00:00The government's zero-billing policy for inpatients treated in public hospitals assures them free-of-charge confinement, treatment, and care.
00:08This latest Department of Health policy, which the president touted in his fourth State of the Nation speech,
00:13lifts the huge financial burden off of indigents and the poor seeking medical service, treatment, and care for their existing ailments, as our Harley Valbuena reports.
00:22The zero-balance billing in public hospitals covers all patients in basic confinement, poor or not.
00:31This is the reiteration of Malacanang after President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced in his fourth State of the Nation address
00:38the Department of Health's zero-billing policy in hospitals.
00:42The DOH, moreover, insists the zero-billing program is applicable to all.
01:25The Health Department added, the zero-balance billing is also expected to be adopted by four GOCC hospitals,
01:33such as Philippine Heart Center, Philippine Lung Center, National Kidney Transplant Institute, and Philippine Children's Medical Center.
01:41Some Filipinos are elated by the zero-billing program because all their medical expenses will be covered by the national government.
01:48Mas okay po yun, sir, para po sa mahihirap na walang pambayad po.
01:53Ako po, taxi driver po ako eh. Nasa kalansangan tayo raw-waro eh. Kaya kailangan natin yung magamit natin yung mga dapat kailangan natin.
02:02However, the palace reminds the public that to avail such benefit, a patient must be a PhilHealth member.
02:09But for non-members, they can ask assistance for registration from a PhilHealth accredited hospital.
02:15Meanwhile, for the expanded Z-benefit package of PhilHealth, the palace says it also covers patients admitted in private wards or rooms.
02:26Hindi po kinakailangan na kayo'y nasa ward. So kahit po kayo nasa private room, nasa public hospital, basta po yung hospital na yun,
02:33ay may kontrata po sa PhilHealth na Z-benefit package. Pasok po yan.
02:38The Marcos Jr. administration increased the coverage for kidney transplant under the PhilHealth Z-benefit package from P600,000 to P2,000,000.
02:49Harli Balduena from the National TV Network for a new and better Philippines.
02:53Terima kasih.
