PH to tap indigenous sources of fuel

Energy Secretary Sharon Garin says that the Philippine government is pushing to harness all indigenous sources of fuel such as solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, and waste so as not to be dependent on other countries.

“We are dependent on the international market for diesel; coal and gas. But we have a growing supply of the indigenous source of fuel that we own. We have wind, solar, geothermal and biomass,” she told The Manila Times. Garin graced the inauguration of First Gen and Energy Development Corporation’s P7 billion 22-MW Tanawon Geothermal Energy Power Plant in Bacon-Manito facility in Sorsogon province on August 1.
