I wanted Z-O-M-B-I-E-S movies to be about discrimination again, the monkey paw curls as I was given a movie about discrimination but not oppression.

00:00Zombies time. Zombies 4 is a release. Okay, first of all, we gotta recap the first three movies briefly for formatting purposes.
00:09Movie 1, we have humans and zombies, and the zombies are a metaphor for racism, and the schools get desegregated.
00:19And it's kinda bad, because zombies don't make a great metaphor for people getting discriminated against, because they're zombies.
00:27Then they made a second movie, and they added werewolves. And the werewolves are kind of Native American-y, where they're the original inhabitants of the land.
00:36So, there's a metaphor to be had there, but it's not so advert to the point where you're questioning why they're werewolves.
00:44So it actually works a lot better as a metaphor. And then they made a third movie, and they were like,
00:49So, it's aliens, and then that was the movie. And the moral was that, if you're aliens, Earth is cool. Live here.
01:01So they stopped trying. So we moved from movie about discrimination overtly, movie about discrimination but more broadly,
01:12And then movie that just stopped trying to be about discrimination.
01:15So my fears for the fourth movie was, they were just done with this whole discrimination angle.
01:21And the moral was just gonna be like, don't lie to your friends or some bullshit.
01:26Thankfully they didn't do that. They seem to be taking a step back in the discrimination direction.
01:31They haven't really re-reached their heights of two, but it's certainly an improvement on three.
01:38As far as how good the movie is, I have to say, um, this movie has brainwotted me to the point where I can no longer tell.
01:45Because I just enjoy these characters so much at this point that I'm just like, yay! My friends are back!
01:52So, I think it's a good movie, but also like, like, I'm hearing terrible jokes being told, and like, people not acting at all like humans would ever act.
02:02And you're like, I'm just like, yay! Movie time!
02:06So, this movie is, it's just beyond me at this point.
02:09You just have to accept that if you're not a Zombies fan at this point, like, why the fuck are you watching?
02:14And as far as Zombie fans go, you know, they, they know their target audience. They delivered.
02:19They, they said, we're gonna take four characters from the original series.
02:24The two leads, the rebel zombie girl, and the cool werewolf that I liked.
02:31And then they're like, no aliens will be appearing in this movie. The aliens have been completely cut.
02:36So they, they're seemingly in agreeance with me that the aliens was shit.
02:41So that's good. That's a good turn.
02:44Funny that the fourth installment in the movie series Zombies has just the main zombie boy and the rebel girl zombie.
02:53So it's like, well, technically it's zombies because we've got two of them.
02:58They deliberately put the rebel zombie there just so they could be like, technically it's zombies. There is two.
03:05Now our new monsters for this film is vampires, which is funny because zombies actually did like a shit ton of promotional material across these three movies.
03:17And like, there's a ton of like weird shorts and stuff like on YouTube.
03:21And I'm not just talking about the reanimated series, which is like a really big series that they're doing.
03:26That's, I've saw, I've seen some of that and it seems like cute and fun, but it's not like interesting enough to really talk about.
03:32But there's like, like when the second movie came out, they did like a bunch of like werewolf shorts and stuff.
03:37And like, if you dig hard enough, there's like some weird, like terribly animated vampire short where like a vampire shows up on some zombies YouTube channel that probably has like a hundred views.
03:50And people in the, in the comments were like, they can't make vampires the new character for this movie.
03:56They're already established as a thing in this universe.
03:59And it's like, as if Disney channel would be like, well, we got to keep the lore consistent with this fucking YouTube video that we made seven years ago.
04:06So yeah, that, that video is clearly to canonize now.
04:09Vampires are in the movie, but plot twist.
04:13They also added day walkers, which are like the anti vampires.
04:18So in the first movies, there was the moonstone and that's what made all the monsters so far.
04:24But then at the beginning of this movie, they're like two more moonstones fell like a little ways away also.
04:29And they made the vampires and the day walkers.
04:32Then the, the, it also made this fruit called blood fruit, but the design is just a dragon fruit.
04:38So I think it's just dragon fruit.
04:40And the, the people that live there just don't realize that that's, was already a thing.
04:44So they just named it the wrong thing.
04:46And then yeah, they compete over the blood fruit and you're like, guys, there's plenty of dragon fruit.
04:51Like just, it's fine.
04:52This is a real fruit.
04:54Also way later in the movie when the day walkers and the vampires grow to learn about each other.
04:59They're like, so you don't use your fangs to drink blood.
