Truth & Knowledge: Episode 79 – "No Longer A Sinner"

In this episode, Trey Knowles explores the idea of uprooting sin from our lives and replanting ourselves in Christ. He emphasizes that through God's power, we are equipped to overcome both the world and sin. While all have sinned and fallen short, this is a past reality—we are no longer bound by it. Through Jesus Christ, the power to be free from sin is available to all who live in obedience to His Word.

00:00We all have sinned and fallen short to the glory of God.
00:08We all have sinned and fallen short to the glory of God.
00:15And that should be past tense.
00:20It should be past tense.
00:22If it's not past tense, then we need to repent and change.
00:28We have mistakes.
00:30And we have shortcomings.
00:33And we apologize for those mistakes and we correct our shortcomings.
00:39Behavior is a choice.
00:41A choice to do what is right or a choice to do what is wrong.
00:47To be obedient or be disobedient.
00:51What comes out a person's mouth is a choice.
00:54To say the right thing or say the wrong thing.
00:56Then there is learned behavior that has been ironed on people's hearts and minds.
01:09Learned behavior that has been ironed on people's hearts and minds.
01:17Learned behavior that has been influenced.
01:21Learned behavior that becomes the ideology of a person's heart and mind.
01:26Becomes the core belief.
01:32We call these bad roots.
01:36Bad roots.
01:38When the ideology is wrong and it's ironed on your heart and mind.
01:44These are bad roots.
01:48We call this inaccurate information also.
01:52Inaccurate information that is in your heart or in our minds.
01:55And it's hard to find out, okay, I've been believing in a lie.
02:04And we have to walk away from that lifestyle, from that belief, that ideology.
02:12And all this is part of repenting and changing.
02:20No longer a sinner.
02:22Let's talk about it.

03:03Truth and knowledge.
03:05Welcome to Truth and Knowledge.
03:07Created by Traylon.
03:09When you have inaccurate information, you do not know what you do.
03:27When you have inaccurate beliefs, when you have inaccurate ideology, you do not know what
03:35you do.
03:36It's like living in a schizophrenic society.
03:39Because you think that your behavior is the right way of life, and that right way of life
03:47is correct for you.
03:49But actually, it is wrong.
03:52There's a way that seems right to man, but at the end, it leads to destruction.
03:55And this is why we need an instruction manual.
04:00And God is our instruction manual, because he created the heavens and the earth, and everything
04:06in it.
04:08He is our path to righteousness.
04:11He is our path to the true way of life.
04:13God created us all.
04:14And he would not give you an instruction manual without an ability to accomplish it.
04:25So he gave you instruction manual, because he gave you the ability to accomplish it.
04:33So you can never say that, that I can't be good, or I can't be holy, or I can't be righteous,
04:43because you can, because he gave you the ability to be righteous.
04:48He gave you the ability to stop sinning.
04:50He gave you the ability to be righteous and to be holy.
04:53See, we all have sinned and fallen short, including myself.
05:00And right now, everything should be past tense.
05:05Past tense.
05:10This is the accomplishment of the Lord, to make us brand new.
05:16This is the accomplishment and the power of the Lord to make us brand new, stainless.
05:21And this is what it means to be reborn again.
05:28So you're not a sinner unless you want to be a sinner.
05:34You're not a sinner unless you want to be a sinner.
05:39Because God's power makes us brand new, makes us stainless.
05:47That's what it means to be reborn again.
05:49When you're reborn again, then you're not sinning anymore, because you choose not to.
05:53You choose not to sin.
05:58You choose not to sin.
06:00Sin is a choice.
06:06Anytime that you say that you are a sinner, and you cannot do good, because you are just
06:11a sinner, and if your church is telling you that, if your church is telling you that you
06:16will always be a sinner, then they end up wrong.
06:21They're denying the power of the Lord.
06:25You are denying the power of the Lord.
06:28You are denying the way, the truth, and the life when you say that you're always going to
06:33be a sinner.
06:33And why do I say this?
06:37Why do I say such things?
