00:08French media outlet RFI reported that Mara was summoned to appear before a court specialized

00:14in cybercrime two weeks after an interrogation by the country's Judicial Investigation Brigade.

00:20Mara, who resigned his office in 2015, posted a message on social media in which he says

00:26he visited a number of political and civil society figures in prison, including journalist Raz Bath.

00:33There's been no official statement on why Mara is being questioned, but his use of the term

00:37prisoners of conscience may have irked authorities, with the implication that their detention is

00:43politically motivated.

00:45Mali is ruled by a military junta that seized power in 2021.