05:04Blood fruit.
05:05We don't drink blood.
05:07And it's like, but the day walkers also eat blood fruit and they don't have fangs.
05:13So why do you have fangs?
05:16Maybe.
05:18They don't actually eat it right.
05:20The day walkers take bites.
05:22The vampires just suck it out.
05:24So they competed over the blood fruit and over time the two groups grew apart from each other.
05:32Grew to distrust each other.
05:33And now they live in separate communities in fear of one another.
05:36But their blood fruit orchards are dying.
05:39So now they have to go to the middle, mutual demilitarized zone-esque orchard together.
05:45And there's gonna be conflict.
05:47Gee, I wonder if these two sides are gonna learn to set their differences aside and realize that they're more alike than they really think.
05:55And, you know, learn that they're stronger as one community in this movie.
06:00Because that's a plot I've never seen in any kids' media ever before.
06:04So that's the plot of the movie.
06:06That's what happens.
06:08So, I mean, there you go.
06:12That's kind of about discrimination, because, like, there's two groups that discriminate against each other and they learn not to do that.
06:19But also you're kind of like, wait a second.
06:21I'm only really treating daywalkers and vampires as a racism metaphor because the zombies and the werewolves are racism metaphors.
06:29But really, in this movie, in isolation, like, it could just as easily be, like, the greasers and the whatever, the socks or whatever it is in Greece.
06:38Or, like, the motorcyclists and the surfers in Teen Beach movie.
06:42Or, like, the Eastsiders and the Westsiders.
06:45Like, they could be any two groups.
06:47So, yeah, it's really not a racism metaphor when you think about it.
06:50It's just a two-groups metaphor.
06:52So, it's kind of in the direction of being about racism, but it's not, actually.
06:58Okay, now we have to actually talk about the vampires and the daywalkers, because what the fuck.
07:02I do have to give them some amount of allowances here for their design choices, because a lot of their design choices are very in line with the zombies universe, like, as it's been established.
07:13Because the zombies already don't really look that much like zombies, they just have green hair.
07:17And the werewolves, like, don't turn into wolves, they just have fangs and teeth.
07:21And the aliens just have, like, blue hair and technology.
07:25So, like, you're like, okay, when they introduce a new monster, it's just kind of like a human, but, like, they have a few kind of monster-y features.
07:32The daywalkers have day powers.
07:35So, they're, like, our solar-powered flare and stuff like that, and they shoot fire.
07:40So, it's mostly just them shooting fire.
07:42Like, they're the opposite of the vampires, which are the night creatures.
07:47But the thing is, the vampires, they live in, like, a town that's magically always nighttime.
07:52So, they are nocturnal, but not really, because it's always night.
07:56So, once they leave that town, they just sleep at nighttime again, and they're up during the day.
08:01So, they're just not night creatures.
08:03And when they go in the sun, they're like, I was taught that the sun would burn us to death, but actually it doesn't.
08:08So, like, okay, you're just not a night creature.
08:11You're just a guy.
08:12And the fact that the people that are the opposite of you are sun-themed is just, they're not actually opposites to any degree.
08:20Which I guess makes sense, because the theme is, like, we're not so different, you and I.
08:24But you would think one's sun and one's night, and they seem opposite, but they're really not.
08:30But no, it's just kind of like, we're sun, and they're vampires.
08:35And you're like, they're just unrelated.
08:37Daywalkers don't have fire powers because vampires are weak to fire.
08:41They have fire powers because burning anyone alive is a strong power.
08:47And the vampires are afraid of them not because they're weak to the fire, but because they don't want to be burned alive.
08:53And it's like, yeah, I would die there.
08:55The fact that they're vampires has nothing to do with it.
08:58They just don't want to be burned.
09:00And then the vampire's powers, they skipped over, you know, blood or immortality or any of the classic vampire abilities.
09:10And skipped over to flying, which is like, okay, that is a vampire power.
09:15But that's like seventh or eighth down the list after like a lot of other vampire powers.
09:20It's weird for that to be their one power.
09:23And they're like, we fly because we control the wind.
09:26And then they make like little storm clouds with like little thunder and clouds.
09:30And you're like, that's not a vampire.
09:32That's just a storm.
09:34But like, if you told me our new creature's powers are making wind and storm, I'd be like, so it's like a genie or something?
09:41It's the Daywalkers and the genies.
09:43That's what this movie is really about.
09:44They just accidentally call the genies vampires.
09:47When the vampires do use their abilities, like, every monster in this universe, like, they have a glowy thing.