06:40It is written, 1 Corinthians 15, 20 through 25, but Christ has indeed been raised from the
06:48dead.
06:50Jesus Christ has been raised from the dead.
06:52Now, remember, death came through a man, and that man was Adam, all right?
07:14Because Adam's disobedience, by choice, remember, by choice, he was subject to death, because
07:22the wages of sin equals death.
07:26And that is why, when you don't follow God's instruction manual, and you are doing your own
07:35thing, you're following something else, you're not living the right way of God.
07:44Because you choose not to be obedient.
07:49You choose not to be obedient.
07:53Adam choose not, Adam choose to be disobedient.
07:57He choose something else.
08:00So the wages of sin equals death, because he choice, he choose, he choose to be disobedient.
08:06He choose the power of his creator.
08:09He choose to walk away from the power of the creator.
08:12Anytime you choose to be disobedient, you're walking away from the power of your master.
08:17But Adam had the ability to follow God's instruction, and still have the ability to follow God's instruction.
08:30So God gave him the ability to follow his instruction, but he also gave Adam the ability
08:39ability to make a choice, and Adam made that choice to disobey God.
08:46So the wages of sin equals death.
08:50So it's a choice to be obedient or disobedient.
08:56It is a choice, and God gave you that ability, so you can be righteous.
09:06You can be holy.
09:08So Adam made a choice, and he chose to disobey.
09:20And so when you choose to disobey, it brings separation.
09:25It brings separation of the operation.
09:27Operation is for God to be with you, to be right there with you.
09:33But Adam chooses separation from God through disobedience.
09:40The operation is God created you in his likeness.
09:45He created you in his image and likeness.
09:51And so anytime you're being disobedient, you're not in the likeness, you're not in the image
09:55of God.
09:56Because the wages of sin equals death.
10:00But God, because God loves you, and he loves his creation.
10:03God created you and created us, and he loves us.
10:07He doesn't want us to be subject to death.
10:10So he brings his only forgotten son, Jesus Christ, to save the world.
10:18To save the world.
10:24Which is beautiful.
10:26So let's go back to 1 Corinthians 15, 20 through 20, 20 through 25.
10:34And we go to verse 22.
10:37For as in Adam, all died.
10:40So if you're following Adam's footsteps,
10:43if you're following Adam's footsteps in disobedience,
10:48then you're going to die.
10:50We're all going to die.
10:51Because we all have sin.
10:53And so, boy, if you're following Adam's footsteps, there is a death that, and you keep following
11:03Adam's footsteps, if you keep continuing to follow Adam's footsteps, there is a death that
11:08you don't want to face.
11:09We're all going to die.
11:16But in Christ, all will be made alive.
11:20You see?
11:21The first Adam fell, and Jesus Christ makes us alive.
11:24For as in Adam all died, so in Christ we all will be made alive.
11:35We are all made alive because Jesus Christ took our place on the cross and showed us the way of life.
11:46So Jesus Christ took our place, took our place, because we're supposed to die forever.
11:53Forever.
11:53We have an earthly death, but we're not supposed to die forever.
11:59Only if you want to die forever.
12:01And the only reason why we have the earthly death is because we all have sinned and fallen short.
12:07Right?
12:08But if you continue to sin, it's like you never existed.
12:13We're all made alive because Jesus Christ took our place on the cross and showed us the way of life.
12:19How did he show us the way of life?
12:26How did Jesus Christ show us the way of life?
12:30Because Jesus Christ came to do the will of God.
12:34And he did not sin.
12:36He came to do the will of God.
12:39And he was obedient to the Father.
12:42Obedient.
12:44How to do the will of God?
12:47And serve him only.
12:48How to do the will of God is to serve him only.
12:53To serve the Father only.
12:56Not ourselves.
12:57Not our pleasures.
12:59Not our flesh.
13:00But serve God only.
13:03By obedience.
13:08We go to verse 22.
13:13Oh, wait.
13:14We actually did verse 22 already.
13:15So, but through Adam, there's an example.
