on you know on the power plug and the next morning it's a 100% charge you know I was ready for the

04:32next day afternoon when I was to leave for Ludhiana the car was charged and Ludhiana I plugged it in

04:37in the night in the morning again when I moved back for me and my father we moved back to Gurgaon I mean

04:42I didn't have to stop anywhere in between so I usually go non-stop so the car lived up to its promise

04:51now this is so far as the charge is concerned now the driving feel yeah oh man you got to drive it

04:59it's a beast on the road it's a beast on the road yeah you got to ride it to feel it there's not

05:05another car that can come closer to beating this car I think our cars are fairly fairly fairly much

05:11better ev941 I can tell you is it's a very very very very safe car it's got a seventh airbag for

05:22the nail for the knee it's got it if the a curtains on the side it's got a solid body it's got a solid

05:29pickup the other one is that this is the only car which has this feature every car every luxury car

05:37has this feature in terms of the frontal collision support or braking but that is devoid from being

05:46attached to auto cruise so if you're on an auto cruise that could work could work okay in this if

05:53you're on an auto cruise unless you have the frontal on on on your auto cruise will not work which means

06:00that if you are actually enjoying the auto cruise you can be rest assured there cannot be a frontal

06:06attack so if even a cyclist come closer or a three-wheeler comes closer to the car the steering

06:13slightly wobbles to tell you and it's an alert the alert is on the on the on the on the screen

06:18the best feature that I see on this car with these that features there and other cars as well as when

06:26you give the indicator light you know the pop-up comes and gives you the direction of where the other

06:32but the clarity with which you can actually if you take a picture you can actually take the picture

06:38of the number plate of the vehicle also it's it's it's so clear it's so clear music system is a

06:45phenomenal 11 hermann speakers and very well placed gives you full joy and it has that dancing lights

06:54on the night yes the the the roof is actually glass yeah the roof is i i think there are there are light

07:02strips across the roof and plus when you use true they have the infinity logo and when you use that

07:08mode the dancing mode i think the dRL the roof the tail everything everything matches and it sings to

07:13the music it's too cool a car yeah it's actually too cool a car so just wanted to know since you bought

07:18the car very recently uh around you said around the fourth of june you bought the car so till now

07:24till today how much have you driven and i've crossed three thousand i got the first service done at

07:28about 27 2800 okay and uh it was a quick one it didn't take too long you also mentioned that just

07:34after purchasing the car you went for a trip to amritsar so the next day how was that trip and

07:39what was the road like and how was the car on the road i had loads of learnings uh in this drive and

07:45i'm glad that i did that first because uh i think this is like a ai powered yeah baby yes because

07:53um when the first time when it was fully charged it told me 523 kilometers uh range so i thought i'd

08:01had to break in between but as i kept traveling you know i i actually reached 520 kilometers with that

08:07residual of whatever the 20 odd kilometers to get home oh i mean you you still had charge i still had

08:13charge uh then um today when i look back a month later now when i charge uh it's about 610 640

08:22kilometers to a charge uh this is um with without the ac it mentions without ac when it charges full

08:29but uh when you have the ac on it's a about 15 17 down it's still about 560 kilometers 5 55 60 kilometers

08:38is this your first ev yeah is this your first yeah i never wanted to buy ev by the way see i i know a lot

08:45of people have mind blocks about evs about the charging infrastructure about a lot of things but

08:50when you saw the x ev 90 what was the first thing you looked at it because of the sheer size

08:55of the way it looks why did you choose that simple siddharth came from dm motors

09:02and uh he showed me the car auto park and auto come back to him so i sat in the car the car was

09:12uh switched off i switched on the car i thought the car was just switched off yeah i again switched

09:18on and the car actually got switched off right so he told me you know you will not feel it but you

09:23see it you know it gives you a display the car's ready to drive ready to drive so i put it in the

09:28gear motion and he said before you start be careful it just takes off so i had to very

09:36cautiously you know it's a very powerful car it's a very powerful car a small again question over here