09:55Either they take off their Z-band to go zombie.
09:58And the werewolves, like, they activate their moonstone to go a wolf out.
10:02And the aliens use their alien tech to like alien out.
10:05So the vampires, when they like vamp out, they do get things.
10:08But like, by default, when they aren't doing that, they just don't have things.
10:12So like, most of the time when you're looking at them, they're like, you're just hot topic genies.
10:17And like, the werewolves, when they aren't wolfed out, they have things.
10:21So the werewolves are more vampire-esque than the vampires are.
10:26So that- yeah.
10:27A lot of questions to be had there.
10:29Okay, so we're introduced to the two sides, the Daywalkers and the vampires.
10:33And they're both scared of one or the other, but they have to go to the mutual orchard to get the fruit.
10:38And there's like the mommy vamp- and daddy Daywalker.
10:42And the daddy Daywalker is talking to his daughter, which is like the progeny of the Daywalkers.
10:47And the daughter's like, Father, how long must we live in fear of people we don't even know?
10:54And he's like-
10:55As long as I'm in charge.
10:56And like, it feels like it was written in such a way that it was supposed to be like, she was like, bringing up like,
11:02the sensing view to their way of life.
11:05And he was like dismissing it.
11:06But like, the way he- he delivers it is as if she asked a genuine question.
11:11Like, she's like, how long are we gonna be discriminating against people we don't actually know?
11:15He's like, oh, you know, for as long as I'm the leader.
11:18Like, he- like, it didn't occur to him that that might be her questioning him.
11:22Like, he thought she asked it in earnest.
11:24Like, she was like, just for scheduling reasons, Father.
11:27I was just a bit curious as to how long we'll be discriminating against people we don't know.
11:31Oh, forever? Oh, okay, yeah.
11:34Okay, that makes sense.
11:35Yeah, yeah, I didn't get that.
11:36Okay.
11:37That's a beautiful line delivery.
11:39Then, yeah, our titular leads, the two zombies, our main character who was a human, but at this point in the series is half alien, half human.
11:48And then the werewolf lead.
11:50Um, so, no more humans.
11:52There's not a human in this movie.
11:54I think the opening scene, there's some humans in the background.
11:57That's it.
11:58Humans have fully moved out of importance in this universe.
12:02And they're going on a road trip, because they had such a busy year of college, because they went off to college at the end of the last movie.
12:08So they're going on a road trip so they can see their friends again.
12:10There's a big power surge, and it makes the Z-Bands stop working.
12:14What a fucking surprise! The Z-Bands aren't fucking working.
12:17And then Zed the zombie's out, and he crashes the car, and they're like, we gotta go look for help.
12:24And then the zombies find the Daywalkers, and Addison finds the vampires, and they're both like, oh, we're going to the orchard to get through, here's exposition.
12:36And then they go and find the other side, and they're like, urgh, it's the other side.
12:41They, um, they're like, we can't get into the orchard, because it's locked by three keys.
12:45And so, Mommy Vampire and Daddy Daywalker are like, alright, Scotter and son, we're fucking off. Un-unclear as to why.
12:54We're outie.
12:56You guys, you and your friends, it's not really explained why all the vampires and Daywalkers we see are like teenagers, they just kinda are.
13:03If you're not the Daddy or the Mommy, you're a teen.
13:06So he's like, yeah, take your teen friends, find these keys, uh, we'll be back when you do that shit.
13:12So they fuck off, and then the vamps and the Daywalkers are like competing to find the keys.
13:17And they're like, we gotta set up camp somewhere, because we're in the middle of this random forest.
13:20And they're like, look, we found a campgrounds.
13:23And it's got Daywalker and vampire symbols on it.
13:26And the daughter of the Daywalkers and the son of the vampires are like, wow, both symbols-
13:32That's crazy to us.
13:34And then everyone's like, wow, seems like the vamps must have tagged the Daywalkers place or something.
13:41Cause there's no way we ever worked together in the past.
13:45And you're like, gee, wonder if it'll turn out that they worked together in the past.
13:50Then they're like, I guess this means we're camp counselors, guys.
13:56And so the zombies and the werewolves are their camp counselors.
14:00Which is like, up until this point, I was like, this is such a weird zombies movie.
14:04Cause all of the zombies movies up until this point have been about high schoolers, like, dealing with discrimination and monsters.
14:10So like, it just being about two groups, you're just kinda like, this is not like, themed correctly for this franchise.
