The City Council wants to nearly double the population of the CBD and North Adelaide. But there are questions over whether the city can hold 50,000 residents and what it could mean for Adelaide's skyline.

01:03Single bed apartments to meet a student demand is not going to reach your 50,000 people.

01:13The council's plan requires 1,000 new homes each year and relies on private development.
01:19It comes in fits and starts, they have to get feasibility and capital and they have to struggle against construction costs which are quite high at the moment.
