00:00I don't know if he's overall, you'd say the overall picture is that he's struggling or that
00:04he's underwhelmed or maybe it's just mixed. I'm not really here to do that. I'm not pounding the
00:09table that Will Campbell sucks or anything like that. But I think it's clear he's had some
00:13struggles. All right. And I'm just using it as a jumping off point. And what I'm really focused
00:19on here more so today is the way the organization is approaching him. And I don't love it. If this
00:27is what they're doing. Okay. Again, these are just, they haven't gotten into any joint
00:30practices yet. Maybe this is just their approach the first couple of weeks and it's going to
00:34change starting tomorrow. I don't know. I can only tell you what they've done to this point.
00:38But to this point, what they've done is draft them, give them the left tackle job and completely
00:47turn their back on it. Meaning, in other words, he's had no competition. He's not, he's not
00:52competing for the job. There's no one else taking it. That's why I asked Alex, is anyone
00:56else repping with the ones? Is anyone else rotating in with the first team? As in Will
01:02Campbell and player X vying for the left tackle job? They're not even doing that. And he hasn't
01:09spent one day or one snap that I could tell, but I asked him playing any other position with
01:15any other grouping. First team left tackle from the first spring camp with no interruption.
01:22So they're just handing him the job. I don't know. I don't know if I love that.
01:31Yeah. I mean, it's going to default to it because of the draft status. I mean, they went fourth
01:34overall. I mean, I don't love that either. Should it? I mean, if he's struggling, if he
01:38is struggling that, you know, he shouldn't just be handed the job. Okay. You need a left tackle
01:44and you drafted someone at four to play left tackle. So he gets the job no matter what.
01:48I mean, I can see that happening with quarterbacks. Quarterbacks are, it's a different circumstance
01:53and sometimes teams have the approach. I don't agree with it, but you draft a guy first overall
01:59to play quarterback. You need a quarterback. He's in there day one and he learns on the
02:02job. And even if he's quote unquote, not ready, you just grow with them. And he, him playing
02:06every week gets him to maturity faster. And that's just what you do at quarterback. I don't
02:11agree with it, but a lot of teams do it. Any other position? I don't know. Like, I don't
02:19love the, I don't love the approach like to me. And let's see if it changes. The Darian
02:24low has been hurt, right? Yeah. He's been on the POP list. So, and the Darian low sucks.
02:28I know, I know, I know, I know, but he's played left tackle in the NFL, even if just for
02:33appearances or just to tweak him a little bit, give him some competition. You have to beat
02:39out the incumbent to be our left tackle and our incumbent sucks. It shouldn't be hard,
02:45but the Darian low is going to rep with the ones you're going to rep with the ones. And
02:50we're going to see who's better. And we're going to give you an early taste of being an
02:54NFL player, having to beat someone out in camp. And maybe they're just not doing that
02:59because lows on PUP, but I do it with someone else. I don't know. No, listen, I'm not, I'm
03:05not. So what I wonder is, okay. Cause I agree with you. I think it's unusual. And
03:09I also would have signed someone in case, God forbid, the kid you just drafted isn't
03:19quite ready or the 34 year old journeyman you signed is over the hill. And I had, I
03:25built in a little more protection other than relying on someone who's too young on
03:29one side and too old on the other. They should have a better swing tackle in here and they
03:34should be this, this swing tackle should be working in, should be competing with both
03:38of these guys or even draft another one in a later round. I mean, Moses is in a stages
03:43curve. He doesn't need the motivation or anything like that, but I just don't love
03:48the idea of, we need a left tackle. We drafted you for, you're playing it. And
03:52that's, it doesn't matter how much you suck. You're going to be there in that spot
03:55every day, no matter what. I don't know. Does that, does that sound right to you?
03:59No, no. And I think there's probably an element involved. Like if I had to guess the why my
04:06guess is they think he's brittle. And when I say brittle, I mean that this whole thing
04:11about the short arms and maybe he's a guard. And if they introduce competition, does he
04:16now start to say, do they think I'm a guard? Like, do they think I can't play tackle?
04:20I have no indication of that. I don't know that he lacks confidence. I don't know that.
04:24I don't know. I'm just telling you that, that maybe it's just an approach. We, we deem
04:29you or, or, or they're just, they believe in their analysis. We've done the work. We've
04:36scouted you. We see the film. We know you can handle it as a rookie day one NFL level.
04:41That's what we believe. And that's what we're going to do and get in there. Never accounting
04:45for the fact that it's a little harder than that, or maybe you're wrong. Or maybe once you
04:50take, take them off of the film and off a paper and onto the field against actual NFL
04:55competition, it just doesn't translate like you thought. I mean, like that's possible.