14:16So now they're like, discrimination camp. It's camp vampire, camp Daywalker.
14:21So now you're like, okay, yeah, now it makes sense. Now it's on theme. It's a camp movie.
14:26But also you're like, no, these are just like two groups of people going to war with each other.
14:32But they're at camp while doing it. So that's just golden. That's lovely.
14:37So then we do like a song number.
14:40I guess I should get into the songs.
14:42They're certainly better than the Descendants 4 songs, cause those songs were atrociously bad.
14:47Are they as good as Zombies 2? No, because the Zombies 2 soundtrack is baller as hell.
14:53But they're better than, hmm, it's close to level of 3. Maybe it's better than 1.
14:59It's, it's meh. I'd give it an overall meh. There is one song that the ending song is like a...
15:04A reprise of a song from Zombies 3. And that song's probably the best song on the soundtrack.
15:10But it's literally stolen from 3, so you're like...
15:13That's why it's the best one. It's from a previous movie.
15:16Anyways, soundtrack's fine. They have a song. They compete. They find the key by accidentally working together.
15:22And then you're like, wow, they're gonna learn to work together while at camp, aren't they?
15:26So now they have to get two more keys. Then we get to, um, the love story.
15:31The, the vampire's like, that Daywalker lady who's in charge, I saw her in my dreams.
15:37And she's like, I saw him in my dreams. And then like, every time they look at each other, like, there's like a pause.
15:42And they're like, whoa, I'm, I have a crush. But like, they've never spoken to each other.
15:47So you're kind of like, that's not a crush. You're just insane.
15:51Like, there's nothing they have in common. But when they look at one another, the screen lingers and like, goes slow-mo for a second.
15:59So they're in love. In every one of these movies, there's always a scene where Zed accidentally startles Addison.
16:06And then she accidentally hits him and then she goes, oops, reflexes.
16:09Um, but instead in this movie, the vamp boy accidentally startles the Daywalker girl and she hits him.
16:16And she's like, oops, reflexes. It's like a joke. It's like, they stole their thing.
16:20And then when they walk off together during nighttime, Zed and Addison is like, they remind us of someone we know.
16:27Like us is like the joke. And you're like, but no, because you guys had things in common.
16:32And like, you were both nice and funny people and you liked each other.
16:36These people just look at each other and go, oh, good, good, good, good, good. I have a crush.
16:41So yeah, that's infuriating. The two of them, once they get their scene together, then they start talking about like,
16:47I'm being told how to be a leader and I feel like I do a bad job because I don't know if I believe in all this nonsense about how the other side is so bad.
16:55And they're like, I feel that way too. And I don't think you're a bad leader for feeling that way.
17:00And then like they get along and you're like, okay, finally we get like a thing they have to bond over.
17:06So after their love song, they're like a fine couple and it's like, okay.
17:10But for the first like quarter of the movie, you're just like, please, can you speak to each other first?
17:14So that was a little annoying. Then like the werewolves bully the vampires into behaving,
17:19which is funny because she's like a werewolf and they're like 18 vampires, but they're all afraid of her.
17:24And you're like, that's fucking right, bitch.
17:26Okay, moving on. The second trial is when they have their love song.
17:30They find the key by working together. So you're like, yes, I'm catching on to how this movie works.
17:35They learn to work together. So then they do their third trial is a big rock.
17:40And you can either push it to the sun side of the little area of the rocks in or the moon side.
17:47And they're like, oh, I get it. If you push it to the sun side, the sun people go to the orchard.
17:51And if you push it to the moon side, the vamps do. So the both sides are like, we got to compete to win.
17:58And then our lead vampire boy and sun girl are like, no, guys, we got to cooperate.
18:04These all these trials have been about cooperating and they're like, no, this one clearly has no cooperative answer.
18:10So we got to compete. And then I guess the magic pulse of Moonstone magic that messed with Zed Z-Man in the beginning of the movie that caused him to crash and set this plot motion.
18:23Like it goes off again. And Zed's like, owie, I'm all hurty now. And everyone's like, oh, never mind.
18:30Let's stop competing to help Zed, our mutual friend. And you're like, first of all, damn, didn't know you liked Zed that much.
18:37Kind of feels like you just met him. And like you're competing for the food that your people need to like not starve.
18:44So it's a little surprising that not a single person was like, I'm just going to be the one person who hangs behind.
18:50And just keep pushing this rock and immediately win.
18:53But no, everyone's like, forget this fucking rock. Zed's in trouble, guys.