09:42that i think is very important is that how much do you think you have saved as far as it's a simple

09:48economics we were doing this yesterday i was talking about this volvo thing so my

09:52friend downstairs so we were looking at replacing the murk now so this any vehicle that you have

10:00costs you about 12 to 13 rupees a kilometer on petrol high speed because you got to get high

10:07speed for all these cars your high octane fuel and this one bases the calculation i don't need

10:13to calculate by the way the mahindra app tells you when you charge how long you charge and you know

10:19it's taken eight rupees per per per unit per unit for charging for charging for charging all right

10:26uh we pay about six rupees something it's less than six and a half yeah but if i go by the eight

10:31right uh the cost per running comes to about 80 paisa a kilometer now how the equation works is very

10:38simple i'm paying a emi of say 73 three grand because i didn't pay a rupee while taking the car

10:43so it's running on emi so emi 73 out of the 73 if i've saved on 3000 kilometers

10:49i have saved very clearly about 32 000 on the petrol cost petrol cost okay so my emi is reduced

10:57to half reduced to half yes that is how you actually calculate when you buy an ev was it a surprise to

11:03you when you really when you saw that the car is really going more than 500 kilometers two things

11:08uh first so there was and i checked out on the net also before i bought the q3 uh the fact is that

11:17they said that you know it shows you a particular kilometer in the begin when the whole thing is

11:21charged but then it drops uh significant significantly uh sometimes later yeah not always but at times at

11:28times and uh so i decided no ev and i went in for the q3 premium plus yeah but the diehard that i am

11:37either for the tatas or the mahindras and this is my third gen mahendra 500 700 and the 9 ev

11:42there's one thing which is in common this is the only vehicle which the vehicle manufacturer

11:49is giving a lifetime warranty on the battery where on earth are you going to get something like this

11:57because the other question that my friend yesterday night when we were discussing asked me

12:00but what about the extended warranty where on earth do you need an extended warranty because the

12:05two components already covered now what do you want i mean nobody's going to cover people go talk

12:09about covering of uh tires but they never give you a new tire yeah absolutely that's that's that's

12:14something that's really commendable from mahendra and they are doing oh yes so now coming to the

12:18performance and handling a little bit so uh like the type of roads highway rural patches or the city

12:24roads how exactly is the drive the feel highway you can drive the car on this on on just one finger

12:31just like this and you already mentioned that the suspension is top notch uh compared to any

12:38it's going to take time for people to come closer to this car forget about beating it it's a beast on

12:42the road it's quite a beast that's something that we are eager to hear from customers like this they

12:49are really enjoying the car like from day one okay so i think next is about the charging infrastructure

12:58so what do you think about the charging infrastructure in india is it good is it okay does it need improvement

13:03so when you're driving this vehicle this has the display coming on the screen okay so everything on

13:11the dial is actually on the screen yeah right so whenever there is a uh if you're on a highway

13:19i think about 15 or 18 kilometers or 20 kilometers range uh if there's a charging station coming nearby

13:27so if it's on the right hand side of the highway on the right hand side you will get a you know that

13:32charging indication that there's a charging station number and if there are two okay you'll get two of

13:36them if there are three you'll get three charging and it'll tell you how many kilometers oh okay if

13:41it's on the right and left hand side it'll tell you on the left hand side if it's left and right it'll

13:46show you both okay so the learning that was that even a petrol pump today has these charges has this and

13:52this is a fast charger 60 kv okay 60 kilowatt right 60 kv charger and uh because i never had it now i have it

14:00so that money is in my phone so next time i want to charge at a bp station i can charge at the bp

14:04station so the infrastructure we always thought was not there infrastructure is there available

14:10you just have to find it it's it's a question of once you get into the groove you will find enough

14:15and more and plenty of them now one question before we head down to the vehicle were there any moments

14:21uh with this car where you thought that okay fine uh i wish i had a petrol or a diesel car right now

14:28i'm trying to convince my wife and the other friends of mine the why are we still running on

14:36petrol and hybrids i think that actually answers everything what he's trying to say and i think now