04:58Of course it is. And I, it's a different dynamic on the other side, but Morgan Moses, like God,
05:05I, I, the, the analysis on the signing was like, Oh, well they got, you know, they got
05:09their, they got their steady, solid guy that can just hold down the fort. How do you know
05:15that? He's 34, right? Yes. And he's really sizable. And it was the jets that he didn't
05:21we sound with the jets. Correct. Correct. I don't know that the depth of tackle is not
05:27great. I'd have protection for that. Yeah. They should have signed another guy to play
05:31tackle a veteran to play tackle on, you know, again, a swing tackle to your point. There
05:36should be some insurance there and there isn't Campbell's a rookie. I'm not even talking
05:39about the arms at this point anymore. He's a rookie. What if he has fits and starts?
05:44What if he had slumps? What if he get whatever is this a kid and he's going to
05:50have ups and downs. So when, when he's, when he's out, maybe needs a blow. Maybe
05:54he needs a rest. Maybe he's a mental break. He needs, he needs to sit out, sit out
05:58a series, sit out a game, whatever. It's not working for a time. Well, the day that
06:02you have no one, you have no one to put in there. If you know, Vrabel comes off as a bit
06:06of a Parcellian hard ass, right? So he's going in on, on Campbell the other day, that
06:10real hot day at the beginning of the week when Campbell's down on one knee
06:13saying, are you from Louisiana? This should be like springtime to you. In a
06:16perfect scenario, he whistles and then low goes in. He's like, you know what? You
06:19need a blow. You need to rest. Right. Here's a few minutes. But instead it feels
06:23like almost by default, there is no competition and it doesn't help that
06:26lows also hurt. So don't you like the fact that I like a head coach that busts
06:31the balls of the rookies? Yes. It should be. And so it sounded like Vrabel did a
06:36little ball busting there on the field. Right. But he's powerless because they don't
06:40really have anyone else in the position. But then to really follow through on that
06:43is like, okay, you need a rest. You're going to rest and we're going to put in
06:46the other guy and see how he looks. If you want to rest, you know, you're not going
06:50to play. I don't know. Like you do that. I want to say Vrabel did that with the
06:57rookie receiver sort of threw out a line there about conditioning and well, if this
07:02is pouting because he didn't get the ball on the deep slant Williams, can he come
07:05back and know where he's supposed to be? I'm like, good. He's calling out a rookie,
07:08sort of tweaking a rookie. Good. Has there been any Campbell tweaking other than
07:12that thing on the field that again, you know, was came from fans? No, not that
07:17I know of. So I don't know. I'm curious. I, so I don't know exactly the right
07:23answer. I don't know exactly how they're going to do it. Maybe this is just how
07:27they're approaching it the first couple of weeks, but it's, it's just worth noting.
07:31I mean, look, it'll come clear when low is available, but they cleared the runway.
07:38Didn't they for Drake May? They did. Maybe they're clear on the runway for
07:41Will Campbell too. Maybe I didn't realize he would need that. I thought he had all
07:45that football character and toughness. I'm not, I never even considered that
07:49mask. Maybe it is. I mean, I don't know, but I thought he had all that, all that
07:54great football character already built in. That was part of the analysis. He put
07:58Vrabel on his ass and a workout down there. Didn't he? Now he can't eat. It turns out
08:03he can't block his run play, his freaking teammate. Nevermind. Clay me on chase on
08:09or key on white. He put Vrabel on his ass, but I thought Campbell had all that other
08:14stuff. Like that was a perfect Patriot Vrabel kind of guy. Cause of all that
08:18mental toughness. Now they got to coddle him a little bit. They can't give him
08:20competition. I don't believe that. Uh, but I don't know what it is. So will
08:26Campbell's not going to have to compete for left tackle? There's no, they
08:29purposely gave him put no one there. Are you know something, man? No, I don't
08:35know anything. No, I'm smirking because I think it's preposterous that they would
08:39just hand him the job. I think it's curious. Like to me, you don't know that
08:44he can do, even if he can play left tackle, you don't know that he can do it
08:47right out of the gate. It's a big ask again, Nate Solder. And I recognize Nate
08:52Solder was picked at 17 or whatever number he was picked at, but Nate
08:56Solder who ended up playing it started year one at right tackle. This is right.
09:00He played right tackle at the beginning. They lessened the workload on him. They
09:04made it a little simpler or not. Didn't put so much pressure on him. This guy's
09:08got like, doesn't have a lot of help next to him. I mean, maybe Jared Wilson
09:12turns out to be a player. We don't know that yet, but he's kind of on an island
09:17over there. It's asking a lot.
