Malaysia’s current economic framework lacks the complexity needed to achieve developed nation status, resulting in low value creation and suppressed wages, says former Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli.
Debating the 13th Malaysia Plan in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday (Aug 4), Rafizi (PH–Pandan) said the education system fails to produce a skilled workforce for a high-value economy.
This, he noted, was why the 13MP—drafted during his tenure—proposed mandatory early childhood education starting at age five.