18:59Once Zed is all sick or whatever from the pulse fucking with his Z-Band or whatever, then he's all like,
19:05If I would have known, then I would have spent every second of freshman year with you. And you, and you.
19:14And it's like, hold up. Hold up. I saw the first movie, Zombies. Your fucking best friend was named Bonzo and he only spoke zombie.
19:23You're just not going to mention him. And like earlier in the movie, they were, no, no. Earlier in the movie, they like quickly go through all their friends and they're like,
19:30Bucky's back from space.
19:32Bonzo and Bri just started their first summer jobs.
19:34Willa told me that Winter's teaching meditation.
19:37But then when it comes to him being like, I can't believe I didn't spend more time with my friends.
19:42He just doesn't get a call out at all. Like, damn. Fucking rip Bonzo.
19:47Also, Addison had like a human friend. She was like plot relevant in the first one.
19:52She's been written out of the movies at this point. Bri. Yeah. Fuck that girl, I guess.
19:57Anywho, the moral of this story is if two sides can't get along, find a mutual friend between those two sides.
20:04And every time they start having a conflict, just beat the shit out of that one friend.
20:09The one friend doesn't have to do anything wrong. He just has to have the shit beaten out of them.
20:13And then the two sides will stop fighting because they'll be so concerned about their friend that's getting beaten up.
20:18And then once that friend is doing okay and then they go back to fighting, just go back to beat him up again.
20:23And then they'll stop. They'll stop real fast. And it works. And you can just imagine like,
20:27Magic of the Moonstone being like, well, you guys are fighting again. Whack, whack.
20:32Sorry, Zed. This has to happen. You have to get beaten. It's the only way to resolve this conflict.
20:37And then Zed's just like, please, please resolve this conflict. No more beatings.
20:43Anyways, they're like, this pulse is from the Moonstone.
20:47So it's activating all of our powers, werewolf, alien, and zombie.
20:52But Zed feels it the worst because his Z-band barely fucking works as is because he breaks it in every episode.
20:57So wonderful that they brought up the fact that he fucks with his Z-band in every single movie of the series.
21:03Very funny that they called themselves out on that. And the fact that they're like, yeah, that thing's fucking barely holding together.
21:09It's on its last leg. The latch broke in the second movie. We hacked into it in the first movie.
21:15The werewolf's Moonstones deactivated it in the second movie. Addison's alien tech fucked with it in the third movie.
21:25This shit barely works. It's holding together with duct tape and rubber bands.
21:30Yeah, they have to work together to stop the moon blasts from killing Zed with moon blast energy.
21:36And he's like, if we don't do something fast, he's gonna be full zombie forever.
21:40And he's like, isn't the whole moral of this series that like, that's not a bad thing?
21:46Anywho, they go down to some weird cave and they find that some of the roots from the orchard has like a big...
21:56What do you call those, those things that plants grow on? An arbor?
22:01It's like an arbor, I think is what I'm thinking of. Oh, a trellis. Yeah, it's like a big trellis kinda.
22:06And they're like, the trellis broke and it's smashing the branch, the roots now.
22:12So we gotta move it. And then they move it and it's like, we fixed it.
22:16They have to work together to move it though, so they learn to work together.
22:20And then they, they do a big speech where they're like, vampires? Daywalkers?
22:26At the end of the day, what's the real difference?
22:29Did you ever consider that fans of space adventure for...
22:32Speckys!
22:33Right, Speckys, have more in common with fans of Stumbleberry, Finkbat, and...
22:36Finkys!
22:37Maybe Speckys and Finkys have more in common than they do differences.
22:41And so, they were like, remember that big stone we had to push to one side or the other?
22:45If we used our eyeballs, we would have seen that there was a third side that had the sun and the moon mixed together.
22:52That's the side we have to push it to. I forgot to look at that side, so let's push it to that side.
22:58Then they push it to that side and they're like, ugh, conflict resolved.
23:02Now we can go into the orchard and get all the blood fruit we need.
23:06And then Mommy, Vampire, and Daddy Daywalker show up and like, we're back! Wow!
23:14Now let's go inside and not let the other half have any!
23:18And then the other side's like, no let's go inside and not let your other half have any!
23:24And you're like, it's one thing to get children to realize the bigoted shit their parents tell them isn't true.
23:30But when those bigoted parents start making a decision, suddenly it's a whole fucking other story.
23:35And you're like, that's accurate, yeah, good job, that's how it works.
