00:00President Haga Indehijinema has held a meeting with members of parliament at Statehouse, a head of parliament's adjournment in the year, scheduled for tomorrow.
00:11The head of state has urged parliamentarians to use the recess period to communicate government programs and policies to the electorates, especially the achievements in the areas of increased Constituence Development Fund, CDF.
00:28Chief Government Spokesperson Cornelius Mwedwa briefed Zanis shortly after the closed-door meeting at Statehouse.
00:36Assembly, so today, Thursday, ahead of tomorrow's adjournment, the president held a meeting with all UPND members of parliament to be able to give direction and guidance as to how they should spend this forthcoming recess.
00:56It says that all members of parliament of the UPND, including those who are not here, are generally members of parliament, that they should go out there to interact with their electorates, to explain to the electorates' government policies and programs that have been put in place.
01:16Mr. Mwetwa revealed that the president's message was not only meant for UPND members of parliament, but even those from the opposition political parties.
01:27The president's emphasis was on the members of parliament, you know, getting down to the people to give feedback on what they came here to do,
01:38so that in the absence that the members of parliament were here in Nusaka at parliament,
01:42they are also able to give feedback and also challenges that are obtaining in their various constituencies,
01:48so that as we open in September, the members of parliament will be speaking from an informed point of view of the challenges that are, you know, affecting their people,
01:57so that their government gets to be informed and act with this collaboration of information between the elected and those who elect them to offices of leadership.