14:42we led to the vehicle and uh it's a freak out vehicle just get onto the steering and play with the

14:50gizmos in the car try to understand the car it's going to take your time it's not going to be simple

14:56because that extraordinary features actually not worth it but there are too many features so if

15:03if the car has to be compared on features with another car uh i think the beamers and the mercs

15:09of the world will have to do quite a bit to be matching this okay let's now head down to the car

15:14and i think uh we will uh ask a couple of other questions as well regarding the car so let's go

15:27so now since we are inside the car and uh you also speaking that i know you mentioned that you've

15:32not used the auto park feature but uh when uh you went to the showroom or when the car had come to you

15:38the you see when siddharth brought the car to me yeah at that point in time uh i mean he he pressed

15:44the button on the car came back and there was no one in the car there was no one in the car so i said

15:48is this auto this thing here he says the auto feature now it's not a wowee feature yeah but it's

15:53a easy feature convenient feature so overall yeah it means it's not something very fast i'm driving with

15:58my hands off i mean the car is too sturdy and here i brake it stops so i mean the the vehicle is unbeatable

16:06it's a beast on the road it is it is actually it's very good for the off-road also by the way

16:11yeah it may not be off-roader yes it's yeah it cannot be since technically it's a rear-wheel drive

16:16car so how was the overall drive experience when you went for that road trip or if you're driving on

16:22a daily basis also and what made the drive feel uh very easier and comfortable in the ev once you

16:28mentioned this because uh you know the steering is very light yes uh braking is solid okay you know

16:36when you take if you really press the pedal it takes off you know your back gets a thrust yeah

16:41because uh it's first of all it's a rear wheel drive and there's a lot of torque in the car so it

16:45just lifts the front and oh it just kind of takes off is what you're saying true the other one was

16:50that when they said uh you know lifetime warranty on the battery and eight years on uh on the motor

16:56or 150 000 kilometers on the motor i did my quick math 150 000 kilometers if i done right i've already

17:04saved about 18 lakhs is there any tech feature that you ended loving up like loving a lot uh during

17:13your journeys or during the drives any specific feature that you would i'm improving driving by the

17:18day because uh the feature that this gives is if i come here now this is talking about where the you

17:24know the region is happening uh now it's giving me energy conservation consumption okay so right now i'm

17:30consuming less i i scale up and you see the graph going up going up so it's not that you're looking

17:37at this and driving but you your driving skills improve because if you're consuming less and driving

17:43more yeah so it basically helps you improve your driving skills along absolutely so here right straight

17:50line means you're you know it's not taking anything away from you region of 10 right region 15

17:57and now when i do power i'm reaching up a power of 18 20 22 27 28 20 30 drop to wheel oh okay it's

18:05dropped to 10. showing it in percentage yeah and now usually do you travel alone do you travel with

18:11family or friends it's usually me and my wife and uh and or sitting behind yeah so the driver's driving

18:18visiting me okay and since you have experienced the second row uh how's the comfort on the second row when

18:24the very cool you see this this is this has that luxury thing where you can adjust the uh you know

18:30both sides seats are adjustable adjustable so it gives you the option of the inclination that you want

18:35so if you want a straight back you can do a straight back you want to incline back you can take a

18:39in line back so that option uh is there actually the other one is the aircon is super chill yeah that's

18:46what i was just wondering we have just reduced the fan speed also but still it's

18:51it's running at three it can run at eight and now what exactly would you say to someone

18:57who is going to buy an ev in india considering the fact that you have now one and seeing the

19:01infrastructure about charging and everything related what is your one take that you would

19:06like to give to people just one thing yeah first believe in yourself okay if you believe in yourself

19:14believe in believe in the technology that we indians create okay for the world over

19:21we are proud indian why indian trust the mahindras and the tatas okay end of story

19:32so sir i think uh we've had a wonderful experience and uh before i think we wind up this shoot let me

19:39ask you since you are already enjoying this vehicle a lot um where would you like to take this vehicle next