23:39And like, to be honest, when you think about it, none of the adults in any of the previous movies ever changed their mind as to the discrimination thing.
23:47Addison parents were like, very evil through the entire series.
23:51So you're like, yeah, that sounds about right.
23:53Then the vampires fight and they make a big flame blast that burns down half the orchard.
23:59And the orchard's like, I told you kids that I would beat the hell out of Zed if you kept fighting.
24:05Whack! Whack! Whack! Stop fighting! Whack!
24:09And Zed's like, damn! Stop fighting, guys!
24:11This magic force sure is beating the crap out of me here!
24:15And I was like, sorry! Gotta do it! It's the only way to resolve conflicts!
24:19So now Zed's pretty badly hurt.
24:21And then...
24:22And they go back to where that Arbor or Tralus, whatever the hell it is, thing is.
24:26And they're like, huh. There seems to be like a slotty thing on this that would fit a moonstone or two.
24:34And they're like, oh.
24:36If we bring both of the two halves of the two moonstones from our two cities here together...
24:42They'll fit together here. And they're like...
24:45They weren't two moonstones. They were two halves of one moonstone.
24:50But now, both sides hate each other. And our moonstones are like the most valuable thing we own. So how?
24:59All we have to do is steal the most important thing from our villages and bring it back here.
25:04Right.
25:06Never gonna happen.
25:08Our leads have to be like, have a pep talk, guys. At least try and do it.
25:13And they're like, I guess we must try.
25:16And then they walk up to where their respective moonstones are and there's like two guys guarding it.
25:20And they're like, kick. Kick.
25:23And the two guys go out and they're like, grab moonstone. Run off.
25:26And they're like, damn. It was real fucking easy.
25:29They're like, yeah, it turns out their culture's most valuable artifact.
25:33It was just two kicks away.
25:35So they get the two moonstones and they bring them back and they put them together.
25:39And then it cures the orchard and regrows all the fruit.
25:42And then both sides respective mommy and daddy show up and they're like, ugh, I'm repulsed by this shit.
25:49And then they're like, us kids picked all of the fruit before you guys could come fuck shit up and we're sharing it.
25:58And look.
25:59When we brought the moonstones together, it cured the orchard.
26:03And then mommy and daddy are like, this has completely discredited my entire worldview.
26:09I see now I was 100% wrong.
26:11You guys are the best.
26:13And they're like, yay.
26:15Happy ending.
26:17Everybody dance now.
26:19And then everybody dances now.
26:21And then I'm here thinking like, oh, cool.
26:25They brought the two moonstones to where they belong together.
26:29Just like how the two communities belong together.
26:32But then the main girl is like to celebrate this.
26:36Let's agree to bring our moonstones back here once a year to celebrate.
26:41And it's like, what?
26:42You're not just going to leave them here.
26:44This was clearly designed to be like the place where they belong, where they fit together.
26:49You're like, okay, now let's separate them back up and bring them back to our separate communities.
26:55But once a year, they'll go back together.
26:59So weird.
27:00Yeah.
27:01And then they touch the roots of the plant that grows some moonstone.
27:04And they're like, oh, we're cured now of all this fuckery that we got from the beams of energy.
27:10But the thing is like, it makes sense that the werewolves and aliens were cured because the moonstone is what powers them.
27:18But the moonstone is what makes zombies into zombies.
27:23The Z-bands is what makes them human.
27:26So if the power of the moonstone was destroying your Z-band and making you go full zombie,
27:32curing the moon tree and fueling yourself with its energy would not fix you.
27:39It would make you worse.
27:40But it cures him.
27:41So don't question it.
27:43It cures him.
27:44At the end, they do, they bring back a song from the third movie, like I said.
27:49But the really funny thing is, the song from the third movie, like, let me actually pull up the lyrics.
27:55So this is the opening song to Zombies 3.
27:58But it's the closing song to Zombies 4.
28:01And in Zombies 3, it's like a call and response song.
28:05Where Zed is like, we're not breaking up, we're not falling out, and we won't change.
28:10And then Addison goes like, I hope.
28:12And then Addison's like, when it comes to trust, there's nothing that we can't say.
28:18We're not worried.
28:19Definitely not worried.
28:20At all.
28:21We're not worried.
28:22Definitely not worried.
28:23It's so disturbing how all these stars align.
28:25But we're not nervous, and totally unconcerned with all things uncertain.
28:29And then they call response, but this isn't gonna be good.
28:32So like, the joke of the song is that like, they're telling themselves everything's gonna be okay.