13:21And through Jesus Christ, there's an example.
13:23Okay?
13:25Through Adam, there's an example.
13:26And through Jesus Christ, there is an example.
13:29Do you choose death or life?
13:31Do you choose to disobey God like Adam did?
13:39Or do you choose to be obedient like Jesus Christ did?
13:42He came to do the will of God.
13:43And he pleased the Father in heaven.
13:47Which one do you choose?
13:48Do you choose death or do you choose life?
13:49But God has gave us the ability.
13:51You have, we have the ability to be obedient.
13:54You have the ability to be obedient or disobedient.
13:58Now, if you deny that God gave you that ability, then something is wrong.
14:02You're denying the power of God.
14:04Because God gave us everything that we need.
14:07He gave us his spirit.
14:09We have everything that we need.
14:10We have the ability to, we have the ability of self-control.
14:13We have the ability to be obedient or disobedient.
14:18And that's a choice.
14:21To those who have the ability to be obedient and live by the fruits of the spirit belongs to Christ.
14:26Because they have crucified the flesh.
14:30They have put their sinful deeds to death and spring up life through the power of God, Jesus Christ.
14:38And it's what Jesus Christ is talking about.
14:40Now, we all are, we all are made alive through Jesus Christ.
14:47We all are made alive through Jesus Christ.
14:49Those who wants to be made alive.
14:53If you want to be made alive, then you're walking in obedience.
14:56You're not being like Adam.
14:57You're not choosing to be disobedient.
15:01But each in turn, Jesus Christ, are the first fruits.
15:08Verse 23.
15:10But each in turn, Christ, the first fruits, then, when he comes, those who belong to him,
15:17then at the end will come when he hands over the kingdom to God, the Father,
15:24the God, the Father, after he has destroyed all dominion, authority, and the power,
15:30after God has destroyed all the disobedience and the dominion of sinfulness,
15:37Jesus Christ, he will, Jesus Christ will destroy it.
15:40But in turn, Christ, the first fruits, the first fruits of Christ, when he comes, those who belong to him,
15:49he will hand over to the Father.
15:51For the ones who are stainless, the ones who are obedient, when we are obedient, when we are stainless,
15:59and when he comes, he will hand us over to the Father.
16:05Jesus said, we'll gather up his children.
16:08Our Savior will gather us up and give us to the Father where we belong because he created us.
16:14He created us.
16:16And he will hand us over to the Father.
16:19Because we recognize that we have the ability to be obedient, not disobedient, you see?
16:32This is a beautiful thing.
16:35This is a beautiful, beautiful thing.
16:38And he will destroy the dominion of wickedness, all the authority of wickedness, all the power of the enemy,
16:49the power of the devil will be destroyed.
16:52Those who love to do wickedness, the ones who love to be disobedient,
16:58those who deny the power,
17:03you deny the power of God.
17:05How do you deny the power of God?
17:08By continually walking in sin.
17:14Not only are you walking in sin, that you love it.
17:16You love walking in sin.
17:18You don't want to change.
17:26He must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.
17:30Who are his enemies?
17:31Those who are disobedient.
17:33Those who do not believe.
17:35Because when you believe, you obey.
17:40When you believe, you obey.
17:45When you believe in something, you obey.
17:48Yeah, you know the name.
17:51You know his name.
17:52But do you believe in him?
17:54If you believe in him, that means you have faith in him.
17:56When you trust him, you do what he says.
17:59If you love me, keep my commandments.
18:03Everything that is disobedient and does not represent the nature of God is death.
18:09The wages of sin equals death.
18:14So be reborn again and be alive and through obedience.
18:19Why do I say this?
18:21In Matthew 4, 4, Jesus answered,
18:23It is written, man should not live on bread alone, but every word that proceeded out of the mouth of God.
18:29You have the ability.
18:33You have the ability.
18:35And anybody says that you don't have the ability to be holy or righteous, then they lie unto you.
18:41Anybody tells you that you cannot be holy, then something is wrong.