28:37But like, they know it's not, you know?
28:39And they're like, there's nothing to be concerned with here.
28:42And they're like, absolutely nothing to be concerned with here.
28:44And they're like, yep, totally nothing.
28:46And you're like, okay, so there's something to be concerned with here.
28:48But at the end of the fourth movie, it's just played for straight.
28:52They're just like, yeah, we're so fine.
28:54Nothing bad is gonna happen now.
28:55And they're like, indeed nothing bad is gonna happen now.
28:58Because it's the end of the movie.
29:00And you're like, that's, I know the song.
29:03I've heard it in the Zombies 3 soundtrack.
29:06That's not how it's supposed to be interpreted.
29:08And like, they go from the song lyrics like, to the instrumental, right?
29:11At the part where they go like, this isn't gonna be good.
29:14Because like, they have to cut at the part where they imply that it's not supposed to be taken seriously.
29:19And they just leave in the part where they're like, we're gonna be fine, so fine.
29:23It's so funny.
29:27I love it.
29:28It's so funny.
29:30Honestly, the thing about this series is, as much as I can make fun of it, you can just tell the people who made it have so much fun making these movies.
29:36That's like, you can't help but have a good time while watching them.
29:39And also, they've completely messed up the costuming at this point.
29:43Originally, it was, humans are pink, zombies have green hair, and they wear red and gray.
29:50Then, we got werewolves, which had white streaks in their hair, and they wear purple and wealth pelts.
29:58And then we got aliens, which have blue hair and blue clothes.
30:04And so you could always tell who everybody was based on their color coding.
30:08But in this movie, they added, the Daywalkers are red and white, and they wear like, Varsity kind of-esque clothing.
30:15Which is a new color palette.
30:17But the vampires are red and black.
30:19And the zombies were already red and gray.
30:23So you're like, that's too close at this point.
30:26Also, the lead Daywalker girl wears a jacket with one sleeve.
30:31And it's like, are you hot or cold?
30:33Are you such hot that you need only one sleeve, but not so hot that you want to take off your jacket?
30:40Anyways, so Addison has moved throughout the series from having fake blonde hair to cover up her white hair in the first movie.
30:47True white hair in the second movie, to learning she's this alien, getting blue hair in the third movie.
30:52Now in this movie, she's back to white hair, but she's added a purple streak to her hair to show that she's part alien, even though the aliens were blue and purple is the werewolf's color.
31:03So that makes no sense.
31:05Addison just fucking ditched the color scheme on that one.
31:08So they mess up there.
31:10The vampires have black hair with red highlights and the Daywalkers have blonde hair with gold, like gold leaf in their hair.
31:19That's another design decision where you're like, that's odd.
31:22Also, the sets are not nearly as good because the Daywalker town and the Nightwalker town are like CGI backdrop.
31:29That's kind of it.
31:30I guess the camp is a real set. The camp is fine.
31:33This new couple, it ends with them being like, I've established that I like you and I like you too.
31:39And then they walk off their own ways and then they double back and they embrace.
31:43And you're like, they're gonna kiss because it's a kids movie.
31:46They don't, they hug.
31:47And you're like, oh, that was cute.
31:50But like, that's such a zombies thing.
31:52Like, I don't think our leads kiss in the first movie and I'm not even sure if they kiss in the second movie.
31:57They love to slow burn this shit.
31:59And then after that, the very end of the movie, they look out to the, after hugging, they look out to the ocean.
32:05A big whirlpool will happen. A sharknado is out there.
32:09So you're like, what is this introducing?
32:11And the funniest thing is the end of the second movie, Addison goes,
32:16I wonder why my hair is white then if I'm not really a werewolf.
32:20And then her hair glows and like a shooting star shoots by.
32:23And then the third one's about aliens. You're like, okay, they tease aliens.
32:26And at the end of the third one, they're like, we're all friends now.
32:30And we're ready for any new monsters that may show up.
32:33And then a wave crashes and you see a mermaid.
32:37And you're like, oh, mermaids are next guys.
32:40And then vampires are next.
32:41But this one ends with the big whirlpool.
32:43So you're like, so is that mermaids again?
32:45Like, I think just going forward, they should just always tease mermaids at the end.
32:50And just never deliver.
32:52Because they said they might do another trilogy.
32:54So the next one, they should just do like ghosts or something.
32:57But then at the end, they're like, the ghosts sure did end up becoming our friends.
33:02Uh, mermaid like swims by.
33:04And then on the last one, they're like, witches show up or something.
33:07And they're like, we've all become friends.
33:09And us witches are ready to meet any kind of new monsters that might show up.
33:14And then like a little, you see like a little mermaid in the background.
33:17And there's just, it's the never ending mermaid tease.
33:21Because my comprehensive analysis is that the first movie was about discrimination.
33:27And the second movie was about discrimination.
33:29And the third movie wasn't.
33:31And the fourth movie kind of is about discrimination.
33:33So the first movie was about a couple.
33:36One of which was a human.
33:38And humans discriminate against zombies.
33:40And the other was a zombie.
33:41And Addison learned what she was taught about zombies isn't cool.
33:46And that she should support zombies.
33:49And then she's like, she wants to support zombies.
33:53But she also doesn't want to get kicked out of cheerleading for doing that.
33:56But at the end of the movie, she decides to fuck it.
34:00And she decides to support the zombies anyways.
34:03Even if it gets her kicked out of cheerleading.
34:05And so you're like, this is a movie about like co-conspiratorship.
34:08Like between a person with privilege and a person actively being oppressed.
34:12And so while it's not handled particularly well.
34:15It's really about what are you willing to give up to show your support for people who are being oppressed.
34:21And the answer is you actually should sacrifice some of your own goals and happiness.
34:26If it means supporting your friends.
34:28And then the second movie is about.
34:31Two different groups of people can be oppressed in different ways.
34:34And you don't have to make yourself more agreeable to the people who are oppressing you.
34:40You need to stay true to who you are.
34:42And expect them to treat you without oppression.
34:46And when they do treat you with oppression, stand against it.
34:49And break the rules if the rules are wrong.
34:51And work together with your different groups of people.
34:53And form coalitions together to fight against oppression.
34:58Then the third movie is about how aliens are happiest if they go to earth.
35:02And so the first two movies aren't just about how racism is bad.
35:05They're specifically about oppression.
35:08And one group that's being oppressed.
35:10And the interactions between the oppressors and the oppressees.
35:14And so the fourth movie, you're like, we've got this new couple.
35:18And they're like, this new couple is just like Addison and Zed.
35:21And look, they're doing the Addison and Zed thing.
35:24Where one of them accidentally hits the other one.
35:26And look, they're falling in love.
35:28But the problem is, Addison was from the oppressor.
35:32And Zed was from the oppressee.
35:34In this movie, they're just two sides.
35:36So the movie's not about oppression.
35:39And you're like, that's not the same dynamic.
35:41It's not.
35:43This is just Greece.
35:44This is just East versus West.
35:46And so, I think what happened is they realized that the first two zombie movies literally too woke.
35:52Eastsiders and Westsiders should work together.
35:55It's immoral that any parent can walk into the living room and see their child watching on Disney Plus and go,
36:01That's a nice metaphor for my child.
36:03But if a conservative walks in and sees the rebel zombie character saying,
36:09These drills are offensive and driven by zombie phobia.
36:12They're gonna say, what's this lip shit happening in my home?
36:17Like, it's not a coincidence that our lead is a human, but also white.
36:23She has to do unlearning and realizing that people she didn't formally realize were oppressed were actually being oppressed.
36:31And that's obviously a metaphor for white people.
36:35And conservatives aren't gonna be happy with that metaphor.
36:38Because it's one thing to just say, racism bad.
36:41But it's an entirely another thing to say that we live in a society where groups of people are still being oppressed.
36:47And that as a high schooler, here's some ideas you should keep in mind surrounding oppression.
36:53Like, those morals are way too, way too actually poignant to be in a kids movie.
37:00They had to dial them back.
37:01Like, it's so clear that that's what's happened.
37:04So, yeah.
37:05I think the moral of the video is make zombies woke again.
37:08Zombies 4 is not woke.
37:10Trump won the election and they're like, zombies can't be woke anymore.
37:14That's the limit of what happened.
37:16When we had Biden as president, zombies were woke.
37:19Zombie phobia was spoken about.
37:21Not once in this movie did I hear about vamp phobia.
37:28Oh, I forgot to mention this when I was talking about the soundtrack.
37:34I was a little afraid at first.
37:36Zed the zombie does do more white rap in this movie.
37:40Thank God.
37:42I was almost afraid they wouldn't have him do it anymore.
37:45Thankfully, he raps again.
37:47We can all rest easy.
37:49I mean, how could zombies possibly be a metaphor for black people if they didn't white rap?
38:01That wouldn't make any sense.