18:47And somebody tells you that you're just a sinner and you're always going to be a sinner.
18:50This is not true.
18:56Because sin is a choice.
18:59They're lying to you.
19:01You're not always going to be a sinner unless you want to be a sinner.
19:08Why do I say this?
19:10It is written in Ephesians 4, 22 through 24.
19:15Therefore, you are taught with regard to put your formal way of life, to put your formal way of life, to put your old self, which was corrupted by its deceitful desires, to be made new with a new attitude, with new minds.
19:34So we are taught in regard to put our formal way of life away, to throw away our formal way of life away, to throw away that old self that has been corrupted and through deceitful desires.
19:53You don't desire the same thing.
19:55If you're still desiring the same thing, then you have to change.
19:57You have to repent and put on a new attitude, put on a new mind, put a new way of thinking.
20:05To put that new self created in God's true righteousness and holiness, put on that new self.
20:13You see?
20:15So if anybody tells you that you're always going to be a sinner, then that's a lie.
20:19That is a lie.
20:21Because God is telling you to put on your new self.
20:27And take off your old self.
20:28And that's a choice.
20:29So when you have put on your new self and the righteousness and holiness of the power of Jesus Christ, of the power of God, you're no longer a sinner.
20:43You're no longer a sinner.
20:48This is what it means to be reborn again, my brothers and sisters.
20:52And so if you are reborn again, you are no longer a sinner.
20:55You are made new in Christ Jesus through the power and the resurrection of Christ Jesus.
21:02So now you are no longer a sinner, but this comes with love.
21:07This comes with love.
21:10As a husband loves his wife and a wife loves her husband, this comes with love.
21:14You want to satisfy the Lord.
21:17You want to please God.
21:20So this comes with love.
21:24And I know that I love God.
21:27I live for him and follow his commandments.
21:32Yes.
21:34Then I am no longer a sinner because I put the death of my sins and gave them to Jesus Christ.
21:44So I put the death of my sins, I give it to Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ what?
21:48Took it to the cross.
21:50Because he took it to the cross because so I can be alive in him.
21:55Because the wages of sin equals death.
21:59So my past tense, my sins in the past, I have given to him.
22:04He has forgave me for it.
22:06He has shown me mercy.
22:08And he took it to the cross.
22:12And he took my place.
22:16He took my place.
22:17And he took it to the cross.
22:21And he resurrected.
22:24As he resurrected, I also resurrected through him.
22:29I have a new life.
22:30And so I have a new life.
22:32I follow him by obedience.
22:34Now, disobedience means the power of the cross was not good for you.
22:42If you continue in sin, you mean you're saying that the power of the cross is not good for you.
22:48Why would you continue in sin when somebody is showing you the way of life, showing you the way, how to do God's will, showing you how to do God's will, and you refuse to live that way?
23:05I mean, you want to be a sinner, and you want death.
23:20So I'm no longer a sinner, because I put to death my sins and gave them to Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ paid the price for all sin.
23:29He paid the price for all sin.
23:36And those who refuse to accept, how do they refuse to accept?
23:46By not living in obedience.
23:50Not living in obedience.
23:52You refuse the power by not living in obedience.
23:55Because I accept his love, I do not sin.
24:04I accept his love by not sinning.
24:08And so it's, you know, he loves me for dying on the cross for my sins.
24:15I love him for not sinning.
24:17And listening to his word and being obedient.
24:20Because the power of this, because the power of his love and my love for him does not allow me to sin.
24:30This is a loyal, a loyal marriage.
24:35The power of his love and the power of my love for him does not allow me to sin.
24:43Which is beautiful.
24:48See, that's why God wants us to love him with all our minds, with all our strengths, with all our soul.
24:55Because when you love him, you're not allowing yourself to sin.
25:00You're allowing yourself to be obedient and to be in the will of God.
25:04And when you're in the will of God, you are no longer a sinner.
25:14I'm Trey Nolfe, and thank you for watching Truth and Knowledge.
25:18Grace and peace.
25:19Until next time.
